Good evening lizards!
Here’s some Dan Rather news to make your Tuesday night more satisfying…
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former TV news anchor Dan Rather sued CBS Chief Executive Leslie Moonves and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward on Monday in a bid to have them reinstated as defendants in his $70 million lawsuit against the network. In a lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court, Rather accused the two men of fraud relating to his claim that CBS made him a scapegoat in a scandal over a 2004 report on then-President George W. Bush’s military record.
“These are the two individuals who committed the crime on behalf of CBS and we’re holding them personally responsible,” said Rather’s lawyer, Martin Gold.
Rather claims CBS breached his contract and its fiduciary duty in part by not giving him enough on-air assignments after he was removed in March 2005 after 24 years as anchor of the “CBS Evening News.”
CBS has appealed to have Rather’s entire 2007 lawsuit thrown out, and the appeal is being considered by the state appellate division.
“If anything, this latest tactic confirms that the whole charade is more a tiresome plea for attention by Rather than a serious lawsuit,” CBS said in a statement.

3 was the number, and the number of the counting was 3.
And the Lord spake, saying, “First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.
Brother Maynard: Amen.
All: Amen.
King Arthur: Right. One… two… five.
Galahad: Three, sir.
King Arthur: Three.

Look’s like oil will be getting more expensive.
Kilduff: Get Ready for $100 Oil
Crude oil prices re-took the $70 per barrel level, yesterday, and they are poised to climb further. In fact, prices are likely to hit the $100 mark before year-end. Economic and geopolitical factors are at work, once again, to produce a return to triple-digit oil.
Why so?
Despite all the talk and analysis surrounding China’s economy, its appetite for raw materials and energy is being underestimated. China has been consistently using its vast currency reserves to lock up physical supplies of oil around the world. We have seen several high-profile loan agreements with sovereign nations whose repayment terms consist of oil and gas, not more Yuan.
On the geopolitical front, perennially unreliable Nigeria is becoming an even greater problem: mere separatist strife, with demands by local rebel groups for a greater share of oil revenues, may be transforming into another religious battle ground, pitting much of the Muslim northern part of the country against the predominantly Christian oil-rich south.
In addition, the devaluing dollar due to deficit spending will cause the price of oil to rise.

Getting Stronger: Economists Raise Third-Quarter GDP Forecasts
A smaller-than-anticipated 1% contraction in the second-quarter gross domestic product and signs that businesses were paring down inventories, have inspired a spate of analysts to revise their third-quarter forecasts for economic growth. Here are a few we’ve collected so far. We’ll continue to update the list as more revisions roll in.
Analyst Q3 - Prev. Q3 - Revised
Credit Suisse 1.3% 2.0%
Deutsche Bank 0.0% 2.0%
J.P. Morgan 2.5% 3.0%
Moody’s 1.1% 1.6%
Morgan Stanley 1% 3%-4%
T. Rowe Price 1.3% 2.75%
UBS 2.0% 2.5%
Wells Fargo 2.2% 3.0%
Of course, you always want to remember what one of my old Econ. Prof’s said. “If you take all the economists in the world and put them end to end, they will not reach a conclusion.”

Look’s like oil will be getting more expensive.
Kilduff: Get Ready for $100 Oil
In addition, the devaluing dollar due to deficit spending will cause the price of oil to rise.
At least our taxes won’t be going up. So we’ve got that going for us.

Going to be interesting to see how the MFM/WH will spin this into ‘It’s Bush’s fault!’
My guess is they will opt for the “texas oilman conspiracy” theory.
Not to be confused with the O’Reilly hedge fund conspiracy theory.

You should tell Furry about the “scooter gang” we’re planning to form. He’s just south of us, maybe he’d like to join! : )
Cool. Heck’s Angels could always use a few more people. We’re totally gonna be riding those suburban streets, surround cars driven by the straights and hitting their cars with paper-mache chains, scarin’ the bejeezus out of em… Rock Hard, Ride Free…

And at some point the manufacturing jobs will come back home due to sky high Chinese wages.
I just sprayed some hot tea on my screen at that one.
But surely the left wing will enact a living wage regulation that will make us all rich.

Yet again something they can “revise” as needed to suit whatever the latest meme of the day is.

That is assuming he wins and gets a judgment or settlement. Here’s to hoping he keeps on losing and having to pay the blood-sucking ambulance chasers.
He won’t have to pay his own lawyers if he loses in Court, at least not if they are on a contingency fee arrangement. However the legal costs of the defendants will bankrupt him if he does not settle out of court and loses at trial.

“Heck’s Angels”. We actually had a salesperson at Nordstrom thinking we were serious. She said, “I’m going to have to look that up!”

I thought those “creationist” decided to take over the congress by force. Come out from under your beds. It is only comedy.
Congress will be okay.
Since that oh so smart “cash for clunkers” plan went so well, they can now screw up the health system.
The demo-rats do such good work!
Money is no problem…for them.
Like the Gov of PA wants to increase taxes. Like we don’t pay enough now.
You know the one? Ed Rendell? The one who had mafia donations for his election campaign and now is paying the mob back with more casino’s opening in their neck of the woods. Nothing to see here.

That was pretty damned funny.
Although, Nordstrom has been a little less fun since you made me stop playing with the mannequin boobies.

I like it when they forecast 10 year deficits or surpluses.
They can’t even predict next week, let alone 10 years!
and always though the projected savings or things phased in or phased out are in year 8 or 9 of 10 !

Good night folks. We will see what tomorrow’s markets will bring.
I’m thinking pull back.
By the way, I’m about back to even with where I was before the market crashed. And I did not short sell either. I just assumed that Obama would really screw things up but good, I assumed that Geithner could not pour piss out of a boot if you printed the instructions on the heel and would trash the dollar, and invested accordingly (Walmart, dollar stores, cheap fast food, that sort of thing) and got well. Not bragging, just saying it’s possible to do.
Socialists are so predictable. Especially when they clearly don’t understand economics.

3 wood, while you are here, I’ve got a question from an admitted layman who took a couple of econ courses and has read a fair amount.
Everyone says that the vast infusion of cash from the Fed will lead to inflation, but we just haven’t seen it. Is this because the infusion is meant to cushion the fact that there are trillions of virtual dollars in derivatives and tranches that don’t actually exist?

If they understood economics they wouldn’t be Socialists.
