Kos Kidz Launch Groundbreaking Anti-American Effort

Wed, Jun 22, 2005 at 3:15:37 pm PDT

Those Kooky Kos Kidz are keeping themselves busy with a new project; they’re going to comb through the thousands of Guantanamo Bay documents obtained by the ACLU, looking for more ammunition to use against the War on Terror and the Bush administration: Wiki Reviews Guantanamo Docs. (Hat tip: maui.)

Earlier this month, Susan Hu, a Daily Kos contributor, commenced the project, in which she and several co-organizers oversee volunteers who have agreed to review a manageable portion of the ACLU documents.

So far, at least 80 people have signed up, each taking responsibility for a specific set of documents and for publicly posting the results of their review. Together, volunteers hope they can make it through the more than 4,000 pages received by the ACLU and root out even the smallest signs of government misconduct which, without this project, they feel might otherwise go undiscovered.

While reviewing 4,000 pages might not sound like the kind of undertaking that requires dozens of volunteers, organizers say the documents frequently contain the kind of minutiae that require advanced degrees to understand and which take a great deal of time to peruse.

“Advanced degrees.” Heh.

Do they not think that the ACLU hasn't been doing the exact same thing?

Shit, why don't they just drop all pretenses and join al-Qaeda?

Since they're in a mood to comb through documents, how about going through Kerry's military records? What? Kerry hasn't released them except to friendly media organizations? Kos must have some pull with JFK II, maybe they can get them.

Look guys, again we should be applauding this.

The Democrats are asserting themselves at the party of terrorist's rights. Its nice that liberals have finally developed a backbone and finally stand for something on principle. Its just unbelievable that they happened to do that on this issue.

Why should we stop them? Let them destroy their own party. Another competitive party will develop out of their ashes. But for now, lets let the LLLs go the way of the Whigs.

From the ACLU site:

Below are documents the government did not want the general public to read -- including an FBI memo (pdf) stating that Defense Department interrogators impersonated FBI agents and used "torture techniques" against a detainee at Guantanamo.

The public has a right to know.

15 David Simon  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 1:22:54pm

The Bush Admin needs to take the constant whining about Gitmo head-on.

Stop apologizing.

Let the Democrats share their 'enlightened' approach with the country on how best to deal with the 20th hijacker, et al.

Never let the focus drift that muslim terrorists targeted 75,000 Americans for extermination on 9-11, and seek to kill millions more at the first opportunity.

"We have not reached parity with them. We have the right to kill 4 million Americans -- 2 million of them children -- and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons, so as to afflict them with the fatal maladies that have afflicted the Muslims because of the [Americans'] chemical and biological weapons."

26 zombie  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 1:31:08pm

The funny part is, they're going to comb through 4,000 pages looking for an example or two of "abuse" of some kind -- and all they'll end up proving is that 99% of the time there was no "abuse." The KOSsacks will end up proving their opponents' case.

It's the equivalent of combing through the dictionary looking for a misspelled word. After 3 years of work, you finally find one, and rush to tell everybody: "I read the entire dictionary and I found a misspelled word! The dictionary has misspellings!" The devastating (but predictable) response of the public will be, "Wow, only one misspelling in the whole dictionary? That's amazing!"

Kos is pitiable at times.

27 Northpaw  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 1:32:25pm

I can see it now.

They'll generate hundreds of supposed instances of outragous torture tales at Gitmo and it will take an infinite amount of energy to refute them (as planned). These tales will become the urban legends of the hard left and will be brought up 40 years from now as irrefutable fact. Kind of like how the Republicans stopped blacks from voting for in Florida.

Unfortunately this is about as far as they have planned. Americans are getting fed up with their petty bullshit. At least I hope so.

28 mbruce  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 1:33:19pm

Right zombie, to me it is just more proof of the genius that is Rove.

29 religion of bacon  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 1:33:21pm

ok, this is obviously a brilliant Karl Rove ploy to keep the Kos Kids safely occupied for months, plus it has the side benefit of making them go blind. Here's a sample pdf from the ACLU site.

From a quick sampling, many of these files appear to be lousy scans of the original documents, and they're hard to read, cryptic, and above all, boring.

I predict that this project peters out with very little in the way of results, although the folks who are writing that Gitmo Cookbook can probably get a couple more hummus recipes out of it...

Saeed Ahmed Mohammed Abdullab Sarem Jarabh

As you'll see, neither summary contains anything noteworthy at all: no abuse, no nothing. Just a record of the detainee's testimony. I think the kossies are only posting those ones in which the detainee claims to not be in Al-Qaeda. Yawn.

Jarallah al Marri

Jarallah is a Qatar citizen who traveled to Afghanistan through Pakistan to participate in the Jihad. He met people in Mecca who brought him to Afghanistan. He fled the camp owned by Usama bin Laden after 9/11 because the American's were going to bomb the camp. When he was arrested at the Pakistan border by the Pakistani polices, he was alone. From Kandahar to Pakistan, he took a taxi, which he paid for. He had all his paperwork and passports.

The tribunal finds the classified evidence overwhelming that the detainee is an enemy combatant...

20%: Gitmo Prisoners Treated Unfairly

Survey of 1,000 Adults

June 20-21, 2005

Treatment of Prisoners at Guantanomo Bay
Unfair 20%
Better than they deserve 36%
About Right 34%

RasmussenReports.com

June 22, 2005--A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 20% of Americans believe prisoners at Guantanamo Bay have been treated unfairly. Seven-out-of-ten adults believe the prisoners are being treated "better than they deserve" (36%) or "about right" (34%).

The survey also found that just 14% agree with people who say that prisoner treatment at Guantanamo Bay is similar to Nazi tactics. Sixty-nine percent disagree with that comparison. This helps explain why Illinois Senator Dick Durbin apologized for making such a comparison.

Partisan differences concerning prisoner treatment are huge. Only 7% of Republicans believe Guantanamo prisoners are treated unfairly. Thirty percent (30%) of Democrats hold that view along with 22% of those not affiliated with either major party.

Forty-five percent (45%) of Republicans say the prisoners are treated better than they deserve. That view is shared by 28% of Democrats.

Still waiting for those John Kerry military records that you said proved Charles to be a liar...

After rereading Charles' post, I see nothing there which expresses fear. Judging by our records, we treat these illegal combatants with kid gloves. Actually, given their status under the Geneva Conventions and given who these people are, there is no need to give them Korans and gourmet meals. We do this nevertheless probably because we are expecting to be scrutinized and we know lefties like you would love an opportunity to make gratuitous attacks on the righteousness of the US military. Methinks, given there is no fear in Charles' comment, that you are projecting... probably the fear that the left will further be exposed as expressing all emotion and no logic.

73 Sarah D.  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 2:03:04pm

From an investigation into alleged abuses as related in a Playboy article. No - I'm not kidding.

Alleged:

Rape
Shooting in the leg
Assault while restrained
Digging at wounds
Shooting unarmed civilian vehicles
Shooting wounded Iraqi soldiers

What they decided:

"A thorough investigation of the below cited allegations did not develop sufficient evidence to prove or disprove the allegations occurred as written in the Playboy article. After conducting numerous interviews of unit personnel assigned to B CO 1/15th in Ft. Benning, GA, this investigation could not determine the alleged incidents actually occur or did not occur. Further complicating investigative efforts was the alleged potential victims could not be identified, located, or interviewed. In addition, there are indications the author of the article did not verify or validate the information collected prior to publishing the article."

What this really is, is a gross misuse of our tax monies. Some lib writes a piece like that, and the military feels obligated to check it out.

In a weird way I salute the effort, as wrongheaded as it is, because it will sooner or later inspire those of us who want to win the war to direct similar efforts in support of the war.

This is the real value of blogs: directed, disciplined swarming behavior to accomplish massive research projects. Use your imagination.

You who build these altars now
to sacrifice these children,
you must not do it anymore.
A scheme is not a vision
and you never have been tempted
by a demon or a god.
You who stand above them now,
your hatchets blunt and bloody,
you were not there before,
when I lay upon a mountain
and my father's hand was trembling
with the beauty of the word.

94 BabbaZee  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 2:26:27pm

Time is on the side of the aggressor and works against his intended victim. For it gradually washes out of our minds the past moment of danger, the time when the aggressor sought to attack, plunder and destroy.

That moment of awful truth from which the victim was barely saved fades from his memory. And with the receding of the terrible reality comes arguments cloaked in the peculiar morality that flourishes in the rarefied air of the ivory tower.

With the passing of the danger, as the waves of time roll over the stark monuments to that moment of extinction, we turn away from the men to whom we rushed for safety, the generals and the soldiers that exist in the harsh world of reality, and we begin to listen to unreal academics , whose frustrations and envy of the men of reality are too often mistaken for spiritual and moral loftiness.

Our combination of weariness and forgetfulness turns us away from common sense and into the arms of the denizens of the ivory tower - the demagogues and opportunists.

It is in moments like this that we throw away sanity and loose the strength that alone can save us.

Pity nobody taught the troll nodroG any manners... or to at least to respect people with whom you are in discourse.

Treating others with respect requires maturity, confidence, and self-respect. Gordo has none of these qualities. He is basically a rather dim-witted person who desperately longs for validation, and since he is incapable of getting it on his own merits, he seeks attention by casting himself in the role of irritant, acting like a self-righteous prick and completely ignoring evidence that the talking points he spews are always discredited, often easily.

In a way, I pity him. The same way you pity the dumb, obnoxious kid in school who can't keep up with his peers and so he mocks the social acceptance he can not have.

While reviewing 4,000 pages might not sound like the kind of undertaking that requires dozens of volunteers, organizers say the documents frequently contain the kind of minutiae that require advanced degrees to understand and which take a great deal of time to peruse.

And by "advanced degree" they mean something on the line of Woments Studies, Herstory or Gay Themes in Letters of the Founding Fathers.

From Kos (The F*ck Man) himself:

Boy, did he get that right. I've been calling for the war cheerleaders to put words into action -- to enlist or encourage their circle of influence to enlist. They like to say "freedom isn't free", yet they refuse to pay the price. They expect others to foot the bill.

But they haven't. So the debate is over. They have proven by their inaction and silence that they don't think this war is worthy of sacrifice.

Now, all that's left is withdrawal, and hope
the Iraqis can make sense of the mess.

Hell, I'll volunteer to go to Gitmo and take charge of the torture. Our troops are cracker-jack in the field, and I can't improve on the bang-up job they are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, but if the worst they can do is play Goldilocks with the terrorists at Gitmo and make them too hot or too cold, well, they need some lessons in advanced cruelty.

Hell's bells, I cause more pain to my students simply demonstrating techniques than we've inflicted on the terrorists at Gitmo. And that is no lie. Small-circle jujitsu and pressure-point techniques both hurt. When you combine the two, you have a recipe for absolute amusement :-)

The pompous, hypocritical little shit has absolutely no shame.

My guess is the KOS kids dont have any yet.

Ah, but remember what was going 'round on DUMB a few weeks back:

Kids are an economic burden of profound proportions that the republicans use to enslave people by making the parents run so hard on the wheel to cover the economics of kids that nothing is left.

They hate kids. And if combing through files to find a trumped-up charge to smear America, and encourage another Beslan to happen here, so much the better to them.

Amazing - aren't all those on the right stupid? Except for the ones who write the Gitmo docs. Then it takes the upper echelons of the intellectually superior liberal community to tease apart the insidious Da Vinci codes detailing the sinister machinations of the evil right. We must be wasting most of the right's mental horsepower just to give the moonbats a better puzzle than the NY Times does on Sunday.

Just wondering:
How many people working at a job never make a mistake? How many people going through life's daily actions never slip up? Especially those trusted with the daunting tasks of prisoner 'upkeep'?
My word, I would venture to say that domestic prisoner abuse, although obviously not advocated, just might be greater than terrorist abuse?
Again, the left thinks the world should be nirvana and therefore, if it's not, then it's a gulag.
I've for a long time have envisioned a scenario where, when a reporter arrogantly tries to put dirt on someone, that someone is able to respond with an intimate dirt detail against that reporter in front of many witnesses, with the resultant horrified expression on the reporter's face.
That's what should happen with these Kids.

Actually the title is going to be "How the F*ck did I get here?"

The title came from my buddy. He was in Baghdad under the crossed swords and the next he knew him and I were walking behind the caisson for RWR.

Him and I have been in some really weird places. We were even at the event in NYC where Denise Rich paid off Slick Willy.

Actually I would like to put the terrorists in Gitmo under the Geneva Convention.

Then we could execute them for being out of uniform. That's what we did in 1945-46 to the Werewolves in Germany. I have photos of werewolves being executed for killing American soldiers.

The truth is we a feeling our way in how to treat prisoners in the GWOT. We are bending over backwards to be fair, but we are getting no credit for it.

The fact that there are no pre-established standards allows people like Nodrog and the KOS kids to imagine the worst.

The fact the Al Qaeda operatives are trained to allege torture no matter what (and the MSM will believe them) means we are going to be hammered no matter what.

IMO we should ignore the left. They can only hurt us if we pay attention to them.

You really have to be a rabid anti-American to resort to this kind of extreme dumpster diving. Of course, the moonbats now kind of have to: the latest poll shows that 70% of America is too smart to believe the Big Lie that the anti-American aliiance of the Left, the Islamofascists, and the Mainstream Media have all been jointly trying to spread.

To put the Kids' actions in perspective, what would those of their grandparent's generation have done:

Of course, this isn't the first time volunteer labor has been used to solve a big problem. During World War II, it took a large number of volunteer analysts to break Germany’s super-secret Enigma cipher machines.

So, it appears the Kiddies are merely carrying on a proud tradition.

Playboy has become a moonbat-infested rag since 9/11. It might have been on the liberal fringes before, but it is downright scary now. At this point, any normal guy who says "I read it for the articles" is either a liar or out of his mind. Even its fiction is terrible. I don't know why any male would buy that rag when Maxim or FHM is on the same rack (apologies for sounding like a Neanderthal).

I wonder if crazy old Hugh Hefner even knows what his daughter has done to the magazine. Probably not - he still thinks it is 1972 and is wondering why Deano and Ol' Blue Eyes haven't shown up yet with Hunter S Thompson.

243 christheprofessor  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 5:20:01pm

As a man with two advanced degrees, I find the notion that these documents "frequently contain the kind of minutiae that require advanced degrees to understand" to be so arrogant as to be ridiculous.

I also find their comparison of their anti-American efforts to the WW2 efforts to break the German Enigma machine offensive.

All else being equal, if John Kerry were president, these assholes would have nothing to say.

250 Axe Wielding Liberal Paddler  Wed, Jun 22, 2005 5:48:48pm

These are the essential rules for dealing with these 10th Century Ass Pirates....

1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.

2. Close with your enemy. Destroy him by fire and maneuver. Fix him in place and open a can of whoop-ass on his position.

3. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

4. Don't drop your guard.

5. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them).

6. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.

7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.

The fact that the Kos Kidz have a terminal case of cranius rectumis is most likely why they are traitorous, seditious asshats who will have no way of understanding these rules or how the application of them will save their lives.

They are going to be the human shields for the Al Qaeda invasion that is certain to come if they keep it up. Hope Al-Qaeda kills them slowly.

It takes "advanced degrees" to do entry level beginners paralegal work-- on only 4000 entire pages of documents? Any paralegal or clerk on their first job right of college or high school has to sift through sometimes millions of pages of documents...

Oh, I forget, liberals are the "smart" party, as in John Kerry grade C, 76 average smart, as in how Al Gore became the first person in history to flunk out of divinity school, as in Jimmy Carter's one science class in community college that made him a "nuclear engineer".

Face it, few can contend with the magnitude of intellectualism and nuance emanating from the ACLU. That's why they believe so many Marxist lies, they're so "smart"...
