Actual headline from Fox Nation two days ago:
Liberals Push Socialism in Outer Space
Fox Nation gives The Onion a run for its money!
The Fox Nation was created for people who believe in the United States of America and its ideals, as expressed in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a community that believes in the American Dream: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. One that believes being an American is an honor, as well as a great responsibility – and a wonderful adventure.
This is a place for people who believe we live in a great country, a welcoming refuge for legal immigrants who want to contribute their talents and abilities to make our way of life even greater. We believe we should enjoy the company and support of each other, delighting in the creativity, ingenuity, and work ethic of one and all, while observing the rules of civility and mutual respect and, most importantly, strengthening our diverse society by striving for unity.
The Fox Nation is committed to the core principles of tolerance, open debate, civil discourse, and fair and balanced coverage of the news. It is for those opposed to intolerance, excessive government control of our lives, and attempts to monopolize opinion or suppress freedom of thought, expression, and worship.
We invite all Americans who share these values to join us here at Fox Nation.

To: All
I have not been able to find any place else that gives such a strong combination of conservative philosophy, activism, news and discussion. The members of this website are a force majeure responsible for a huge inpact on political communication at the grassroots level. We engage in intelligent debate, we analyze the news, we spread the word, and we organize against the gutless anti-American ignorance that is liberalism. We are one of the main engines of political discussion and activism in this country.
OUR DONATIONS MAKE THIS INSTITUTION RUN. It is so easy to make an automatic monthly donation; I donate $10/month via electronic debit. I believe in the goals and the purpose of this website and more importantly in the philosophy behind it. I use its services, I have benefitted intellectually from its content, and I therefore believe that I have a responsibility to help keep it running.
If you don’t believe that we are quite literally engaged in a fight for the life of our country, you should probably just click on the next News/Activism link while you still can. If you believe that Free Republic is an important bulwark against the American socialist movement and against those who are actively trying to bring America to her knees, then it’s time to set up a small monthly donation.

United States Talks Fail as Pakistanis Seek Apology
The latest high-level talks on ending a diplomatic deadlock between the United States and Pakistan ended in failure on Friday over Pakistani demands for an unconditional apology from the Obama administration for an airstrike. The White House, angered by the recent spectacular Taliban attacks in Afghanistan, refuses to apologize.

Obama is correct. It would be both weak and unwise for us to meekly accept Pakistan's version of the incident. If that's what they demand, then we're at an impasse.

Concur, on all but "assassinations and coups" (those need to be gone over case by case on another day). It is the very fact that we have good evidence to support our position that means we shouldn't just swallow Pakistan's version, especially given that our doing so would only serve to bolster the Pakistani army and the ISI. The army and ISI are already being questioned inside Pakistan, and we do not want to give them a way away from those questions. If Pakistan is ever to get out of the sandpit its stuck in, the military and ISI need to have their power scaled back massively.

Medieval wars don't come in 'who was in the wrong' very often. Christian kings wanted the land, same as the Moors did when they came in.
That said, things did go downhill pretty fast after the end of the Reconquista. Held off slightly by the glamor of a giant influx of money from the Americas, but it was pretty grotesque.
Which was mostly Ferdinand and Isabella's fault, and all the religio-political crap that came with that. The medieval Christian kingdoms in Spain were often very cool. Catalonia in the fourteenth century was as nice a place as you'd want to find in medieval Europe.
