Tuesday Night Music: Weezer, ‘Can’t Stop Partying’
Rivers Cuomo has an affliction. He can’t stop partying. Imagine his distress.

Good band. Is Rivers Cuomo related to the political Cuomos of New York?

I assume the jump suits are a tribute to Devo.

I listened to the new album...it's not bad, although hearing Cuomo sing about high school stuff isn't the same as it was in Blue and Pinkerton : (.
5 | Charles Johnson Tue, Dec 22, 2009 7:56:58pm |
This is an incredibly sarcastic song. It's about partying but the melody is reminiscent of the Volga Boatmen.

I like that they stay a little nerdy. Here's a rarity from their old days- Jamie:

Love Weezer- even in matching white track suits, they rock!
Wasn't Weezer the little rich kid on the Little Rascals?

It's SO much better live! Thanks for the post. What are your thoughts about the rest of the album? I was a little disappointed...but maybe live they would all be better!

Love this line: "gotta stop mixing alcohol with pharmaceuticals
And the unusual is the fucking usual. Man, my life is beautiful."
I like it.

Interesting tilt-shift video of soccer match highlights.
Origin II
State of Origin' is a best of three series between the Maroons (Queensland) and the Blues (New South Wales), and this game was the 2009 decider. Sorry Blues!Scenes from this short will be rolled into the Little Sydney project, but I've released this as its the final game tonight, and a lot of people will see the footage on Channel9.
This was shot by me from 2 vantage points in Sydney's ANZ Stadium. New for me is the extended reach using tilted lenses, as well as a faster shutter rate to capture action without having to shoot video. I'm shooting timelapse so have taken some liberties in recombining the footage to tell my version of the story.
Thanks to Liam Berkery & Matthew Callander from Channel 9 for organizing access and featuring my work within the broadcast. Thanks also to Liam & Mike Roveto for helping me on the night.

That's one big Blue Dog. I wonder how much money Obama promised him for his vote on the health care bill?

I saw them touring after they released the blue album, and they had great energy- looks like they still do, so I hope you can catch a show.

I hope the health care bill passes, for purely selfish reasons, I can't afford my insurance premiums any more. How soon after it's passed will it kick in?

Four years after the taxes for it kick in. Only giving benefits for half the decade makes it easier to claim you are not in the red for the full decade. Hope you keep your health in the meantime..

Pretty grim scenario:
Monday to Sunday I hit all the clubs
And everybody know me when I pull up
I got the real big posse with me, yeah I'm deep
And if u lookin for me I'm in vipJust follow the smoke; they're bringing bottles of the goose
And all the girls in the corner getting loose
Screw rehab I love my addiction
No sleep no sleep I am always on a mission

Porcupine Tree fans might dig this band, Age of Silence. Sort of a modern rock/avant garde metal supergroup. The quirkiness and vocals may take some getting used to, but I quite like them!

They're all nordic metal guys, I don't hold out much hope of them touring the states. :P Though I am a fan of laboriously produced studio records, three of my favorite albums are Warren Zevo's Transverse City, David Bowie's 1.Outside and Skinny Puppy's Rabies, after all. 8-)

I don't post here much, but I do read daily.
I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope everyone has a safe and fullfilling break during the holiday Season.
Thanks to you Charles for your work this year, God knows it couldn't have been easy, but if it means anything you've made one person a lot more concerned and interested in the environment and it's nice to read a site that isn't an echo chamber for the same message; left or right.
Best wishes all,

agggggh I have not, but I really want to :( I know all about Storm, have some of her records, used to be a fan of her husband Davey Nipples' band The Sweaty Nipples, watched her Rockstar Supernova performances and heard her constantly on the Rick Emerson Show (best show ever). I am such a pacific northwest music dork, it's silly.
My favorite band in Oregon isn't Storm and the Balls though, it's Floater.

I remember when the Rolling Stones were rehearsing in Ct for the Steel Wheels tour and just before they went to NYC to kick off the tour they showed up at Toad Place unannounced and played a dozen songs. I spoke to a bouncer who was there. He said they just walked in, set up, and started playing. How cool is that?

they have done several gigs like that...the Stones take their music seriously, even when others don't think they do....Jagger and Richards are obsessed with their sound, timing and are very insecure as to their quality...they work pretty hard to bring it to the house...something they don't get much credit for...and with that...
thank you Charles and Los Lizardia...I'm out like Sonny Liston
