How Ted Nugent Would Solve the Government Shutdown

The Nuge for Pres!

Media Matters

National Rifle Association board member and conservative columnist Ted Nugent claimed on a Florida radio station that the federal government shutdown could be resolved if the United States were “run like the Nugent household.”

He also suggested that a single person could do a better job than 5,000 federal employees and revived his previous claim that members of the military are committing suicide at a record rate because President Obama is “the enemy of the country.”

Asked how he would resolve the government shut down during his October 14 appearance on The Gater 98.7, Nugent said, “I celebrate that they’re shut down because Fedzilla is a bloated monster.”

Noting that his previous “threat” to run for president is “alive and well,” Nugent added, “I would love to see America run like the Nugent household. You get up early, you maximize your productivity, you be the best that you can be, you live within your means, you save for a rainy day and you don’t be some gluttonous, slovenly, criminal, wasteful paycheck fire-torching bastard like most of the people in politics today.”

Well, the cards are all from his account, and he gives her an allowance for her household duties, but only if she doesn’t use birth control.

Nugent sounds as clueless as one of the freeper commenters

In fact the GOP should take the following line in my opinion in talking to Obama.

“Look, Barry, we have the votes to stop you cold and we have decided to do that.

“We control the government funduiing and we are going to exercuise that control.

“We are talking about a complete shutdown where not so much as a dime will be available for you to even heat the White House, so get ready to stay at the local Holiday Inn on your own dime for the dduration.
“the only thing we will fund during that time is the US military you hate so much.

“When you are ready to talk about seriously creating a budget…one that is balanced by the way, and reducing the debt…and we are talking about a true reduction in the actual amount we owe, not just a reduction in the percentage of your spending increases, and we are talking anout an end to ObamCare. When you are ready to seriously talk to us about those things…get back with us.

“Oh, BTW, Barry. One other thing we will fund is the following. The House of Reprentatives will meet each day with the express purpose of impeaching your sorry backside every single day for the next 60 working days. Impeach you each day on different charges. 60 times, Barry. When you get ready to talk to us, then the first thing the Senate will do will be to act on those 60 impeachments before anything else.

“So, we have the votes, and we are firm. Give us a call when you are ready to talk. Bye now.”

That’s the discussion a real Speaker of the House should be having with Obama.

These people are delusional.
Unfortunately they vote in huge numbers, especially in midterms.
The Democrats have to make a really big push to GOTV in 2014.
We must take advantage of the republican split.

She can’t use birth control, she’s only allowed to sleep with him and must do so whenever he demands it. He, on the other hand, is free to have whatever wo/men he wants. And any maintenance costs of these side dalliances come out of her allowance.

Nugent is 64—how large could his household be? Just him and his wife, Shewolf, now?

Nugent has had 2 legal wives and 8 kids, 2 of whom, born in the late 60s, didn’t know he was their father; he signed away his rights to them when they were infants, for adoption, one a son who finally found out in 2010 that Nugent was his father. Five kids, including those 2, were from out-of-wedlock liaisons. How many of those 8 kids have you really supported, Nugent?

I will just mention 17 yr old Pele Massa.

Yeah, real family values there, Nugent.

Which, even if he did change his name, would be incredibly disrespectful. In general we grant people the right to determine what they call themselves, even if we might think it’s a silly name.

There’s of course the added layer of nuance of the period of history where the names given to black people were at the discretion of their owners, and their thoughts on the subject didn’t matter.

It’s a really mean, thoughtless thing when Obama haters do this. My first stepfather had a really fucked up upbringing and his alcoholic mother pressured him and his brother to take up her massively abusive second husband’s last name. Like Obama he took his birth name back as an adult. I’m not saying that Lolo Soetoro was an abusive stepfather, or that Obama’s mom drank, just that there are a lot of weird, painful pressures put on kids when their parents remarry and try to syncretize a new cohesive family identity.

It doesn’t say anything about the kid, they’re just trying to please the people in their lives who have the most power over them. It’s only the most sniveling kind of fuckfaced dillhole who would insist on referring to an adult by a name they were basically forced to take while a child, a name they’ve since rejected.

It’s not a more Kenyan name-he was apparently known as “Barry Soetero” in Indonesia, the Soetero part being his step-father’s last name. The intent is to refer to him as a child (when they aren’t actually calling Obama a “man-child”) and to further reference the fact that his step-father supposedly renounced his American citizenship (despite the fact one’s parent, much less a step-parent can’t do that for a minor.)

Yes, that’s just a bit over 2K a day, 2,142.857, to be fairly exact. That’s for a pretty sedentary male, not a very active one; a 180 lb male can consume 2350 calories a day for weight maintenance.

Given that most adult American males lead a pretty sedentary life, 2100 calories/day would be about right for them.

Sure, Mr. IronMan Competition needs more, but let’s face it, most American men spend the day sitting on their butt at an office or watching their TV or driving a vehicle.

LOL, he’s high.

I agree with much of that, and my answers to the two questions are “Yes” and “Yes.” But these strike me as silver-lining rationalizations.

The ACA isn’t anything like what Cruz portrays it as, but that’s subjective. What’s objective is that it’s more popular now than before the shutdown began, so from his own perspective on the second question he’s just flat out lying. Any way you look at it this has backfired, and badly.

Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons!

Who was Leslie Lynch King?

Remember that video from a few days ago, that found some traction, which was a warning about a school district electing certain individuals who would be like the Springsboro OH district board members who pushed all sort of wackiness, including creationism?

Well, an update:

A controversial online video targeting two Olentangy school-board candidates has been removed after its makers said they received threats.

The video attempts to connect candidates Katy Barricklow and Brian Helwig to the Springboro school district near Dayton. According to the video, the school board there dismantled sports, scared off teachers with pay cuts, brought creationism to the classroom and hung a Confederate flag at a meeting.

A narrator suggests that the same could happen in Olentangy if Barricklow and Helwig are elected alongside board member Adam White, who often disagrees with his colleagues.

In news reports, though, the Springboro superintendent lambasted the video, countering many of its accusations (although a Confederate flag was hung once over the summer, to his chagrin).

So why is Springboro talk of the town here? One school-board member there, Kelly Kohls, heads an association of conservative school officials, and Olentangy’s White is a member. White also backs Helwig and Barricklow.

The video had been posted by YouTube user “Olentangy United” but is now replaced with a new video that reads: “When threats and intimidation make you begin to fear for your family’s safety, it’s time to take the video down.”

I don’t know if this claim of threats is real or not, but the way tea partying America is going it would not surprise me. I suppose someone should dig down and find the truth.

I remember reading Ted Nugent saying that racism had disappeared by the 1970s. Turns out, he was only talking about racism against black people when he made his ridiculous claim.

I don’t care how Boehner shows up for this, as long as he brings the Senate bill to the House floor, and it gets the votes to pass.

Boehner’s promise, for what it is worth, is to bring the bill to the House floor. It would not be at all funny if there were enough House Republican votes against it to kill it.

These are folks who find it extraordinarily difficult - if not outright impossible - to adapt to a changing cultural milieu.

Here’s the story on that $2B “Kentucky Kickback”.

Conservatives accuse Mitch McConnell of ‘Kentucky kickback’ in spending deal

Read more: politico.com

“The provision, which is supported by the White House and doesn’t actually spend any money, would raise the amount authorized for the Olmsted Lock and Dam project to $2.9 billion from $775 million. McConnell’s office said he had no role in securing the language, which was authored by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.). Versions of the water project measure passed both the House and Senate earlier this year.”

The Jersey Shore is a prime candidate for a clusterfuck of derpiness.

As most of the fellow NJ or ex-NJ Lizards will probably agree.

It is incredibly expensive to buy homes there at this point. So you either have very rich folks, or people who have owned their homes for a very long time (and are therefore old). Both these groups are statistically more likely to break Republican.

Then you also have the small business owners.

And that’s not even getting started on easements and the ability of any one person to fuck over their entire town.

Think you’re jumping the gun on Monmouth. The early returns always favor the Republicans, and since Booker is still winning early by 7% I wouldn’t get too worked up.

Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Union, and Hudson are the keys. It’s where the people are. Add to that Camden and Middlesex. If Booker does well there, he’s winning the state.

And it shouldn’t be surprising that the Jersey Shore breaks towards Lonegan. Voting against self interest and going with the guy who would have hung everyone out to dry by not funding the NFIP, FEMA, and basically wanted to shut down the govt. This part of NJ, plus western NJ (Sussex) votes pretty reliably for GOPers, regardless of how extreme they are.
