Breaking: Attack on Glasgow Airport

Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 8:33:16 am PDT

Things are getting crazy: Burning Car In Airport Terminal.

A jeep has driven into the terminal building at Glasgow airport and caught fire, police have confirmed.

Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud “bangs” and saw a man on fire.

Police say it is too early to say whether the incident - which comes after failed car bomb attacks on London - was related to terrorism.

James Edgar told Sky News: “People were running past like they has missed their flight.

”They told us all to get out of the airport.

“Everyone was in a panic and police and security were scuffling with an Asian gentleman.”

It is thought two men had been in the Cherokee jeep and one of their clothes caught fire.

Sky’s Mark White said: “This is a significant incident that’s unfolding.”

UPDATE at 6/30/07 8:43:01 am:

The BBC has more information: Car on fire crashes into airport.

Eyewitnesses have described a Jeep Cherokee being driven at speed towards the building with flames coming out from underneath.

They have also described seeing two Asian men, one of whom was on fire, who had been in the car.

The airport has been evacuated and all flights suspended following the incident at 1515 BST.

One eyewitness said: “I heard the sound of a car’s wheels spinning and smoke coming out. I saw a Jeep Cherokee apparently as if it was trying to get right through the doors into the terminal building. There were flames coming out from underneath then some men appeared from in amongst the flames. The police ran over and the people started fighting with the police. I then heard what sounded like an explosion.“

Eye-witness Richard Gray told BBC News 24: ”A green Jeep was in the middle of the doorway burning. There was an Asian guy who was pulled out of the car by two police officers, who he was trying to fight off. They’ve got him on the ground. The car didn’t actually explode. There were a few pops and bangs which presumably was the petrol.“

UPDATE at 6/30/07 8:53:29 am:

Fox News reports that there have been four people arrested...

UPDATE at 6/30/07 9:03:21 am:

One of the cars involved in yesterday’s attacks was observed by security cameras in Scotland...

Eyewitness reports now confirming that this was no accident, but a deliberate attack...

UPDATE at 6/30/07 9:08:39 am:

An eyewitness account from Sky News (hat tip: Egfrow):

Eyewitness on Sky TV: Car was full of gas cans. Driver and passenger were throwing gasoline all around the scen after they crashed the SUV into the terminal door. After ramming an airport gate, the guy charged the terminal with flames beginning to burst from the vehicle, angling it in order to best ram through the glass terminal door and kill passengers inside. One man from the vehicle burst into flames. Amidst the fire and chaos, the terrorists were wrestled to the ground by taxi drivers and passengers.

UPDATE at 6/30/07 9:14:35 am:

From Sky News:

UPDATE at 6/30/07 9:28:47 am:

From the BBC:

UPDATE at 6/30/07 9:37:09 am:

Another eyewitness account at the Daily Mail: Blazing jeep crashes into British airport

Eyewitness said two Asian men were in a Jeep Cherokee which was driven at speed with flames coming out from underneath at 3.15pm this afternoon.

After the crash, one of men, whose clothes were on fire, jumped out of the car and ran into the terminal building where he was tackled by a heroic holidaymaker.

Police then jumped on top of him as flames continued to rise from his body while terrified onlookers fled in all directions.

One eye witness who knocked the terrorist suspect over with his forearm said: “The man was wrestling with police on the ground.

”I had seen him and the other man get out of the car. The flames were burning through his clothes. Police were telling everybody to get back.

“Some people who were close by shouted ”let him burn“. I saw the holidaymaker who had tackled him with blood streaming from his face and I myself had knocked into him with my forearm.”

The pair were held down before police led them away.

I'm thinking they set the car on fire and then intended to drive it into the terminal building. Any sane person would have gotten the hell out of the vehicle, not hit the accelerator!

They said something about scuffling with an "Asian gentleman". From what I recall of previous articles, "Asian" is a euphemism for "Muslim" in most European reporting.

Witnesses said people removed gas cylinders from the jeep before it caught fire.

Police say it is too early to say whether the incident - which comes after failed car bomb attacks in London - was related to terrorism.

Police, fire crews and ambulances are at the scene.

He said: "There was an Asian male. He was lying on the floor and he was on fire, the Jeep was on fire as well.

Security alert at Ibiza airport

Police have carried out a controlled explosion at the airport on the Spanish
holiday island of Ibiza, after the building was evacuated.

The airport was cleared after Basque newspaper Gara, often used for claims
by separatist group Eta, said it had received an anonymous threat.

Spain has been on alert since Eta declared an end to a unilateral ceasefire
on 5 June.

Ibiza attracts thousands of mainly European holidaymakers annually.

Gara said on its website that it had received a phone call warning of an
"explosive device" at the airport.

The building was evacuated at about lunchtime and shortly afterwards a
low-level explosion was heard.

Some 300 arrivals and departures were scheduled for Saturday, but the
airport has been closed to outgoing and incoming flights, said the AENA
airport authority, which controls Spain's airports.

Spanish authorities have been braced for a possible attack since Eta
announced the end to what it had called a permanent ceasefire.

Despite the ceasefire, two people were killed in a bomb explosion at
Madrid's Barajas airport in December.

Burning Car In Airport Terminal
Updated: 16:23, Saturday June 30, 2007

A jeep has driven into the terminal building at Glasgow airport and caught fire, police have confirmed.
Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud “bangs” and saw a man on fire.

The scene
It is thought a Cherokee 4×4 smashed through security barriers at the airport, the busiest in Scotland.

Police say it is too early to say whether the incident - which comes after failed car bomb attacks on London - was related to terrorism.

James Edgar told Sky News: “People were running past like they has missed their flight.

Sky Update: Four people have now been arrested.

Waiting on Larry C Johnson's Update in light of this. Because up to now, it's all been a Crock of Crap.

Update [2007-6-29 18:35:0 by L C Johnson]: UPDATE: Ahh, the panic continues. Yuppie terrorists are on the loose. Now we're being told there are two cars (both Mercedes I might add) with a Rube Goldberg contraption consisting of propane tanks, some petrol, a light bulb (or maybe light bulb filaments), etc. A propane tank explosion makes a hell of a noise but does not create widespread shrapnel dispersion. Busted eardrums and broken glass are more likely. Getting these tanks to explode is difficult. The ones I have witnessed occurred when a house under construction caught on fire. But there is nothing in two 25lb propane tanks inside a Mercedes that will detonate with sufficient force to shred the automobile and send hundreds to meet their Allah, God, Buddha, or whatever. Still a crock of hype and over-reaction. Let the police do their job. Investigate the culprits and get these nitwits out of circulation before they harm themselves.

I haven't laughed so hard since that National Lampoon advertisement about VW Beetles, Ted Kennedy and Chappaquitick.

Item #2:

"Got a light?" -- christheprofessor

Reminded me of an incident in the 82d in the very early 70s.

We stood down from an exercise and were watching a movie on a portable projection screen.

While they were changing the reels, there was a WHUMP! and a flash from a GP Small about 20 meters to the rear of the screen.

Some guy came running out of the tent covered in flames. [Note: The fool had tried to light a space heater stove after fueling it with gasoline instead of diesel.]

Everyone in the audience was quite for about 3 seconds. Then someone, in a dry voice, said, "Anybody got a light?"

At which point half a hundred guys jumped up. Jumped on the burning guy and started rolling him around in the dirt, while another group jumped into the burning tent to see if we needed to save anyone else.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security, has rejected a proposal that Iran would stop enriching uranium in exchange for the Security Council refraining from imposing additional sanctions on Tehran.

The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Boroujerdi referred to the proposal as "old" and said that it was not suitable for solving the Iranian nuclear issue. He added that the proposal was acceptable to Tehran in the first place. (

Definate "work accident", in as much as they botched the detonation again!

Botched detonation is becoming emblematic of British Jihadbots.

The car caught fire prematurely causing the terrorists (Indo-asians) to leap to safety before they could kill anyone. One of the terrorists was in flames. Both were set upon by local Glaswegian and later arrested.

Currently, one is in a police cell, the other is in hospital being treated for severe burns.

No deaths, no 72 virgins, one terrorist in abject pain and both facing the prospect of 25 years in prison.

stu·pid (stū'pĭd, styū'-) pronunciation
adj., -er, -est.

1. Slow to learn or understand; obtuse.
2. Tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes.
3. Marked by a lack of intelligence or care; foolish or careless: a stupid mistake.
4. Dazed, stunned, or stupefied.
5. Pointless; worthless: a stupid job.

They are not stupid. I've worked in the Middle East and from my experience with their culture, I will no longer engage in business with them, due to the shrewdness and values of the majority, both pauper and prince. A couple of thousand years as middle men on the trade routes between East and West will do that for a civilization.

Human intelligence is not a racial characteristic, but how it is employed is a cultural one.

This happen in a Fire Dept. not far from mine when I worked for the FD.

Station catches fire one night, patrol cop wakes up the crew in the station. Fire is located around and behind the Aid Unit. The guys manage to get an engine out and start attacking the fire. As the hose crew gets inside the oxygen storage failed, the guys get engulfed in the fire ball and knocked back.

They get pulled out, packaged and set off to the ER. In the ER the Dr. is getting a history on one the guys and asked another firefighter, "does he smoke?" "Not since we put him out." was the reply.

Both guys were okay minor flash burns and bruises.

Perhaps, but hey man, it's not like one has to be a rocket scientist.......imho....

There are signs that terrorists too are trying to create thermobaric weapons. For instance, in 2002 a tanker truck was used in a suicide attack on a synagogue in Tunisia, thought to be the work of Al-Qaida. Some experts think the way the fuel tanks were rigged with explosives shows a knowledge of fuel-air explosive techniques.

Designs for a fuel-air device were also acquired by the CIA from three alleged IRA members on trial in Colombia. The three are said to have been developing the bomb in conjunction with the country's FARC guerrilla group. "Although an IRA/Al-Qaida collaboration seems unlikely, the bottom line is that their respective manuals are probably in circulation," says David Ritzel, an explosives expert working for the DRDC.

In light of your superior coding skills, vis-a-vis these wonderful modifications you've been making here...

...move them to a 'special' place, i.e., a 'dungeon'. It could serve as something of a freak-show. Something to show people how ugly some people can get.

You could establish a button that only you could see that would allow you to automatically (1) move offensive comments to that area and (2) make it so that all other comments from the offender were moved their automatically...until you, in your mercy, chose to release the offender from the 'phantom zone'.

Just a thought I've been toying with for my blog.

I suppose that the video Fox is showing is looped, and no longer current. That said, it looked as though the fire laddies were not having any success at all with the flames, which had clearly spread from the vehicle to the building itself.

Airports have lots of firefighting gear, foam trucks, etc in case of air crashes. Why are we seeing what appears to be such a lame fire response? No foam, not much equipment.

In any case, as with London, the UK seems to have dodged another bullet. If the vehicle had succeeded in driving directly into the interior of a crowded terminal, one would expect a lot of casualties.

The quiet influencers behind the scenes and apparent wannbe allies are the the dangerous ones. They are helping the Koran worshipers to build weapons, gather intelligence, and plan tactics.

They at the same time pretend to be helping us fight them. It is impossible for the purest form of that ideology to even remotely come close to disrupting Western civilization without direct assistance from inside our own culture. Yesterday Little Winger and I were talking. He is fed up with the Muslims. I asked him if while he was over in Iraq, did he not meet ANY nice muslims?

True. But people who wanted to see them would have to go SPECIFICALLY to a place where they were kept, knowing such comments were considered 'offensive'.

Charles is going to be condemned anyway you look at it. The very fact that this web-site is operational is 'reason' enough for condemnation, in the eyes of some lunatics.

At least with this mode of operation, he can still point out all he is doing today as well as pointing out what he considers 'offensive' AND maintaining 'freedom of speech'; even for those who a lot of us wouldn't care to hear from in the first place.

I'm curious -- is the 'Asian' designation common for people of Middle Eastern descent, in the UK?

Wouldn't surprise me, as in my experience the British use language in a far more exact way than we Americans -- the 'Asians' are indeed from Asia -- and that, moreover, not saying 'Middle Eastern' is in line with the British desire to roll back the colonial way of thinking.

Near East, Middle East, and Far East were, of course, all measurements of distance from the crown.

I saw a Fox story that included the term 'Asians,' but only within quotes from eyewitnesses. Fox doesn't have the liberty to change that, and really, until more specific information comes out -- that they were from Pakistan, etc -- Fox sort of has to go with what's out there.

Judging by the reaction of bystanders at the airport, though, I'm guessing the guys were Middle Eastern. If they had been, say, Japanese, I expect bystanders would have assumed the crash was a horrible accident and rushed in to help the driver.

"I'm curious -- is the 'Asian' designation common for people of Middle Eastern descent, in the UK?"

My understanding is that in Britain people from the Mid-East (except Israel) are referred to as "Asian", while those from India and Pakistan are referred to as "South Asian", and those from China, Japan, Korea as "Oriental".

I'm beginning to get seriously annoyed.

So am I. I'm frustrated that PC minded media and Liberal left-wing nutjobs are not doing anything but appeasing Islamic fascists.

The intent of my statement being that if we(infidels) did something like this to a mosque or a muslim site, oh my god, all hell would break loose and everything in sight would be burned or bombed.

I think a number of lizards might agree.

You want to throw me out for that, oh well. Maybe Fanaticism isn't only the property of Islamists after all.

432 Colonel Panik  Sat, Jun 30, 2007 10:42:09am

Regarding the "Asian" thing, the Brits refer to people from the Indian Subcontinent as well as the Far East as Asian. So my guess is these terrs are Pakistani or Kashmiri Muslims, like Islamic Rage Boy.

'Asian' refers to those from Pakistan and India usually. As for the rest it's usually just Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.

"I'm curious -- is the 'Asian' designation common for people of Middle Eastern descent, in the UK?"

Yes kind of. Asian is the usual way they describe people from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh etc. People from the middle east would be termed arab, persian etc. I don't think the term Oriental is used much nowadays however. They would state Chinese, Japanese etc.

You have about ten seconds of clothes burning before it gets to your skin and really makes things uncomfortable. Maybe a little more if you are wearing a full coat. Looks like it was a rainy day (fine Scottish Weather) so these lice were probably wearing coats.

With the amphetamines and the adrenaline, the scumbags would probably not even know they were on fire until it hit skin.
Anyone who has ever been a teenager knows how much you can get done with your hands in ten seconds...

I wonder if they ran around like Ricky Bobby screaming for Tom Cruise to save them with his witchcraft?
I hear Tom Cruise is big in "Asia".

Asians...

Is technically more correct than "Middle Eastern", especially considering that so many of Britain's people-of-color are from Pakistan and India. These two countries are a LONG way from "Middle East". Even old Persia is questionable to consider being in the M.E.

But let's put the qabash on prevaricating: and English newsservice's "Asian" in context of "Terror" means "Muslim". There are no Hindus in Britain attempting to upend the crown with subway and airport attacks. No people from Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Tibet. Maybe some from Bengladesh - curiously Islamic a coincidence? - and maybe some from India. Certainly a whole lot from Pakistan.

And why? Because the Crown didn't just hand over the purse to the fecund Pakis? No. Because there's a madness that has infested the Islamic world, that prevents what would otherwise be real "gentlemen" from cobbling together bombs to harm the populus to make some abstreuse point. A madness that prevents the Islamics male and female, young and old, from seriously coming forth to declare that they're morally opposed to the attacks. A madness that has sons emulating some scruffy, gawking, liver-lipped crackpot with a quarter billion bucks and no good sense as to how to spend it.

Islam, not the West, is at war. Islam has been at war with "The West" in particular, but its neighbors too for a very long time. Islam is a creepy 'captured at birth' pseudo-religion that uniquely on this planet proclaims its peaceful intentions, yet foments its adherants to military action. It is astoundingly primitive in its belief that it alone holds all the answers, and worse that anyone not believing deserves to be taxed, tortured, and at the whim of the unelected aggressor, killed if need be.

Islam is at war with the West now, to take what it CAN, not what it has right to. Like a man-with-a-gun in a old age home, it aims to cause the freedoms and liberties of this hard-won, resposibly run society to be cut off, from within. New York is considering banning public photography - because of the fear induced in its people from the 9/11 attacks. And from them hearing, and thinking, on the Madrid, London, Glasgow, India attacks. People run scared, and will begin to shoot at (or run from) shadows. Liberty? It is the hardest right to obtain, and the easiest to have taken away.

And it is our self-responsible Liberty itself that is being rent asunder by piecemeal terrorism.

Yet I know that society will ultimately know what to do. The Spanish figured it out: throw them back into the sea, and run a 100 year Inquisition to find 'em, and deal with their ilk. Liberals (and Islam) holds out The Inquisition as a bad thing. Compare Spanish self-determination following the expulsion of the Moors to the Moorish occupation. There would have never been a Renaissance in Iberia, let alone in Europe, had the gates of Vienna been taken and held by the mauraders of the Mohammedan way. Europe remembers, and will know what to do.

And so will America, and so will Britain.

The pressure in the pot just ain't enough to blow her Cool yet. Our charming and erudite Brit sisters and brothers are just not having enough fine old ale spilled yet to have them muster their resolve. But the Islamics seem hell-bent to see if they can get the ultimate reaction.

When it comes, they'll all act so surprised.

Well, at least there's plenty of room in Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Chad, Sudan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia, Qatar, the UAE, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, Mauritania, and so forth. Plenty of room for 20 million or so deportees.

Ethnic cleansing?

If its good enough for the Islamics to render on their hosts ...

Anyone who believes that giving the bloodthirsty lunatics at that protest any concessions at all, is a fool of the highest order.
