But it’s Trump’s lackeys who are actually going to prison.

Christian podcaster: ‘God is using Trump to put Obama and Hillary in jail for treason’

Mark Taylor, a far-right Christian-themed conspiracy theorist who calls himself the “Firefighter Prophet,” appeared on the USAWatchdog this weekend and gave his latest prediction. In short, Trump is getting reelected and Obama is going to prison for treason.

“Donald Trump is not going anywhere,” Taylor says in a clip flagged by Right Wing Watch. “He’s here for two terms, period. He will win the second term, it won’t even be a contest. If they thought the first one was a runaway train, wait for the next election.”

Taylor added that God told him that Obama would end up being “charged for treason” and will “go to prison, along with a ton of other people.”

“The word that God gave me talked about judges, senators, congressmen and women at the local, state, and federal levels that God himself was going to expose.”

re: #414 Belafon

It’s not the cheating, it’s the hiding. Not only was the hiding wrong from the POV of not informing the electorate, but it opened him to blackmail.

No, not really. Trump has affairs. It’s part of his brand. How exactly do you blackmail a guy who married the mistress who he cheated on his 2nd wife with, who was the mistress who he cheated on his first wife with…based on cheating?

If it was Obama, Hillary, Cruz, Romney, etc…sure that’s valid calculus. This is “I grab them by the pussy, and they don’t stop me” guy, a month before the election.

The Russians have kompromat on Trump but it has nothing to do with his sex life. It’s about how much money he has and how he makes it.

We’ve just lost the smoke cover over the weekend. A brief rain spell seems to have cleared the skies of the very visibly noticeable haze.

Lane hasn’t moved as far north as expected, though it will move north.

Australian government is in crisis - just about every Minister has resigned, the “government” has closed Parliament and we are adjourned until September.

Our conservative government is tearing itself apart over what type of conservative party they are - hard right and reactionary or socially progressive/fiscally conservative.

It’s an absolute farce.

He’s in hock to the oligarchs past the tips of his combover. They own his ass and they keep him on a tight leash. He has to beg for his allowance and show them what a good boy he is. That is why he likes to pretend that his opponents “begged him” for something.

It almost feels reflexive. None of his campaign folks were really good or experienced non-corrupt strategists. It’s like, oh an affair is about to leak, okay, let’s stop that from happening cause that’s what you do for politicians. NDAs, funny money moves and cover-ups are our wheelhouse so that’s what we’re going with.

While that’s true, the criminal enterprise is being dismantled one piece at a time. Trump himself may be untouchable while the Republicans are in control of both houses of Congress, but if either of those conditions change - if he fails to be elected, or if the Democrats take control - then that piece is also vulnerable to being removed.

I don’t exactly know about him paying hookers, I haven’t seen those stories. Trump has been dating “models” forever. Nobody is accusing him of paying these women for sex. At that time they are discussing these payments (Aug-Oct 2016), everyone knows Trump is a serial philanderer, and has known it for 30 years. This is an article from like, the SAME WEEK the payments were made, discussing Trump’s serial infidelity. Known. Fucking. Quantity.

They are too stupid to even realize when they don’t need to cover something up.

Edit: Sorry…this article came out a week before the payments were made.

Well, a couple of seconds Googling revealed that there IS some vague grain of truth behind the Orange Anus’ tweet: the South African government IS currently debating proposals for (what seems to be fairly large-scale) land nationalization of some sort: though the “large-scale killing” part seems to be mainly racist fantasizing: so of course Trump tweets it….

There is more than a grain of truth. I haven’t been able to figure out exactly how the South African government wants to decide which farms to expropriate, but there has been a long term goal to return something like 30% of farmland to blacks on the theory the whites originally swiped it from them. The killing part seems like Trump is conflating it with the history of land expropriation in Zimbabwe, with an extra bit of drama thrown in.

Harley-Davidson has been in the news lately. Here’s the local angle in my hometown paper:

Harley sales hurting
Shukan Jitsuwa (Aug. 23-30) reported that Murayama Motors, a major outlet for Harley-Davidson motorcycles located in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward, recently filed for bankruptcy in the Tokyo District Court.
Over the previous decade Harley sales in Japan were boosted somewhat by the affluent middle-aged demographic, but as Japan’s baby boomers age, they are replacing choppers for walkers. Another factor seems to be the gradual phasing out of the internal combustion engine.
“As with passenger cars, two-wheeled vehicles are in the process of switching to electric motors,” said a source in the trade. “This means not only Harley, but established Japanese manufacturers such as Honda … are being challenged by new business startups and can no longer depend on the strengths of their brand image.”
While annual domestic motorcycle sales in 2017 grew by about 10 percent over the previous year to reach 383,613 units, the number is just a fraction of the figure for the peak year, 1980, when about 2.3 million were sold.

These people have unlimited choice, resources and leisure at their feet. We are fighting all of it from so many angles and I will try not to punch down when we lose a battle because they have such an embedded systemic advantage and they know it. People are trying, trying so hard and they get tired and they still have to make sure they can eat and take a sick loved one to the doctor. They will push more on us because they are rewarded for it in our exhaustion even if we beat them on that one thing. We’ve had some huge wins. Huge ones. But we can’t be niave about the dynamics at play here and we need to calculate that into part of the response.

I’d only add what we’ve learned about our institutions.

Institutions are only as good as the people who occupy positions of power within them. Ultimately, it always comes down to the people, the individuals, in positions of power. If they are good/decent people, we have a chance; if they are not good/decent people… we have less of a chance.

It is also why power should be as diffused as possible. And then, for good measure, set against each other.

en.wikipedia.org

The AWB flag is composed of three black sevens forming a triskelion in a white circle upon a red background, resembling the flag of Nazi Germany. According to AWB, the sevens, ‘the number of final victory’, ‘stand to oppose the number 666, the number of the anti-Christ’. Red is considered to represent Jesus’ blood and the struggle of the Christians, while black stands for bravery. The inner white circle symbolises the “purity” and “eternal life”.

My Da was from Denver and A basin was his favorite hill. We had gone up the day previously and there was a dump of about 4” inches of heavy wet with around 12” inches of sweet powder on top of it that night.

It was February, 1969, I had just turned thirteen, my brother 10 1/2. Da was getting ready to deploy to Chu Lai, flying F-4’s for a year. Went up to the top of the basin with our Da. Cut some some slow lazy esses up top and then went into one of the moderate steeps where I started sitting back and chopping left/right cuts as we got into the trees, keeping the speed down. We had all day.

Little brother yelled “Woo-hoo!” and busted down the hill. The powder was deep enough that even sitting back and juking, the only thing I could see was the furrows of the tips moving the snow unless I bumped up and cleared snow. Got into a small chute, got some speed and my right ski furrow disappeared. Felt a tug on the right and tried to step out of the binding while throwing myself to the left.

Ended up going ass over teakettle and landed on my back, head downhill, legs up in the air. Pushed the powder away, sputtering and half-blind, and twisted my body so my legs were pointed downhill. Then I wondered why my left ski tip was pointy and my right ski tip, which was about 60 degrees off center, was square.

Then the pain hit and I squealed like a pig. My right ankle had rotated about 120 degrees to the right. My Da was sidestepping it uphill yelling “Be calm! Don’t look at it!”
Which was the worst advice I had ever heard. How can you not look at a joint that had done something impossible?

No cell phones, of course. My Da yelled “Ski Patrol! Injury!” at the next guy who came through, and about twenty minutes later guys in the brightly colored vests showed up.

Ski off, on the sledge, my Da stomping uphill and finding the branch that had cracked and fallen under the first heavy snow the night before, then covered with powder. A land mine.

So, that’s my history with Marker Rotomat bindings. Ten weeks on crutches. My younger brother laughing at me for getting fucked up. My Da heading off to the ‘Nam again two months later, where he would return with a Legion of Merit with a combat V, a Presidential Unit Citation, a fistful of Air Medals, and a Hanson Award,

re: #81 calochortus

There is more than a grain of truth. I haven’t been able to figure out exactly how the South African government wants to decide which farms to expropriate, but there has been a long term goal to return something like 30% of farmland to blacks on the theory the whites originally swiped it from them. The killing part seems like Trump is conflating it with the history of land expropriation in Zimbabwe, with an extra bit of drama thrown in.

Dogwhistling and preying on dark fears of a Mau-Mau uprising…always goes down well with the base.

Four-legged swastika is banned so these creative geniuses are constantly coming up with ways of getting around it. Like wearing a “Lonsdaple” T-shirt with an open shirt over it covering up the first and last two letters revealing only “NSDAP”

Of course I’m just guessing, but I don’t think blackmail enters into this for any of these guys (the Pauls, Rohrabacher, trump, etc.).

I truly believe they are just doing it of their own volition.

So Manafort would have been convicted of all 18 counts if it weren’t for one MAGA moron jury member:

Duncan described herself as an avid supporter of President Trump, but said she was moved by four full boxes of exhibits provided by Mueller’s team - though she was skeptical about prosecutors’ motives in the financial crimes case.

“Certainly Mr. Manafort got caught breaking the law, but he wouldn’t have gotten caught if they weren’t after President Trump,” Duncan said of the special counsel’s case, which she separately described as a “witch hunt to try to find Russian collusion.”

But just to make herself feel better, Duncan wore her MAGA hat on her drive home each day after court and plans to vote for Trump again in 2020.

South Africa to Trump - ‘Shut the fuck up, old man.’

The South African government lashed out at President Donald Trump on Thursday after he tweeted that his administration would be looking into farm seizures and the “large scale killing of farmers” in South Africa.

The government said Trump’s tweet was based on “false information” and reflected a “narrow perception which only seeks to divide our nation and reminds us of our colonial past.” It said it was meeting with the U.S. Embassy on Thursday as it seeks to clarify Trump’s remarks.

[…]

“People are not being targeted because of their race, but because they are vulnerable and isolated on the farms,” said Gareth Newham, head of the crime and justice program at the Institute for Security Studies in the capital, Pretoria.

“There is no white genocide in South Africa,” Julius Malema, leader of the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters party, told reporters. “There is black genocide in the USA; black people are killed every day. There is a black genocide here in South Africa; just recently a farmer was convicted for the murder of a black farmer.”

Manafort even shivved Christie when it looked like Trump was about to pick him, with that phony story about something being wrong with the plane in order to get Trump to stay in Indiana for another day so Pence could give him one more pitch.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area.

Trump’s grasping at straws and trying to deflect and project as always.

It just feels a bit more desperate today because his two buddies - Manafort and Cohen are now convicted felons thanks to actions taken on behalf of Trump or exposed thanks to their relations to Trump.

Everyone around Trump is complicit and compromised. The remaining questions are what crimes were committed, how many indictments, plea deals, convictions, and pardons are still to be done.

Trump needs to deflect and project. He needs for his base to continue to buy in to his baffling BS. He needs to gin up the white nationalist/white supremacist bulkshit that keeps his base engaged.

That’s why he’s talking about South Africa.

That’s why his admin is fixated on the death of Mollie.

That’s why DeVos is fixated on trying to divert education funds to allow teachers to buy guns with it (instead of buying actual school supplies that students need and often need fundraisers to get).

It’s all about pushing fear and loathing to get the GOP base to do the bidding of the elite GOP millionaires, which is fixated like a laser beam on tax cuts for themselves and burden shifting to everyone else.

We will find out that he doesn’t have a penny to his name. That all the properties he allegedly “owns” belong to Russian oligarchs. If there is any justice left at DOJ why is payment by Hillary Clinton and DNC to FusionGPS for the phony Steele dossier not under investigation. On your theory in Cohen plea it’s an illegal campaign contribution.Let’s go DOJ wake up. where’s the indictment. Clintons not above law

They’re way more awake than you think, old man.

rudy,
the payments were expenditures BY the dnc and clinton campaigns. on their books.

trump/cohen payments to daniels (et al?) were in-kind contributions because they were paid on behalf of the trump campaign and NOT by the trump campaign. AND THEN NOT REPORTED TO THE CAMPAIGN AND/OR FEC

Pacheco, who told the magazine he was a gay Latino immigrant, defended his actions.

“I am cooperating with the police investigation,” Pacheco said. “I don’t feel I’ve done anything wrong based on the laws and the circumstances of what happened.”

He suggested the investigation was tilted against him because the alleged victims were “white middle-aged people,” and he complained that he was being “demonized” as a “neo-Nazi.”

We met last week and I asked him what’s up in their politics and he said it was as crazy as everywhere. He said they used to have a pretty good centrist government, but since Trump and Brexit and all that is going on in Europe they are now splitting into far left and far right and it’s messing the country up socially.

Trump’s trying to push Sessions aside.

Sessions was one of the first to endorse Trump (Collins and Hunter were 1/2). That means it’s only a matter of time before Sessions is also indicted on federal charges (and no this isn’t sarcasm - Sessions has knowledge of meetings, engaged in contacts with Russian foreign agents and lied about it, and lied to Congress during his confirmation hearing).

So, Trump’ll dump Sessions and then find someone to be AG - which puts him in even greater legal jeopardy as Sessions himself could be a focus of Mueller and other federal prosecutors as this progresses.

400
dangerman  Aug 23, 2018 • 9:28:46am

as an aside, let’s remember something about the mueller investigation every time someone spouts “see no collusion” - like re manafort and cohen

there are three essential parts:

- whether / how the Russian government interefered in the election
- any possible link/coordination between Trump’s campaign and the Russian government
- other matters that may arise or be uncovered

the first one is the primary one - it’s the big one
that’s the threat to the nation and the driver behind the whole thing

this is not an investigation of trump or the trump campaign
and it was not designed to accuse, indict, or clear trump or the campaign

The answer may lie in how Trump and his supporters define corruption. In a forthcoming book titled How Fascism Works, the Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley makes an intriguing claim. “Corruption, to the fascist politician,” he suggests, “is really about the corruption of purity rather than of the law. Officially, the fascist politician’s denunciations of corruption sound like a denunciation of political corruption. Well, it’s interesting. The brand name is Adrienne Vittadini and Snopes rates it mostly false, but when you read the article, I find it hard to understand why. They are rebranding the Ivanka brand with the Vittadini label (removing labels and putting new labels on her stock because the name sucks so bad), so, perhaps it is that she doesn’t own the Vittadini brand but it is just being used to sell her shit.

I call this same shit with a different label, both for her crappy lines and the concept that it’s not being sold under a different label.

Pecker is low hanging fruit and not the target.

Low rungs get deals to implicate those higher up.

Prosecutors think Pecker has more information of note on people above - namely Trump personally and directly, and in ways that Cohen doesn’t.

That’s notable in and of itself. After all, if Pecker didn’t have noteworthy info to prosecutors, why would they bother with an immunity deal. They could prosecute him on the same kind of federal crimes as Cohen cut a deal on.

And Sessions would sell Trump down the river faster than he can send immigrants back over the border.

Jeff Sessions is a little snake and backstabber. No way he lets Trump off. In fact it would be pay-back city for the last year and a half of what Sessions would see as Trump abuse.

Trump doesn’t seem to realize all he is doing is creating more and more enemies as he goes. Which is probably what happened in all his businesses too.

re: #434 MsJ

Trump and Pecker are longtime friends. Pecker may have more info on things Trump confided in him, or told him in “confidence” that could lead to other criminal charges.

Prosecutors don’t just grant immunity for the heck of it. They get something of value from it - because it advances a case.

It could be in the form of corroborating what Cohen said, which is plausible, and we’re learning about it now after Cohen’s guilty plea deal.

But it comes back to the same thing - Pecker had to offer something of value to get a deal.

Trump engaged in high crimes as the unindicted coconspirator on multiple federal felonies with Cohen. Had Trump had a (D) after his name, the GOP would have already impeached. Instead, they protect his criminally corrupt admin.

Trump could have long been brought up on charges of conflict of interest, obstruction of justice and egregious violations of the Emoluments Clause, Mueller is working on presenting a case they cannot afford to ignore.

Wow!! Lindsey is scum. He has no morals whatsoever. So he’s pretty much encouraging Trump to take steps towards shutting down Mueller’s investigation.

I think he’s being blackmailed by the Russians, and have got a theory. One thing that links Trump, Rand Paul, and Lindsey Graham at the least, is that they have been on-again off-again long shot candidates for President. So they would be far more vulnerable to compromise than the conventional candidates, but the effort could still pay off big if they got lucky.

For all the shit that’s been revealed, we’re only getting started. The rot is pervasive, and links all of these fuckers, and beyond that an entire world network of trillions of dollars of dirty money. It’s been ignored (deliberately) for ages, but now that the international criminal class won a battle they were better off losing, enough people are pulling enough strings that a lot of this could come down.

Pecker’s specialty was ‘catch and kill’ - buying the rights to a story and then not publishing them. There may be a story or two in there that we don’t know about yet.

Also, Pecker seemed to deal with that hack Keith Davidson, who acted as Stormy Daniels’ ‘lawyer’ (and the Playmate’s, too) while working with Cohen to keep their stories quiet. Pecker may have some insights on that stuff, too.

Like Lawhawk said, Pecker’s got info that Team Mueller considers of value or he wouldn’t have gotten immunity. He probably knows about all kinds of stuff (like that Broidy payoff). I wouldn’t be surprised if among that stuff there’s a tale about Trump avoiding bringing another little Trump into the world.

As you can guess, the Urban Myers (Ohio State Football Coach) mess is big news in Columbus today.

I’ve been listening to some local sports radio call in stuff and damn you can easily pick out the rabid Trumpers. Donny has affected everything.

So many callers are jumping on “The Media” and how they are all out to bring Myers down. One guy said “the media likes to think they are the gatekeepers. Just do your damn jobs and give us the facts!” The poor guy at the station was trying to tell him bringing up facts is gatekeeping and allowing everyone to know what is going on and you can make your own judgments. Caller was not having it. “This is why we can’t trust the media…you all lie!”

Yep, it is going to take a lot to clear out Trump thinking. Amazing what a year and a half can do to a country. It does show that these people have been here all along. All they needed was someone to latch onto to let the hate of everything fly. Trump was that guy. And he knew he could run a successful campaign based on America’s worst. Says a lot about our country.

I still think Mueller is acting like a traffic coordinator. He is purposely creating crashes to watch the reactions and then note it all and see what it leads to. Others, like Stone and the younger Trumps have green lights to keep on doing what they are doing. They may get sent into dead ends and bridge out messes a bit later as needed.

We still have zero info coming from him and his group of investigators. Meanwhile everyone is losing it over all the speculation and trying to second guess and position themselves. Which may be exactly what Mueller wants.

Good take.

If you read the Cohen Information, which is essentially the charging document, it makes clear that the Trump/Enquirer arrangement wasn’t just a friend keeping an eye out for his friend - the way the relationship and modus operandi had been portrayed in the media. It was a very specific arrangement: The Enquirer would troll for Trump-damaging stories, which there were obviously going to be a lot of, buy them and then sell them to Trump. The last part is key; and we didn’t know that until Tuesday. This wasn’t just being a pal. It was a specific, standing financial arrangement. The Enquirer would essentially act as a cut-out, buying stories on Trump’s behalf without the seller of the story knowing what was happening.

It was a great convenience. It’s obviously inherently difficult to Trump to purchase stories about his affairs from former mistresses or sex partners. Obviously he did that too. But in many cases it was going to be easier for the Enquirer to trick the sellers by making them think they were selling their story to a publisher rather than Trump.

It’s one thing to do something like this as an individual. But the Enquirer was doing this as a company, with multiple employees involved. Given the various ancillary crimes involved and the potential forother crimes that remain uncharged, that’s a big problem and a real threat to the company.

Pecker’s empire is at stake here. He’d rather burn Cohen (and by extension, Trump) than lose his cash cow.

No, he shouldn’t be living beyond his means, but I think the point was those means aren’t quite what they would be to someone with a single residence in St. Louis or somewhere.

Yeah—most residents of St. Louis don’t go on pricey Italian and Hawaiian vacations…or buy hundreds of dollars of tequila shots at bachelor parties…or spend 4 nights at pricey hotels with persons other than their wives…or fly their bunnies cross-country. (At least I don’t think they do.)

again though that’s true for everybody everywhere

cant get healthcare where you live? move
no more union protection? negotiate another job or move
plant (coal mine) closing? move

health crisis, car accident, hurricane damage, whatever
your wages not keeping up with your personal situation? get a 2nd or 3rd job, or go without, like you tell us to do

no they didnt go on public assistance or ask for help (i assume)
they got desperate
they essentially borrowed from their banks (at exorbitant effective rates) by overdrawing their accounts - effectively loans without the bother of qualifying (or being rejected)
then they stole campaign funds

these are ‘options’ most of us don’t have

That’s some story.

Pecker’s apparent decision to corroborate Cohen’s account, and implicate Trump in a federal crime, is another vivid example of how isolated Trump is becoming as the walls close in and his former friends look for ways out. “Holy shit, I thought Pecker would be the last one to turn,” a Trump friend told me when I brought up the news. Trump and Pecker have been close for years. According to the Trump friend, Pecker regularly flew on Trump’s plane from New York to Florida. In July 2013, Trump tweeted that Pecker should become C.E.O. of Time magazine. “He’d make it exciting and win awards!”

During the 2016 campaign, Pecker provided invaluable media support to Trump by regularly attacking his Republican rivals and Hillary Clinton. At times, it seemed like the Enquirer operated as a de-facto arm of the campaign. In October 2015, I reported that Trump aides were a source for an Enquirer article exposing Ben Carson’s malpractice lawsuits (“Bungling Surgeon Ben Carson Left Sponge in Patient’s Brain!”). Pecker denied it at the time. In June, The Washington Post reported that the Enquirer routinely sent stories to Trump to review prior to publication. (The Enquirer denied that as well.) During the transition, rumors circulated that Trump was considering Pecker for a prime ambassadorship. Last summer, Pecker reportedly brought an adviser to Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman to meet Trump in the Oval Office to help him expand A.M.I.’s business.

But that was before federal prosecutors investigating Cohen subpoenaed A.M.I. Pecker’s friendship with Trump now seems to be over. According to a source close to A.M.I., Pecker and Trump haven’t spoken in roughly eight months. Howard remains particularly angry at Trump, two people close to Howard told me. “There is no love lost,” one person familiar with Howard’s thinking said. Another person said Howard “hates Trump” and feels “used and abused by him.”

Holy shit, I just connected a few dots while reading this paragraph of that Vanity Fair piece:

It’s likely that more Trump relationships will be stress-tested in the weeks to come as Trump’s legal peril escalates. Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis has given a series of cable-news interviews intimating that Cohen has valuable and damaging information on Trump to share with Mueller—including the claim that Trump had foreknowledge of Russia’s hacking of Clinton’s e-mails. One source close to Cohen told me Cohen wants to tell Mueller that Trump discussed the release of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s e-mails during the weekend when the Access Hollywood “grab ‘em by the pussy” tape dominated the news cycle.

Does this sound familiar? Last week it was Omarosa all over the news so “let’s remove someone’s security clearance” then talk came afterwards of them planning to do the same whenever some bad news dropped. Looks like they were running a play they’ve done before based on that line. In other words, I bet Trump knew about ALL the emails and had them leaked when necessary.

The source added that Trump is even considering taking clearances from former members of his administration, including former national security adviser H.R. McMaster and secretary of state Rex Tillerson.

What still amazes me is the Trumpers who, when presented with evidence of criminal activity, just keep saying the Democrats do all this and more, but no one holds them responsible. I ask why the Trump administration (which includes, not incidentally, the DOJ) doesn’t go after the Dems with at least one or two indictments and in one case got a lot of bullshit about the separation of powers prevents it and besides Trump can’t do everything at once, and remember how Ford pardoned Nixon. I still have no clue what the latter had to do with anything.
Another weird response was remember when Obama was going to charge Bush with war crimes and then he didn’t? (Well, actually no, but do go on.) I suggested that if he did maybe when he got to actually be president he found out no crimes had been committed? That earned me a completely irrelevant response starting with “Dear Sock Puppet.”
