Why is there an audience at all? Who thinks this is a good idea?

Next they’ll let the crowd bring in horns and it will start to sound like Arena Mexico at the Friday night wrestling shows.
re: #6 Charles Johnson
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Trump campaign demanded an audience.
I’m taking consolation in knowing that I think my Breville breadmaker may have just shipped from Williams Sonoma, and I decided I couldn’t live without the Kitchenaid pasta attachments (not the Kitchenaid brand, which apparently suck for quality, but some other brand with stainless steel nibs that supposedly won’t break the third time I used them). Somewhat irritated that there’s no ravioli attachment, but it looks like I can just run the dough through and then use a 15 dollar gizmo that I load by hand. So fuck can Trump himself tonight for all I care.

A few years ago, the Seahawks won their division at 7-9 and hosted their playoff game against the Saints who were 11-5, and beat them. I think this was the game with Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Mode” run. He ran for a 67-yard touchdown, breaking seven tackles in the process, and the crowd was so loud it registered as a small earthquake on seismographs.

With the version I get for my fairly basic tax needs, my annual tax prep cost is around $75 - $50-$60 for the program itself, and $15 for the state e-file fee. The federal e-file is free with the program.

I really wish we would stop referring to national health care plans as “President at the times name”-Care.
The UK national healthcare system isn’t called “Attleecare” or “Bevancare”.
The terms “Hillarycare” and “Obamacare” were created by their opponents as pejoratives, not in good faith. Democrats were dumb to embrace these.
The fact that most of the Republicans in the FreeDUMB states think Obamacare (which they hate) and the ACA (which they support) are two different things just exemplifies this.

I have a 401(k) and, together with my Social Security, it provides a comfortable standard of living, since except for my ridiculously high level of contributions to Democratic candidates this year and my excessive payments to AT&T for services I don’t need, my lifestyle is pretty modest.
Hopefully all ends well on November 3, with resounding victories across the board, but I am plagued by constant anxiety — because it eludes my understanding how anyone (outside of Putin and rapacious billionaires) could support Trump’s re-election, especially given his disastrous mishandling of the pandemic.

I was CL’d on this earlier today, so I’ll repeat it here just as I’m probably about to get CL’d again:
For all the Cletus Safari-ing going on in some media corners, nobody has turned up any evidence of voters going to Trump at this point.
We know there are reasonable numbers of Trump 2016 > Biden 2020 voters out there, as well as true-believer Trump 2016 > Trump 2020 voters, Clinton 2016 > Biden 2020 voters and (we hope) nobody 2016 > Biden 2020 voters in fair numbers.
But Clinton 2016 > Trump 2020 isn’t a species of voter that appears to exist. Which is really, really bad news for a guy who “won” by only 70,000 votes in three swing states last time. And he totally did. In a way that would make even Human Centipede blush.
I wonder what upset that old blue blood fuck more, the fact that James was gay or black. Definitely one of the most overrated intellectuals of any generation. Just a dipshit that made his name as a McCarthy apologist and spent his waning years defending Apartheid.
re: #457 Sherlock Hound
Trump made too much hay about coal jobs going away, and there were fewer of those.
If the Republicans can make a stink about a SINGLE job lost in an obscure industry, they’ll do it. Right before they sell that industry off to their cronies.
I mean coal was on the decline in the 50’s. It’s literally a big part of why my grandparents left their hometown and it’s why I knew my Grandpa while my mom never knew either of hers.

Still waiting for that fresh new thread to come… but in the meantime:
On the one hand, it’s good that Biden didn’t get drawn into constant rebuttals of all of Trump’s Gish gallops.
On the other hand, I do kinda think there was a missed opportunity for him to bite back a little harder about just what a crock of shit all the Hunter’s laptop nonsense is. He could have scored a point or two for a fierce Papa Joe defense of his son’s struggles with addiction. I kept waiting for it and it never quite arrived.
On the whole, though, given how many votes are already in the can, it’s hard for me to imagine this mess tonight actually swung anything either way. I’m just mostly glad it’s over.
I really think that the pundit takes on oil and fracking aren’t grounded in anything like what regular voters on the street believe. https://t.co/cq16vNJoq6

It’s actually AOC plus 115 because that’s how many House and Senate members have cosponsored the most ambitious climate legislation in American history.

I’m good with his taking the high road and not going after Uday, Qusay and Princess Dumbfuck. I think there was a path he could have threaded that would have stood up for his troubled son, who is a private citizen, and it would have resonated well with the average viewer.

I mean Trump has gone after Biden’s son. Tonight he went after his brothers. He’s also using the superpreadtor bit and he continues to mischaracterize the crime bill which he thought didn’t go far enough. As I said earlier, I really resent Sanders who also voted for it mischaractierizing it to gain street cred with uninformed people.

IMHO, if there was anything Trump can exploit from this debate, it was Biden saying he will phase out oil. He’s right that it is necessary, but Trump might exploit it to generate fear of job losses.

I feel good about NC. You got a popular governor on the ballot. I’d feel better if Cunningham hadn’t had his scandal but I was reading an article in the WaPo today and it seems that most voters while they think it reflects bad on him personally (and I agree), they don’t think it’s enough to prevent him from being a Senator and they’re well aware of the fact that someone with a much more sleazy record towards women is also on the ballot. It’s time for the South to come home to the Democratic Party and we’re going to do it with the opposite strategy of how the Republicans got in the first place.

And windows
[Embedded content]
4 birds lost their lives and two definitely rung their bell from hitting my windows over a 1-week span this summer. It was brutal, and eye-opening to the threats my windows cause. I had always heard the window strikes before but never had to actually discard of the bodies.
A momma and fledgling western tanager were dead on my patio one morning. The next morning to my disbelief, another tanager was dead, this one appeared to be another fledgling of the momma bird that died the day before. And then a few days later, my favorite singer, a hermit thrush hit a window; I had just been admiring it a few moments before as it fed alongside all the robins in my yard. I tried to save this one, turned it right side up, but it died in my hands as I was putting it into my bird box that I made for them to quietly recuperate if they are stunned.
I managed to save 2 robins the following week, well at least enough that they flew away. But I’ve read they can die even after flying away as the concussion or whatever wounds they suffered start to set in.
I have since hing vertical rope outside on all my south facing windows that face the lawn they like to feed on. I haven’t had any more problems, but also most of the birds have already migrated for the season.

I had a blast doing ours - I was a partner in a web site called ‘Take Back The Media,’ and my partner (who lived in LA) would call my house, and he had a studio to record his half and I recorded mine here. After we finished our hour, he’d upload his half to our server and I’d grab it and edit it together in my studio. When I was done it sounded like we were in the same room.
Later on he moved to Hawaii, which meant he was recording his bit in the morning and I was staying up late. We did a bunch of good shows, though - at one point we were considered for a spot on Air America, but we couldn’t get it together due to our locations.

Someone should announce that, since they were advanced by breaking committee rules, they will be reevaluated next year.
My deepest fear.
Unfortunately, it is now too late now to remove the cellular modems in WI, MI, FL, MN, IN, IL, & RI, which connect both the precinct ballot scanners & county election management systems (which aggregate precinct totals) to the internet. 2/ https://t.co/nd4iIdQuyo

Why is everyone and their brother doing a podcast? I hate them. What’s the hook?

a man doesn’t tuck a dress shirt in while lying down. that’s pointless. you stand up, you loosen the pants, then tuck. if you do it lying down, you’d need to lift your buttocks off the bed in order to tuck material behind.
