-RetweetConfirmed: Air America Loon Fell Down in Front of Irish Pub

Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 4:37:14 pm PDT

Randi Rhodes made a statement today about her self-inflicted head wound; faith and begorrah, she was in an Irish pub.

Audio at BoreAmerica: Randi Rhodes statement on ‘mugging’/falling down incident.

On her radio show today, Air America Radio’s Randi Rhodes spoke about her supposed mugging. She said she was watching football in an Irish pub and went outside for a smoke. The next thing she knew she was on the ground, having fallen or been pushed into a metal grate. She also said she hadn’t eaten all day, and she’s been to a series of doctors and dentists to fix her injuries and they’ve also been unable to determine a medical reason for the incident. She also says she sent a two sentence email to AAR’s management telling them that she had been mugged; when right-wingers were blamed for the incident she decided not to speak out because she had doctor’s appointments.

Have to love how she's leaving it vague enough so the Kooks can claim she was beaten. Thus also leaving it vague enough so she can later say "I never said *that*" when asked for evidence.

Perhaps she was trying to do the Captain Morgan pose and tripped...

...yeah, that's the ticket...

Being attacked by evil rightwingers trying to stop your free speech and your voice of truth is so much more romantic than falling down drunk in a pool of your own vomit.

"unable to determine a medical reason for the incident" - in medical terms, that means either that she had sobered up before she went to the doctor/dentist or that they simply did not do a blood alcohol.

She also says she sent a two sentence email to AAR’s management telling them that she had been mugged;

If I did that with my boss, I'd probably be warned against lying to the boss - if not fired for lying to the boss.

I'm guessing she'll get promoted...

What a creative rating ploy by the geniuses in Err America. They may reach double digits with this; that's total listeners, not market share.

I think everyone's making too much of this. If she was so drunk that she fell down and injured herself, she has a problem and we should be sympathetic to her. If she was mugged by a criminal, a crime against your merits no less contempt from us as any other attack against a woman. Finally, if she indeed was attacked by somebody for political reasons, I would be the first to denounce it. We can have the politics of the gutter or we can have the open and vigorous public discourse, that makes this nation great.

I don't have to like Randi Rhodes her politics or anything about her to feel this way. We need only to look at the chaos and anarchy in Lebanon to understand what our nation's fate would be if we succumb to evil politics.

I'm proud of the fact that in my America, Ted Kaczynski, and Eric Rudolph are both safely housed in a triple max prison- exactly where they belong.

118 Live4Truth  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 4:57:57pm
She said she was watching football in an Irish pub and went outside for a smoke. The next thing she knew she was on the ground, having fallen or been pushed into a metal grate.

Two things stand out there:

1. If she doesn't know if she fell or was pushed, then doesn't that say something? I mean, for anyone who isn't sloshed, it's pretty obvious when you've been pushed, especially if it's strong enough to send you to the ground. And so, if she doesn't know if she was pushed, then why even mention it?

2. She smokes?! Isn't that a cardinal sin among liberals? Doesn't that make her evil? Just think of the second-hand smoke that she caused others to inhale (you know, like someone who may have been driving down the road and had his window open, and the wind was blowing in that direction, and...).

What she does in her personal life as far as drinking is her own business. No one wants to see a woman hurt, that's not what this is about. what it IS about is the spreading of false tales designed to blame conservatives and suggest that they assaulted her to silence her point of view. It did not happen, and she did nothing to stop the rumors that it had. Violence was suggested on the left as a response.

She lied to get attention and people could have gotten hurt.

175 Ajax  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 5:19:38pm

2 points to consider.

First, Randi didn't accuse right-wingers of mugging her, it was these accusations, made by a fellow Air America DJ, that caused her lie to unravel.

Second, many of Rhodes' ilk would merely continue repeating the lie despite contradictory facts being disseminated (Dan Rather), and their allies would be happy to go along rather than allow the right-wingers to get one up on them. So, small moral victory for Randi there.

176 Blazer in RIC  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 5:19:48pm

Technically, the Taliban appear to have actually started out on the own, but they were soon co-opted by the ISI and effectively became their proxy force (see Spring-Autumn 1994). Benazir Bhutto, prime minister of Pakistan at the time, will later recall how ISI support grew in late 1994 and into early 1995. “I became slowly, slowly sucked into it... Once I gave the go-ahead that they should get money, I don’t know how much money they were ultimately given... I know it was a lot. It was just carte blanche.” Bhutto was actually at odds with her own ISI agency and will later claim she eventually discovered the ISI was giving them much more assistance than she authorized, including Pakistani military officers to lead them in fighting.

She went outside to smoke, too drunk to defend herself.

Anti-smoking liberal freaks knocked her over for laughs.

Mardukhai,

She would deserve a pass, if:

1. She hadn't told Air America she'd been mugged (there was zero evidence she'd been mugged, and she obviously was drunk out of her mind).
2. She had immediately corrected the "right wingers did it" story when she heard it. She obviously had enough state of mind at that point to do it (she was talking with her ex on the phone at the time) but she chose not to.
3. The story was already leaking out that she was at the bar and was drinking (a lot) and so this wasn't much of a mea culpa.
4. She's still trying to spin it. "I don't know if I was pushed," when she has no reason to think she was pushed, is playing with words. The most reasonable explanation at this point is that she was drunk and fell down, end of story.

Shame on Randi Rhodes for allowing this to happen. She lied in an attempt to cover her ass. That lie was spun out by her liberal-minded cohorts. A liberal mind is very, very slippery. Morals are incompatible with a liberal thinker because morals, by definition, are conservative {more restrictive}. So a lie is not a lie, it becomes a weapon. I fear that the liberals will continue lying, deceiving, and leading others astray for a long time. This is an especially shameful example of the left-wings inability to grasp simple facts and present them in an honest way.

All publicity is good publicity for media lifeforms. Randi will be better known from now on than ever before. However, she still will not be as well known as

1. Randy Rhoads the deceased heavy metal guitarist, who is still more entertaining than Err America Randi even though he's assumed room temperature.

or

2. Dusty Rhodes the retired wrestler, who was an exceptionally good storyteller and so is still more fun than Randi even though he's retired.

No, Randi will still be well behind those two in name recognition. Her best hope is, as a poster yesterday suggested, if the Ketel One Bloody Mary were to become popularly known as a Randi Rhodes.

14 drinks on an empty stomach? And she's still alive? That really is coma territory. It couldn't have been 14.

She must have a pretty high tolerance for alcohol, which suggests that she's an alcoholic. Someone else might've gotten alcohol poisoning from downing that much booze that quickly.

236 GreenDroll  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 6:26:46pm

I would be the last person on earth to throw stones at someone for being drunk. I am drunk now. I am usually drunk. I like to be drunk.

If you want to fall down, well, that's your business. I don't go there, I prefer to remain upright. Falling might spill one's drink. If you get hurt, further drinking is postponed. That is bad.

Blaming your problems on others is bad. Blaming your problems on others for political gain is worse. Democrats never are at fault for anything it seems. Dead girl in the car, multiple murder at the Georgetown Starbucks, fishy suicide of your attorney, dead Marylin, a gazillion dead Southeast Asians, Cambodia, Rwanda, my property taxes, etc... You get my point.

I guess that is the defining issue with the left. Someone else is responsible (even though I did it).

Haven't we've heard this sort of story before as told by millions of errant spouses? Or maybe Randi should spend more time in Las Vegas, where everything theoretically stays there, except for O.J.'s shenanigans.
Liars are just what they are. Once they step out, why should anyone ever trust them again? Sounds like Randi's credibility is shot. There is a serious need for apple pickers in West VA. Maybe she is qualified. A job Americans don't want to do.

I understand better now.

And I think her appearance probably more nearly parallels her personality now.

246 Perplexed  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 6:49:08pm

Randi, I weigh in at a little over 110Kg. I've discovered that having even one drink on an empty stomach isn't a good idea. You don't appear to weigh in at much over 60Kg. Suggest that you forgo drinking on an empty stomach lest you fall down again.

On second thought, keep on drinking on an empty stomach. A drunk, falling down liberal, fits the stereotype many conservatives have of liberals. Here's to public drunkenness on the part of liberals. May your time in the ER be as unpleasant to you as your radio program is to conservatives.

247 David IV of Georgia  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 6:56:04pm

If she drank that much booze, she probably needed to see the doctor for more than just a broken face. I'm willing to ignore everything she said or did for 24 hours after that much liquor, however:

That does not excuse her from being so stupid as to drink that much. College students drink like that because they are dumb and inexperienced. Adults in responsible positions should know better. Also, there is the issue of In vino veritas. Even if she was still raging drunk when she claimed to be mugged, she sure found it easy to make up a preposterous lie to try to cover her indiscretion. Now where did my Johnny Walker go?

The Left cannot conceive the concept of Honor. Let her stand up on her hind legs and admit she got falling-down drunk and fell-down. She also says she sent a two sentence email to AAR’s management telling them that she had been mugged; when right-wingers were blamed for the incident she decided not to speak out because she had doctor’s appointments.

"telling them that she had been mugged" [ a lie of commission].

"when right-wingers were blamed for the incident she decided not to speak out" [ a lie of omission].

Randi Rhodes can find a good ideological home in the left wing, because lying is their modus operandi. They will not think any the worse of her for lying, because that's what they do. What's a little lie like that compared to the whopper that the troofers tell?

264 looking closely  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 7:51:57pm

Yes, she probably fell down drunk. I said so much in the first thread on this (ie that drugs or alcohol were likely involved).

But no, we don't know for sure that she had 14 bloody marys, how much alcohol was (or wasn't) in each drink, whether or not it was on an "empty stomach", or over what time period.

The number came from another blog poster, allegedly an eyewitness, sho alleged it. But how would he know what she was drinking?

If he was watching her and counting her drinks, that's pretty damn creepy. If he was the one serving the drinks, that was pretty irreponsible. So the 14 Bloody Marys have to be taken with a grain of salt (and an extra dash of tobasco).

Rhodes lied, not to get attention, but rather to avoid it (and for obvious reasons).

I don't think she was the one who made up the "Conservative attack" angle. Wasn't that one of her editors/colleagues? If he hadn't have done that, she probably would have gotten away with the mugging lie.

Walking back the cat, right into the bar, where the bartender was sober; you'll learn Randi Rhodes had 13 Bloody Mary's. Oh, and she got loud. And, abusive.

She was probably so drunk she couldn't stand straight.

And, besides her "two line e-mail" to her boss; where she talks of not having eaten all day. She "only assumed" someone ran into her from the back.

You think there are lots of bums in front of an Irish Bar?

I think bums would have a pretty poor shot at being a "regular" in front of such a place.

Randi would be lying through her teeth. But she hasn't got them, anymore. And, she was so drunk she went down without even getting her hands up, to protect her face.

Okay. IN the news; Rush's letter from Reid brings him more audience.

Here? An Air America dudette gets laughed at.

It's not just the same publicity generating machinery.

She says she had appointments with 3 doctors. Was one of them her psychiatrist?

278 Carol Herman  Thu, Oct 18, 2007 9:05:37pm

Even if you go to a bar, alone, in New York City, you're usually gonna see other people.

As I said, the bartender said she was abusive.

Seems no one went outside and called an ambulance for her. How odd.

When she "came to" ... her drunken fog lifted enough for her to get home?

Wow. A bar with people. Missing the typical stories that come when you have an accident, right outside.

Irish Bar. By definition a place with people who aren't shy.

what's missing from this story?

Ah. That's how Randi found out the "brownshirts" didn't fly.

Maybe, she got confused by the color of her underwear? When she got sober enough to undress.

An open letter to the group of small angry gnomes operating the Randi Rhodes-shaped chassis:

1) You blacked out because you are an alcoholic.

2) You didn't refute the story and instead went to several cosmetic doctors appointments initially because, like most liberals, you don't care about what is right so much as what you find personally comfortable.

3) You obviously fail to appreciate the fact that you are so completely irrelevent in the grand scheme of things that you getting drunk by yourself and falling down in public actually gets you higher ratings than whatever radio show you filter through your hoarse, whiskey-and-time ravaged esophagus.

4) You truly have a face for radio.

Bushmill's Derangement Syndrom: a Leftist drinks, falls down, and immediately blames the Right for it, because, you see, it just can't possibly be their own fault. No way they could possibly have had too much to drink - of course not.

Exactly. And blames everyone except herself.

She ends her 'explanation' saying "I don't know" and "I don't believe it." We don't believe it either.

People who are mugged usually have something stolen from them.

People who are in bars, drinking and not eating, are usually inebriated.

People who are in bars being abusive, drinking, not eating, becoming inebriated and not remembering things are usually in a blackout.

Another lost opportunity Ms. Rhodes - to admit your problem and get some help.

Well crap! At least you think she'd be creative enough to claim the bartender was a republican! Serving her Bushmills!

When she fell down, did she break her hair? Gee, if this was Ann Coultor, I wonder what Randi and the rest of her colleauges would be saying about it.
In other words, let the cheap shots begin!

All I can say about the "Anti Ann Coulter" is that I argree with:

#7 Salem

She was attacked by Republican Pink Elephants!

Along with being attacked, these Pink Elephants were instructed by our man, Hitler to give some "Cowboy Diplomacy" to poor Randi (Boo Hoo!) when she went to the pub. Hilde-beast would probably argee with that along with any other democrat presidential candidate.

I go outside, have a smoke, and fall down all the time. It's hard to catch that Jamison Party Bus!

re: #25 galloping granny

I seem to recall an accident a few years ago where a guy drove off a bridge and left his passenger to drown while he went home to ... get his sore neck taken care of. Yea, that's it!
