Some authorities consider “begs the question” to have gained such wide currency outside of philosophical, logical, grammatical and legal contexts, that using it as a way of saying “raises the question” or “evades the question” is no longer mistaken, despite having “long been condemned by usage commentators as incorrect or sloppy”.[5][6][7] en.wikipedia.org

Erik Rush: I was being sarcastic when I said to kill all Muslims
Rush told WND he received some hostile tweets following his initial speculation about the identity of the bomber.
“This was speculation, which everyone is doing,” Rush said. “That’s when the tweets started: ‘You’re blaming Muslims already? You scumbag!’
“After several of those, that’s when I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s right, they’re evil. Kill ‘em all.’
“And that’s all they needed.”
Rush said RightWingWatch and the Huffington Post ran stories about his comments, suggesting Rush actually wanted to kill Muslims.
“I was being sarcastic,” he said. “It was promoted, or covered, by RightWingWatch and Huffington Post as if I had said it and meant it – which is what they do. Then all hell broke loose.”

If Reid votes against breaking the filibuster, he can then bring it back up for debate at a later time. If he votes for breaking it, he cannot do this.

Exactly. You put background checks on private sales, you get people who think twice about buying up as many guns as they can carry. When that happens, gun sales decline and those gun manufacturers start losing money. It’s why they’ve been so adamantly against the assault weapon ban, since AR15 clones have become hot products since the AWB ended in ‘04.

The sad thing, or at least one sad thing, is that all the problems that some people think can be solved with guns cannot be. I also seriously believe the main reason such a loud minority doesn’t want background checks expanded is because they themselves know they’d never pass a thorough check. I guess we learned today who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but themselves and a loud minority of their constituents.
The President was right. The gun lobby has lots of practice and money and that’s why they keep winning even though they could give a shit about what most of us want. This ain’t checkers, the bastards aren’t going down without a LOT of dirty fighting. It’s time to stop playing and expecting that side of the issue to be fair and civil.

He says the claim of very few such sales at gun shows is total horse manure. I went with him recently to a gun show. He pointed out a table with perhaps 20 assorted handguns for sale. Few years back, ABC did an undercover special on the brother of one of the victims of VA Tech going to a gun show to see how many guns he could buy without showing any sort of ID. Walked in with $5,000, walked out with 10 guns, including 4 handguns and 2 rifles. The first gun he didn’t even had to leave line for, the guy came up to him and offered to sell him a Glock for $400, no ID needed. Another sale was for close to $500, but when it came time to see ID, he told the seller he didn’t have any. The guy, afraid of losing a sale, told him he’d look the other way for $100 more.
The ATF rep who was there to monitor every sale? He said every single was perfectly legal in the state of VA.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said at a breakfast meeting Wednesday morning that he’s considering a run for the White House in 2016.
“We’re considering it and won’t make a decision before 2014,” he told an audience at The Christian Science Monitor‘s breakfast series, according to quotes published in The Hill.
Paul added that his early announcement of interest in a race still nearly four years off will ensure he’s “part of the national debate.”
“Being considered is something that allows me to have a larger microphone,” he said.

AMAZED— The senate didn’t pass the expanded background checks so for the time being thats dead in the water..I personally am amazed that this one issue… they could not agree on. I realize some people believe that when a background check is initiated that it tells the feds what you bought etc..that is farthest from the facts. Dad and i have run 100’s of checks and all the information needed is on your DL. We do ask for SS# to input in the system only to speed up the check and keep you straight if you have a common name. No where do we input what firearm you purchased, it isn’t required. There is a short video on how the NICS system works i will be putting up later for those who are curious what all a check entails… i am still shaking my head

According to recent estimates provided by the Tunisian government to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, the number French speakers is estimated at 6.36 million people, or 63.6% of the population.[6] It is still uncertain what effects the Jasmine revolution may have on the country’s future language policy.

Police remove Tuscon shooting hero from Senate after background check vote
Yes folks, a member of Congress can yell out “You lie!” during a State of the Union Address and be celebrated, but a civil yelling “Shame on you!” after a Senate vote is grounds for being led out by the Capital police.

Here’s the thing about the GOP. They know Rand Paul is crazy as a toad fucking goat, but if he wins enough primaries, they will accept him as “the best possible candidate for President since Ronald Reagan”…guaranteed. Especially if he’s running against someone like Hillary Clinton (fortunately for them, Barack Obama can’t run again, though you can guarantee their campaign will be one against him more than whomever the Democrats choose).
