Thanks Charles for helping me with my login glitch! In doublechecking for the third time tonight I figured out that when I had “saved” the username it was coming up as my email address. Who said my momma didn’t raise no dummies? Yeesh……I do hate when I make obvious mistakes I can’t catch myself in a timely fashion. Oh well, the one great thing about getting older is that vanity gets kicked out the window, as well as a perfect memory. So I’ll go catch up on reading the rules and peoples post and take my red face with me.

They’re only happy when they’re terrified or enraged. And Trump hasn’t given them permission yet to go out and kill their enemies, so they’re not getting the terror or rage they crave. But you see plenty of them trying to give the wingnuts the stimulation they need by inventing new threats (IOW, non-white people, people who aren’t Trumpers and/or Nazis, and random people who’ve somehow angered the horde) who they can fear or hate.

“What we haven’t done enough of is encourage more people to openly ridicule stupid ideas,” he says.

“Or at least encourage people to ask questions. I think we’ve been far too polite and far too lenient - at least in my country - on religious fundamentalism.”

That, however, needs to be but one prong of a two-pronged assault.

“We also have not done a good job of teaching science,” he continues. “These are intimately related, because how do you tell the difference between sense and nonsense in this modern political arena filled with ‘alternative facts’?

“We have this problem, and I really do think it stems from teaching science the wrong way. We teach it as if it’s a bunch of facts, but it’s not: it’s a process for deriving facts.”

So yeah, our High Court returned a verdict that deemed a number of our pollies ineligible to stand in parliament including the Deputy PM and Johnny Depp tormentor, Barnaby Joyce and his deputy party leader, Fiona Nash.
So now the ruling Coalition government’s majority has been erased pending a by-election in Joyce’s electorate in December. Now the Labor opposition is calling into question the legitimacy of parliamentary votes Joyce was instrumental in passing.

If, and it’s a big ‘if’, Joyce loses his election bid, Bill Shorten might be PM before Christmas. That’d be hilarious.

Tony Windsor says he is not running - so Joyce will win. It seems Joyce has the unfair advantage. The senators have lost their seats and will be replaced by someone they defeated at the last election. Barnaby Joyce has lost his seat but he can immediately run for reelection. If would be fairer if the seat went to his closest opponent in the last election (who I think was Tony Windsor) - given he was ineligible to stand at that time.

My feeling is that we’re now getting stupid-wave number 2.

By that I mean the Trumpers are starting to move to double down on their investment in the hate-monger-extreme.

This is part of the reason that so many have jumped on the idea that the stories of Trump-badness are nothing but DNC oppo-research from the election.

It’s why some GOP Congressmen are trying to smear those who know better, about Trump.

The hate-right has sunk investment into Trumperism, and now they have to defend their investment.

Yet another sad story of innovative entrepreneurs victimized by government interference in business. Why can’t they just let the market decide?

Russian cannibal couple tried to sell ‘human meat pies’ to restaurants, made snacks for nearby soldiers

A Russian couple who confessed to killing and eating at least 30 people turned soldiers into unknowing cannibals, and tried to sell “human meat pies” to local restaurants, according to authorities.

Dmitry Baksheev and wife Natalia are believed to have given “frozen meat pieces” to personnel at a military academy based near their home in Krasnodar. And the killer couple also tried to get local restaurants to sample their fare.

“She was very active, asked lots of questions but mainly about where we buy our meat and fish and how fresh it is,” local cafe owner Vitaly Yakubenko told the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, according to Metro. “I said that we work only with certified suppliers.”

Renowned Republican cannibal Alferd Packer could certainly sympathize.

Yeah I listened to a long radio interview with Windsor this arvo. I like that he seems so engaged in the problem of the Coalition’s absenteeism over climate change and obviously thinks Joyce is selling out rural Australia fir short-term political gain. I was agreeing with him but as it became clear he wasn’t interested in running I then thought, ‘well why are you talking?’

It’s a bit of a big nothing at the moment, I guess we’ll see whether Turnbull decides to suspend parliament or just holds up business with procedural stuff. Haha their MPs will definitely have to be chained to the house floor, can’t have Labor taking over again like tgey did at the start of the year.

Did you listen to Tanya Plibersek - I thought she spoke really well - sounded much better that Shorten usually does - I guess he was staying out of the way to stop the press questions re the raid of the AWU office - going back to 2006 seems they are really stretching reality here. Conspiraliars are brutalizing innocent people, many of whom have already been victimized by violent criminals. I think drastic measures are justified. At the very least, abusive conspiracy scum should be publicly identified and fired from their jobs, just as the Charlottesville Nazis were. It comes as a surprise to many outhouse lawyers that this is even legal, but it certainly is and there is a long history of case law behind it. Beyond that, many HR professionals are coming to realize that belief in multiply debunked conspiracies, especially if they involve vilification of named people, are a RED FLAG for very serious ethical and intellectual shortcomings. A while back I mentioned the local hotel clerk who bought the whole Alex Jones shit banquet, from Sandy Hook to the Moon landings. I was not a bit surprised to learn that he had been fired and arrested for stealing from the hotel.

Police: Bluffs brawl started after ‘Twerking Olympics’ at bar, ended with ‘small riot’ at Iowa Western dorms

Six Iowa Western Community College students turned themselves over to authorities following an investigation into a brawl on campus in September.

The incident occurred after more than 100 people gathered in the 100 block of West Broadway on Sept. 22 for an event known as “Twerking Olympics.” The event was sponsored by a bar and was not sanctioned by the college.

Twerking is a form of dancing that involves shaking the posterior.

Russia.
Nuclear snap drill, salvo launch, long range bombers with cruise missiles… End to end test as they say. Our guys at the pentagon must have had a busy day. As they should. But how will Trump react? My guess is minimally if at all. He won’t oppose Putin. thedrive.com

Nuclear posturing is becoming far more in vogue than it was just months ago, and it’s not just a foreign phenomenon. NATO just wrapped up a major nuclear exercise, which was clearly aimed at Russia whether they admit it or not. The Pentagon has also becoming far more cavalier when it comes to discussing, if not outright showcasing, its own nuclear capabilities and readiness in recent months. This attitude shift has even spilled over into social media.

With the relationship between the U.S. and Russia at an all time low and a potential conflict with North Korea brewing, not to mention a White House that seems far more casual about nuclear weaponry than past administrations and billions being funneled into new American nuclear weaponry, this “new normal” is likely to get even more pronounced, not less. Even China is becoming more inclined to brandish its strategic weaponry as of late.

But these drills, which likely were an “end to end” test of Russia’s nuclear weapons apparatus, including the complex command and control network that goes along with it, was an especially ominous display.

Now we’ll have to wait to see how Washington reacts.

I’ve been watching Leah Remini’s series exposing Scientology. I knew a little about the abuses, but never understood that everything CoS does is official POLICY — most of it from L. Ron Hubbard who could have been Alex Jones if he hadn’t created a new religion instead. The CoS basically is evil. No wonder Trump likes this woman.

Bear along because this is important. I need a minute to get this off my chest because im a sucker for accuracy and everything lined up nice and neat.

It’s about nets. not butterfly nets or fishing nets. Accounting nets.

remember that bonehead comment SHS made the other day:

“The average American family would get a $4,000 raise under the President’s tax cut plan. So how could any member of Congress be against it?”

OK we all know it was wrong and why - sorta.

And then some smart twitters made an apple analogy:

“If I give 10 apples to one person and no apples to nine people, the average person has one apple. Why are nine people mad at me”

yes this was clever, and it isnt bad - as far as it goes - it’s short, sweet and simple and paints a good picture.

AND IT’S WAY WRONG. Wrong because it is too short and omits too much. And it legitimizes this “net gain” argument.

There are other moving parts here not just the one “what the average person gets”

There’s also what some people have to give up - this is the insidious, criminal part - the other side of the coin buried in the “average” $4k number

It’s not “I” giving 10 apples away to 10 people as if they fell from the government sky
Six of those apples were taken away from other people

Yes, this makes the analogy more complicated. and also more accurate. because it’s not even “an average $4000 raise”. Some people will have actual net losses

And some of those people who are giving up apples dont have any reserve apples of their own while others who are getting most of them ALREADY HAVE LOTS OF APPLES IN THEIR PERSONAL RESERVES.

I said six of those apples were taken away from other people. what about the other 4? Well it’s hard to show deficits in a simple analogy or picture. They are not yet grown, future, fictional apples, for lack of a better way to explain.

The real scenario has to include how many you started with, whether you gained or lost, how many you ended up with, and how many you need to, you know, eat and survive.

The real crime in her statement was not the use of averages. It was the unspoken netting of some pluses and some minuses. It was in not saying that part of those “raises” are paid for with other peoples actual pay cuts.

How to send someone a fake email.

hackernoon.com

Includes this interesting bit of info:

The only thing truly stopping fake From addresses is email authentication using a standard called DMARC. But that only works if the domain you’re trying to fake has published a DMARC record and set it to an enforcement policy. Then, and only then, will almost all email servers that receive messages (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc.) block the faked emails.

Fortunately for fraudsters, most of the Internet’s domains haven’t done this yet. For example, only about 4% of .gov domains have protected themselves.

As for other 96%? Fraudsters can forge emails from those domains all day long with no repercussions.

Domains like justice.gov. house.gov. senate.gov. whitehouse.gov.

A lot of it is the libertarian position that much of white tech bro Silicon Valley culture operates from. There’s an endemic ideological tunnel vision that tends to equate freedom in the abstract with an absolutist tolerance of hateful and damaging supremacist ideologies. Compounding this is the fixation on automating everything, so when the toxicity becomes too much to ignore they try to find a way of coding it rather than admitting moderation needs to be done by people.

It’s natural for computer programmers to try to fix social problems with programs. It’s what we know. It could even work to make the job easier for people if done right.

For example, Facebook could do an automated search of the banner pictures that their users selected, and flag anything with a swastika for human review. They could ban most of the Nazis in a week easily that way. They could do the same with hate speech. There’s no reason to wait for users to flag problem content, when the system could easily do it with existing technology and a small staff to review the output of the automated process.

But in the end, however true this is, the reality is there are a fairly large number of obvious Nazi’s & their fellow travelers in positions of importance at all of the social media companies. The number may be something like 10% but if they’re in place ensuring that holocaust denial meme’s are unpunished and the like? Will the reddit closing of Nazi subredits be real or will it just be cosmetic and the same people will be allowed to set up new ones with less obvious names? My money is on the latter.

But then you have the cases of…well, there are Nazi accounts that are actually actively restricted and blocked in France and Germany because of the laws there. THey’re identified and there’s an algorithm that marks these people to be blocked. But then you have the flip where many are outright verified and given 280 anyhow. They already have the code to take care of this in many ways. They’re not only purposefully not using it unless demanded so by a national law, but they’re again actively catering to these folks. It’s not a matter of faulty coding or failure to game out the long-term results. There are active supporters on the meatspace side of things singling these assholes out to support them. This is beyond libertarian ‘live and let live’ faux idealism. This is prominent people in the company being fellow travelers.

For years been telling my kid, deep in the systems engineering racket, that the code monkeys should form a “guild”. He says it’s antithetical to the IT culture.

I see that at my company. The aeronautical side is unionized. The software group I work in is not, and most of them are conservatives and would never join a union. But they take advantage of the benefits negotiated by the union.

I think being part of a C/C++ Union would be beneficial and a great pun.

The Clinton - Russia collusion angle still makes zero fucking sense.

It makes all the sense in the world long as you remember one single abiding rule:

“Hillary, therefore evil.” It doesn’t have to make sense long as you assume the presence of Hillary automatically makes her the culprit and whatever hypothetical thing she did the grandest sin ever, even as you celebrate the exact same actions from someone non-Hillary.

It makes no fucking sense whatsoever and is simply an attempt to misdirect attention from the bad acts of the Trump campaign and administration, or to otherwise muddy the waters and set the stage to discredit any potential impeachment referral from the Mueller investigation.

Get into the act ya fool ya

Baby, you’re a scumbag you’re rotten to the core

That rambling and repetitive speech was similar to my what my mom had in her early stages. She went downhill fast, to say the least. In two years from diagnosis, she was no longer able to speak. About 10 months after that, she became incontinent and required hospice care.

And not long after that, she passed away.

I can’t remember the name of the disease - it wasn’t Alzheimer’s, but something else and it was particularly aggressive and fast.

At one point the former GM IT workers threatened to join the UAW but then it would have meant “professional salaried” employees making common cause with blue collar workers.

My only first cousin on my mom’s side died in 1990 from mixing cocaine, alcohol and I don’t know what else. She was a 27 YO accountant living in San Francisco. It just broke my heart because she had such a great future ahead of her.

Another key finding:

Northam wins 93% of “strong liberals.”

Gillespie wins only 83% of strong conservatives.

It’s only a key finding if numbers of strong liberals/conservatives within the electorate are reasonably equal, and those numbers are a significant portion of the voters

Coke and alcohol are a really bad combination. The coke will keep a person up and drinking (and babbling like an idiot) long after they would have passed out from the alcohol.

Apparently, the Catalonian Parlament met in secret, and the opposition party was not present for the vote, so there may be some question how legal the secession vote was.

More on that from The Guardian: the opposition were there, but largely refused to take part in the vote:

Dozens of opposition MPs boycotted the secret ballot, marching out of the chamber in Barcelona before it took place and leaving Spanish and Catalan flags on their empty seats in protest.

Hmm, looking at their actions, I would think the exact opposite: that their professed beliefs are actually an excusing device for their worst impulses.

It doesn’t even need to make sense in an actual Christian religious context, it’s more like “How dare you condemn [Self evidently indefensible action] which are part of my Judeo-Christian Values (TM)!”, and that’s it.

As I said a few days ago, if they didn’t loudly profess their faith, then one would have to judge them by their actions, and the results wouldn’t be pretty. By their fruits you shall know them, and all that…

Victoria Toensing, the attorney representing the FBI informant, said there’s “on-the-record quid pro quo” surrounding the deal, with Bill Clinton receiving a $500,000 speaking fee from a Russian bank and the Clinton Foundation getting tens of millions of dollars from people interested in the Uranium One deal.

“My client can put some meat on those bones and tell you what the Russians were saying during that time,” Toensing said.

Yeah…..I dimly remember some of his TV appearances in the 1980’s and early ’90s and while he was insufferable even back then (I went back and double-checked earlier this year), he was quite coherent.

I think something did happen…..something that impaired him on the cognitive level. But what that was, I have no idea.

RIght, I remember as a child in the 90’s. He was always insufferable and a male Paris Hilton (famous for being famous) but he made sense. The past 8 years he’s been downright crazy and incoherent.

The thing is, to the best of my knowledge, no one knows if he’s ever been hospitalized. You would think something like that would make the gossip columns, especially in NYC, but it’s possible that if something did happen, he just threw some hush money at it to make sure it never saw the light of day. And most likely, he’d have some totally hush-hush private medical facility he would go to.

If not, I hope she has some good private security.

Under the Former Presidents Act, former presidents, first ladies, and children under 16 are entitled to secret service protection. Presidents and first ladies get it for life. Nixon has been the only one to relinquish the post-presidency protections

Probably not. I’ve mentioned the idea to a few of my students, and most of them responded quite enthusiastically to the notion. Of course, President Zeman is extraordinarily polarizing here, and most of the students I deal with - professional, highly-educated, widely-travelled - despise Zeman and consider him a foul-mouthed, alcoholic bigot who makes the Czech Republic look bad.

Of course, the potential new government of oligarch Andrej Babiš - and possibly the fanatical xenophobe Tomio Okamura as a silent unofficial partner in a minority government - makes more than a few of my students scream in abject horror.

Mostly because Okamura’s big priority is a “Czexit” out-of-the-EU referendum. And I’d give it a damned good chance of passing.

The median age for presidents when they took office is 55. A 65 age limit would have prevented Trump, Reagan, Harrison, and Buchanan from serving when they did. It would have also prevented GHW Bush, Eisenhower, Taylor, Jackson, and John Adams from seeking a second term.

We tend to elect men in their 50s for the job (25 presidents were in their 50s when they took office). Even if you hold it to the “modern” presidency (post FDR), it’s been mostly mid-50s, early-60s with Kennedy, Clinton, and Obama bringing down the average.

I don’t think the issue with Trump is particularly his age, it’s everything else. Hell, Hillary Clinton is only 15 months or so younger than Trump.

Vaclav Klaus was - and is - an outright wingnut. Unfortunately, there’s wingnuts here too, the majority of them being older than 55, with only secondary education and typically residing in small towns or villages. And frankly, that’s well above 50% of the population.

This is the kind of thing these bullshit religious “liberty” laws do.

They’re not religious liberty laws; they’re Evangelical/Catholic Privilege laws.

Easy way to prove it:

Catholic doctor and nurse at Mt Sinai refuse to participate in an abortion (even if it’s medically necessary, and the woman and fetus both die because it wasn’t done) — can’t be fired, their religious conscience supersedes hospital policy or medical ethics.

Jewish doctor and nurse at St Mary’s hospital perform an abortion (because it’s medically necessary, and the woman and fetus will both die because if it isn’t done) — fired instantly, hospital policy supersedes their religious conscience and medical ethics.

I don’t think OPOWG is going to be a factor in 2020. He caught fire because there was simply no field in 2016. We saw in 2008 that there was a portion of the party that wasn’t very supportive of Hillary Clinton, and it shouldn’t have surprised anyone that something similar would happen in 2016. The problem was that there weren’t any legitimate challengers because of senate and governor results in 2012 and 2014. In a larger, more traditional field, OPOWG would have been Dennis Kucinich rather than a viable alternative.

At the turn of the century I had been working to create and build an Association of Internet Professionals, AIP. We had 10,000+ dues-paid members and then the crash hit. We were considering it a guild, in fact one of the small organizations that we brought Into our fold called itself a guild.

I’m not so sure. Sanders Deadenders really are a cult of personality, and this is driving the ‘Left vs Liberal’ fight more than anything else.

The New Yorker: Why Roy Moore’s Law-School Professor Nicknamed Him Fruit Salad

George Thomas Wilson, a retired magazine-marketing and P.R. professional now living in New York City, has never forgotten his first criminal-law class, at the University of Alabama School of Law, in 1974. It was taught by Clint McGee, who graduated from the law school himself, in 1940. Early in the class, McGee called on one of Wilson’s classmates, a United States Military Academy graduate named Roy Moore. “And, for the entire hour, McGee kept him standing and talking, standing and talking,” Wilson told me recently. “Finally, at the end of the hour, McGee said to him, ‘Mr. Moore, I have been teaching in this school for thirty years, and in all of that time you’re the most mixed-up person I’ve ever taught. I’m going to call you Fruit Salad.”
John D. Saxon, a civil-rights attorney practicing in Birmingham, also took McGee’s class. He confirmed Wilson’s account. “We’re all sitting there just kind of praying. ‘Dear Lord, glad this isn’t me, please help old Roy out.’ But he was totally, hopelessly confused.” Two days later, Saxon said, McGee called on Moore again. “He says, ‘Fruit Salad, take this case.’ ” Roy was puzzled, Saxon said, and McGee repeated himself. “He says, ‘Professor McGee, it’s me, Mr. Moore.’ At which point McGee gets him in front of the room, takes Moore’s hand, and starts turning him in circles. He says, ‘Mr. Moore, you’re all mixed up, like a fruit salad.’ He proceeded to call him Fruit Salad for the rest of law school.” Saxon added, “Years later, I’m watching the ten-o’clock news with my wife and there’s this circuit judge up in Etowah County with this little plaque with the Ten Commandments on the wall behind him, and I said to her, ‘Look, there’s Fruit Salad.’ “

There were other bidders, Whitefish required the least for mobilization.

Not according to Bloomberg:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is investigating a controversial $300 million contract to rebuild Puerto Rico’s power grid, a no-bid award that has drawn scrutiny from Congress and spotlighted the agency’s poor record of policing similar grants.

and The Hill:

The White House’s statement is the second time Friday that a federal office has sought to distance itself from the ongoing controversy over the company, which had only two employees and little experience before Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, decimating its electrical infrastructure. Earlier, the Federal Emergency Management Agency pushed back against accusations that it was involved in Puerto Rico awarding the no-bid contract to Whitefish.

and the NY Post:

The feds said Friday they did not approve a $300 million no-bid contract between Puerto Rico’s power authority and a tiny Montana company with ties to Team Trump to repair the island’s crippled electrical grid.

Of the five companies responding to the solicitation, only Whitefish and Power Secure remained, requiring a payment in advance of $ 25 million. Whitefish was selected for a cap of $ 300 million, of which $ 8 million have been disbursed.

The contract with Cobra Acquisitions is for $ 200 million, and both contracts may increase, warned Ramos.

Following a request made by El Nuevo Día this week, PREPA sent the contracts it signed in the middle of the emergency so that Whitefish, founded in the state of Montana about two years ago, and Cobra Acquisitions restore the power grid.

Looks like we’re in for one hell of a windstorm in the Czech Republic if this forecast bears out.

The west wind will intensify at night on Sunday and Sunday morning. During the afternoon, it begins to gradually change to the northwest and takes the most strength. It will fade until evening, though the wind will still be.

“In locations above 600 m, strong wind will be accompanied by snow, with intense snow showers (in thunderstorms) there may be a temporary decrease in visibility and the creation of snow cover. In the mountains the snow tongues begin to form in places, “warns meteorologists.

The level of danger is extreme, according to the ČHMÚ warning report, there is a risk of material damage on the large territory, transport complications, power outages, forest injuries and life threats.

Meteorologists recommend people to secure windows and doors and remove or fix loose objects. People should not go out, and when they are outside, they should not stay in older buildings where roof tiles or sheets can fall.

Danger is also threatened in the forest and near larger trees. Due to the expected collisions, the trees will be damaged in the underground terrain. This should be remembered even when driving and parking the car.

As per GoogleTranslate.

ČHMU is the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute - sort of the equivalent of the National Weather Service.

The New Yorker: Why Roy Moore’s Law-School Professor Nicknamed Him Fruit Salad

Before he went to law school, Moore commanded a Military Police company in Vietnam.

Serving as the commander of 188th Military Police Company of the 504th Military Police Battalion, Moore was known to be very strict. Some of his soldiers gave him the derogatory nickname “Captain America”, due to his attitude toward discipline. This role earned him enemies, and in his autobiography he recalls sleeping on sandbags to avoid a grenade or bomb being tossed under his cot, as many of his men had threatened him with fragging.

I have to say I know the type. Now, command of a company (or a battalion for that matter) is not a popularity contest, but when you have to change your billeting arrangements for fear of assassination by your own soldiers, you might at least want to consider the possibility that you’re not doing it right. Apparently Moore never did.
It’s possible that Moore’s general shitheadedness is payback for all those smart ass liberals who threatened him with fragging in Vietnam and humiliated him in law school.

They had been waffling back and forth for weeks about whether they were actually separating or not, and only declared independence when it was obvious that Spain was going to dissolve the Catalan government in a couple of hours.

This wasn’t a poor, oppressed minority trying to escape the boot of an oppressive central government. Catalan is a wealthy state, and separatism was being pushed by fairly well-off people, mostly in non-urban areas, who got decades of stories about how they were superior to the Spanish and didn’t want to pay for all those poor people in Bilbao and Madrid to sit around doing nothing. Also, the Russian trolls have been pushing the separatist movement in social media, and the Russian government has been openly supporting the separatists. If this is starting to sound familiar, um, yeah.

Stay safe dude.

They’re forecasting sustained winds in excess of 100 km/h (60 mph) with gusts up to about 120 km/h (75 mph) and up to 160 km/h (100 mph) winds up in the mountains at elevations above 1900 feet.

That’s pretty hardcore for this part of the world. We don’t get windstorms like that too often.

Here’s the major thing about disaster response IRT power restoration:
1) You know the hurricane/ice storm/nor’easter/whatever devastating weather event is on its way.
2) Staging: you have done this so many times now it almost automatic.
3) Get your manpower, equipment and supplies STAGED in an area most conducive to the most rapid response possible.

Yeah I don’t think of the CR when I think of windstorms for sure.

A few years ago, we had an icestorm roll through here; that’s quite rare, thankfully. I’ve had some experience with freezing rain from having lived in the Portland, OR area for about 20 years. You walk nice and slow…..real slow. It took me 15 minutes to walk to the tram from the school; it usually takes me two minutes. I warned a co-worker of mine to walk very carefully….of course, she came out of the school a few minutes after me and promptly fell on her ass.

There were a lot of broken bones - the ER’s here were hopping. And car accidents galore.

I literally caught the last tram home from the city center (that’s about 8 km from where I live). No sooner did I get finally get home and checked out the news on the web, it was just being announced that public transportation throughout the entire Czech Republic had been stopped on order of the Ministry of Transport, with the singular exception of the subway system in Prague.

Heh. Got lucky.

To be honest, if I’m a Dem candidate in 2020 and Sanders is running, I’m asking him what he’s actually accomplished and why should we trust him with the Presidency despite being in Congress since 1990 with a thin resume of accomplishments. I’d also press him on his immigration record that won praise from Steve King no less. Sanders can and should be attacked from the left.

I think we know absolutely zip about how 2020 is going to play out. US politics at the Presidential level works on backlash. Obama was the backlash to W, Trump was the backlash to Obama, and we’re going to get a hell of a backlash to Trump when all is said and done. Before he went to law school, Moore commanded a Military Police company in Vietnam.

Moore had recently returned from Vietnam, where he’d been a military-police officer. Some who served under Moore there had referred to him, with sarcasm, as “Captain America,” chafing at his egoist style of command. One such officer, Barrey Hall, told the Associated Press, in 2003, that Moore’s “policies damn near got him killed in Vietnam. He was a strutter.”
