RNC Fundraiser to Feature Andrew Breitbart

Wingnuts • Views: 3,355

Coming up in August, a very special Republican National Committee fundraising event featuring right wing hero Andrew Breitbart. Unbelievable.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has a party fundraising event coming up in August that is scheduled to feature a very special guest: Conservative media activist Andrew Breitbart, according to a copy of the invitation exclusively obtained by TPM.

The fundraising event, billed as an “Election Countdown,” will take place from August 12-14 in Beverly Hills, California, and will also feature other politicians such as California Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, and Nevada Republican gubernatorial nominee Brian Sandoval. Steele and Breitbart are scheduled to co-headline a welcome reception on the first evening, August 12.

This goes in the “Wingnuts” category because there is obviously no remaining daylight between the RNC and the crazies.

This was probably set up before the Breitbart's latest exploits.
It'll be interesting to see if they keep him. I would be surprised if they do.

Andrew Breitbart is scheduled to appear right after the Obama effigy burning, and before the ceremonial "Airing of Grievances".

He's booked for the 2012 Republican National Convention keynote too? /

This really, really is an open embrace of ugly racism by the RNC.

Off-topic, but I just posted a side link for the news article on the Texas busdriver's suit regarding his firing for refusing to transport a woman to Planned Parenthood.

Odd that he thinks his rights were violated while apparently not taking into account that the woman had some rights as well. Or perhaps he really should not have been a bus driver in the first place.

There is a third option, but it involves getting thrown under the bus by the rest of GOP establishment. Although you do get to retain your self-respect...

That was my first thought as well, that this had been planned for months now, prior to his letting his racism all hang out. But if Steele or somebody high up on the totem pole don't revoke that invitation soon, then it'll be pretty obvious that the party as a whole has thrown their chip in with the vilest, darkest parts of the political spectrum in the pursuit of power.

I don't know how any Republicans can feign surprise when their party is accused of being a safe haven for haters and lunatics. This didn't suddenly just happen; they've been bringing the crazy into the fold since Palin's VP nomination, right under everyone's noses. Everybody's gone along for the ride either with a smile on their face, or in perpetual denial of the facts.

It's time to start painting with that broad brush. I don't want to hear any whining about "a tiny minority of extremists." Too little, too late - your party is hopelessly fucked, and getting more fucked up by the minute.

What the hell. Do these guys really have any understanding of what our governing documents were about, or why particular clauses were written?

Otherwise, it simply means that their need to pander far exceeds their integrity, and thus to me heavily implies that they should not be holding, or be elected to, public office.

27 Gus  Mon, Jul 26, 2010 10:22:38am

Andrew Breitbart and the re-branded RNC/GOP are a perfect match.

Rather ironic that the same people that are always talking about elitism will be holding this fundraiser at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel with rooms starting at $371 per night. One-thousand dollars buys you one dinner but the top billing at $60,800 gets you the package deal in this billionaires and race-baiters for Republicans event.

Breibart also got a $500,000 advance for his upcoming "book". So yeah, tell me about elitism.

My catholic wife's best friend, a Presbyterian from Mississippi, was raised to believe Catholics are not Christians. Our county has 150+ churches, one of them a Reform temple, and one is a Catholic church. We watch this stuff.

29 HappyWarrior  Mon, Jul 26, 2010 10:25:16am

Smart move GOP. Have a fundraiser with a man who is known to have no qualms about taking doctored material to make people look bad. As for the idiotic governor of Lt Governor of Tennessee. What a damn jerk. Seriously, people wonder why we struggle to make inroads with Muslims in the Middle East and it's because of idiots like this. And doesn't he know that many Amiercans and their ancestors immigrated here in the first place because of religious oppression.

Well, not all too long ago, the Church I belong to was held to be an evil "cult" (aka "The Whore of Babylon") by a great number of these same people. (Still is, by the bigger freaks.) The only reason Catholicism got an early toehold in North America (the Spanish aside, of course), is that a couple of colonies, Maryland among them, were specifically designed to be, as it were, Catholic "reservations". This is why there are Catholic crosses bottony on the Maryland flag and why the first diocese in country was that of Baltimore.

When the Irish started showing up, there were anti-Catholic riots a-plenty, and lots of lynchings, too.

These people either do not know this history or secretly wish to repeat it.

It's about power, that's all. Bringing the loonies, the crazies, the haters, and the bigots into the fold is a strategy aimed at one conclusion: A return to the Republican control of the Executive and Legislative branches of not just the federal government, but government at every level. If it means they have to rub shoulders with the most hate-filled, bigoted, crazy SOBs that have walked the Earth, they'll do it, just so long as it means more votes come November.

Thing about it is, they don't yet realize where this road's going to take them. That, in their blind and fanatical drive to drive out the "impure" and the "heretical," one that would rival the Spanish Inquisition, they are setting the stage for their eventual collapse into the Dustbin of History, a collapse that can't come soon enough.

34 webevintage  Mon, Jul 26, 2010 11:00:35am

Nice to see they like to scrape the bottom of the bucket for their speakers.

I guess the question is, in the end, will the voters in NOV see the GOP for what it is and STILL vote them in or will they vote for Democrats.

Why is a liar like Breitbart called a "Conservative media activist" while some far more respectable who participated in the journolist are castigated as part of some evil conspiracy to distort the media?

The RNC is adrift and rapidly floating out to sea on a riptide of wingnuts and delusion.

And while we're at it, can anyone identify the GOP's platform anymore? Their next convention is going to be fascinating.

Plank 1: We are against Democrats.

Plank 2: We are for whoever is against Democrats.

Plank 3: We are against Big Government.

Plank 4: If we are the Government, ignore plank 3.

Plank 5: We are pro-individual rights. The Big Government should stay out of our personal lives.

Plank 6: One exception to Plank 5 is gay marriage.

Plank 7: Another exception to Plank 5 is women's right to choose.

Plank 8: Another exception to Plank 5 is Muslim's right to build community centers.

Plank 9: Another exception to Plank 5 is anyone who looks like they might not be an American needing to prove that they are when encountered by law enforcement.

Plank 10: Another exception to Plank 5 is the belief that we're all equal, but we all need to acknowledge that Christians are more right than everyone else.

Plank 11: Mormons aren't real Christians.

Plank 12: We believe Obama is not a citizen and should go back to Africa, but not in a racist way.

Plank 13: We believe in the land of opportunity. But less so for people who speak spanish.

Plank 14: Dinosaurs and man existed together on earth at the same time.

Plank 15: Global warming is a myth and if the globe is warming it's because god wants it that way.
