Another Breitbart Fake Outrage Bites the Dust: Crowder Admits He Shoved Union Members

Today in the fake right wing scandal we’ll call UnionThug-Gate, we learn that provocateur Steven Crowder was not just standing there minding his own business when he was punched in the face outside the Michigan Capitol — he was shoving union members.

And how do we know this? From Crowder’s own words, in this smug, self-aggrandizing interview with Canada’s Fox News imitation, Sun News. The thing about dimwits like Crowder is that if you let them keep talking long enough, they’ll eventually out themselves. They can’t help it.

The pertinent section begins at about 4 minutes in, as the interviewer rants about thugs and asks why the police didn’t arrest them (maybe because Crowder never filed a police report?):

“I’ve been very honest about this, the fact that as they started ransacking the tent, yeah, me and some men went out there … and we didn’t get violent with them but we did try to push them off the tent. That is true. We tried to push them off the tent.”

That’s right, he’s admitting on television that he was the original aggressor in this incident, but edited his video to remove the part where he was pushing union members. Idiot. Another Breitbart invented outrage bites the dust.

And now the story's losing any staying power over at Breitbart. Besides a blip about AfP grabbing a few set pieces...er, "grassroots activists" to stand with them during a press conference calling on the unions and government of Michigan to denounce and condemn the "attacks" on them, the only story on this is still the one from yesterday where they're whining that the alphabet stations aren't giving this poutrage the time of day.

Even they seem to realize the whole thing's falling down like that tent that managed to hurt nobody but was still a major act of "violence."

If anything there is some fault with the police not keeping the protesters and counter-protesters apart. Though you would also expect they'd be pretty busy given the scale of the protest and time constraints. But if you know that there is a specific organized group of counter-protesters there you would think they would get greater attention as an obvious point where trouble might erupt.

Though you would also expect they'd be pretty busy given the scale of the protest and time constraints. It might also have something to do with the fact that these were state police running the show, because the Lansing PD refused to provide security.

Why should the equal protection argument be made in favor of homosexual behavior, which is changeable? People are not naturally homosexual, so the definition of "person" in the Fourteenth Amendment is being twisted to make this assumption.

"Person" should be understood based on historic, beneficial, or at least neutral and fact-based traits; it should not be twisted to incorporate behavior that most religions and most cultures have said a firm "no" to.

It's also behavior for which there's no recognized science demonstrating a genetic or hormonal origin. And it's also not beneficial and does not stand the definition of marriage, used for millenia - that is, the act of consummation. It's another sad fact of homosexual behavior that two men or two women can never consummate a marriage; they can never conceive children together.

This should still have some standing and it remains a fact that there are only two types of human in the world: male and female. Any other distinctions made are appearance, custom, and construction. So marriage is the lawful, orderly confirmation of what we already see in nature.

The Supreme Court says they will give their decision in June. Pray, friends, for truth to prevail.

Because the cultural and religious basis won't stand when it comes down to equal protection under law and the right to equal *legal* consideration. Therefore, they start reaching for scientific or other coverings as additional backup. And these are often of very spurious logic or not thought through in terms of consequences.

Comes from assuming desired result and working backwards. Seems to be a repeating fault among this crowd which I suspect comes from the practice of cherry-picking quotes from the preferred Holy Book and twisting them to one's benefit as an Appeal to Authority.

A spokesperson for conservative group Americans For Prosperity told TPM on Thursday the tent’s collapse this week during protests outside the state capitol may have been instigated not by union protesters — some of whom were “helping us” after the tent collapse, she said — but rather by “radical anarchists” wearing Guy Fawkes masks and coming from the Occupy movement.

Spokesperson Annie Patnaude also alleged some of the protesters threatened to blow up propane tanks inside the tent, potentially creating a deadly conflagration. Meanwhile union supporters continued to say the tent was felled by AFP members themselves, a charge Patnaude called “upsetting.”

At a press conference on Thursday afternoon in Lansing, Mich., AFP called on the mayor and police to open an investigation into the tent collapse and the events surrounding it.

“A lot of people have been telling me, and I saw one gentleman inside the tent, who was wearing a Guy Fawkes mask,” Patnaude said. “I don’t know if this was a union person or not. I think there’s a good possibility it was an Occupier or a radical anarchist.”

“Certainly some of these union protesters are paid protesters who border the line on anarchy,” she continued. “But you know, there were union protesters there who I overheard saying ‘this has gone too far’ and who were actually helping us. So for their sake we need to have a full investigation.”

I've seen probably close to a half hour's worth of footage of the Michigan protests, including a lot of the raw footage from the tent coming down. I don't remember seeing a single "Occupy" type person there, much less any of the mask-wearing "Black Bloc" anarchist faction.

Of course, the AFP people are next probably going to blame either the New Black Panthers or ACORN for knocking down the tents.

It seems that the ego-centric cannot admit they failed or made a bad choice in the corporate world. Instead of sitting back and paying of debt, they demand more to overextend hoping the big risk will return big payoff, including the newspaper headlines and social capital as well as the financial benefits.

What they don't seem to understand is that they are risking OTHER PEOPLE's livelihoods in the process. And they don't care. It's serious addiction behavior. And it's got to stop.

The next day Fox had cropped out the small segment with the old union guy initially on the ground.

It certainly seems likely now that Crowder was being punched because he at least shoved the old guy to the ground.

There's a higher-resolution video of the Bill O'Reilly segment now at Fox, and it really does look like Crowder shoved the union protester, from behind. Either Crowder or someone right next to him knocked the guy to the ground, and it was pretty clear that the guy thought it was Crowder. Went right for him.

This introduces some ambiguity to the matter of "who started it". If first use of force is the question, then the Union started it. If first use of force on a person is the question, then Crowder or his pals started it.

Global warming is too important to use as a prop for mind games and coup counting. Difficult though it can be, and aggravating, we will get further faster if we can bring a significant part of the RW on board for this one purpose.

Most disputes between L and R are zero-sum games. There can be no meeting of the minds, only winners and losers. But global warming is a game where the RW is going to lose just as much as everybody else. They're playing to lose, and they don't get it.

Here, there can be a meeting of the minds. They change theirs and accept reality.

But consider the quiet wisdom of Bush 41 when the Soviet Union was falling apart. No pushing, no crowing. No taking advantage. Just let it happen. Here, as and when some faction of the RW begins to come around, the best strategy on the Left is to just let it happen, and welcome a return to the realm of reason on the part of those who are crossing the aisle on the question of AGW.
