The only reason this debate is not happening here in the US is because of the complete cowardice of the US media.

Could one, under their proposed laws, say "Islam is a falsehood" and could one say "given xyz about Mohammed's life (from either the Qu'ran or another source), he was clearly no prophet"? I imagine not, because no doubt Muslims are already protected under the same laws protecting other minorities as cited by the Egyptian ambassador, so I'm not sure what exactly they would be requesting so as to protect Mohammed, who is long dead. Freedom to criticise religion makes no exception of Judaism, and Muslims themselves have no compunction in criticising homosexuality. All in all it seems an ill-thought request, sure to be rebuffed even if respect is paid.

Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu was arrested in Colorado late Thursday after a judge issued an arrest warrant when he failed to show up for a court appearance related to a felony theft conviction.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents took Mr. Hsu into custody at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., FBI spokesman Joseph Schadler said.

Earlier Thursday, spokesmen for Mr. Hsu and the California Attorney General's Office said they had no clue about his whereabouts. His lawyers declined to comment.

A California judge issued a bench warrant for Mr. Hsu's arrest Wednesday after he failed to show up for a hearing in San Mateo County Superior Court on 1991 grand-theft charges. Mr. Hsu had failed to appear for a 1992 sentencing hearing after pleading no contest in that case.

The case was dormant until last week, when The Wall Street Journal and others wrote about Mr. Hsu's fund-raising activities. After state authorities said they still wanted to pursue the case, Mr. Hsu turned himself in last Friday and was released on $2 million bail. He was to appear in court this week to surrender his passport and discuss having his bail reduced.

Instead, Mr. Hsu failed to show up at the bail-reduction hearing and a judge issued a new arrest warrant for him.

California Attorney General spokesman Gareth Lacy said Mr. Hsu's lawyers told prosecutors that the fund-raiser arrived by charter jet at the Oakland airport about 5:30 a.m. Pacific time on Wednesday and then wasn't heard from again.

Very rationally I strongly dislike all muslims; I do not like their attitudes towards women, races and non-believers, even those of us who are of The Book but have not accepted Mohammed, and I cannot tell which of them is truly tolerant and which is lying. Very rationally I fear all of them since I cannot tell which of them wants to take my life without any warning. I cannot avoid certain neighborhoods, behaviors or habits - all rational defense mechanisms - to protect myself. They know this and this is the core of the assymetric plan of war they have laid out.

This really is their mindset. Their religion tells them they are superior to all the kufir and they are the ones who will be running the world. In other threads, people have noted how, during their initial hearings they were smug, smiling and confident. Only after the feds took the case and the sudden realization that people were serious about putting them away did we get the puffy-eyed teary piece from the AP reporter.

How could these two be so smug and confident when faced with the fact of how they had been arrested and the serious nature of being caught with explosives near a Navy base? Think about how they most likely had been treated very deferentially at USF. They saw how other Islamists had been treated with kid gloves, to the point that they most likely felt immune to any criticism by anyone on that campus. I would hypothesize they extended that type of deferential treatment to be expected from all US citizens, thus reinforcing the radical islamist notion that Americans are weak and stupid. So, when the local Sheriff pulled them over with their cargo in South Carolina, they probably felt pretty confident that all they would need to do would be smile, wave their hands and say, "these are not bombs you see, they are left over fireworks from our fourth of July celebration" and the Sheriff would woodenly state, "these are not pipe bombs, they are fireworks, move along". Even after being arrested, they probably viewed this as a temporary inconvenience that the ACLU and CAIR would scramble to fix. When the real federal charges came, it most likely came as a cold shock that maybe Americans aren't quite as dumb as the universities, main stream media, and ACLU have been leading the jihadists to believe.

Sweden would do the world a great service by growing a spine and telling the islamist ambassadors to take their demands, stick them where the sun don't shine and get their backsides out of Sweden before they were arrested for loitering.

Sweden does need to change some laws...mostly immigration ones. Such as, Law #1 - No more Muslim immigrants allowed into Sweden, and Law #2 - Newly arrived immigrants have to go out and get a job, rather than sit around and demand that their new country be converted into their old country.

I think that the issue is that some do not see themselves as immigrants, rather as conquerors.

You are right about the fact that if this guy was a republican, it would be all you would hear from the MSM - CNN to NYT. Instead, you get the feeling this is no big deal to them...If Hsu was raising money for Rudy or Fred, the words REPUBLICANS and "FELONIOUS-FUND RAISER" would appear many many times in the first paragraph in print and would be the #1 story on every cable news outlet (even FOX, I'd guess) for weeks and weeks...
