Blog Wars on Sundance

Thu, Dec 28, 2006 at 6:30:57 pm PST

Airing tonight on the Sundance Channel: Blog Wars, featuring yours truly and many other bloggers I’m sure you’ll recognize, some with fondness, some with ... uh ... less than fondness. It’s a fascinating look into the Kos-driven angry left blog network that failed to smash Joe Lieberman’s campaign, and touches on many other blogosphere issues.

I was wary of bias going into this, given its BBC/Sundance origins (call me Mr. Suspicious), but it’s quite well done. Sure, there’s way too much Kos, and way too much Hamsher... but at the end, after all their pontificating and mean-spirited exulting, they lose.

I have the Slamdance Channel. We're watching Rutgers right now, but I'll be sure to TiVo it either way.

I'll fart in Kos' general direction when I see his traitorous little bony ass. I went to a Chili's for the first time in my existence tonight so I have a solid supply of gas.

I guess I'll have to tune to the Sundance channel for the first ( and probably last ) time

But you can't look away

I'm the best you can get

Have you guessed me yet?

I'm the slime oozin' out

From your TV set

Sweet.

THE POVERTY PIMPS' POEM

Let us celebrate the poor,
Let us hawk them door to door.

There's a market for their pain,
Votes and glory and money to gain.

Let us celebrate the poor.

Their ills, their sins, their faulty diction
Flavor our songs and spice our fiction.

Their hopes and struggles and agonies
Get us grants and consulting fees.

Celebrate thugs and clowns,
Give their ignorance all renown.

Celebrate what holds them down,
In our academic gowns.

Let us celebrate the poor.

We're entering an age of accountability, foretold for 7,000 years! This transition is one of the rockiest parts of the ride...

Slippin into darkness
Take my mind beyond the trees
I was slippin into darkness
Take my mind beyond the trees

Where I talk to my brother, oh, oh, oh
Who never said their name

Slippin into darkness
When I heard my mother say
I was slippin into darkness
When I heard my mother say
Hey, whatd she say, whatd she say

You been slippin into darkness, oh, oh, oh
Pretty soon youre gonna pay

F 5 THE FAT MAN

41 looking closely  Thu, Dec 28, 2006 5:14:26pm
In 2004, political bloggers came of age. They propelled Howard Dean from fringe candidate to front-runner. They took on Dan Rather and won. And they charted the course for the "swiftboating" of John Kerry. As the 2006 mid-term elections approached, bloggers were preparing for battle again. Filmmakers James Rogan and Phil Craig's sharp documentary examines how online democratic activism is shaping important elections by focusing on the decisive Connecticut senate race and Ned Lamont's challenge to incumbent Joe Lieberman.

"They" took on Rather and won, but "they" took on Lieberman and lost.

I also notice that Howard Dean is not only NOT sitting in the White House right now, he didn't even make the Democrat cut.

Hmm. . .

Maybe different "theys" are at work here, what do you think?

Hell's bells, I won't even subscribe to HBO. If the dumbshits running that outfit would just tell me what I would get if I upgraded one notch, I'd do it. But the bastards are like dealing with the friggin' government: Ask a simple question and abject fear strikes their hearts.

113 saywhat?  Thu, Dec 28, 2006 7:36:44pm

Well, I count myself as one of the unfortunate souls with an incurable curiosity streak having access to the Sundance channel and a tv tonight (hey, I've got 4 kids home for the holiday!).

I'm not sure why Charles felt this program was balanced. It more resembled an excessively long Kos infomercial or an episode of the History/Biography Channel celebrating Kos (by far Markos enjoyed the lions share of attention).

Balanced? In my estimate, the damn thing offered less than 20% input from the entire conservative side. Though I have to admit, Charles your segments were delivered in the calm rational manner I read here.

Michelle Malkin's responses were intellectually sound and her emotions were justifiable but in this programs context - she came off B**chy. Geeez, I never thought I'd say that. Amazing how context can be distorted.

As difficult as it was to stomach the program, I believe there are several frames that qualify as gems for future use. (Allahpundit I hope you taped it!) Specifically the segments with Kos admitting that he and fellow liberal bloggers do not yield the power his readers perceive it to have. His record speaks for itself . . .Kos' endorsement is the kiss of death for any politician.

Only caught the last fifteen minutes, but, I think I know what you meant by they 'lose', there's still the question of the ballot box.

I normally avoid Sundance Channel like a festering boil, but I'll make an exception and watch this. Thomas Sowell is great and is Walter E. Williams! they are two of my favrotie columnists! Dr Williams will be in for Rush today and he often has Dr Sowell call in. It is one of the best 3 hours on radio at any time.

100 cheers for Charles in his persistant effort to combat and expose the stupidity, hypocrisy, and hatred for our American way of life by demented utopians.

here's a petition to spam.

its only spammable in a limited fashion - the "organization/affiliation" field is the only room for play really, but its not moderated up front.

It's airing again on Saturday (12/30/06) at 7:00 P.M. EST. My Time Warner cable program guide describes it as: Online Democratic activism shapes important elections.

Dont sweat the "fairness" of the sundance channel. Its' all about who actually made the film that you have to worry about.
I once was on there and saw a movie called "avtomatov Kalashnikova", it was about the AK-47 weapon and its creator who is still alive BTW. Im a gun nut in case you didnt know. ;) The movie was suprisingly good and completely impartial. In fact they actually showed some parts of American "gun culture" that i thought were great, such as the Annual Knob creek shoot, etc. Then i said "this is being showed on the sundance channel? Are'nt they like uber libtards? turns out they can be fair if they want to be.

Yes! They're a neighboring community. We serve them as an emergency assistance program.
They have verbal support - thanks for the link to send them some $$$.
