There isn’t a lot of information being given out yet, but what I’m hearing is some people have burns, but there are no reported fatalities (yet, anyway.)

People need to remember that the damage they’re looking at on top of the fuselage was caused by the fire.

In this case, “yellow” and “red” refers to triage status:

The four colors of triage:

Black: Expectant/Morgue (Pain medication only until death)
Red: Immediate (Life threatening injuries)
Yellow: Delayed (Non-life threatening injuries)
Green: Minimal/Minor (Minor injuries)

Taking a minute to be thankful and explain what happened. My family, colleagues Debbie Frost, Charlton Gholson and Kelly Hoffman and I were originally going to take the Asiana flight that just crash-landed. We switched to United so we could use miles for my family’s tickets. Our flight was scheduled to come in at the same time, but we were early and landed about 20 minutes before the crash. Our friend Dave David Eun was on the Asiana flight and he is fine.

Thank you to everyone who is reaching out - and sorry if we worried anyone.

That’s why I hate landing at SFO.. You approach over the water and go lower and lower, it looks out the window that you will land on water, the wheels are feet away from water..Then there is the runway suddenly..Not fun..I prefer landing in Oakland.

Cartwheel would result in several piece of the fuselage followed by an intense fire and quite possibly loss of PAX and crew.

Yeah, but not like SFO. You get water, but at least you can see the coral and beaches, the barren lava for the last several hundred yards before touchdown. Then you hear Hawaiian music when you step off the plane and walk into the terminal. And it’s warm.

But yes, technically the same!

Meanwhile, right wing Christians are pissed that Tonto isn’t a Christian:

Dr. Ted Baehr of the Christian Film and Television Coalition is also upset that the U.S. government is portrayed as “bad” and the army is show killing Indians, which is historically accurate.

“The government is bad - the army is killing Indians - the bad guy is a businessman, the military-industrial complex is bad,”complained Dr. Baehr in his review on Movieguide.

“The pagan elements triumph because you’re looking at it from Tanto’s [sic] point of view. It’s not Buddhism, it’s not Hinduism, it’s a mishmash.”

Focus on the Family’s movie review site Pluggedin.com also slammed Tonto for not being a Christian: “Tonto’s worldview, meanwhile, is awash in Native American spirituality. As mentioned, he believes the white horse (Silver) is a spirit horse.”

I’ll comment: Letting your rifle’s muzzle touch loose ground like that is foolish. Things can get caught inside and foul your barrel. If you try to shoot with cleaning the barrel, you might end up with a massive failure of your gun that will ruin your weekend. Even if you do clean it, such things can still mess up your flash hider/muzzle brake or damage your rifling.

Falling asleep with your firearm unsecured is very foolish. That’s a good way to get your gun stolen.

CHESTERFIELD Police seek person who fired shot that killed boy

CHESTERFIELD — Chesterfield County police are still trying to determine who’s to blame for the July Fourth shooting death of a 7-year-old boy. Investigators believe someone had been firing randomly in the air and a stray bullet struck the boy in the head.

It’s not just materialism, TP. Lots of people have big sections of their lives on their laptops. It’s not just that losing the laptop would be a major problem, its also that if someone else were to snag it they could do some serious damage to you with its data.

About two weeks ago, I wrote that should Edward Snowden be caught, and he revealed under quesioning that Glenn Greenwald had not just reported on his leaks but instigated them, then Greenwald himself would go from journalist to thief, and thus could be prosecuted. Glenn Greenwald has vigorously denied instigating Edward Snowden to gather and leak classified American national security information, even though Snowden himself has admitted to getting his last job with the specific purpose and intent of obtaining classified documents to leak, and we know that Snowden began that job after his initial contact with Greenwald.

Who can turn the world on with his smile? Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? Why, it’s Snowden.

Well, I guess you can only do one, because one is all you need.

Doesn’t seem like the best place for a forced landing, does it. If the plane touched down a second or two earlier, half the passengers would have drowned.

Actually, the bay off the runways is very shallow, which is why they were able to make so much new land there for the runways by filling the bay. One airliner did in fact come down too early and landed in the bay back in 1968, with no fatalities and certainly no drownings. Japan Airlines Flight 2.

Looks like the ILS was out of service at SFO (Instrument Landing System) so the pilot had to rely on his skills to land the plane. Looks like they may have been lacking. This one looks like it’s gonna go down in the books as pilot error and I’m willing to bet the copilot watched him fuck it up and didn’t say a thing (Asian culture issue in flight deck).
