How awesome would it be if the Parkland kids brought down Ted Nugent?
re: #3 Belafon
Vicious, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, Ted.
I finished this tonight:
The tl;dr backstory on this is C.J. Mahaney was supposed to be a featured speaker at “Together for the Gospel 2018” in Louisville April 11-13. Well, he has a problem with credible allegations of covering up child abuse at a former church. Rachael Denhollander (yes, the woman who has been one of the faces of the Larry Nasser abuse scandal) took him on to the point where even the house organ of Evangelicals, Christianity Today, is calling for an independent investigation. Sovereign Grace says it can’t do the investigation, but that’s evasive.
Anyway, I did this pillowcase. I’m also going to picket in Louisville. And I picketed the local Sovereign Grace outfit last Sunday and will do the same tomorrow. I have to say this about the local church, they were VERY NICE to me. Incredibly nice. One woman even brought me a bag of goodies. I explained I wasn’t there to give them trouble but to pressure the national organization.
Oh, and in other raising a ruckus news: Woman behind act of protest at LDS General Conference discusses decision to speak up
She stood up at Mormon general conference and shouted, “Stop protecting sexual predators” three times. She was escorted off the property and told she could not return for a year. But she’d done her research, in order for her to be arrested, there would have had to have been more than one person there. It’s not something I would do, but man, I seriously admire her guts.
re: #5 jaunte
Vicious, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, Ted.
Vicious and stupid suck for sure. But in a world where these two qualities make success for people like Nugent and countless other slimeballs, reasonable people are just naturally gonna want to get drunk.

Gilboa (a gun manufacturer in Israel) began selling a double barrel AR-15 variant in the USA in December.
gunsamerica.com (October 2017)
gunsandammo.com (description from 2014 when the gun was under development)
As it has two triggers, it can fire two bullets simultaneously. Apparently this is legal under US gun laws (as double-barrel shotguns can do the same thing). The rifle originally fell afoul of the NFA as it could fire two rounds with one trigger pull. The manufacturer modified that design by putting one trigger on for each barrel/magazine.

In accordance with the United States Flag Code, 4 U.S. Code § 6 - Time and occasions for display, Easter Sunday is designated as a particular day on which the US Flag should be displayed.
Unless modified by Presidential or gubernatorial proclamation, Easter Sunday is a full-staff day.
Easter Sunday this year is April 1.
All persons and businesses are encouraged to fly the flag every day, but especially on days designated in the US Flag Code. The flag may be flown by private citizens at half-staff, hence the flag at my house will, as the fiftieth anniversary of the death of my father in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, in Nashville:
Metro police have arrested a pastor accused of molesting several children across two decades while he was leader of a South Nashville congregation.
Matthew Dennis Patterson, known as Denny, served as pastor of Nolensville Road Baptist Church for more than 20 years. He resigned on Sept. 24.
Days later, members of the congregation came to the police precinct on Harding Place with complaints about his requests to “engage in strange activities” with children, authorities said.
Children at the church told adult members that Patterson had asked them to sit on his face and stomach, sometimes in their underwear, according to a police statement.
And of course, there’s this:
Patterson was a vocal opponent of anti-discrimination bills considered by the Metro Council in 2003. The measures were designed to protect jobs and housing for lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
“We want to make sure we keep the pressure on, let them know that anytime they bring this up, we’ll be down here to oppose it,” Patterson told The Tennessean in an article published Feb. 5, 2003.
Mention of Patterson was scrubbed from the church’s website after he left the church last year. But an archived version of nolensvilleroadbaptist . com includes a message from the former pastor welcoming visitors to Sunday and Wednesday services.

Looks like Lindsay Lohan is gonna be forking over some big bucks in the not-too-distant future.
Lindsay Lohan has lost a legal challenge against the maker of video game Grand Theft Auto V where she argued her privacy had been infringed by a shallow Hollywood star character look-a-like.
The former child star, now 31, and her legal team had argued that Lacey Jonas, a “really famous actress slash singer” fleeing paparazzi in the game, cumulatively evoked her “image, portrait and persona”.
It also claimed Ms Lohan’s “voice resemblance and accent” had been used for the game set in “Los Santos”, a fictionalised Los Angeles.
Long story short - the judge ruled it was indistinct satire and cultural commentary.
In his ruling, Judge Eugene Fahey said the scenes were merely “indistinct, satirical representations” and a cultural comment.
With the appeal lost Ms Lohan will now have to meet the company’s legal costs.
Rockstar maintains that any likenesses to real people are coincidental, though other celebrities - including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Tupac Shakur - have look-a-likes in the game.

Holy crap. Deleting incriminating internal communications and encouraging snitches. I really can’t wait to see Zuckerberg go down hard for this shit.
Facebook employees are deleting potentially controversial comments and messages from the company’s internal communications systems, after the leak of a 2016 memo in which Vice President Andrew Bosworth appeared to place growth priorities ahead of public safety concerns.
According to Facebook employees who spoke with the New York Times, staffers are also urging the company to hunt down the leakers who released the Bosworth memo.
If the report is accurate, the deletion of internal communications could have legal implications, including in an ongoing Federal Trade Commission investigation into the company’s data-handling practices. Destruction of internal documents was a partial focus of the FTC’s recent investigation of Volkswagen.
Bosworth’s memo continued catastrophic PR fallout following findings that the Facebook data of as many as 50 million users was wrongly harvested by the election consulting firm Cambridge Analytica. In the memo leaked Thursday, Bosworth wrote that “connecting people” should be the company’s driving goal, even if “it costs someone a life by exposing someone to bullies” or “someone dies in a terrorist attack coordinated on our tools.”
Lock. Them. Up.
I guess even Trump couldn’t get by not going to church on Easter, thought the evangicals would give him a pass.

Men can gradually lose an inch between the ages of 30 to 70, and women can lose about two inches. After the age of 80, it’s possible for both men and women to lose another inch.

As you get older you tend to lose a little height, and there’s also some evidence that carrying more weight in your midsection can make you shorter. The internet tells me that his height is 6’3” but I seem to recall last year or during the campaign seeing that he was 6’4”

“…What is the significance of suing in Trump’s personal capacity?
EISEN: At oral argument, Judge Messitte recognized the emoluments clauses present a unique question among constitutional provisions. Unlike nearly all other provisions which involve the exercise of government authority, the emoluments clauses govern the public and private behavior of officers as an obligation of their office. Adding a claim against the president in his personal capacity helps ensure that the court will be able to reach the full scope of the his transgressions and maximizes the chance of success as the case proceeds.
RT: When does discovery start? Will you seek tax returns? Depose Trump? What other Trump associates will you want to depose (Trump’s children, Felix Sater, Michael Cohen)?
EISEN: We are deliberating over a discovery plan. At this time we cannot comment on it other than to say the plaintiffs will certainly seek extensive business records that allow us to understand the scope of the president’s constitutional violations. We believe we can move quickly through discovery once it begins.

Remember back in the days of the Soviet Union, when former officials would suddenly become ‘non-persons?’
Well, it ain’t just a Soviet thing any more.
Rex Tillerson has all but vanished from the State Department’s website as his unceremonious firing by tweet took effect over the weekend.
The “Secretary of State Tillerson” link at the top of the department’s homepage (state.gov ) disappeared overnight Saturday and was replaced with a generic “Secretary of State” tab. When clicked, it leads to a page that informs visitors in a brief statement that Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan “became acting Secretary of State on April 1, 2018.” It shows a photo of Sullivan signing his appointment papers as deputy in June 2017 but offers no explanation for the change in leadership.
In addition to that change, links that had connected to Tillerson’s speeches, travels and other events now display those of Sullivan. The link to Tillerson’s biography as the 69th secretary of state returns a “We’re sorry, that page can’t be found” message.

re: #189 Varek Raith
I’m guessing expensive as fuck?
Probably not extremely expensive - high end Taks can go for up to 3 - 4 grand, mid-priced ones maybe 2 grand. The Strat might be worth a lot depending upon the year. And I’m sure every one of them has insurance with full replacement.
But Nils probably picked those guitars out because he was comfortable with them. That’s the worst part of having gear stolen - it’s stuff you’ve tweaked for your particular needs, and they become an extension of your brain after a while. And he may have owned them for a while, which even makes it worse.
(Speaking as someone who has had gear stolen in the past. A lot of the time, the price tag is the least of the problems.)

About 6 PM that night it started to snow and by party time there was probably 5” already and it just kept up all night. A lot of people never made it. By midnight it was probably 10” deep and a bunch of us (many art students) were out in the parking lots making snow gods - strange large snowmen. It was warm and the snow was very easy to pack.
Overall total was 12”. By mid-afternoon the next day there was no snow as it got up to like 65° and melted all away.

By hiring KKKlayman she’ll be suing the judge, the bailiff, court recorder, snack bar personnel, the State of Florida, Federal Government, and whoever else he can think of before his case is thrown out of court.
It’s all a show, just what you’d expect from a protege of Project Veritas.

I used to attend UNT — as long as I remember, they’ve had screaming street preachers who come along just to shout invective and insults at students. It’s probably like that at every major university. :(
The Kansas Republican bill that would push schools to arm teachers would make it a crime to disclose which teachers were armed; parents could not be told if their child’s teacher was carrying. https://t.co/w5BcKVqFWG

I explained to her the origins of the Protocols and she was highly embarrassed, to say the very least. I was somewhat surprised, I admit, as I reckoned it’s pretty much universal common knowledge, at least in the Western world, that the Protocols are a Tsarist-era hoax.

Many of our current politicians are in their mid 40s and up.
I’d like to ask any one of them if they thought about getting shot up by automatic weapons at school and then arming teachers as an answer to stopping it when they were 14 to 18?
If they are truthful, which many would not be now, they would admit it never crossed their minds and is an outlandish idea to even consider.

Middletown Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw has a message for those concerned about his department’s recent hiring of female officers: Get over it and welcome to 2018.
In a post on the department’s Facebook page, Muterspaw said a retired police officer from “back in the day” was critical about the number of female officers on the force. Middletown has 70 police officers and 13, or 19 percent, are women. The national average of female police officers in the U.S. is between 6 to 8 percent, according to the Bureau of Justice.
Middletown hired its first female police officer in the 1960s. There were seven women on the force in 2012, WCPO media partner the Journal-News reports.
In six years, the number of women has nearly doubled. Because of the increased female presence on the force, the locker rooms had to be remodeled, Muterspaw noted.
“We don’t look at our females as female officers. We look at them as officers,” he wrote. “Until we stop looking at and labeling people we will never fully improve our society.”

Update on the horrific car crash that I mentioned yesterday morning. It really was even worse than I first imagined. The car, what is left of it, was a 2006 Mercedes sedan, not sure the model.
Mercedes make some pretty stout cars, and as I thought yesterday the guy had to be going well over 70.
Well, it may have been worse. The witness in the video below said the guy passed her and she thought he was doing 150! She may not know the exact speed, but from her description, well over a hundred.
It appears he ran into the metal and wood street light and telephone poles on one corner, then the car probably spun and was flung into the other similar poles on the same side of the street across the intersection where it exploded.
There was nothing but small pieces and maybe a bit of the frame and body wrapped around the poles left burning.
I still can’t believe how someone could do that. Something had to be going on with the guy.

Sure does. Missile or bomb. I can certainly see why the one policeman on the scene said it was the worst accident he has ever seen. I don’t even want to know what the driver’s condition was after that.
I go by there several times a week. It’s less than a mile from me, a 35 MPH five lane city street. I just can’t imagine how he got that kind of speed up as there are the three fairly close intersections before the one where he hit hit the poles. He had to be running the lights the whole way.

Back in the early 80’s, right around the time I enlisted, a couple cars were drag racing down Hylan Blvd on Staten Island, NYC. A Corvette drifted into the curb, and was sent flying. Kai says while some might feel comfort to have more police officers at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, he does not. He says it’s intimidating & that black students will face most of the consequences of an overmilitarized predominantly white school. pic.twitter.com/IxyYDbbOW8

When militarizing school campuses you have to be cognizant of who will be left in the crosshairs. Black and minority youth are disproportionately targeted by law enforcement, being on school campus just switches the setting. Happy that we’re finally having our voices heard. https://t.co/whZtW53TBt

They hate him because he is a “race traitor,” a white man collaborating with Zionist plans for white genocide. He is taking away their only means of defense against the zombie like hordes who will pour out of the inner cities “when the welfare checks stop,” a planned triggering event made possible by you-know-who’s control of the Federal Reserve. This is the real thinking behind ammosexual devotion to SA guns, though not all of them are aware of every point. Even incomplete, it also is the real reason they do not care whether their NRA provided public talking points make any sense.

Conspiracy theories are dangerous for many reasons. Among other things, they provide a way to reduce mental distress by changing our perception of a problem without actually doing anything to solve the problem. They’re the mental equivalent of a pacifier.

It’s amazing how consistently folks misinterpret the idea of “freedom of speech” to implicitly mean “freedom to a platform”. And almost as consistently apply that standard only to conservative speakers, whereas liberal ones get the boot soon as possible if they say something untoward.

Right Wing news circa 1770: Colonists being unfair to British by boycotting British tea company. Seriously. This wasn’t political debate Laura was trying to have. She was attempting to belittle him and you know what, she had a right do that just as he has a right to call for a boycott of her advertisers and her advertisers have every right to withdraw from her show. What do they think we spend hundreds of billions of dollars for national defense on?
So far the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament finals here in Columbus have been all a fan of basketball can ask for.
Both semi-final games went into overtime
UConn lost to Notre Dame by 1 point with a shot that hit the nets with 1.8 seconds (UConn usually owns the tournament…good to see someone take ‘em down)
The finals game is going on right now tied at the end of the third quarter. Ten minutes to go.
It’s on ESPN if anyone wants to tune in.
I’ve had it on as background while doing other stuffs. Women’s basketball is getting better all the time.
