Trump on Fiorina: “Look at That Face! Would Anyone Vote for That?”

This repulsive rhetoric is what the right wing base loves
Politics • Views: 52,842

The Rolling Stone cover article on Donald Trump contains this lovely anecdote about Trump commenting on Carly Fiorina, capturing the boorish misogynistic nature of this repellent dancing right wing clown: On the Trail With the GOP’s Tough Guy.

With his blue tie loosened and slung over his shoulder, Trump sits back to digest his meal and provide a running byplay to the news. Onscreen, they’ve cut away to a spot with Scott Walker, the creaky-robot governor of Wisconsin. Praised by the anchor for his “slow but steady” style, Walker is about to respond when Trump chimes in, “Yeah, he’s slow, all right! That’s what we got already: slowwww.” His staffers at the conference table howl and hoot; their man, though, is just getting warm. When the anchor throws to Carly Fiorina for her reaction to Trump’s momentum, Trump’s expression sours in schoolboy disgust as the camera bores in on Fiorina. “Look at that face!” he cries. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!” The laughter grows halting and faint behind him. “I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?”

Ugly stuff indeed. But will it hurt Trump’s standing with the Republican base? I doubt it. This is exactly what they like about him; his meanness. His viciousness. His unapologetic embrace of the most repulsive aspects of being a Republican presidential candidate.

No, it won’t hurt. The right has been convinced by FOX and right wing radio that being civil is destroying our country. It’s all shouting and second amendment remedies.

The only thing that will eventually hurt Trump is when the religious lunatics decide that he’s not pure enough. Sure Trump is an ignoramus, a bigot, and a complete asshole, but so are most of the other GOP candidates. The thing that differentiates them from him is that they love the baby Jesus and all of things he never said, and Trump doesn’t.

Politics of oil:

Gov. Brown, legislative Democrats scale back climate package

Gov. Jerry Brown and legislative Democrats announced Wednesday that they are scaling back their ambitious proposal to address climate change amid ongoing opposition from the oil industry and some lawmakers.

Brown and Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, a Los Angeles Democrat, had pushed a far-reaching proposal to cut petroleum use by half, boost renewable-electricity use to 50 percent and double energy efficiency in existing buildings. De Leon announced Wednesday that they he was dropping the mandate to cut oil use from his proposal.

OT:

And I hope I am proven wrong eventually. But that whole cop killing in Fox Lake IL (which I’m only a half hour from) really had me thinking today. What if there were no 3 suspects, and this was a suicide? A veteran cop pursuing 3 suspects (we don’t even know what they were doing wrong to get him to approach them) on his own, giving out such a vague description… no clothes or anything. Just 2 white males, 1 black male. Could this have been the perfect cover for a suicide? More job benefits for his family if killed on duty. Just run down the way a bit from your squad car and do it. Nobody would suspect such a thing, as evidence of the manhunt afterwards.

I know this will be unpopular, but I just find it so hard to believe with 3 suspects on the loose, that someone doesn’t know something. If it were just one suspect, sure. The police have been very short with details. You’d think they’d be more open hoping someone in the public has more information about something.

Eh.

So, Trump is a dickhead.

I am of the mind that nothing that these candidates do or say really matters, unless it is a major scandal (e.g., a felony, or some really dramatic sexual no-no that breaks up a marriage, etc.)

What we see right now is a type of “reality TV”. All the media, the news industry, now feeds itself on manicured story arcs. They love Trump because he drives viewers.

Come Nov 2016, for those Americans who bother to vote, the first decision will be if they recognize a name. Then on how that name makes them feel.

That’s how we pick leaders.

While the GOP is eating it’s own and dominating the media with its lunacy, Hillary is building a serious ground game infrastructure in the background. It looks like Biden may be doing the same thing. Research on gene editing in embryos is justified, group says

Genetic editing of human embryos “has tremendous value” to help solve important scientific questions, and should proceed despite potential worries about use of the technique in the clinic, an influential bioethics group said today in a statement. The Hinxton Group, which includes members from eight countries, called for more public discussion and careful policies to govern research using gene editing in embryos, but concluded that the insights such research could provide into early human development and disease was ethically justifiable.

DEM: If you allow amnesty for illegal immigrants, how do you propose to create a path to citizenship for them?

About the US Corporate tax rate:

The top statutory tax rate of 35% in the U.S. is somewhat higher than that of 30 other OECD countries, but the average effective tax rate — the actual rate paid after deductions and credits — is slightly lower than our competitors, according to the Congressional Research Service (CRS).

Several studies have found that U.S. corporations pay a similar or a lower effective tax rate — the rate actually paid — than corporations in other countries. For example:

Our average effective tax rate is 27.1% compared with 27.7% for the other 30 OECD countries, according to CRS.

Gee, I wonder where we’ve seen this confusion between nominal and effective tax rates before?

Listening to the breakdown of his tax plan on NPR this afternoon, it struck me it was pretty regressive. Then, when they went through a breakdown of the really batshit crazy folxes tax plans, and it seemed ‘fair’ in comparison, I realized (again) that we’re doomed fiscally if these idiots get in power.

Perfect for those who have smart voice controlled TV’s, too lazy for the remote.

The latest AppleTV will be Siri enabled…

Looks like I fell for a satire/fake news article (the one about Survivor suing Kim Davis). Sorry about that. *blush*

Hi everyone. Enjoying my break from work. BBQ’d some chicken tonight and then made a leaf antenna clone for about 2 bux. Works like a charm.

I *love* the “What did they say?” and the TV backs up 10 seconds. It’s great for old folks like me!

re: #94 Eric The Fruit Bat

I hate when these assholes roll this out and conveniently forget to mention the shitpot full of deductions and credits corporations gets that we as mere non-coroprations DO NOT.

Not to mention that corporate taxes at a state and local level in the US are relatively low - averaging around a 6.5% maximum rate, and and also these taxes are deducted from their federal liability.

On the other hand, most of the countries that show a low tax rate on Jeb!’s chart have significantly higher local tax rates - some as high as 35% - and many of them are taxed separately from those levied at a federal level - meaning that local and federal taxes are cumulative, where in the US they are not.

Here is Trump taking credit for the health of the cable news industry:

While I refuse to brag, and as you know very well, this tremendous increase in viewer interest and advertising is due 100% to ‘Donald J. Trump.’”

my wife, who is in the fashion business, loves it. Her eyes popped when I showed her the Apple Pencil “THAT IS SO COOL!”.

The fact that you could alter the brush strokes by tipping the pencil sold her. Among certain sectors, I predict it will go gangbusters. As far as the iPad Pro, we are getting one the day it is available for sale.

A nice little summary of reasons why NOT to make deals with grifter extraordinaire Trump.
