Rick Perry’s Advisers: Don’t Change a Thing

After all, God told him to run
Politics • Views: 28,243

In the aftermath of Rick Perry’s pathetically awful debate performances and Herman Cain’s upset straw poll win, Perry’s advisers tell Politico they have no plans to change anything. Oh, well, one thing. Perry’s going to get even more hostile to Mitt Romney.

It’s a microcosm of the Republican Party — when your approach fails miserably, double down, dial up the rhetoric, and fail even bigger.

There will be a veritable Texas twister of spin surrounding him before this is over.

Hey, who doesn’t like Foghorn Leghorn?

So it’s going to be Mitt on the ticket, then?

Wonder who his Sarah choice for VP is going to be. Michele?

Hey, who doesn’t like Foghorn Leghorn?

I thought Foghorn was a fairly ignorant blow-hard who deserved his constant comeuppances from the nerdy poult with the big glasses and the science education.

Somewhat entertaining, but I probably wouldn’t want to know him socially. I already have my quota of “asshole friends”.

The barnyard dog, considering all the abuse that Foghorn heaps on him. Same goes for the egghead kid.

Hehe.

Has the Mormon thing been attacked, yet? I vaguely recall Cain having gotten scolded for having brought it up.

There are ways of bringing it up without bringing it up, if you get my drift.

Think the large cross placed directly behind Huckabee’s head while he concern trolled about certain non-orthodox LDS beliefs.

20 lawhawk  Wed, Sep 28, 2011 11:59:31am

Heh… and for all the focus on Iowa and NH, Florida may have trumped them all. They’re contemplating moving their primary up to January 31, which will make things quite interesting for the respective parties and the states, particularly Iowa and NH, which have traditionally kicked off primary season.

Cannon said the members of the state commission in charge of primary scheduling “are expecting to meet on Friday from 11 to 12, and I expect that they will pick January 31 as Florida’s primary date.”

The move is part of Florida’s plan to hold the fifth primary nominating contest of 2012. The state pulled off the same move in 2008 as it sought to move toward the front of the scrum of early primary states—even at the price of losing delegates at the 2008 nominating convention.

States outside the charmed circle of the four already designated early-voting states—Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina—who try to jump ahead of March 6 on the primary calendar risk penalties from the national party. But the example of Florida, at least, suggests that states are increasingly willing to barter away some influence at the convention in exchange for the clout and media attention that come with earlier primary votes.

Florida’s decision will almost certainly prompt protests from the four early-voting states. And if those states retaliate by moving their own primaries forward in January, that could mean that Iowa and New Hampshire, which traditionally lead off the primary season, could be casting ballots in early January—and suffering through last-minute campaigning appeals over the December holidays.

Any kind of change in primary schedule has a direct effect on who might emerge as a frontrunner because of the differing constituencies involved.

Frankly, I’d love to see all the primaries done on one day - Super Tuesday and force candidates to choose who and what they’re going to do but that would mean that states like NH and IA lose their importance and the big states get increased importance.

I was hoping that Perry would give Mitt a run for his money. Looks like that’s not going to happen. Perry must feel the need to self-destruct.

Because modern journalism is no longer about presenting facts and allowing viewers/readers/listeners to come to their own conclusions, it is about confirming and reaffirming their preconceived notions about the world.

I don’t think it’s ever not been that. Modernity and journalism coincide. Where and when was this supposed Garden of Eden of journalism?

Are you familiar with Karl Kraus’ The Last Days of Mankind? His displayal of the media (“the journaille”, as he called them) during World War I is brilliant.

Nothing has changed.

Obama’s Back-to-School Speech Blacked Out After Parents Complained

Only in America post 2009 could the leader of the free world giving an inspirational speech to students be considered ‘politically controversial’, or, depending on where you are, ‘brainwashing children’.

However, he is very good at admitting failure in that movie.

If Perry and the modern GOP had that quality, they’d be reasonable.

It’s that they don’t apologize, and can’t recognize their own failures that’s the nutso combination.

50 engineer cat  Wed, Sep 28, 2011 12:55:14pm

no plans to change anything

actually, i think this is exactly what they think they have to say while at the same time they are frantically drilling perry in order to get him to be sharper and on point in the next few debates

perry’s biggest problem remains that he is, of course, a moron

I agree. In fact, I’m to the point where I believe the GOP base requires their leaders and politicians to lie to them.
