As much as I despise this, it is humorous.

Shouldn't it be Kerry's picture on that critter?

I hope the kid in the white sweater is carrying a picture of Ariel Sharon

Damn. That's fucked up.

Cruelty for the sake of cruelty.

In its own weird way, this is one of the most disgusting photos ever posted at LGF.

They cannot be civilized! The donkey has more sense than the idiot who is kicking him. Is there some sub species of human they all belong to?

OBL's horse ain't looking too strong here

Somehow, I doubt the animal rights people will be too angry with this. If it's a Palestinian kicking an animal, it's just the Americans' fault.

Four legs good, two legs bad.

Weird spectator sport.

Gratuitous Arab cruelty to animals is an underexplored topic.

More evidence of how depraved these people are. Israel is right - build a wall around the West Bank. It is not a "state" or "country" but an insane asylum.

19 HouTexJew  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 12:39:30pm

Wouldn't it be something if the IDF were to mount a mission to rescue that donkey? Just to drive home the point of who loves life and who is committed to cruelty?

33 gershom  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 12:44:33pm

I guess since these are just poor, oppressed Palestinians PETA will not be filing any kind of formal complaint.

SoCalJustice posted this picture too.

Query: Will this cause the PETA folks to break domestic political ranks? Perhaps only with respect to the poor animal and not human beings...the Israelis...the Americans...the British...the Italians...the Spaniards...the civilians of the world.

Really, it's all the fault of the (guess-which-people).

I read a similar article in one of the Canadian papers, but my response is the same- the palis are JUST PATHETIC!

They've managed to breed like flies in 50 years (600K to 4.2M today); they produce nothing but terror; they are hated by their Arab bretheren; they live in squalor; they have no economy to speak of; their life high-points are cheering Western misfortune resulting from Islamist terror. AND they keep the keys to the rancid hovels that they lost when they ran away during Deir Yassin.

JUST A TOTAL BUNCH OF LOSERS...

Last week, 9/11 commissioner John Lehman revealed that "it was the policy (before 9/11) and I believe remains the policy today to fine airlines if they have more than two young Arab males in secondary questioning because that's discriminatory." Hmmm ... Is 19 more than two? Why, yes, I believe it is. So if two Jordanian cab drivers are searched before boarding a flight out of Newark, Osama bin Laden could then board that plane without being questioned. I'm no security expert, but I'm pretty sure this gives terrorists an opening for an attack.

In a sane world, Lehman's statement would have made headlines across the country the next day. But not one newspaper, magazine or TV show has mentioned that it is official government policy to prohibit searching more than two Arabs per flight.

Wow. So to fly drugs around, all I have to do is pay two shifty looking Arabs to get in line in front of me. Cool!

my teacher has pictures of all the presidents over the chalkboard, well some kids took off bush's, turned it upside down and stapled it in the head, so it stayed upside down. I guess they noticed me looking at them and said "thats what we think of bush"

I kid you not, it was one of the most shitty things I have ever seen, especially happening in texas.

Here's an interesting factoid for consideration about animal cruelty that I ran across just the other day...

[Link: www.davesdatebook.com...]

In 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was incorporated. Henry Bergh saw a man beating a horse and got so angry, he called the police, but the police did nothing since there was no law against animal abuse, so he founded the Society.

1866! I was impressed. Still am.

123 evariste  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 1:57:45pm

Brenda, great factoid! Here's more:

In 1822, Richard Martin MP piloted the first anti-cruelty bill giving cattle, horses and sheep a degree of protection through parliament.
‘Humanity Dick’ as he was known, was one of the 22 founders of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which was launched in London in 1824. The SPCA became the first national animal protection society in the world.

The 181 convictions for cruelty that the Society achieved during 1832 - the first year such figures were recorded in its annual report - made a telling impact on public opinion about the treatment of animals.
By 1840 the Society’s work was held in such high regard that Queen Victoria gave her permission for the SPCA to be called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

From the RSPCA's History site.
From another animal rights history site, it seems American states weren't too far behind England in concern for animal rights and the prevention of cruelty:

In England, a man named Richard Martin tried to convince the English Parliament that some animals have some rights. A bill was passed for the prevention of cruel and improper treatment of cattle
After this bill was passed similar anti-cruelty laws were passed in NY (1828), Mass. (1835), Connecticut and Wisconsin (1838).

Only got halfway through the comments, but had to add my 2 cents.

Husband told a story about where he was stationed in Iraq. Seemed there were a lot of dogs, all mangy and sick and starving. The soldiers, following normal American cultural urges, started caring for the dogs and they got quite chubby and healthy on MREs and later scraps from the chow hall.

There was one dog in particular they called "Angie" who kept popping out litters of pups. She absolutely loved Americans and would cuddle with them and slobber all over them. However, she would run from any Iraqi she saw (and keep in mind these Iraqis were trusted enough to work on the base) because they would go OUT OF THEIR WAY to walk up and kick or beat her, even when she was totally pregnant.

Sick. But what can you expect? I'm reminded of what I learned in my psych class... that most serial killers start out abusing animals.

137 evariste  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 2:19:38pm

#94: Are you serious? Please tell me your not.

i just figured out the leftie sides philosophy (as if I hadn't already). It goes like this:

Rightie: What that person is doing is wrong!

Leftie: That person is no different than all the other bad stuff people do? Look what so and so does, and so and so...

Rightie: So, then they're all wrong!

Leftie: No, you have to look at it on a case by case basis and their education/poverty level/culture.

If this isn't a f***ing culture war, then why are you always bringing up their culture as an excuse?

Here's one I had from another board, a music software board where I asked them to leave the politics off (because musicans can be counted on to be wrong on an issue 99 out of 100 times, and I am a musician) and they were destroying the board with their hatred towards our president:

My comment (sorry for length):BEGIN

Alright, you want it, you got it. But this'll get ugly (and not on my part, but just watch the responses). Understand that I love all you guys on here, but most of your politics are typical leftist musician ramblings.

First off, people are always allowed to speak up. But for some Reason, musicians seem to speak up more than others, as if the fact that they play music gives them some special insight. It doesn't. I imagine most of you anti-Bush/pro-terrorism types know very, very little history. You sure don't know the history of the Israeli/Palenstine conflict. I see an injustice alright, Jah Red, and its this, so I am speaking up: you're choosing the wrong side.

Insert Name, your cartoon is despicable. You are siding with the wrong side. I really can't believe some of you. You don't know your history and you side with terrorists.

This is western civ vs. middle eastern civ. I wouldn't mind if their civ existed AS LONG AS THEY DON'T WANT TO DESTROY OUR CIV! You may not want to believe it, since we've all been raised on multiculturalism, but multiculturalism is also wrong.

I'm sure a lot of you may now come on here and tell me how much you hate me, etc., call me a racist. Well, I promise you, I don't hate you, and I'm not a racist. I would BBQ with anyone as long as they don't want to blow me up. I just think many are doing a knee jerk reaction without researching the real facts.

Do any of you truly believe that 9/11 was America's doing or our fault? If this war was fought for oil, why are gas prices so high?

I'm not going to say anymore because I for one didn't want this board to turn into this, but I was told people want this.

Insert Name: you say music and politics are inseperable. I call bullshit. I don't mind if there is politics in some of my music, but I listen to a ton of stuff that is not political. In fact, I prefer it.

PS: This really is a great community and I come here for tips and tricks, not this crap, thats why I voted to have it gone.

OK, the return comment:

after reading your post it is obvious to me that the reason you don't want people speaking out is because you don't agree with their political ideals. This is a hateful response. Further more, i would suggest as far as music goes, it is you that does not know your history. Music through out the ages has been a voice for generations unhappy with the status quo. CSN, Joni mitchlle, hell, just about any group from the 60's. they helped bring about real change in america. And that, is just one small example of musical history.

sadly, you have revealed yourself. You think multiculturalism is wrong? then you are a bigot, plain and simple. I would love to hear you say that to a mixed couple's face. Whoops, that's right, this is the internet. You can say all this racist crap behind the veil of text. END

Notice how quickly he accuses me of being racist, when I never said anything that would be construed as that. I also informed him that I'm not hiding behind the net and I'd be glad to give him my piece of mind in person if he would like. I do it to my LLL friends all the time. ;)

Thank you all on LGF for educating me to the real truth. I did more research on Israel last night, and what would you figure? Palestine isn't really their home. Jews have been in Israel for over 3500 years. NOONE was in Palestine till these abominations moved in without anyones approval. There are many colors of jews in Israel, so it isn't racist like some believe.

I've had enough. They don't deserve a state. Period.

190 Joshua  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 6:49:59pm

Re #133:

Could someone explain this whole "refugee camp" business in the Gaza strip.

Okay. The United Nations has two main refugee programs: the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which helps refugees from most of the world, and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

These two programs have different definitions of refugee, the UNRWA one being broader. In particular, UNRWA provides that descendants of the original Palestine refugees are themselves Palestine refugees. By contrast, the convention governing UNHCR does not automatically provide that the descendants of a refugee from, say, Afghanistan or Sudan or somewhere else are themselves refugees.

The result of this is that some Palestinians who were born and have lived their entire lives in the same town in the West Bank or Gaza are considered refugees. Establishing the Palestinians living in territory governed by the Palestinian Authority as settled and no longer needing refugee services is, shall we say, not a priority of UNRWA.

The following is from UNRWA's web site at [Link: www.un.org...] :

Why did UNRWA continue its operations in the West Bank and Gaza after the Palestinian Authority was established?

The Palestinian Authority falls under the same category as the host governments of Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Until the refugee issue is solved and as long as there is a need for relief, UNRWA will continue providing services to the refugees in these areas. The Palestinian Authority strongly supports the continuation of UNRWA’s operations in support of the refugees.

Perhaps we need to get Tom Petty appointed commissioner of UNRWA:

Somewhere, somehow somebody
Must have kicked you around some
Tell me why you wanna lay there
And revel in your abandon
Listen it don't make no difference to me baby
Everybody's had to fight to be free
You see you don't have to live like a refugee
Now baby you don't have to live like a refugee

191 David  Thu, Apr 15, 2004 7:27:43pm

#190 Joshua

Yes, and under the UNRWA regime, all one needs to be classified as a "refugee" is to be a direct descendant of someone who lived in pre-1948 Israel for two years, and then buggered off when the Arabs attacked in 1948.

The definition of "refugee" applied to everyone else in the world requires the "refugee" to demonstrate a "well founded fear of persecution" on the basis of a number of factors such as religion, political opinion, ethnicity etc.

"Refugees" in Gaza and refugees from say, Zimbabwe, Saddam's Iraq or the Congo, are entirely different things, legally speaking.

Good for you! But please judge your audience with care. (See below for "gentle yenta rant.")

First, here's another little gem for you paLLLs: There is no letter "P" in Arabic.

So who cares? (smile!)

Think about it. Would you give your country a name you can't even write down? Much less pronounce? (Many have to say, "Balestine." That's as close as Arabic gets to a "P.")

Research is good, as long as you get a wide variety of sources. We all have our biases--but fairness is still possible.

Only not for "Return Comment," who is racist.

Unfortunately, your commenter apparently barfed reflexively... You said, "First off, people are always allowed to speak up." Return said, "the reason you don't want people speaking out..." The virtual earplugs are stout protection against facts.

Return also has no clue what "multicultural" means -- but it must be something good, right? And it must have something to do with a "mixed couple." Does Return understand that many "mixes" can't be seen, like religion, politics, nationalities, languages, health, wealth...

Check this out: The only "mixes" you can easily see are male/female (still very common) and *race*.

Male/female is not yet a remarkable "mixed couple." I'll bet Return meant "mixed-race couple." Return can't think of anything else but race as a mix. That is a bigoted, racist attitude. (No doubt Return's best friends are mixed-race couples...)

You will find that most screamers are screaming against the secrets of their own hearts. It can be dangerous to confront these people. They know there is something wrong "inside" and they may cheerfully "overcompensate" you right into the hospital--or the morgue.

Be careful with the string yanking, okay? :-)

Ka-boing! Thanks--I think...

Read the letter, including this bit:

although they pose no threat and own no weapons, human beings always win in the undeclared war against them.

No wonder we are winning this mythical war, since animals have no weapons or
threat
capability!

But beware! the animals are learning from Sec. Rummy--or is Iron Fist giving them lessons?

Serious again: Besides the Israeli flag, the US flag gets the "honor" of serving as saddle blanket...

And I really want to know: How many gray hairs and wrinkles does a man have to sport before he stops being a "youth"?

Why kick a donkey? What did the donkey do to deserve this?
It's all about scapegoating, isn't it?

And in the larger scheme of things, the Arabs have failed miserably in the past few centuries compared to the West. And compared to the situation in their glory days many centuries ago when the West was more backward than they were, according to common belief. Arab society cannot or will not blame themselves. They need a scapegoat. So they blame the Jews for all of their many problems and failures.

Scapegoating. It's what it's all about.

Probably been linked above, but of course the thing with PETA is their complaint to Arafat that he was using donkeys rather than civilians to carry suicide bombs. And as far as I'm aware he's stuck to using Muslims ever since. Again recently in Iraq.

Better to give the RSPCA a ring (+44) 870 55 55 999.

I'd always thought that the "palistinians" were just a bunch of pathetic pawns of the other Arab countries. This picture of a stadium-full of lazy, filthy, stupid losers tells me the whole story.
And Israel has a donkey rescue organization. What a telling difference.
Can you imagine living in a country surrounded by the trash in the picture?
Can you imagine giving any of the Holy Land to them?
Unthinkable!

Tying a picture to a donkey and kicking it is a form of political protest? This is truely messed up.

I tend to judge people on how they treat children & animals. (And potential boyfriends on how they respect their mothers - of course.)

Here's what I don't get: just how smart are our smart bombs? Why not test it on that jackass? And hopefully we spare the mule.

As politically incorrect as this is, we need to kill about 80-90 million of them before they will get the idea that they are out of step with civilization. Jackassess I mean. Not the mules, they've been unfortunately caught in the cross fire.
