Still reading. This sounds familiar, like history trying to rhyme:

That’s why it was little surprise when both of my parents were unemployed during the late 1970s and early 1980s farm crisis in Iowa. Unemployment rates drove sky high. As people got laid off from jobs everywhere, my parents were no exception.

They tried for months, then over a year to find new jobs. Finally, they went onto the Aid to Families with Dependent Children-Unemployed Parents program or welfare. They called it AFDC-UP.

My parents dutifully voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980 like good conservatives. So did I in my 4th grade class. Within a short time, Ronald Reagan was lobbying to end AFDC-Unemployed Parent program. It was ended by the summer of 1981 in our state due to block granting.

Gah Reagan’s horribleness needs to be remembered.

My dad developed epilepsy in Vietnam, which we would recognize decades later, during Bush 2’s Iraq war, as a form of PTSD. He was getting disability from the Army for it. Reagan and Co “ended it” by temporarily stopping payments. You could get it back if you knew to reapply for it. Guess what? Reagan didn’t actually tell anyone, so my dad didn’t. We still had SS Disability, but that was a huge cut from our budget.

So my parents will never vote Republican, and won’t ever speak favorably of the party.

OT: I’m catching up on last night’s Vietnam War episode. I don’t know if it’s my glass of wine, the content of this particular episode, or the fact Mr. C. is out this evening so I’m watching it alone, but I cried. (And I’m not mush of a crier.) The loss, the waste, the stupidity and hubris (on both sides in many cases) and I’m not sure we’ve learned a damn thing. That is all.

Butthurt over the new Star Trek: Discovery is still flowing.

For example, in a short video where a pop culture reviewer quickly gives some thoughts on the positive tweets coming out of the 2 hour premiere in LA:

Star Trek: Discovery First Reactions REVEALED

We find this comment:

patrick smith
I’ve been watching the Orville and won’t be watching ST: Discovery..
I’ve heard way too much SJW crap to give it a chance. Now days liberals ruin what should be an iconic show

Of course he hasn’t actually watched any episode, he only “heard” about that of which he complains.

So I took a gander at this “patrick smith” on his youtube channel to see what he likes, and sure enough we find the likes of Lauren Southern and Faith Goldy. This “patrick smith” is probably an easy mark for all those Barbies that Fox News puts in front of their cameras.

Anyway, it’s pretty easy to find examples like this patrick smith all over youtube.

Speaking of ST:D (um, the producers really should have thought about that abbreviation…), has any show been so preemptively analyzed?

Like many old timers, I am not particularly fond of the reboot, alternate timeline movies. The first one was ok, but the last one was just too much of just about anything that was glitzy.

It’s been several years now since a real ST series has been made. Many scorn ST Enterprise, but I for one do not think it was anywhere near as bad as the criticism heaped upon it by some.

So of course there is a lot of anticipation among Trekdom, and SciFi lovers everywhere.

I don’t know if CBS is helping itself by the over-abundance of publicity over these last few weeks. The official Youtube channel gets new videos sometimes more than once a day. Yet the number of views are not very high (but I wonder if young people might be seeing these videos through other websites than Youtube?)

If ST:D (… that acronym…) fails it will be because CBS wants to make people pay to watch it. The show is supposed to be a cornerstone of the new pay service. But I wonder how many will join the new CBS over-the-top system? Since Netflix will make the series available worldwide outside of the US, I also wonder if the majority of the audience might come from outside the US (another thing the whining wingnuts seem to miss.)

If ST:D only has a single season, you can bet the whining wingnuts will crow about how SJW killed Star Trek. Which will be nonsense, as the success or failure of the show is probably only reliant on how well CBS can make their pay service a venture that was worthwhile.

And a single show cannot make an entire network or on-demand system (unlike the 1950’s when I Love Lucy really did determine the success of the young Columbia Broadcast System television enterprise.)

Among my suspicions is that ST:D will have one of the higher ratios of torrented distribution to pay viewers.

I understand why CBS wouldn’t put this show on Hulu, being that is owned by its competitors. But CBS does put some of its shows on Amazon, including the Star Trek back catalog. Maybe CBS didn’t want to get too in bed with Amazon, but Amazon Prime has a much larger reach (in the US) than I suspect CBS pay system will ever get.

Thing is, only us here in the US will have go to CBS All Access to watch ST: Discovery after the pilot/first episode, which will be shown on CBS over-the-air. Netflix holds the streaming rights for the rest of the world (they put up all of the costs for the entire series in exchange) except for Canada, where Bell Media holds the rights.

re: #56 TedStriker

The whole Netflix being part producers itself is a fallout of the problem created by the CBS/Viacom split. If that would not have happened then CBS wouldn’t have had to find deeper pockets to help them.

Advertiser sponsored broadcast networks are a dying beast. High speed internet is forcing the change. For those in areas without high speed internet the problem will grow as more and more content, both entertainment and information/education, becomes server based.

CBS is not as large as ABCDisney, NewsCorp, ComcastNBCU. The latter three have such deep pockets that they are steering, and in a way CBS is trying to not be swamped.

I doubt that CBS can make their pay service really work. There are now so many options that are trying to take bits and pieces of the consumer’s discretionary income that it’s just too much. Certainly for me.

I don’t think it was so much a case of CBS not having the money to finance production of ST: Discovery itself, I think it was more a case of going for the most money they could get. Even with the ST franchise off-the-air for so long after ST: Enterprise’s curtailed run, the “Kelvin timeline” movies, as well as the high-profile (and increasingly professional) fan productions (such as New Horizons and Axanar), showed that the ST universe still has a lot of drawing power off the silver screen, so CBS is tying Discovery to All Access to benefit from ST’s “halo effect”.

The production deal with Netflix also has the added benefit (for CBS) of region-locking, so that US viewers can’t just use their Netflix accounts to watch the show without going through VPNs to watch from Netflix’s overseas sites (which Netflix has gotten better at blocking for other reasons), even though, in my opinion, as a Netflix customer myself, I’ve paid my share for the show, but CBS wants to double-dip on US viewers who are already Netflix subscribers.

It’s all about the Benjamins and, in any case, CBS (and Paramount [as holder of the ST movie rights], by extension, because of the continued focus on the entire franchise) stands to make a lot of them; hell, the show’s production budget has been paid for in full by Netflix, so it’s damn near all profit at this point for CBS.

3 billion for Foxconn…

MPS projects $19.4 million in cuts — and that could be just the beginning

In the final stretch of its 2017-‘18 budget process, Milwaukee Public Schools must slash an additional $19.4 million in spending because of a loss of revenue and higher-than-expected costs for health care and pension benefits.

Schools and staff are already feeling the pinch. Teachers and other staff were to begin receiving “excess” or transfer letters on Friday. And it could get worse, in the short and long term, depending on its final enrollment data and looming cuts in the proposed federal budget.

Things from St. Louis:

The incident began when two uniformed officers near the protest ordered the man to show his hands, sources said. When he refused, they knocked him down and hit him at least three times and zip tied his hands behind his back. When he stood up, his mouth was bloodied, the sources said.

Commanders the next day told the officers they had arrested one of their own.

Police arrested another officer Sunday - an Air Force lieutenant who lives with his wife in an apartment on Washington Avenue.

Lt. Alex Nelson, 27, who works in cyberoperations at Scott Air Force Base, was walking around his neighborhood with his wife when they became trapped between quickly closing police lines. He said he was kicked in the face, blinded by pepper spray and dragged away.

“It’s our street,” he said. “I hear the police say it was their street, but it’s literally my street. I have coffee on that street, and I own property on that street. We were not active protesters. We were looking into the neighborhood to observe events that were unfolding.

“I’m very sad how they treated me and my wife through the escalation of violence they used on me. It was incredibly unnecessary. I’ve had training on how to arrest and be arrested, and I capitulated to every demand that was made of me, even before I was on the ground. We were told to move back, and we moved back. We were told to move this way, we moved this way. We obeyed every command that we heard. We were never given an order to disperse. Not once.”

He said while waiting to be loaded into a police vehicle, he said he was an officer in the military. He said the police officer replied, “Shut up. Stop. I don’t care.”

I can also guarantee you that Star Trek: Discovery is going to end up on torrent sites within an hour of an episode being broadcast.

Virtually everyone I know here is using various torrent sites to watch the latest and greatest or to get the newest album by their favorite musical artists/bands. It’s so commonplace here, no one thinks anything of it.

14th WI hound thrown fatally to wolves since July

Wisconsin hounders are allowed to let their dogs run free as ‘training for the upcoming bear hunt,’ and when the dogs are killed by larger, predatory wolves, Wisconsin pays the owners $2,500 for each disposable hound depredated this way.

These state reimbursement payments can and do go to repeat claimants, even scofflaws.

This New G.O.P. Publication Looks a Lot Like a News Website

It may look and feel like a standard conservative news source — with the headlines, name and features to match — but The Free Telegraph is anything but. It’s actually a publication funded by the Republican Governors Association.

Since its July debut, The Free Telegraph has featured stories highlighting the successes of Republicans and failures of Democrats. But it did not disclose its connection to the association, which works to get Republican governors elected across the country, until The Associated Press asked about it last week, the news organization reported on Tuesday.

The disclosure now appears in small print at the bottom of the website. No such message is included on its Instagram, Facebook or Twitter feeds.

Rick Tyler, a former top aide to Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, told The Associated Press that the site amounted to “propaganda.”

Things that make you go “Hmmmm……”

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake was detected in North Korea on Saturday, Japan’s Kyodo News reported, citing China’s quake agency.

The tremor occurred at 4:29 p.m. and the depth of its epicenter was zero kilometers, the report said.

South Korea’s weather agency said that a 3 magnitude tremor was detected in the Kilju area in North Hamgyeong Province. It said that it is presumed to be a natural quake.

Could be a natural quake, of course - but with a depth of zero km?

That’s……odd.

Interesting that Yonhap cites China’s earthquake agency. They don’t seem to list any recent earthquakes (as in years).

The official Website for the China Earthquake Administration is in Chinese, and doesn’t appear to have an English-language page.

USGS is showing it as a 3.5 moment magnitude, 22 km ENE of Sungjibaegam, North Korea, depth of 5 kilometers.

This event occurred in the area of the previous North Korean Nuclear tests. We cannot conclusively confirm at this time the nature (natural or human-made) of the event. The depth is poorly constrained and has been held to 5 km by the seismologist.

Iran Tests Missile Despite Trump Pressure

Iran says it has successfully tested a new-medium range missile, in defiance of US President Donald Trump.

The launch of the Khoramshahr missile, which has a range of 2,000 km (1,242 miles), was shown on state TV. It is unclear when the test took place.

At the UN on Tuesday, Mr Trump criticised Iran’s missile programme and the 2015 nuclear deal with the country.

On Friday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iran would increase its military power “as a deterrent”.

The Khoramshahr missile was first displayed at a military parade on Friday in Tehran. It is capable of carrying multiple warheads, Iranian media report.

A college spelunking club went into the cave, and one member was separated from the group. They left, apparently without counting the number of people before locking the gate.

The group only realised they left the fellow behind after three days. They went back and found him.

The group says it was a failure of leadership, as they have a series of safety protocols that weren’t followed.

Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area. Puerto Rico is a mess, and the federal government appears to be slow in getting assistance to the island. Talk about restoring power is measured in months.

That’s unacceptable. It’s unacceptable that we’re already dropping talk of the damage done by Irma and Harvey, when we know that Texas and Florida were devastated by the storms and massive amounts of work needs to be done to restore power and infrastructure there as well.

Puerto Rico is the immediate concern, with no power, a dam threatening 70,000+ people, a lack of potable water, and no power.

Bringing in bottled water isn’t a solution. What’s needed are water purification units, which are far more cost effective and can serve more people than shipping containers of water. For instance, a system like this can provide 6,000 gallons of water a day. That means for the weight of 3 suitcases, you can deliver pallets’ worth of water for a fraction of the cost.

A pallet could contain about 300 gallons of water. Do the math. That’s weight and size and bulk that could be filled with other critical needs.

That’s weight/size that would better be used in bringing in generators, telcom, and other critical gear, plus housing materials. So, while the intention is good to ship water, it’s not the best use. We keep seeing this from one natural disaster to another.

Meanwhile, Trump’s busy calling for violating the 1A again, this time demanding the NFL fire players who don’t stand for the national anthem. This fucker simply doesn’t care about the law or the constitution and the GOP continues enabling his actions on a daily basis. Their silence is assent.

The letter reads:

President Trump has nominated right-wing radio host Sam Clovis to be chief scientist at the USDA. Mr. Clovis has no education in either agriculture or science.

The Democratic Party has called on Mr. Trump to withdraw Mr. Clovis’s nomination, because he is wildly unqualified for the position.

Anyone who works in agriculture should be concerned about such a person in that position, regardless of political leanings. Our senators should come out against Mr. Clovis, as Nebraska needs qualified people to support and oversee our state’s most important industry, not a radio conspiracy theorist.

Off-topic:

I cannot watch the Vietnam War documentary on PBS (no television, no cable service in this area, nearest station if I did own a TV is in Cheyenne, Wyo.)

That said, the Website for personal stories PBS set up published my personal story. I broke the text up for readability; PBS published it as a single wall of text (with an image of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial with my father’s name on it).

pbs.org

I was seven the day I saw a Navy staff car drive up to our home in rural Michigan. Even at that age, I knew what that meant. My mother immediately collapsed crying into her parents’ arms as I answered the door for the two Navy men who’d come to deliver the awful message they were tasked with that day.

It was not until many years later that I learned (after I’d served an entire enlisted career in the US Navy) he and all his crewmates were the only combat casualties ever from a P-3 Orion aircraft. It was shot down by a Cambodian landing craft while flying over a disputed island between South Vietnam and Cambodia in 1968.

While I was in the Navy, I had the opportunity to travel to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. That place is eerily quiet for a public display in a major city.

In 2013, after a query to my mother, I learned that the government for some reason had never issued the Gold Star Family lapel pins that we were eligible for. As I had no idea how to go about having those issued, I posed a question to Yahoo Answers, which was answered by an Army member who said he would make the arrangements on my family’s behalf.

Forty-five years late, at a Veterans Appreciation Day luncheon at the local high school, the pin was finally presented to me, along with two more for my mother and sister, covered by our local newspaper.

It is regrettable that I cannot watch this series: I do not own a television set as there is no cable service or broadcast stations within range of where I live (even Internet service is hideously expensive). People I know through Internet forums have been giving me summaries about the show … from what I read I see I am missing a thoughtful, honest, and careful weighing of the facts, with many personal stories of those involved. It is the kind of documentary I have been waiting to see (instead of glorifying the war), and I cannot.

Just so we’re clear: the president’s comments will only incite more player protests, not quell them.

I think that’s the goal. Trump would rather debate the national anthem than health care or corruption.

From Electoral-vote.com today - “Trump Seems To Be Running Out of Tricks”

…but more and more he lapses into a list of “greatest hits.”…Trump is at serious risk of becoming boring, which to him is a horror of horrors—the same thing as being a loser. Meanwhile, when Karl Rove, Dick Cheney & Co. were using gay marriage to whip their base into a frenzy, they were clever enough to go to that well only around election time, so that these tactics did not lose their potency. Will Trump, in a desperate search for approval ratings now, lose the ability to get his base excited when he really needs them? Next week’s election in Alabama may hint at an answer to that question. That’s how he does what he does.

During the Republican Primary debates, he would single out a particular candidate and heap scorn and derision on the one person. No one else in the herd of people would either come to the candidate’s defence nor attack Mr. Trump.

He’s doing the same thing now with perceived “enemies” whether they are football players or John McCain.

The objective is to direct his followers’ ire at the single scapegoat - Mr. Trump understands the principle of “divide and conquer” very well.

I have nothing to do with Star Trek anymore because of what CBS/Paramount did to Axanar.

The fans are what keeps Star Trek going and all of CBS/Paramount’s actions towards fans say, “Give us your money. Then fuck off and die because without money you’re useless to us.”

I’ll agree that CBS & Paramount have been treating the ST franchise as a cash cow for a long time, but the deal with Axanar is a bit different; the Axanar folks were going well beyond the standards for past fan productions, hiring professional actors and crews (as opposed to established actors and crew [many of them ST alumni] donating their time, as in some other fan productions) and starting their own professional production house (Axanar Productions) to compete for paying gigs (not to mention raking in money off Kickstarter and trying to sell stuff) off the back of the ST IP. To an extent, I don’t think that CBS & Paramount had much of a choice but to defend that IP in court; because of Axanar Productions, the terms for ST fan productions are much more strict than they were.

Hitler, the Soviets, the Taliban, and Hussein all mandated patriotism. What should separate us is the freedom not to stand if we should so feel. I’m sick of conservatives and yes conservative veterans too thinking that’s it somehow an attack on military service kneeling. In North Korea, where my grandfather fought, you have to worship the state and Kim family. What separates us or what should us from NK is that freedom not to stand.

He sure can be questioned on integrity. He accepted the job knowing exactly who Donald Trump is and how he conducted his campaign, even if he knew nothing at all about the problems associated with Russia.

A general who can overlook things such as chants to lock up a political opponent or watching attacks on the nation’s free press may not have had much integrity to begin with. I certainly question his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.

He checked his integrity at the door the moment he accepted the job. The number of stars on his collar device are not an indication of his level of integrity.

For whatever it’s worth, I will fight the idea that the flag and the country’s anthem are symbols of racism (though if you read the second verse of the Star Spangled Banner you can see that the idea of slavery and racism is part of the song).

They represent all the nation’s people, not just the racists.

Well, I mean eventually the world will end tomorrow.

In about, what, five billion or so years?

Give or take a few 100,000 years.

It will be kinda obvious well in advance of the end, as the Sun will gradually get larger and redder, and probably burp out hot, ionized gases a few times along the way. Quite unpleasant.

Given the track record of complex organisms on the Earth, I doubt Homo sapiens will be around in a 100 million years, much less 5 billion.

I’m with you on this. I know this country has a sad and sometimes evil history. I know that the current social climate is trending in that direction. And yet, I still celebrate America as it is, lumps and all, and what good I can currently find in it. I admit to standing and saluting when the Star-Spangled Banner was played at Target Field during my recent visit. I won’t celebrate racists or racism, and I understand (and won’t argue against) the desire to protest, but that’s just not how I see it. Not a hill for me to die on, but I’m open to discussion.

Agreed.

Can I get you to weigh in on what I see as the greater point?

Is it better for Kelly to be in there as Chief of Staff than someone else, especially a Trump kiss ass?

With Trump there is nothing ideal, nothing normal. So, as much as Kelly sells his soul, is he still doing some good?

I know I don’t want a Trump that can be completely out of control. He’s bad enough and we hear Kelly tries to moderate him. I fear anyone else would be better. Good chances they would be worse.

I said they are making them symbols, not that they are. Big difference in the point I was trying to make.

If a racists blockhead is pissed off about Kaepernick, Hill and Curry and their answer is they are un-American and hate the President, the flag and disrespect the anthem, what are they implying?

If a President sets policy that makes people of certain countries unwanted in the U.S. or wants to build a wall to keep others out, and he is seen treating the U.S. Flag and Anthem the way he does…how does the flag not start to become seen by some as a symbol of White Nationalism?

I also try to view things from as many viewpoints as I can. That is why I said I can see some seeing it this way.

While it’s not the tactic I would advise, I’d like to remind everyone that people aren’t kneeling during the national anthem because they don’t like the singing or the lyrics. They aren’t doing it because they think our flag is ugly. Their point is not to show disrespect or disapproval of either. They’re kneeling to draw attention to the fact that people of color get shot or choked or tased to death by the police at an alarming rate in this country and that the shooters and chokers are almost never found to have committed a sanctionable offense, let alone a crime.

So, when the president says that the protesters are sons of bitches who should be fired for their disloyalty, that’s not just a calculated way to benefit politically, it’s primarily a way to avoid acknowledging the whole point. MORE

TBH the rah rah USA attitude has bothered me since 9/11. One thing to love one’s country which I do. Another to question the patriotism of anyone who doesn’t conform to your vision of patriotism. You say Kaeperick and these athletes disrespects the troops and their sacrifices. I say you’re just as if not more guilty of that. We fought totalitarian regimes where patriotism was mandated. By now, most people have seen that picture of the man in German refusing to take part in Heil Hitler. If we’re going to ostracize people who don’t conform to our idea of patriotism, how the hell are we any better than the people who persecuted that man and later killed him and his Jewish wife?

I spent 16 years in Uncle’s green so that Americans can feel free to express their patriotism in many varied ways. A while back the ever “popular” shtick about flag burning came up and I said then what I’ll say now - it is not the method I’d chose to protest but that’s irrelevant. The flag itself is nothing but a bit of colored cloth; if it, as an object, becomes more important than what it symbolizes in our Constitution then this is not America anymore anyway. The Anthem, the Flag, the Pledge are all utterly meaningless at that point and the last American to emigrate should turn off the lights at Her statue on the way past.

No doubt. That team is gonna make some noise, even out there in the oh-so-stacked West.

I liked Melo as a player and enjoyed his time here. Were it not for Knicks management’s proclivity for making really horrible personnel moves (and Amar’e Stoudemire breaking down physically), Knicks could have done something.

I am pretty excited to watch a Melo-less Knicks club, even if they lose more than they win. They’re young and maybe they’ll find their way.

He’s a good man, and he was a good soldier even when Phil Jackson tried to systematically destroy his value.

And yeah, he’s going to get tons of open looks with Westbrook running the show and PG lurking with him. His game will be closer to his Team USA game if he doesn’t have to be The Man.

Of course, turning your back is active disrespect, where taking a knee is not. Maybe stand and cover your face?

I can see this point too. If I turn sideways I might be able to take a knee. I can even do it in the direction of the flag from where my seats are.

Still something I have to think about some more. I don’t feel like standing is the right thing to do. (If I go to the concessions stand, I’ll actually miss puck drop which I do prefer to see so.)

I plan to stand for the Canadian anthem on the games where that is played, for what it is worth.

I am mostly indifferent to basketball but I gotta say the Warriors are kind of growing on me in the sense that they are standing for excellent values and not being gigantic assholes.

NBA players have been at the forefront in arguing for social justice.

This happened in July, 2016.

[2016 ESPYs] Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, & LeBron James opening segment.

I really respect this generation of athletes. It’s the total opposite of Michael Jordan’s “Republicans buy shoes too.” This is their country too and they have every right to speak out

Top-down AND bottom-up. I give a lot of credit to Steve Kerr, who’s always been a good guy (even when he hit the title-winning shot for the Bulls), personally charming and politically astute, and dedicated not only to clubhouse camaraderie but to a brand of basketball that relies on cooperation among the players. They pass a lot, oh, and they have Curry. And Thompson. And they got Durant because all their top players (Curry, Thompson, Green and Iguodala) went to him and said please join us. Heck, they’ve even got the funniest “villain” in the NBA.

Watching Steph Curry play is a damn near religious experience too.

Best coach in NBA history after Red Auerbach imo.

He’s a good man, and he was a good soldier even when Phil Jackson tried to systematically destroy his value.

And yeah, he’s going to get tons of open looks with Westbrook running the show and PG lurking with him. His game will be closer to his Team USA game if he doesn’t have to be The Man.

How many basketballs they get to play with during a game? I don’t see a lot of working the ball around for a good shot. And everyone knows it stops when it gets to Mello…if it ever gets to Mello.

5 year half life or so? Then replace?

12 years, but it’s a gradual fade. From the 1990s on, it was mostly tritium + a fluor in sealed tubes. Not sure how easily replaced those are.

Lots of folks replace their radioactive lume with light-activated stuff these days.

The old radium stuff, even though 95+% of the radiactivity is still there (1600 year half-life), the Zinc Sulfide fluor is burned out. So you get all the joys of radiation with none of the benefits!

And contrary to many negative tales told about the Boston Celtics:

The Celtics were the first NBA franchise to draft an African-American player — Chuck Cooper in 1950. They became the first NBA team to send an all-black starting lineup onto the floor. The man responsible was the same guy who put together the Celtics teams of the 1980s: Red Auerbach…

The Celtics made Russell the league’s first black head coach.

The Celtics didn’t just plug their African-American players into the lineup haphazardly. As Nelson George detailed in the book “Elevating the Game: The History and Aesthetics of Black Men in Basketball,” the Celtics utilized African-Americans in ways that defied the stereotype of black players as flashy, athletic scorers. Starting with Russell, the black Celtics players were renowned for their defense, the aspect of the game associated with determination and hard work

(Since everyone loves to hate Boston teams, thought I’d applaud the Celtics of my youth—Russell, Sanders, KC and Sam Jones et al.)
