The Truth About the Clinton Foundation: It’s One of the Top-Rated Charities in the US

No, it should not be shut down - that’s crazy
Politics • Views: 79,152

YouTube

We’re currently being barraged by media articles about the Clinton Foundation, many of them trying to make it seem as if there’s something illicit going on. Donald Trump and his campaign are pushing this line hard, of course, and USA Today published an editorial today actually calling for the Foundation to be shut down — for no real reason, just because it has an “odor.” An “odor” that is completely manufactured out of thin air.

The real truth about the Clinton Foundation is that it’s one of the top-rated charities in the US. 88% of their spending goes to their services, not to their staff, and they typically spend only $2.00 to raise every $100.00. This video clip from CNN shows the president of CharityWatch, Daniel Borochoff, explaining why they gave the Clinton Foundation an “A” rating.

CharityWatch is obviously paid off by Soros. // This is good to know Charles. I’d really hate to see a legitimately good charity shut down because of right wing bullshit and we know it’s happened before. I still remember and am still pissed how ACORN was destroyed because of right wing lies and I’d hate to see the same happen to the Clinton Foundation.

It’s going to be a heck of a foundation in 8 years.

I hope Bill Clinton is still with us then.

It’s going to take generations to get the Trump shit off of everybody after this hideous election, assuming he loses and his supporters don’t decide to burn down the country.

They tend to follow geography. If you get out a topographical map of the area, I’ll bet you’ll find hills and ridgelines, even if relatively small, channelling them the direction they follow. My family farm watched several tornados look like they were coming right at us in the 70’s but the hill we were on always caused them to jump past us rather than destroy everything.

All this attention on Clinton’s Foundation, and all the AP could come up with is that Bill took payments from a for-profit college, even as Hillary wants to shut for-profits down? That’s some pay to play.

They found nothing. Maybe a bit of hypocrisy based on donors and Clinton’s positions, but then again, the Clinton Foundation has taken money from the Bushes, so it’s not like they’re partisan politicians as far as their charitable giving is concerned.

The AP story shows what happens when the reporters story gets overruled by the editors/social media clique who demand eyeballs. Instead of a snoozer about how the Clinton Foundation is on the up and up and there’s no real story of malfeasance or even ethical lapses, they pushed a headline completely unsupported by the story itself.

That demands more than a correction. It demands a retraction in full of the original Tweet and headline because it’s just wrong. Not even slightly wrong. It’s completely and totally wrong.

The 1965 Palm Sunday tornado that smacked head-on into my parents’ hometown bounced over my mom’s house in a similar fashion. She said she sat in front of their plate glass front picture window (!) and watched it go down the street, leaving a path of devastation behind.

I want to see the same level of scrutiny given to the Donald J Trump Foundation that has been given to the Clinton Foundation.

Especially given that there is MUCH more evidence of impropriety (including their pocketing of a majority of donated funds) than what is claimed of the Clintons.

Trump promised millions to charity. We found less than $10,000 over 7 years.

As for how much money the Trump Foundation has taken in as well as the actual outlays for the foundation? Well, that’s not known, because he has refused to release any of his tax returns.

There’s footage of the Starbucks collapsing in the previous thread.

The good news is that there are unbroken windows at multiple places just a short distance away and cars were untouched. Also no one was injured at the Starbucks.

The bad news is there’s probably a contractor somewhere who is going to have a pretty bad day. (I really think there were some potential issues with the construction, that the whole building went down like that but the damage around it appeared much less severe.)

An old friend from the Coast Guard tells me that Miami is the apex of the dipshit triangle. One of their rescues involved a group of nautical masterminds who decided to set out for Nassau (180 miles away) in a 15’ motorboat, guided only by a map they had cribbed from a seafood restaurant menu. Needless to say, alcohol was involved.

I’ve been pretty busy all day and have just caught up a bit with the ‘news’ and it seems it has all been Clinton Foundation and what it looks like.

No facts. Just how it looks.

Really. Looks can be totally subjective. Am I to trust some idiot on TV to tell me what he thinks (or, he is told to say) it looks like?

I’ve heard idiots say if Bill is going to drop out and he and Hillary ‘park’ the foundation if she becomes president then why didn’t they do that back in 2008.

Well golly, lets go on the way back machine and ask them that then.

I now know why we got better news when we had three major networks that had 6 half-hour national news shows a week and on Sunday one politics show. They didn’t have the time to do anything but get to the meat of any story and report it.

Now…networks with 24 hours to fill. And fill it they do…with total bull.

Trump’s flopping on immigration isn’t going to work no matter much Ailes thinks it will. Immigrant voters and their families aren’t going to forget about how he’s relied on scapegoating them to his crowds and to his votes. I’m hoping there’s a double backlash where he’s seen as even more repulsive by these communities and the white supremacists start to see him as the fake asshole he is.

That’s interesting. The county of my birth too was one that Clinton lost to Dole and H.W Bush but is now reliably Democratic. Any reason for Hinds trend that you know of? Fairfax can be explained by the increasing diversity but also more educated voters as a whole there in recent years as well as the GOP’s drift to the right on social issues.

You can probably guess a major one- Hinds County is more than 70% black today according to the Census Bureau. That’s up from 61% in 2000 and 51% in 1990. White flight has hit Jackson hard.

What amazes me about Coakley is that the Massachusetts Dems ran her not once but twice. You’d think that a state party that has probably a good array of candidates due to controlling every Congressional district could have done better. I’m interested in seeing what happens here after the election in Virginia. I really think Bobby Scott, our most senior Congress member is going to run for Kaine’s spot. Notice that Bobby introduced Kaine at the DNC and Kaine’s strong relationship with the African-American community. I don’t know how he’d do as a statewide candidate but I’d happily vote for him.

Just had a short convo with a new neighbor, in which I suggested that he avoid the default (built-in) browsers in smart phones, tablets, etc. The problem with many of them is that for rendering of the URL field for display to the user, the code actually *respects* the unix/c null-terminated string convention(s). (Which it should NOT.) That is, if the actual URL of any link that the browser follows contains a zero-byte, a “null”, that will be the cut-off point of what the user can SEE of the actual URL. As security blunders/flaws go, that one’s a doozy.

Hey, you know what backfired in the early ’30s all as a response to the depression all around the world? Tariff barriers. Is that the “independence” he’s talking about?

Doesn’t matter what he says, it’s what the Mississippi audience hears.

Let him keep talking. We’re listening, but we’re not buying it. HRC has never said the things about POC that Trump has said, so if Trump wants to stop calling names and examine the evidence, there’s plenty of it that informs POC exactly what he thinks/believe about us.

Nah…she’s just here to hit the ATM.

Now she’s in Los Altos Hills with an Apple VP. It happens here. I’m not offended. News cameras showing the line of Teslas waiting for the Valet. Teslas are our new Prius in this part of the world. Hell, I saw one coming home from Sea Ranch today…can barely find diesel on the coast up there - finding a plug in charger? Not so easy…unless you have one pre-installed where you’re going.

BTW, here’s my boy yesterday morning while I was having coffee. It is pretty there.

There’s a Supercharger station in Ukiah, and another in Petaluma. And you can charge them from a standard 240V dryer outlet, with the right adapter.

Trump is a witless fucking cocksplat, so there’s no point in expecting anything intelligent from him.

Oh man, I just learned the term “spatchcock” last year as I started to cook more for the family. “Cocksplat” now makes me think of some of the images we non-dues-paying parasites see each time we log in.

So my macro ring light arrived. It’s quite nice—solidly built—but I forgot to take into account the added weight. I already have a battery pack on the camera so I always have two batteries, and the 100mm macro lens is bit of a beast at a little over a 1.25 lbs, now add on the ring flash (which runs on 4 AA batteries) and uuuuughh. I can barely hold it up and certainly not for any length of time. Gonna need the tripod.

Trump is a nearly perfect candidate for this challenge: “Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me what you do and I’ll tell you what you believe.”

Applying that standard to Trump has appropriately severe consequences.

Especially given the shadiness of Trump’s business deals and his refusal to turn over his tax returns. He has something to hide from the public which he expects to vote for him.

I read a couple of articles about the Steubenville rape case that made headlines a few years ago. It sounds like that area is old-school Democrat machine politics.

That may be true. However Ryan’s district is north of Stuebenville. He is in another Democratic stronghold…and an area that Trump seems to have been interested in due to closed steel mills, etc. He has already had rallies in Youngstown and Akron (Just a tad west of Ryan’s district).

We have “yahooligans” here - though I suspect even yahooligans are getting into their late 30s by now. And if I want to see backward rednecks who think Trump is a valid option, I only need to visit my parents…which I just committed to doing next weekend after six blessed months. Love my parents, but they’re getting old and they watch Fox exclusively. In other words, they’re political retards.

That’s truly sad. Wife and I are the capstone for 4 generations, and the kids joke about where we hide the bail money when we go out.

You really need a tripod anyway for macro. Focusing hand held just doesn’t work for macro shots.

Yeah, I’ve managed to get some decent shots hand-held, but only in bright light with the aperture wide open (or very close to it), which means my depth of field is razor thin.

Meh, it’s gonna take me some time to figure out how to work this thing anyway.

Re:Demographics of Trump’s Jackson, MS crowd.

Seriously, no self-respecting black person I know would attend a Trump rally while already knowing he’d talk down to them. Not one.
[Trump screaming: ”You’re all unemployed, all live in inner cities in America, are all living in poverty, all have multiple kids with multiple fathers, get shot just walking down the street, and you all have no healthcare!”]

If I attended a Trump rally, and he said this, he’d have to call security on me and have me thrown out because I just could not sit there and let him get away with lying like that. I have a serious problem dealing with liars, which is why I try to avoid them.

Okay…so maybe it’s a bad idea to put your waiter in a headlock. Still, that doesn’t excuse firing three shots into the ceiling. Now the customer (even though he too was an asshole) will get an apology and a coupon good for one free meal of equal or lesser value with purchase.
