Video: The Latest on the Fourth Criminal Indictment Against Donald Trump Potentially Coming This Week

Law • Views: 13,205

All eyes are on Fulton County, Georgia, as the District Attorney there presents evidence this week in her case against Donald Trump. The ex-president is accused of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election and pressuring officials to break the law. Ana Cabrera is joined by NBC News correspondent Blayne Alexander, as well as Greg Bluestein, Political reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Gwen Keyes Fleming, former District Attorney in neighboring Dekalb county.

Atlanta prosecutors appeared Monday to inadvertently reveal the offenses with which they plan to charge former President Donald Trump in connection with his bid to overturn the 2020 election result in Georgia.

A two-page docket briefly posted and then removed from the Fulton County court’s website showed the 77-year-old former president facing charges including racketeering, conspiracy and false statements, according to Reuters.

The two-page document cites the “Violation Of The Georgia Rico (Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations) Act,” “Solicitation Of Violation Of Oath By Public Officer,” “Conspiracy To Commit False Statements and Writings” and “Conspiracy To Commit Forgery in the First Degree,” among other charges listed.

I wonder if the docket entry is the proposed charges that the DA is presenting to the grand jury, prepared in the event of indictment (because you KNOW, the instant the indictment is handed down, millions of people are going to hammer that docket looking for that document). That list of charges spells “serious fucking trouble,” to me, but IANAL (and especially not in by-God-Georgia).

He doesn’t make a deal. His ego is far too bloated to ever admit to any kind of wrongdoing. He thinks he can beat the rap, that he’s untouchable - nay, he actually thinks he’s innocent of all charges, because he was “just trying to help the country,” or because “a sitting President can’t be indicted,” or because “it’s election interference to prosecute a Presidential candidate (except Hillary),” or any number of other excuses he can come up with. He genuinely thinks he’s not only above the law, but above reproach.

Cutting a plea deal over election interference that does not involve Trump admitting criminal guilt in the matter, loss of the 2020 election, and also serving time would make our election system open season since it cements the fact that the GOP can lie, cheat, and steal elections without suffering any meaningful consequences.

Rapamycin in the context of Pascal’s Wager: generative pre-trained transformer perspective

In this article, we collaborate with ChatGPT, an AI model developed by OpenAI to speculate on the applications of Rapamycin, in the context of Pascal’s Wager philosophical argument commonly utilized to justify the belief in god. In response to the query “Write an exhaustive research perspective on why taking Rapamycin may be more beneficial than not taking Rapamycin from the perspective of Pascal’s wager” ChatGPT provided the pros and cons for the use of Rapamycin considering the preclinical evidence of potential life extension in animals. This article demonstrates the potential of ChatGPT to produce complex philosophical arguments and should not be used for any off-label use of Rapamycin.

Instead of legally adopting Oher, the 14-page petition states that, less than three months after Oher turned 18 in 2004, the Tuohys tricked him into making them his conservators. The move is typically reserved for managing the personal and/or financial matters for someone who is of age but incapable of doing so themselves. Oher alleges the Tuohys cashed in on his fame with the power of the conservatorship. Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy allegedly struck a deal that paid them and their children millions in royalties from The Blind Side, in which Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of Leigh Anne, while the film itself grossed more than $300 million worldwide. The 37-year-old Oher allegedly didn’t receive those same royalties, even as the central figure of the movie.

Mr. President, I cannot stand these people that are destroying our country, that are opening our borders, that are weaponizing our federal law enforcement against patriotic Americans who love this nation as we should. We are having a great time at the fair, we love standing with you, but we know that only through force do we make any change in a corrupt town like Washington, D.C.

DeSantis has “moved on” because Florida’s economy is rapidly going into the shit crapper due in large part with his cynical and brain-dead attacks on Floridian citizens and companies.

Already this summer my county’s tax receipts from tourist taxes are down 1% YoY. These sort of DeSantis Republican attacks on business are turning off tourists from visiting Florida en mass and will be having an effect on voters showing up for the polls.

In addition, the once red hot housing market here has cooled to the point that house prices are starting to fall at an alarming clip. Local realtors are reporting closing prices falling double digits under last year. Besides their own tribal hate and prejudices, the main thing conservatives prioritize is their bank accounts and these sorts of attacks on the economy are the ONE thing they will give them pause on their assaults on people not them. DeSantis is done nationally. Really the only thing is will the utterly corrupt Florida Legislature change things to allow this term-limited turd to run again as Governor.

The earliest instance located by QI was in a collection of essays published in 1972 titled “Who is the Chairman of This Meeting?” A chapter called “Conversations with North American Indians” contained comments made by Alanis Obomsawin who was described as “an Abenaki from the Odanak reserve, seventy odd miles northeast of Montreal.” (The book uses the spelling Obomosawin.) In the pre-Trump days, the social conservatives/reactionaries would get some to air their grievances against the modern world during campaigns but would typically be ignored in all but the most superficial matters of policy. It was always the tax rate guys that won on domestic matters - mostly because “we want to cut your taxes” is a much easier sell to most people than “we want to bar your cousin from marrying his boyfriend and prevent you from getting a divorce.”

But the old three part coalition that made up the Republican Party had been falling apart for a while. And then Trump decided to give the reactionaries what they wanted and now it’s basically dead.

“…Right-wing influencers are losing their minds over a new country song that just appeared on streaming services today. “Rich Men North of Richmond” is a passionate screed against the state of the country sung by Oliver Anthony, who identifies as a farmer living off the grid with his three dogs in Farmville, Virginia.”

It’s rare that you have a criminal tamper with a witness in plain view of the entire nation. A violation of Georgia law, likely to be added to his indictment, and a violation of Judge Chutkan’s protective order. I would not be surprised if she scheduled a hearing this week and required Trump in attendance.

But isn’t this violation for the Georgia case and not the DC case? So not in Chutkan’s purview?

re: #155 Unabogie

I know what pareiadolia is. It seems to be fairly common in west Texas in fact. While I was living in Lubbock we had a case of Jesus allegedly appearing in a chocolate stain on the wall of a house in nearby Lorenzo, Texas. Thousands of pilgrims showed up to view it, much to the consternation of the five person local police force. The devoted lined up around the block, some of them in hospital beds. Another mass of gullibles descended on a local Catholic church to view an apparition of Jesus in the shadows cast by tree branches on a wall of the church.
I wish I were making this up.
Pastor Alex, though, is indeed satire and I confess that I invented Chef Xyzlthorn out of thin air, with some thick clouds added of course.

He was ordered not to commit a crime, which witness tampering is, so even though the witness was testifying in Georgia, Trump violated Chutkan’s order.

Where Things Stand: RFK Jr. Applies His Just-Asking-Questions Gambit To Abortion Politics Too

Yesterday he said that he backs a 15 week ban on abortion.

Today Cuckoo For Cocoa Puffs says he was misunderstood…

During an exchange with an NBC News reporter at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, Kennedy said, “I believe a decision to abort a child should be up to the women during the first three months of life,” but added: “Once a child is viable, outside the womb, I think then the state has an interest in protecting the child.” He then went on to say that he would support a national ban on abortion at 15-weeks or possibly 21-weeks, only for his campaign to later clarify that he does not, in fact, support any type of federal restrictions on the procedure.

“Today, Mr. Kennedy misunderstood a question posed to him by a NBC reporter in a crowded, noisy exhibit hall at the Iowa State Fair,” his campaign said. “Mr. Kennedy’s position on abortion is that it is always the woman’s right to choose. He does not support legislation banning abortion.”

The legal system is more than prepared, and the prison system is more than capable of housing someone as infamous and nefarious as The Don…granted, there won’t be an omelete bar in his cell, but he will get a plastic spork to eat with at meals.

I think the question you’re really asking is, “Is the US media ready and capable to handle the facts of a trial for a defendant like this?” - and the answer to that is, maybe?

I want to see just one judge throw him into jail for a weekend, with the warning that another offense will mean bail is revoked through the trial. I have a feeling that would produce exemplary behavior for a long time.

And I’m sitting on a cruise ship in New York harbor, it’s overcast, not too hot, and the Statue of Liberty is off in the middle distance. These days my vacations always seem to happen when I want to be glued to the news, but this is okay.

A tug boat just blew by, so we should be moving soon. Next stop, Halifax.

The problem is more the political system (namely the GOP) in the time of Trump and its reaction — and the devout cult members who may very well take violent measures to object to the continued attempts to hold Trump accountable for his crimes. Certainly Matt Gaetz heated rhetoric suggests that the party will not accept any efforts at justice.

Getting Al Capone for tax evasion as opposed to any of his more serious crimes is a precedent that comes to mind.

What’s new with the Trump trial is that the US has never dealt with a mob boss trial in which the bosses organization isn’t the Mafia (or the like), it’s the Republican party.
