Ahmadinejad Demands Apology from Obama

World • Views: 1,864

Iranian thug in chief Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is following the “belligerent tyrant” script to the letter; he’s demanding an apology from Barack Obama, and accusing Obama of behaving like George W. Bush.

Meanwhile, the demonstrations are subsiding, due to overwhelming force and brutality from Iranian security forces and Basij militia.

Obama will probably apologise that there were protests too.

I don't think 0 needs the teleprompter to apologize for America's greatness. Hatred for America is his inner being.

16 Nevergiveup  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 10:13:28am

"behaving like George Bush"? I guess that's an insult. I'd take it as a badge of courage but then that's just me?

17 lawhawk  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 10:13:47am

But curiously, a strong majority of the Parliament were no shows to Ahmadinejad's inaugural party. That's a pretty ballsy move considering that Ahmadinejad considers himself the law unto himself and Khamenei doesn't mind that the election was stolen.

More here.

Of course Ahmadinejad is playing the totalitarian dictator role to a tee. It was a match made in Hell, and he's been practicing ever since he rose to power.

Just because these protests appear to have subsided doesn't mean that this is over. It isn't over, not when the Parliament has stood up in that fashion.

Watch for Ahmadinejad to deal with that shortly - perhaps in the same fashion that Saddam did when Saddam first rose to power - taking the opposition outside and having them shot.

All pretense of Iranians having a voice are dropping away. This is a dictatorship, and it's time the rest of the world acknowledge as much.

18 Sharmuta  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 10:13:49am

It's a bit ironic that the excuse for 0bama not making a stronger statement in favor of the Iranian people was so that America wouldn't be used as propaganda that the protests were the work of outside forces, yet the regime used the US to promote that propaganda anyways.

There is nothing to apologize for, and 0bama best tell these thugs he's not doing it.

Them's fightin' words.

Gotta say, though, that I can understand the Persian paranoia. After all, the CIA toppled one government in 1952 and re-installed the Shah and the Brits have meddling in their politics for years before that. It still makes them look silly to us when they play that card, though.

President Obama: I'm terribly sorry if I haven't made myself clear. I confess there are times when I'm not as direct as I might be. So here goes:

I'm sorry if you ever, even for a moment, misunderstood my position. I think you're a murdering bastard, a brutal dictatorial little piece of crap, and couldn't be happier if the brave people of Iran overthrow your ass.

I'm also sorry if I haven't made clear my position on your nuclear program. In a nutshell: trust me you Sonny Bono lookin' little clown, it ain't gonna happen. Push me once more on this, okay?

I always wonder when people speak palpable nonsense whether they actually believe it. I suspect that in many cases, they do believe it, whether it's holocaust denial, the traditional upside down view of the Middle East or that there's no evidence for neo-Darwinism. On this occasion, however, I can't believe that Haman really thinks Obama has behaved badly.

This is far from paranoid. This is plain and simple calculated politics on the part of a dictator. He's not motivated by what happened before, except to use it as a possible talking point if needed.

Paranoid indicates fear, this man and his country are not making these statement out of fear, it's from the position of power.

Obama has a message for the Pro-Democratic forces in Iran and the rest of the world: screw you.

Even the Washington Post noticed today in strong editorial regarding Obama's dissing of pro-Democratic dissidents in Cuba:

...It's not that the president is too busy to concern himself with Latin American politics. The White House arranged for a Spanish journalist to ask a question at Tuesday's news conference; reporter Macarena Vidal pressed Mr. Obama on whether U.S. allies such as Chile and Colombia were doing enough to help with "less democratic countries." The president replied by heaping praise on visiting Chilean President Michele Bachelet, a socialist who has been promoting Cuba's readmission into the Organization of American States and who has gone out of her way to avoid offending Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chávez. "Chile is leading by example," Mr. Obama said, adding that its good relationship with Washington despite political differences "points the way for other countries . . . where the democratic tradition is not as deeply embedded as we'd like it to be."

Message to Mr. Chávez and the Castro brothers: We can work with you. Message to Cuba's democratic opposition: We don't have time for you. "What I'd like is to have an opportunity to express to the president the situation of the island," Ms. Atúnez told us. "For the Cuban people it's enormously significant that Obama can become president" -- particularly, she said, because of his race and relative youth. "The Cuban people are hoping that he won't disappoint them."

Mr. Obama's hastily drafted statement -- issued after The Post inquired about his silence -- said he wished "to acknowledge and commend" the five dissidents "and all the brave men and women who are standing up for the right of the Cuban people to freely determine their country's future." He called for the release of the three now in prison. Will that satisfy Ms. Atúnez and the other opposition leaders? We suspect not. They, like the beleaguered pro-democracy movements of Venezuela and Nicaragua, are hoping that the American president will focus his policy on supporting them. Yet for now, Mr. Obama's diplomacy is clearly centered on their oppressors. ...

Half of Revolutionary Guard Commanders are on People’s Side

One week after the current protests had begun in Iran the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRG) issued its first statement on June 22. This delay reinforces the rumors of a wide rift among the high ranking commanders of the IRG. Mohsen Sazegar, one of the founders of the IRG acknowledges this rift. He left Iran a few years ago and now is the director of center of studies of Modern Iran in Washington, DC. He believes that there are three groups within the IRG. He says that about 50 percent of high ranking commanders and more than 70 percent of mid-level personnel are not supporting the use of force against people. He adds that very soon this rift will become visible and people will see the IRG joining them.

I pray he's right.

Ahmadinejad's demand of an apology would be funny if the consequences weren't so dire. Obama has projected weakness and indecisiveness in his handling of foreign affairs and our enemies are emboldened.

Comparing Obama to Bush is a misreading of our media and leftist politicians public disdain for Bush as the general feeling among Americans. Almost as bad as our misreading of the lengths that the average Iranian would go to in expressing their desire for a voice in their destiny.

You may be right. I don't think he ever imagined that the worldwide tendency to blame America would continue under his watch. In his mind, every rotten thing we ever did was either before he was born, or before he began to "rule" (to use a word one of his staff used right after the election), so he was not responsible for it. He is America now, so now America is good.

He probably thought this stuff would stop cold. Oops.

Ay caramba. Now I've opened a can of worms. I did a seemingly light-hearted story on zomblog about a tile mosaic outside a Berkeley private school -- and now Fox News is picking up the story and publicizing the mosaic nationwide!

Not sure how the private school will react to having the public spotlight focused directly on them and their communist tiles, but I suspect they'll be none too happy about it! And they're sure to be furious at me, as the source of the scoop.

Should I be happy or miserable about this development? My article about the tiles tried to be respectful of the students, and have some pensive insights. I suspect, however, that the Fox News version will be a little bit more intentionally inflammatory.

Fox now looks to [certain] blogs for their stories, and I'm not sure if I should be glad about that fact or not!

(And yes, in case you're curious, they're paying me to license the photos -- which is how I know about their story ahead of time.)

Dear President Ahmadinejad;

It is with heavy heart and deepest contrition that I write to express my sincerest apologies that:

1. You're hung like a cocktail frank
2 Your fashion taste is stuck in the 1980's (Member's Only is so passe)
3. Our gift of grooming and shaving products was obviously not received
4 The Internet is proving to be so pesky to your ability to cement your tyrannical control over your people; I will help you tame your media
5. That I cannot help you annihilate Israel--not politically prudent at this juncture.
6. That I cannot get you that signed Farrah Fawcett (RIP) poster anymore (sigh) had she been under my healthcare system ... well you get the point.

Zahra Rahnavard demands apology from Iran’s President Ahmadinejad

Zahra Rahnavard
Martin Fletcher in Tehran
A diminutive 64-year-old grandmother who refuses to be bound by the rigid constraints imposed on women in Iran proved more than a match for the President of the Islamic Republic yesterday.

Zahra Rahnavard had already broken all precedent by actively campaigning for her husband, Mir Hossein Mousavi, a relative moderate who is President Ahmadinejad’s strongest challenger in Friday’s presidential election. Yesterday she went a step further by summoning the domestic and international media to a press conference at which she tore into the President for lying, humiliating women, debasing his office and betraying the principles of the revolution.

Obama on Iran, again

Gene, June 24th 2009, 10:34 pm

Tori Egherman, an American, and her husband Kamran Ashtary, an Iranian, lived and blogged in Tehran from 2003 to 2007. She writes:

"I wrote about my own wish for an “Ich ben ein Berliner” moment in a previous post that has sparked a lot of discussion. Since then, I have spoken to many people who are demonstrating each day and putting their own lives on the line. They asked me what Obama has been saying about them. I told them that he finds you inspiring and has condemned the violence. “Do you think he should say more?” I asked. Every single one of them told me, “No. He is doing the right thing.” I asked, “If you could send one message to Obama what would it be?” and they all answered, “He should never ever recognize the government of Ahmadinejad.”

I defer to their wishes."

See SERVED in world war II...............

Absolutely! While the Royals today may have their problems, King George, Queen Elizabeth (mum), Elizabeth, and Anne all stayed, all served, all risked everything - as did everyone - and deserve great recognition for their bravery and sacrifice.

I sometimes think (sure, I'm probably a romantic) that Hitler was done as soon as two things happened in Britain: Churchill was brought back, and the Royal family said "we're not going anywhere."

I'll confess that I obviously don't know the definition of 'apology'.

If an apology is the result of some demand, is it a real apology?

I always thought that an apology that wasn't freely offered was simply more mush from the gristmill.

Same here. I think his plans for Iran are dead, but that doesn't mean he thinks that. I'm not sure if it's the right thing to hope he does push forward with talks, because I'm convinced it will hurt him in 2012. What would Reagan have said:

"The dictatorship of Iran tells us not to meddle in its politics when it brutally beats and even kills those who yearn for the flower of freedom. However, it is Iran that has meddled in other countries' politics around the world through bombings, assassinations, and now the threat of nuclear annihilation. The United States of America, founded on the concepts of liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of individual happiness, stood with Solidarity against communist Poland, and we demanded that the Soviet Union tear down the Berlin Wall. If our symbolic stand with Iran's youth, struggling to shake off the chains of tyranny is meddling, then we make no apologies for it, and indeed, I say to the people of Iran, when you join the free and peace-loving peoples of the world, we will welcome you back as friends."

152 Kenneth  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 10:46:55am

Rafsanjani pushes back:

Pressure had been mounting as accusations swirled that Khamenei and the top brass of the Revolutionary Guards--working in concert with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad--had perpetrated a vast election fraud aimed at defeating reformist candidate Mir-Hossein Moussavi and simultaneously purging the government of recalcitrant elements, beginning with the faction led by longtime Khamenei nemesis Hashemi Rafsanjani. Apparently confident of success, the alleged conspirators did not foresee the huge popular movement that took up Moussavi's cause. On June 15 close to 800,000 people marched peacefully through the streets of downtown Tehran. The numbers kept swelling for two days, until Khamenei ended the brief Tehran Spring with his ultimatum and a massive show of force.

Khamenei's anguished sermon on June 19 was not provoked simply by the popular uprising in the streets. According to a well-placed source in the holy city of Qom, Rafsanjani is working furiously behind the scenes to call for an emergency meeting of the Khobregan, or Assembly of Experts--the elite all-cleric body that can unseat the Supreme Leader or dilute his prerogatives. The juridical case against Khamenei would involve several counts. First, he would be charged with countenancing a coup d'état--albeit a bloodless one--without consulting with the Khobregan. Second, he would stand accused of deceitfully plotting to oust Rafsanjani--who is the Khobregan chairman and nominally the country's third-most-important authority--from his positions of power. Third, he would be said to have threatened the very stability of the republic with his ambition and recklessness.

Rafsanjani's purported plan is to replace Khamenei's one-person dictatorship with a Leadership Council composed of three or more high-ranking clerics; this formula was proposed and then abandoned in 1989 by several prominent clerics. Rafsanjani will likely recommend giving a seat to Khamenei on the council to prevent a violent backlash by his fanatic loyalists. It is not clear if Rafsanjani will have the backing of the two-thirds of the chamber members needed for such a change, though the balance of forces within the Khobregan could be tipped by the events unfolding in the streets. As a symbolic gesture, Rafsanjani is said to favor holding the meeting in Qom--the nation's religious center, which Khamenei has diminished--rather than in Tehran, where it has been held before.

OT, but this says a lot about Obama (via HotAir):

Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist and researcher at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said that elites often propose health care solutions that limit options for the general public, secure in the knowledge that if they or their loves ones get sick, they will be able to afford the best care available, even if it’s not provided by insurance.

Devinsky asked the president pointedly if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn’t seek such extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he’s proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get.

The president refused to make such a pledge, though he allowed that if “it’s my family member, if it’s my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care.

He's a limousine liberal.

Iran's New Revolutionaries

However diffuse the Green Wave, it has a critical component that is the linchpin of the entire movement: a class of young revolutionaries who have sustained it through difficult times. Many of these young men and women are between 18 and 24; they sport green armbands and masks, and they are fearless. Before the Revolutionary Guards stepped into the fray on June 20, the young militants of the Green Wave withstood days of unrelenting attacks by the fanatic Basij militia and the regular riot police.

What powers this new militancy? The Islamic Republic is not a dictatorship in the normal sense of the word. Its practitioners believe they are doing God's work on earth. Guiding the wayward by persuasion and coercion is among their chief tasks. Nearly every young person in Iran, particularly young women, can recount dozens of stories of humiliation and discrimination at the hands of government agents and supporters. For them, each rock thrown at the police, each hand-to-hand combat with the militiamen and vigilantes, each confrontation with the heavily armed Revolutionary Guards is not just an act of political defiance but a cathartic experience of personal liberation.

Unlike their wide-eyed parents with their utopias and romanticization of revolutionary violence, the new young revolutionaries are sophisticated and canny. They have few illusions about the magnitude of the problems facing their country or the complexities of living in a highly traditional and religious society. For example, despite the fact that they are overwhelmingly secular, their slogans mingle political and religious themes to avoid alienating the faithful. Their response to Obama's initially measured rhetoric is another sign of a new political sophistication at work: everyone understands that US meddling would be the proverbial kiss of death to the opposition's cause.

Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

Of course Obama won't respond. If anything, this is a sign of Ahmadinejad's increasing desperation to paint the protesters as US infiltrators or puppets in some UK/US/Israel scheme to undermine Iran

Ahmadinejad is hoping and praying for every chance he can to paint Mousavi and his supporters as tools of the West (or whatever). Provoking Obama into a harsh statement is what he wants right now.

Hamas will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state, because it hopes to see millions of descendents of Arab residents of pre-state Israel “return” to the area, potentially turning Israel into a majority-Arab state, Mashaal explained.

And how does he view Obama?

Mashaal praised United States President Barack Obama for “using new language” with Israel, but called on the U.S. leader to do more. “We're hoping for real pressure on the Israelis,” he said.

I receive $200 (equivalent) a day

An interview with one of the vigilantes

Saturday morning June 13th, while Tehran had a day with plenty of tension ahead, the faces of plain clothed individuals with a stick in one hand beating the people became more visible. These people are often hired on daily basis and as one of them states, “the Iranian men receive $200 a day while non-Iranians are paid multiple of that amount.” The plain clothed vigilante that the Rooz reporter interviewed also stated; “we stay in dormitories but non-Iranians stay in hotels.”

The following is an exclusive interview.

Plain clothed but with helmets of anti-riot police began to appear in the streets four days prior to the announcement of election results, and their accents are unfamiliar. Some eyewitnesses state, “these vigilantes say things that we do not understand.” Some also give specific reports that they encountered Arabic speaking vigilantes. Yesterday I found the opportunity to speak to one of these plain clothed individuals at a sandwich shop.

I was inside the shop when he entered. He ordered a cold drink, all while he was still holding his stick. I started a conversation with him...

Take some of the photos from the old "SorryEverybody.com" site (in which moonbats apologized to the world for Bush), Photoshop out the words on each sign, and invite readers to "write" in (using Photoshop or whatever) a new "sorry" message in each one, apoligizing to Iranians for electing a President who refuses to do anything to facilitate regime change in Iran?

Want to read something truly revolting?
Here's Jimmy's "report" on his recent love-in with Mashall, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Notice how his hatred of Israel comes out in the report:

[Link: cartercenter.org...]

What's encouraging is that Carter really disliked Netanyahu's speech which means Bibi is on the right track:

NETANYAHU'S SPEECH: I watched his speech and was appalled by his introduction of numerous obstacles to peace, some of them insurmountable. He rejected sharing of Jerusalem and a settlement freeze and defined any future Palestinian state as demilitarized, no control over airspace, still including many Israeli settlements, and probably without the Jordan valley – provided they remove Hamas and all other Arabs will accept Israel as a Jewish state (with 20 percent Arab citizens). I've been involved with these issues for 30 years, and none of them are acceptable, except perhaps through give-and-take negotiations....

How much do they pay anyway?
200 a day. (A smile appears in his eyes) 200 thousand toman ($200).

That’s a lot. What do you want to do with this money?
I’ll go get married. I can even get 2 wives with all the money that I have. Do you know how much it would be? Two million ($2000). I might not go back to Torbat anymore. I might just stay here. Haji said there will be more protests to come; they’ll give us a job.

re: #48 MJ

Obama has a message for the Pro-Democratic forces in Iran and the rest of the world: screw you.

Even the Washington Post noticed today in strong editorial regarding Obama's dissing of pro-Democratic dissidents in Cuba:

[Link: www.washingtonpost.com...]

From one of President Obama's court stenographers, Helene Cooper of the NYT:

During a Democratic presidential debate at the Citadel, Mr. Obama and the other candidates were asked if, during their first year as president, they would be willing to meet without preconditions with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea.

“I would,” Mr. Obama replied. “And the reason is this: that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them, which has been the guiding principle of this administration, is ridiculous.”

His comments drew some barbs from his rivals, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, now his subordinate, who called the stance naïve. But Mr. Obama refused to back down, establishing the pragmatic tone he would set on Iran.

Mr. Obama still believes in engagement with Iran, senior administration officials said Wednesday. “It makes no sense to completely rule out engagement,” a senior White House official said. “Why is it considered being tough to not talk to somebody? It’s the opposite. When you don’t talk to somebody, you’re ruling out the use of something that could strengthen you.”

So that's the view of the sophisticated foreign policy class, engaging tyrants is "pragmatic." Does it change anything? Well not really. The moment President Obama ratcheted up his rhetoric about Iran, all of sudden, to Ahmadinejad anyway, he was "George Bush."

When the new administration started putting out feelers for more diplomatic engagement with Syria back in March, MEMRI recorded how the Syrian government viewed such outreach:

Syrian regime spokesmen stressed the changes that have occurred in the U.S. policy towards Syria, in contrast to Syria's firm insistence on its traditional views. The Syrian press presented this as an American capitulation to Syria and Iran, and as an acknowledgement of their status.

Syria viewed the outreach as "capitulation," as, no doubt, Ahmadinejad interpreted the President's early reticence in reaction to the protests. More importantly they view the President, not as an equal, but as someone against whom they have leverage. The open hand has been met with a clenched fist. Engaging with Syria, Venezuela, North Korea or Iran brings no benefit and perhaps even strengthens those regimes.

This has nothing to do with Obama. Achmedinejad is shoring up his control. He should only walk in front of a bus...

I love telling Germans that the reason why we salute with our hands at an angle and the Brits salute with theirs open is that we won the war. They chuckle.

Ahmadinejad wants an apology from Obama.

That's going to be funny. An ego pissing contest between "the One" and the guy who thinks he's going to usher in Harry Potter and The Imam from The Well.

Our president may not know much about history, much about geography. But he knows how to avoid issuing the kind of groveling apology in the first person that Ahmadinejad wants.

Hey, that's a pronunciation issue, not a spelling issue.

Be warned: I also say to-MAH-to.

My take on this is he should apologize. After all, he has apologized to so many other countries he would only have North korea left. I hate to think he is a procrastinator.

Obama: "Kim Jong-il's has yet to rsvp me on my July 4th extravaganza. I am disappointed that he has chosen to extend a closed fist to my juicy cocktail wieners, enriched buns, and life-changing lemon coolaid."

Where's Dick Cheney when you need a real "heart felt" apology?

428 el2995  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 12:43:51pm

I'm sure that an official "Obam-apology" to Ahmadinejad and the Supreme Leader will be delivered shortly, followed by a summary and in-depth analysis of the statement to be broadcast live from the White House by ABC News...

Perhaps as an indication of good faith in his quest for forgiveness Sheikh Obama could announce the conversion of his entire staff to Islam. Hillary in a Niqab would be a relief but I'm sure Bill would want his harem up front. The whole gang could do hadj this year with AhmadInJihad.

And I unfortunately believe that, no matter how he handles it, Obama still will not learn that appeasement does not work with evil. That only demands even more insane than this one will ever be forthcoming. And yet I get called a racist for pointing out that certain cultures only understand force, and total defeat.

I'll apologize for Obama....I'm sorry you're an ass hat...That should work

432 Mikey_Dallas  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 2:37:08pm

I'd like an apology from Obama too.

"If you make under $250,000, your taxes won't go up one dime"

Uh...Yeah, right.

433 rumcrook  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 5:11:21pm

well then,. he better apologize.

434 tradewind  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 5:15:26pm

Why not? TOTUS has made the mea culpa to every other thug on the planet,,,,

re: #31 Carl in Jerusalem

Why shouldn't he get an apology from Obama? Everyone else has (except for Israel).

...and except for the American taxpayers.

436 Pupdawg  Thu, Jun 25, 2009 8:23:24pm

Why not? Stranger things have come from Prez O via his teleprompters. After all, it took President Obama less than 100 days in office to tell the the world, ad nausea, that not only is the USA the root of all evil globally but we have been the seeds, saplings and grown ass trees of evil since around 1776! I fully expect, the apologies from Mr. Obama will continue to flow just as his incessant whining about what gloom and doom he inherited on 1-20-09 will teleprompt through.
Excuse me Mr. President, but you cannot see the trees for the roots much less sow the plethera of positive seeds of America as long as you remain a perpetual sapling cowering in a corner in the greatest forest on the face of this planet.
