Trump Triples Down on Racist Attack Against “Trump University” Lawsuit Judge

This is why the right wing base loves him

The media need to stop using weak euphemisms like “racially tinged” and “racially charged” to describe Donald Trump’s rhetoric.

It’s racism. Raw and unvarnished.

I give Jake Tapper credit here for pressing Trump this time, even though he got nowhere with it. This needs to be the tone of all interviews with this disgusting narcissistic bigot.

what is the trump saying when he says judge curiel should recuse himself because of his mexican heritage?

he’s admitting clearly that he expects anybody with mexican heritage to have a reason to be hostile to him - even if their closest connection to mexico is that their parents were born there

i’m sorry, trump, werent you saying just a little while ago that you were going to win the hispanic vote? but now you think anybody with any connection to mexico would obviously be hostile to you??

The fact that Trump keeps trashing Judge Curiel and talking about the fraud case against him tells me he seems to think that if he keeps doing what he’s doing, the public pressure will cause Judge Curiel to recuse himself and the case will end. Is he so unaware of how the U.S. justice system operates that he thinks Judge Curiel wouldn’t be replaced and the case wouldn’t proceed? If Judge Curiel were to recuse himself and be replaced with another judge, Trump would proceed to trash him/her, too because it’s what he does. By continuing to talk about the case, Trump is only making more American voters aware of it, and I hope they’re doing a bit of research into it and getting a bad taste in their mouths as they discover that Trump is a self-serving, greedy, racist, loud-mouthed, unethical, money-grubbing tool.

Trump has lived his entire life as a rich asshole. Almost everyone he has ever dealt with up until now has needed Trump more than he needs them, so there have never been any effective checks on his behavior.

Being a rich asshole was good enough to win the Republican primary, which shows how degenerate that party is these days.

The general election should be a different story.

re: #9 Jenner7

Notice he uses the word “one,” which in no way means that most of us blacks will vote for him in November. Surely if that were the case, he could point to more than one black person at his rally. Every time I see a pic of one of his rallies, I play a game similar to the kids’ “Where’s Waldo” game as I scrutinize them for evidence of POC, and most of the time, I don’t see any. If Trump thinks the presence of one black person at one of his rallies means he has widespread support among blacks in America, he’s deluding himself. I know many other blacks, and most of them have nothing good to say about Trump. We have his number, but don’t tell him that. We know exactly who/what he is, and that he’s bad news for America and the world. Let him keep dreaming. Romney dreamed of winning the votes of most blacks in 2012 as he went around the country disparaging POC and many others, and in the end, he had to cancel his victory fireworks in Boston on election night and had to write a quick concession speech. We might not say much while sh*t is being said/done, but we remember when we show up at the polls.

BINGO!

Add in he has this false idea America loves him and he obviously thinks he can talk or charm his way out of anything based on that idea. I do believe he takes things like a bigly rated crappy reality show to mean he is liked and followed by everyone. Also, he has all those magazine and newspaper stories stacked all around him all acting as an indication of how ‘big’ he is. Dude is a total head case. His money has allowed him to cover that up. Former TX Gov. Rick Perry said on Fox yesterday that Trump will “”peel [Hillary Clinton’s] skin off in a debate setting.”” This is the guy who couldn’t remember the three federal agencies he wanted to abolish when he was on a debate stage. Those of us who’ve been paying attention to Trump already know that he knows nothing about foreign policy, economics, healthcare, national security, etc., so I’m stumped by Perry’s claim. No matter how much Trump studies before the general election debates begin, I still think he’ll be incapable of showing mastery on any matter and will resort to bluster and insults. I definitely expect to hear him say, “Lying Hillary” X number of times, and when he does, he and his supporters will think he’s winning.

Well, being stumped by something Rick Perry said isn’t that rare an occurrence: it happens to Rick Perry all the time!

But I think you’re right about one aspect of the Presidential debate(s) this fall: Donald Trump probably won’t be able to argue policy (or any other intelligent point), and probably will resort to insulting bluster: but that sort of “win” will probably not only be lauded by his own creatures, but also get talked up by the right-wing media (and, disgracefully, probably by the “mainstream” media as well) who will most likely, at that point, be desperate to keep the “horserace” narrative alive, and harp on any Hillary Clinton “slip” or “gaffe” they can find - or invent.

An exaggerated sense of self-importance. An unwarranted belief in your own superiority. A preoccupation with fantasies of your own success, power and brilliance. A craving for constant admiration. A consuming sense of entitlement. An expectation of special favors and unquestioning compliance.

A penchant for exploiting or disparaging others. A total inability to recognize the needs of anyone else. An incapacity to see those you meet as separate human beings. An unreasoning fury at people you perceive as thwarting your wishes or desires. A tendency to act on impulse. A superficial charm deployed to disguise a gift for manipulation.

A need to always be right. A refusal to acknowledge error. An inability to tolerate criticism or critics. A compulsion to conform your ever - shifting sense of “reality” to satisfy your inner requirements . A tendency to lie so frequently and routinely that objective truth loses all meaning.

A belief that you are above the rules. An array of inconsistent statements and behaviors driven by your needs in the moment. An inability to assess the consequences of your actions in new or complex situations. In sum, a total incapacity to separate the world from your own psychodrama.

The thing I like about this is that Trump has made it that Hillary can’t get petty and insulting like the GOP clown train did. She just has to quote him. As long as she just sticks to his words, anything he says, any position he takes, there is video evidence of him saying the opposite. Even better, every time he tries to deny, it’s more fodder for her.

There is literally nothing he can do. That speech yesterday was an awesome piece of framing and anchoring.

Target rich environment indeed.

This is my 9th year in CA. I’ve eaten there once.

At least I’m pretty sure I ate there once. The only trip I can say for sure that I did was the evening I found out my grandmother had had a stroke and we had company over (ironically, from TX) and they wanted it. So we drove and then I had to have the car windows down because the smell of the fries was making me nauseous on top of everything else that day.

Which doesn’t mean they’re bad, just that that’s what I associate it with.

What are you talking about? Why would an alleged Christian “read” the Koran to learn anything since he’s been told by Fox News, RW pundits, blog owners, and politicians that Islam isn’t a religion even though religious scholars have said for years that it’s one of the world’s major religions?

Apparently trump doesn’t even use email.

He is mentally ill.

Someone, on air, in an interview will call him on it if this keeps going.

He knows how to play the media. When he gets called out, he just doubles down on the derp. He knows that as long as he sticks to his talking point, no matter how egregiously wrong it is shown to be, eventually the interviewer will give up and move on, because of time constraints. This is much easier to do in phone interviews, which is why he prefers them to face to face, but he gets away with it on ftf as you see in the Jake Tapper interview.

Excellent! For those short on time, these paragraphs showcase a central reason Trump is unqualified:

Which brings us to a central problem of Trump’s warped psychology - he believes that filling the presidency requires nothing but the wonder of himself. This gives the lie to GOP’s most craven rationalization of its own capitulation: that a suddenly docile Trump will, as president, defer to a cadre of wise and experienced advisors drawn from the party establishment.

This is pernicious nonsense. Consistent with his character disorder, Trump proudly insists that his chief advisor is himself. Even were he so inclined, in order to learn from others he must know enough to discern good advice from bad. But such is his pathology that he feels no need to learn much of anything from anyone. And so, from the beginning, he has plunged us down the bottomless rabbit hole of his intellectual emptiness.

His ignorance and grandiosity form a lethal compound. He disowns NATO, unaware that he is playing into Putin’s hands; blithely proposes nuclear proliferation in Asia; muses aloud about using nuclear weapons; and imagines negotiating one-on-one with North Korea’s psychotic leader. He proposes a trade war potentially ruinous to the world economy. He abets ISIS and Al Qaeda by scapegoating all Muslims at home and abroad. Oblivious to the appalled reaction around the globe, he promises to compel the respect of world leaders through ” the aura of personality.

No president can stay on top of every issue by himself; they need competent cabinets and a willingness to listen to them!

I had a Trump-like boss for a while who wouldn’t use email. He’d have someone print them out, he’d compose a hand-written response, and give it to someone to type and send. He was also the kind of jerk who, when someone would tell him days in advance that they had to leave ON TIME because family was visiting FROM JAPAN, would wait until 5 minutes before she needed to leave to give her his markup of a proposal that had to be finished that day. We kept telling her to slip out 10 minutes early but she was afraid to leave. I still remember what an ass he was.

Steve Benen noted today how clueless Ryan is if he only now notices the racism inherent in Trump’s attacks on Judge Curiel. Oh, I don’t doubt he’s noticed how racist many in the party are, but thus far, he’s been able to dismiss it because it hasn’t been as overt as the form Trump is pushing.

“Ryan, who endorsed Trump on Thursday, told WISN’s Up Front with Vicki McKenna: “Look, the comment about the judge the other day just was out of left field for my mind. It’s reasoning I don’t relate to. I completely disagree with the thinking behind that.”“…”More broadly, the idea that Ryan would be at all surprised about Trump race-based messaging is just bizarre. Trump’s most notable contribution to the political discourse ahead of his presidential campaign was cheerleading a racist conspiracy theory for several years. The New York Times’ Jonathan Martin noted earlier that the Republican Party is responding to eight years of the nation’s first African-American president by nominating a man who “openly practices racial politics.” Ryan knows this. He endorsed him anyway.”

If true, having Trump as POTUS would be unimaginably bad. One small point to note is that people are routinely denied security clearances for having such personality disorders, yet a general election victory by Trump would give the US nuclear launch codes to a madman.

From Lawyers, Guns, and Money:

Rarely Has An Argument Refuted Itself So Comprehensively

The last two points are especially instructive, because I think that this has nothing to do with Bernie Sanders per se. If Joe Biden or Martin O’Malley had been the runner-up, I think they would be making the same arguments about the Democratic Party being dominated by “neoliberals.” It’s worth noting that Smith’s co-blogger Lambert Strether treated Clinton as the second coming of Eugene Debs when she was the runner-up in the Democratic primaries in 2008, only to discover that she was a “neoliberal” if anything to the right of the “neoliberal” once she became likely to be Obama’s successor. The only principle here is “Democratic Party delenda est.” The fact that the party is moving steadily left doesn’t figure into their analysis because they’re not interested in taking “yes” for an answer. If Sanders did become president, as soon as he failed to get any of his agenda through a Republican House they would “discover” that he’s a “neoliberal” too. They’ve been making the same arguments before Bernie’s campaign and they will after. And these arguments will never stop being incredibly dumb.

I still remember the page from the other day here where Frank Luntz (!) was quoted as bemoaning Trump and Trumpism.

My response to Luntz is two-fold:

1) Why reject the monstrosity you’ve constructed with decades of diligent pollution of American politics?

2) If you claim your rejection is sincere, as opposed to being driven only by fears that Trump/Trumpism will be a loser in elections, then give me just one tangible reason to believe your claim. All senior Republicans have contributed to this disaster, and a complete repudiation of Republicans and all their works would seem to be the minimum concrete action needed to make a repudiation of Trump by a senior Republican credible.

All senior Republicans have contributed to this disaster, and a complete repudiation of Republicans and all their works would seem to be the minimum concrete action needed to make a repudiation of Trump credible.

Agree with both of your points.

re: #257 Great White Snark

Speaking of batshit insane fuckedup:

Google pulls Chrome extension that marked Jewish people online

Yesterday, Mic reported that a Google Chrome extension called “Coincidence Detector” was creating a database of Jewish people in order to notify users when they were reading the work of, or reading about, a Jewish person online. The extension placed three sets of parentheses (a symbol used by neo-Nazis) around certain names to identify them as Jewish. Now, one day later, Google has pulled the extension for violating its hate speech policy, Engadget reports.

The parentheses, which are known as an “echo,” originated from a right-wing podcast called The Daily Shoah, Mic reports. The plugin claimed it could “help you detect total coincidences about who has been involved in certain political movements and media empires,” which, as Mic notes, is based on a conspiracy theory that Jews are joining forces to push a “Jewish agenda.”

Brock Turner For 2016 Olympics
March 31 *
In a tragic miscarriage of justice, Brock has been found guilty by some betas who probably never got any play in college. This sends the message that only men are capable of making decisions after they’ve had a few drinks, which belittles women everywhere. Everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions and it saddens us to see that the “justice” system gives one gender a free pass but holds the other gender totally accountable for both parties’ actions. Hopefully, this patronizing verdict does not encourage more women to “be that girl,” but unfortunately it probably will, just as long as they can get media attention and maybe a payout.

Go with God, Brock! We’ll be voting for Trump in the hopes that he will fix things by giving you a well-deserved pardon.

This is actual, factual racism. Donald Trump presumes that because of an Indiana judge’s ancestry, the judge, who is 100% American, will be unable to be fair. That’s racist.

The judge, again, is fully American. He is from Indiana, not Mexico.

Donald Trump couldn’t care less. He is playing with fire and whipping up racist sentiment and claims of bias because the judge’s ancestry is Hispanic.

Between the judge and Donald Trump, only one of them had a parent arrested at a KKK riot, and it was not the judge.

Donald Trump should be ashamed. His supporters should be ashamed too.

I am glad to see Erick’s been consistent in his condemnation of Herr Drumpf but at the same time, I’m tired of conservatives refusing to see how their ideological movement is what’s allowed Trump to be successful in the first place. And yes I do blame Reagan and other Republican past nominees for that absolutely. Does every single Republican deserve to be blamed for Trump? No but the Republican party honchos who worked hard to create a hard right party. They need to own up to their responsibility on this. They love to lecture others to take personal responsibility but they never ever take any for their own ideology because conservatism to them is a cult like ideology that can never be wrong but only be wronged.

“senior Republicans” is in there for a reason. These are the people who have directly fed lies and propaganda to the Republican base, and are supposedly shocked to see that Trumpism is the result. Luntz is one such senior Republican.

I think Luntz’ only problem with Trump is the likely loss in the general election, unless Luntz gives me concrete evidence that he’s sincere about opposing Trump on the merits.

People, including Republicans, who haven’t been directly involved in propagandizing the Republican base for decades don’t have such strict requirements for their opposition to Trump to be deemed credible.

I can see the argument, though I disagree for a couple of reasons.

Reason one is that as I get older I get less and less enamored with passionate perfection. “In an ideal world” means “not today.” This leads to reason two:

It’s easier to win a lot of little battles than it is to win a huge one. Opposing Trump without disowning past positions does not stop the fact they’re opposing Trump. It gives platform for the battle that there’s a limit to their position - a point at which it’s “too far”. At which point it can be shifted left. and left. and left. Just a step or two at a time.

And reason three echoes reason two: the more universal the condemnation and opposition to Trump, the more certain Trump doesn’t slip in anyway.

Politics - life - is compromise. Sometimes everything goes your way. Usually you have to give a little to get a little. If letting honchos hold onto their own self-image means I never hear President Trump, I’ll take it.

Wait. Is Trump’s “African American” the same black Trump supporter who cold cocked a protester at a rally a couple of months ago?

Gregory Cheadle took no offense when on Friday during a rally, Donald Trump singled him out and asked, “Look at my African-American over here!” At the Friday rally, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was in the middle of describing a past campaign event, at which he said a black supporter “slugged” protesters who were dressed in a “Ku Klux Klan outfit.”

“I want to find out what’s going on with him,” Trump said of the supporter at the previous rally. He then appeared to spot a black person in the audience of Friday’s event at Redding Municipal Airport. “Oh, look at my African-American over here,” an excited Trump said, while pointing into the crowd. “Look at him. Are you the greatest? You know what I’m talking about? OK!” Cheadle, a Republican from Happy Valley in the running for the 1st Congressional District, said he was beaming. “That was me seriously. I got two autographs out of that,” he said.

What’s worse, is that a significant percentage of Americans, probably around 20-25%, look forward to such an Armageddon scenario… Their manufactured and completely man-made End-Times myth. Trump is their man.
