Israel's Enemies Part of UN Force

Fri, Aug 18, 2006 at 8:38:17 am PDT

Among the so-called “peacekeepers” in the UN’s toothless international force, supposed to guard Israel’s northern border and prevent Hizballah from reestablishing itself, are two Islamic nations who do not recognize Israel’s right to exist: Israel alarm at UN force members. (Hat tip: Kragar.)

Israel says it would be “difficult if not inconceivable” to accept nations which do not recognise its right to exist as part of a UN force in Lebanon.

Israeli UN envoy Dan Gillerman was speaking after Indonesia and Malaysia, which do not recognise Israel, pledged troops for the UN deployment.

Malaysia said Israel should have no say in the make-up of the force.

The UN, of course, seems to have no problem with this sickening state of affairs. And our own government has signed off on this appalling bit of useless appeasement. The world has gone nuts.
