Trump’s Fake News Sources Include White Supremacist Rage Furby Chuck C. Johnson

The White House is in the hands of villains, idiots, and racists
Politics • Views: 46,083

White supremacists Richard B. Spencer (L) and Chuck C. Johnson at the GOP convention

Politico’s Shane Goldmacher has an unsurprising yet still disturbing piece today about the garbage information our so-called president is being fed by his staff. Far right fake news figures prominently, of course, and look who makes an unshocking guest appearance: white supremacist hate-monger Chuck C. Johnson (pictured above posing with infamous neo-Nazi Richard Spencer at the 2016 GOP convention).

The consequences can be tremendous, according to a half-dozen White House officials and others with direct interactions with the president. A news story tucked into Trump’s hands at the right moment can torpedo an appointment or redirect the president’s entire agenda. Current and former Trump officials say Trump can react volcanically to negative press clips, especially those with damaging leaks, becoming engrossed in finding out where they originated.

That is what happened in late February when someone mischievously gave the president a printed copy of an article from GotNews‌.com, the website of internet provocateur Charles C. Johnson, which accused deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh of being “the source behind a bunch of leaks” in the White House.

No matter that Johnson had been permanently banned from Twitter for harassment or that he offered no concrete evidence or that he had lobbed false accusations in the past and recanted them. Trump read the article and began asking staff about Walsh. Johnson told POLITICO that he tracks the IP addresses of visitors to his website and added: “I can tell you unequivocally that the story was shared all around the White House.”

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon defended Walsh, who has since left the administration to advise a pro-Trump group, in a statement to POLITICO: “Katie was a key member of the team and is a trusted friend and ally of the White House. No one in the White House took that article seriously.” Walsh declined to comment.

Once again we see an article that refers to the Rage Furby as simply an “internet provocateur” with no mention of his long history of outright racism and Holocaust denial, including most recently his fund-raising for neo-Nazi website “Daily Stormer.”

But apart from this, it’s horrifying to read about an erratic, delusional president who bases his decisions and policies on debased propaganda from the worst people in the United States.

UPDATE at 5/15/17 12:04:10 pm by Charles Johnson

And in case you’re tempted to think Trump isn’t still being influenced by the execrable Chuck (who is NOT ME), just today he cited yet another bit of fake news propaganda originated by the Rage Furby.

Sadly, many Trumpers probably already believe CCJ, and don’t see this thing with Chuck as anything bad.

Depends. He’s got a “in” at the White House now, and there are a LOT of dimwit RWNJs willing to write checks for delusional bullshit (SEE: all the money that pours into TV preachers).

Thing is, they can raise all the money they want. Whether that translates into victory in court is something entirely else.

Apparently, I was somewhat behind the curve in paging the CCJ news from Politico this morning. Sorry ‘bout dat.

(dead horse beating alert)

However, my essential question still stands: Is having CCJ and his ilk disrupting Trump with made-up bullshit a good or bad thing?

1) Does it keep them running in circles, biting at themselves, and unable to enact all their evil plans?

2) Or does it make them lash out in crazy, unpredictable ways that destroy the fabric of this country?

I was just checking my email (att through yahoo) and saw this very surprising article as the front page tease.

Maybe Chucky C. Johnson needs to slide this article under Trump’s nose.

Yahoo News - from Newsweek - Kellyanne Conway

Does Kellyanne Conway Hate Donald Trump? President’s Adviser Called Out by ‘Morning Joe’ Hosts

Since Donald Trump’s political ascendance over the last two years, critics have wondered if his spokespeople, including White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer or top adviser and spin artist Kellyanne Conway, actually believe what they are telling reporters when they talk on the record about his statements and policies. Each has defended, among many other controversies, the size of the new president’s Inauguration Day crowd and his travel ban against travelers from some Muslim-majority nations.

Spicer supposedly had a meltdown after last week’s surprise firing of FBI director James Comey, but it wasn’t until Monday’s Morning Joe episode that the public learned of Conway’s alleged distaste not only for the spin she does for the president, but even for Trump himself. Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski spoke about how Conway would act and speak off camera after talking Trump up during last year’s campaign.

“This is a woman, by the way, who came on our show during the campaign and would shill for Trump in extensive fashion and then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off and she would say ‘bleeech I need to take a shower’ because she disliked her candidate so much,” Brezinski said, according to Mediaite.

Scarborough then pounced and made allusions to Conway’s motives for continuing to work and support Trump in public.

“Also said, that this is just, like my summer in Europe. I’m just doing this for the money, I’ll be off this soon,” Scarborough said, allegedly repeating Conway’s statements. “I don’t know that she ever said ‘I’m doing this for the money,’ but this is just my summer vacation, my summer in Europe. And basically, I’m gonna get through this.”

Scarborough added that Conway somewhat switched up how she spoke about the president following the release of his conversation with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, during which Trump said he essentially sexually assaulted women because of his celebrity. He said Conway began referring to Trump as “my client” rather than by his name.

Conway, a long-time political operative for the Republican Party, has received significant flack ever since she began working for the Trump campaign last year and has become fodder not only for the media, but for the entertainment world, as well. She faced the wrath of many Twitter users and pundits alike after a picture was snapped of her with her feet on a couch in the Oval Office in February, to which she later said she meant no disrespect. She then briefly disappeared from her usual television appearances in support of the president. That disappearing act led to a “Saturday Night Live” skit earlier this month called Where in the World is Kellyanne Conway? - a send-up of the popular 1990s kids game show called Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

re: #57 Kragar

I’ve been saying that for a long time now. Trump and the GOP want to push the GOP/Brownback tax plan from Kansas nationally.

It’s absolutely destroyed the state budget to the point where KS legislators have voted to roll back the tax plan. They fell short on the veto override twice so far, but even some of them are realizing how shitty their plan is.

Trump would take all the worst aspects of the Kansas plan and magnify it on the national level - mostly because if you make previously taxable corporate income nontaxable passthrough income, you’ll not only find that every corporation moves to change their corporate form, but all the states that rely on the federal tax code will have to decouple, and make the tax situation even more difficult for all (and even if the states decouple, they’ll be dealing with pass throughs instead of C corps, so there’s a lot to consider).

It’s a huge shit show that favors companies like his own - it’s another self-interested move by Trump to fleece taxpayers so he can profit personally.

64
Belafon  May 15, 2017 • 12:20:48pm

re: #57 Kragar

Laffer agreed the situation “sucks” in Kansas, but told The Guardian that lawmakers should have cut taxes even more.

“When you put an atomic bomb on a place it will materially change the place - but a cherry bomb probably won’t change the buildings or anything else,” Laffer said.

Laffer needs to be laughed at a lot.

Edit: Even he doesn’t believe in his curve. If he did, he’d note that the numerous times that cutting taxes has reduced revenue means were on the left side of the inflection point.

Two very distinct differences between little dog and big dog.
BIG DOG=To run or walk will take much more effort.
little dog=Throwing a ball in a room as you sit until it tires does the trick.
BIG DOG=BIG POOP
little dog=you get it
Plus small dogs serve as lap warmer, cordless vac and snuggle bunny. Plus they eat less.

Holy shit. I’m over that way all the time. There’s a new Costco and shopping area that was built adjacent to the airport. A WalMart too.

A few years back there was a crash just off the airport grounds - crashed into a building across from Rt 46, which forms one of the boundaries to the airport.

I like medium size dogs, between say 30 to 60 pounds. Too small and there’s not much brain to work with, too big and you risk not being able to pick them up if they get hurt.

I’m currently leaning towards a German Wirehaired Pointer for my next dog but also would prefer it to be a rescue.

As a child, I knew only that my grandmother had died when my mom was still a baby. The one time I asked what had happened to her, a bolt of panic flashed across my mother’s face. “A household accident,” was all she said.

I was twelve years old when she finally told me the truth. Some friends and I had got into a long after-school discussion about abortion, prompted by the gruesome posters that a protester had staked in front of the Planned Parenthood in our Vermont town. I had already begun reading my mother’s Ms. magazines cover to cover, but this was the first time I’d encountered a pro-life position. When I hopped into my mom’s car after school, I was buzzing with new ideas. I had almost finished repeating one friend’s pro-life argument when I saw the look on Mom’s face. That’s when she told me: the “household accident” that had killed her mother had, in fact, been a self-induced abortion.

snip

My questions about my grandmother’s death, of a self-induced abortion, haven’t changed since I was twelve years old. What feels new, in the Trump era, is the urgency of her story.

So binary. I am very much a medium sized dog person. Somewhere between the 40-50 lb range is perfect. They are big enough to be a useful working dog if that is what you are looking for, still small enough to easily pick up if necessary, you can scritch em on the head without having to bend over, and they can keep up with you if you want to take them on a run or a bike ride. Small enough that even if they decide they really want to chase that bunny they aren’t likely to yank the leash out of your hand.

Bigger dogs do have their benefits though.
Like, quoting a saint Bernard owner: “nowadays, I wake up at five, and notice I’m on the way out.”
Or a former classmate of mine, she had this adorable yellow Lab, who wasn’t afraid of fireworks. So one New Years eve, she was out with her 3 doggehs before things would get too noisy, and there were these brats who didn’t care where they threw their firecrackers.
She told them, “Hey, dogs don’t like if things go bang close to them, I might not be able to hold on these…” Did them brats listen? Nope.
The result was two doggehs behind her with tails between their legs, the third coming loose and running towards the kids. One of them literarly peed himself, yellow puddle below him in the snow.
She had difficulties keeping a straight face and not telling that the late Elliott (pbuh) was a proper hunting trained Lab and probably was going to him as in “hey, wait for me before you shoot a bird.”
I so miss the guy and his brother Mischief and uncle Rusty.
*sighs*

ABC is reporting that it was a Learjet 35 that crashed on approach to the airport.

“A Learjet 35 crashed on approach to Runway 1 at Teterboro Airport at 3:30 pm today. The aircraft went down about 1/4 mile from the airport in a residential area. The flight departed from Philadelphia International Airport and was headed to Teterboro. The FAA is enroute to the scene. Local authorities will release information about people on board the aircraft. We will update this statement when we get new information.”

I’ve always like any size dog (they’re all good doggos Bront!) but most who have shared my life were on the big doggo side: hounds, AmStaffs, rotties, etc.
OTOH, I’ve also shared life with wiener dogs, jack russell terrors, beagly mixers…

Right now, I have a 100# American-English coonhound curled up at my feet under the computer desk. The jack russell terror is sprawled out on the recliner. One cat surveying her realm from the back of my computer chair, the other cat grabbing a square of sunlight on the kitchen floor.

Being older now (and having had to deal with doggo end of life issues in recent years) I’m leaning toward the smaller dogs as future family members.
Easier to transport to the vet and the end of life thing. Especially since I’m mostly on my own here during the week.

The new pup is a rat terrier/chihuahua/dachshund mix, named Ciri after the character in “The Witcher,” and he’s struggling with getting her willing to poop and pee when she goes outside, rather than when she’s in the crate.

I’ve already suggested I should go down to help, but he said to wait ‘til she’s learned some manners — he knows there’s a good chance her uncle will spoil her. (And I would, honestly.)

Last night The Younger Boy and I were at the only good vet for reptiles on the Peninsula (Red Eared Slider has a wound on his neck), and another pet owner was there with a perfectly average-sized yellow Lab.

I remarked to TYB, “Since we got the Greyhounds, most other dogs look so SMALL!!!”

He replied, “And so FAT!”
///

My plug for Greyhounds - they are very sweet, surprisingly lazy, and although, yeah, they eat a lot (3-4 cups of kibble/day) and poop a lot (remember, 3-4 cups of kibble a day), a half-hour walk a day, some love, and a comfy bed will make them absurdly happy.

But if you want a dog you can let off leash, they ain’t it. They can hit 40 mph in three bounds.

I’m not entirely opposed to new things initially available to people who can pay. Things get cheaper as they are developed and the kinks worked out. It’s basically R&D funding. Note that Tesla’s cars are getting cheaper as a result of following this model.

Think of it this way as well: If things go wrong, we’ll have a few of the wealthy people up against a wall the hard way.

A writer on “megaprojects” outlined a tunnel transportation system in the late 60s. If you drill straight through the chord of the Earth’s curvature, from NYC to LA, you will be a couple miles deep somewhere around Kansas. Then pull a hard vacuum in the tunnel. A pressurized cabin on low-friction or maglev rails will fall “downhill” at ever-increasing speed until hitting a couple thousand kph at midpoint, then decelerate to the terminal. Very little input energy is needed to overcome friction. But ya gotta dig the tunnel.

“… The Economist’s own analysis was even more scalding than the snarky tweets. The magazine declared: “The impulsiveness and shallowness of America’s president threaten the economy as well as the rule of law.” The article goes on to compare Trump to a modern-day Henry VIII, which is never a good thing: “Donald Trump rules over Washington as if he were a king and the White House his court. His displays of dominance, his need to be the centre of attention and his impetuousness have a whiff of Henry VIII about them. Fortified by his belief that his extraordinary route to power is proof of the collective mediocrity of Congress, the bureaucracy and the media, he attacks any person and any idea standing in his way.” …”

Unfortunately, the tunnel would be around a hundred miles below Kansas on a chord line across the continent. You would be well below the crust and into the hot plastic material of the mantle. Tunnel would collapse. A shallower, curved one would be necessary if you could even afford to dig the thing.

That wasn’t addressed in the discussion I’m remembering from about 1965. Rather than curving, a sequence of shorter tunnels would avoid most of the heating problem, and provide service to places like Anonymous’s neglected outpost. If it could be done at all, a real-world application would become a sub-skin network of routes.

Then they went on to describe damming the Bay of Fundy for hydo-power.

For fuck sake:

Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”

And they knew how? I thought is was just Lavrov, the Russian Ambassador, and the camera dude in the room. Maybe Secret Service? Or, the other implication is that the Oval is wired.

TBH, the main “implication” here is that President Talking Yam simply shot his mouth off to the Russians in order to make himself look like a big shot, and “impress” them with all the “top secret stuff” he has; without particularly paying attention to the sensitivity of the material. Assuming, that is, that Trump even cares about the sensitivity, vs. how shit makes him look. The Oval Office didn’t need to be “wired” - I’m sure Lavrov and Kislyev remembered quite clearly everything they heard there….

Absolutely not true, Jamelle. They need not be precocious.

Russia has triumphed. They have both created and exploited an enormous weak spot: the President in the White House.

We are going to be floundering and infighting haplessly for months or even years to come, and in the meantime, Russia can do pretty much whatever it wants anywhere in the world with minimal US interference.

I read that one reason Trump was upset with Comey was that Trump wanted the FBI to look into leakers - not people leaking classified information, which is of course illegal, but rather Administration officials who were talking to journalists and saying things that reflected badly on him, which isn’t illegal.

Put this together with the story that NATO is scrambling to adjust the upcoming meeting to accommodate Trump’s gnat-like attention span. Who would share intel with us after this? Who would want to be our ally?

i’m not back (did you know i was gone?)

just an idle thought:

trump is not in this for the “glory” or prestige - yeah he sorta wanted to get his picture painted and be one of “the few” of the elite club,
but i dont think he thought it would really happen.

its really all about the grift.
a beautiful run of the mill boring grift - nothing fancy

sell the promise of big “profits” to a bunch of greedy (sort of) investors (voters)
promise big - really big - the wall, tax cuts, maga, whatever.

their voting is the funding

once in, do almost nothing to promote the actual thing - - thats why all of this is a distraction - state secrets, tapes, fbi, 2 scoops, whatever. - he doesn’t care, it doesn’t matter.

the skim is what matters - take “management fees”, perks, golf all the time, get the limos, the protection, the “treatment”. get the government to use your for profit services, hotels, whatever

milk as much as you can as long as you can

parachute out when there’s nothing left to take. no more cash flow / a mere shell

doenst matter who takes over after you or what happens. there’s no legacy
you got what you wanted - the easy cash

if it’s worse - a real “disaster” - what do you care?
move on to the next mark

and predictably, the investors are screwed - they get nothing - they never do

they have to stick around for the cleanup cause they got no means to leave or insulate themselves

i’ll hang up and take my answer on the radio
