Media Army Discovers Spitzer Hooker's Name

Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 7:26:37 pm PDT

The New York Times should be congratulated for diving to the bottom faster than any other news outlet. Kudos, Bill Keller.

Imagine if they spent one tenth as much energy and money investigating the Saudi influence on American mosques, or the Council on American Islamic Relations’ connections to Hamas: Ashley Alexandra Dupre - Woman at the Center of Eliot Spitzer’s Downfall.

UPDATE at 3/12/08 8:19:42 pm:

The New York Times got the scoop, but all the other mainstream media outlets won’t be willing to let all their “research” go to waste, so we’ll now be treated to a flood of articles about hookers and johns: Sex-Trade Clients Speak.

Down with the Media!

They're withholding details about this, ignoring it so it'll go away!

They're... oh...

Diving to the bottom of an unworthy story!

Down with the Media!

5 Fat Bastard Vegetarian  Wed, Mar 12, 2008 7:31:13pm

Actually, I am saddened for her family that this is public. My sister was an exotic dancer, when my parents found out (on national television) ...it just crushed them. There is a distinct possibility that her family has no idea what she does for a living.

Spitzer is really creating some collateral damage with this.

6 Karridine  Wed, Mar 12, 2008 7:31:20pm

I'm sorry to hear that. But I think I made a legitimate point, there: If the New York Times -- who broke this story -- weren't dogging it, I suspect folks would say they were ignoring it in the midst of, say, Obama's rise to the throne.

If that means I need really do need to "shut up," then say so. I'll head out with kind regards. But I do think it's not a frivolous point.

Anyone who had a notion that she would write a best seller and make a boatload better think again.

24 lawhawk  Wed, Mar 12, 2008 7:37:02pm

Well, she's probably going to come out of all this smelling like a rose - book deals, music deal, and probably a Playboy spread.

The Times uncharacteristically took the lead on this story. I'm frankly surprised at that.

What this says is that when the Times wants to get to the bottom of a story, it knows how to completely surround and beat it to a bloody pulp. With great power comes great responsibility - all too often they use those investigative chops to leak national secrets or reveal classified information. How about spending more time investigating the enemies of the nation and corruption within our country. You'd be surprised what you could dig up going through the State Assembly (heck, there are a couple facing DUI and other assorted corruption charges from just the past month, let alone the past year). NJ is even worse. That's right in your backyard. Have at 'em.

All this violent reaction to good ol gun grabbing NY governor.

DEMOCRAT Governor.

Imagine if he were a Republican.

Congress would already be holding their mock impeachment hearings.

Can we on the right speak the phrase "Culture of Corruption" ? Or is that reserved for Democrats talking about Republicans?

This morning I heard something about his 'people' are working with the "Justice" department trying to get a plea deal of some sort that involves no jail time and done in such a way that he doesn't lose his ability to be a lawyer.

I mean.... he only paid for prostitutes to come across state lines in order to diddle them, then tried to get his bank to help him cover it up. It isn't like he did anything wrong...

*smirk*

All of the information I've seen makes me think that he, like all of the rest of the lawyer-turned-politicians (generally read: scum), is only sorry that he was caught.

His poor wife. Finds out that her husband is diddling hookers on an interstate deal.... then forced to stand up there with him to show 'solidarity' . . .

The NY Times scooped the NY Sun out of the break. The Sun had already reported earlier in the week that the feds were working on a major prostitution ring bust. The Times picked up from there. It was only a matter of time before a media outlet found out who - and let's be assured that Spitzer isn't the only one who will get outed as clients.

There are others
- after all, he was client number 9. That means there were at least 8 others (hey, I wasn't a math major, but will be staying in a Holiday Inn Express).

The Times is in a position to break news and set tone for coverage. They've decided to go full bore here. It would be nice if they took that kind of coverage and directed it in the direction of CAIR and MAS, among others - or the Holy Land Foundation. That was the thrust of Charles' comment.

Not a small number of posters have commented on "Kristin's" looks and not been impressed. That's not the issue. What is being bought is a fantasy, and the more elaborate the fantasy, and the more convincingly she pulls it off, the more money it's worth -- indeed the cost is part of the panache -- if you're paying that much, then you must be getting something really special. It's sort of a form of personal theater, but one where the level of reality of one aspect of the performance effectively masks the unreality of the whole situation.

In Woody Allen's story "The Whore of Mensa" he describes a fictional call girl racket for people who want intelligent conversation. But they weren't just selling intellectual experiences ...

They were peddling emotional ones, too. For fifty bucks, I learned, you could "relate without getting close." For a hundred, a girl would lend you her Bartok records, have dinner, and then let you watch while she had an anxiety attack. For one-fifty, you could listen to FM radio with twins. For three bills, you got the works: A thin Jewish brunette would pretend to pick you up at the Museum of Modern Art, let you read her master's, get you involved in a screaming quarrel at Elaine's over Freud's conception of women, and then fake a suicide of your choosing - the perfect evening, for some guys. Nice racket. Great town, New York.

The good satirist that he is, Mr. Koenigsberger hits the nail on the head -- at that level it's not the sex -- it's the fantasy, the emotional experience that is what commands the high price.

Sex?

As I said above, fantasy.

It also drives America foreign policy and a good deal of the presidential selection process apparently.

The Times is in a position to break news and set tone for coverage. They've decided to go full bore here. It would be nice if they took that kind of coverage and directed it in the direction of CAIR and MAS, among others - or the Holy Land Foundation.

Exactly, exactly, exactly.

Once you start to believe the yes-men, you're damned.

It looks more like the latter every day.

If Obama wins the election and starts some major appeasement projects, then all hell will break loose. Or maybe not. We may have been so completely infiltrated by those who would see our nation fall that nothing can save us.

Indeed, although ultimately the power ends up being part of the fantasy. In reality he has no power over her -- she's playing a part and cares nothing for him except as a source of cash. The knowledge of that would, for someone like him, ruin the buzz.

It's only fulfilling to treat people like objects if they are actually people and they care what you're doing.

I doubt this bimbo was working an 8 hour day. And we don't know how much her pimps were taking from that. Rent in Manhattan is NOT cheap.

According to this article on the MSN site, where they interviewed another "high priced call girl":

Q: How much does the service make?

A: The booker — whoever organizes the appointments, which is either over the telephone or the Internet — makes 10 percent off the top, then it’s split 50-50 between the girl and the agency.

According to my math, that works out to $450 per hour net.

Most of the guys in the Wednesday morning "Geezers and Wheezers Motorcycle Club" were of an opinion that for that kind of money the young lady's talents would have to include kissing the chrome off the ball of a trailer hitch and suck starting a Harley. Cognito, since you represent the opposite view here, let me tell you what i would like.

I have been researching this furiously over the last couple of days since it broke, specifically because of the front group angle.

Not to sound indifferent, but my hunch tells me Mr. Spitzer was probably not paying the kind of scratch he was laying down for a Bette Midler wannabe.

Stoke my intellect.

How about going after the the story behind the front group, laundering money internationally, with the angle of a legal eagle who claims to be a steamroller.

What I really think, is we could really have a story here about old eastern bloc girls being sold into sex slavery, some slimy political cronies with previous presidential pardons, and a current democratic candidate who has rubbed elbows with a couple of folks at the center of it, in her bid for the initial senate seat.

Please, dig, dig, dig!

In clubs that have alcohol and allow people under 21 in (generally hot ladies), they put an X on their hand so that they don't serve them alcohol.

The reason why some people were having the ampersand problem and others weren't: it had to do with loading the full page versus using the 'new comments' button. There was a small difference in the way those two operations were being processed - now they're synced up again.

If it is like the other X's on people's hands in clubs, it would be to signify that at the time the picture was taken, they were not yet 21.

In clubs that have alcohol and allow people under 21 in (generally hot ladies), they put an X on their hand so that they don't serve them alcohol.

Or it could have just been proof that she paid the door charge to get in.

Funeral Picketing Law Struck Down

The Kansas Supreme Court effectively ended a law banning picketing at funerals, ruling Tuesday that it was unconstitutional for legislators to require a court to uphold the law before it could be enforced.

That "judicial trigger" was intended to prevent the Westboro Baptist Church from collecting damages from the state after a successful appeal of the law.

The law was passed in response to the sect's picketing of military funerals; the Rev. Fred Phelps and his followers claim U.S. combat deaths are God's punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

Ruling on a law before it can be enforced usurps power from the Legislature, Justice Marla J. Luckert wrote in the unanimous ruling.

"Courts do not have jurisdiction over purely hypothetical questions associated with nonexistent issues," she wrote.

The court did not address the merits of the 2007 law, which bars protesters from being within 150 feet of a funeral one hour before, during or two hours after a service ends. It also makes it unlawful to obstruct any public street or sidewalk.

The law also allows families to sue if they feel protesters defamed the dead. That single provision survives after the court's ruling.

This Spitzer girl is like the Donald Trump of whores...I have no pity or sympathy for her at all. She's probably a very intelligent girl to have attained this rarified lifestyle hob-nobbing with the rich and famous. Anyway, what's the difference between hiring a high-class hooker or having some old foggy buying a young 22-old a 15,000 mink coat or necklace or wining and dining them on a weekend trip to Paris, Monoco, etc. Same difference. But one is called a whore and the other a girlfriend. Who gives a flying f***ck. This story wouldn't even get press in France.

probably not for quite some time - at least way past the point anyone will care anymore e.g., "well, truth be known, he (Spitz-her) went after my uncle, my favorite uncle as a matter of fact - ok, he was a little shady but hey, he was my uncle and if you mess with my family...". If the motivation turns out to be nothing like this scenario I still say there is a reason other than the pursuit of the truth no matter where the chips may fall.

Yeah, come to think of it. I have seen tattoos quite similar to that mark.

After popping the photo into a Word document and zooming in to 500%, which is about all I have to work with, I could notice that the rightward ends of the strokes seemed to have - for lack of a better descriptor - a "knob" to them. Even allowing for some "bleed" from a Sharpie®, a bouncer is unlikely to put forth the effort if the club is jumping.

Is that hand visible in any other photos?

Much as I enjoy bashing the dastardly denizens of the media-industrial complex, I do think this is a legitimate story, salacious content notwithstanding.

It is useful to know what kind of underworld can ensnare the rich and powerful, how exactly it works, and who the players are.

Spitzer could easily have been blackmailed by hoodlums or jihadis. We have to wonder just how many movers and shakers have fallen victim to that kind of trap and what effect, if any, this has on policy.

Rich oil ticks are notoriously fond of high-priced escorts. Since they do this more or less openly, they are immune to blackmail themselves but it would furnish them with a range of contacts who could be exploited for something besides sex.

There may be more here than meets the eye.

re: #225 Capitalist Tool

And more along the line of judicial insanities...
The Oklahoma Supremes just struck down the conviction of a man who was caught doing "upskirt" photography of a teenage girl. The Court said that "Oh well, it really isn't against any law that we know of...

Actually they said, "The current law requires an expectation of privacy. When pics are taken in public, even if offensive in nature, there does not exist the required privacy expectation." There was one dissent who wrote that wearing clothing met the expectation of privacy further stating that an attempt to defeat that covering should be illegal.

I can see both sides. The best fix however is to pass a new law specifically addressing the perverted "upskirt" photo issue. A visit to the "photographer" by large men with thick oaken sticks would be just fine with me too.

She's no homewrecker. A homewrecker is a busybody little tramp who goes about inveigling herself into some married man's life, using sex to siphon money and adventure from a man who can't complain because he is compromised. And even then, the man is still the idiot who wrecked his own home, really. This dumb girl is no monster--just a dumb girl with no moral compass, no sense of self-worth, and a willingness to break the law. The folks who organize (ahem!) these "Emperor Club" deals are the monsters. I read the application for a search warrant (based on wiretaps), and at one point, the organizers complained about how so many of their girls wind up ruining themselves on drugs. That's monstrous.

One of the (original) purposes of the women's movement was to expand opportunities for women to earn a decent living --without having to enter a marriage of convenience or turn to prostitution.

There are very sad cases (that aren't forced prostitution) in which women feel they have no other choice. Yet in today's world there is no reason for a young woman to have to choose prostitution.

The idea that this young woman thought it was perfectly ok to earn her living this way is beyond me. I can't just blame her family situation.

It's one of those, "So what" things for me. I never got a reliable outing report about him so I don't care to speculate.

Hoover's biographer Richard Hack[27] reports that Hoover was romantically linked to actress Dorothy Lamour in the late '30s and early '40s, and that after Hoover's death, Lamour did not deny rumors that she'd had an affair with Hoover in the years between her two marriages. Hack additionally reports that during the '40s and '50s, Hoover so often attended social events with Lela Rogers, the divorced mother of dancer and actress Ginger Rogers, that many of their mutual friends assumed the pair would eventually marry.

Yep, Coulter mentioned this in her column today:

Surprising no one – police wiretaps indicate that the "models" were semi-literate – could not learn to swipe a credit card and seemed invariably to be on drugs. That's what you get for $2,000 an hour in this charming business.

After one prostitute missed an appointment and left a "crazy" text message for one of her pimps, the procurer remarks that the girl is on drugs. It seems, the procurer adds, "a lot of these girls deteriorate to this point."

I happen to know a very successful SF writer who had been a high-priced call-girl in her younger days. She doesn't advertise it, but it is not a secret either. She was at the top, $200 an hour in the early 70s. Her "agent" kept half but it was still a lot of money. Most of it went for ways to help her forget what she was doing to earn it; not drugs, but riviera vacations, fast cars, designer clothes and the like.

According to her, it is definitely not a victimless crime but the temptation to rationalize can be irresistible.

I've seen all kinds of tattoos working with 'alleged' criminals. We have a guy detained right now that has a rather large 666 tattooed across his forehead.

A rather interesting one I saw, and was obviously done by an accomplished artist, was on the arm that appeared to have the flesh torn back and revealed the muscles, tendons, bone and vessels in amazing color and definition.

My brother has a large dragon wrapped around his shoulder. It scared my little kids for a long time. And he has a skull - nice.

re: #359 Shiplord Kirel

I happen to know a very successful SF writer who had been a high-priced call-girl in her younger days. She doesn't advertise it, but it is not a secret either. She was at the top, $200 an hour in the early 70s. Her "agent" kept half but it was still a lot of money. Most of it went for ways to help her forget what she was doing to earn it; not drugs, but riviera vacations, fast cars, designer clothes and the like.

According to her, it is definitely not a victimless crime but the temptation to rationalize can be irresistible.

How many of the 400 sexual viruses did she spread around town - you know the ones condoms can't stop?

CHARLES - don't know how you can same the MSM is "diving to the bottom" when they've been bottom feeders for at least 20 years or so now!
If there were any REAL journalists around, they would be considerably less interested in what this one call girl looked like, than the ramifications of the former Attorney General of the State of New York being involved with one prostitution ring, while directing his office to go after other prostitution rings; with his apparently knowingly money laundering; and whether or not he's been the subject of any blackmail attempts (I can almost guarantee that once this ring knew that they had the NY AG, much less the Governor of New York, that they had photos or videos of his involvement to protect themselves and advance their business interests).

And syphillis and clap were easily treatable with one or two shots of antibiotics.

I've known this family since I was 6 and met most of the extended. They are all dear to my heart. My friends mother Pat, who is the closest thing to an angel on earth, just moved back there with her husband Bob - both are 80+. If their lives are indicative of Oklahomans then the state is blessed.

What kind of place is Oklahoma? When the OKC bombing happened. They had to evacuate a nearby bank in a hurry. Hours, possibly days later when the bank staff was allowed to go back in. Not a penny was missing. Additionally, the rescue workers had to turn away donations of all kinds. During the first WTC bombing, NYC people were selling bottled water to the firemen. They did much better on 9-11.

What kind of place is Oklahoma? One morning I was listening to a Tulsa A.M. talk radio program. The host was interviewing a local individual who was seriously ill in need of a somewhat common but still "experimental" surgery that insurance would not pay. The discussion ran along the lines of upcoming fund raisers that friends, church etc. had scheduled. Two callers later some unknown woman who wouldn't let her name be given on the radio said she'd pay the bill. She did.

re: #400 lancekates Yeah I know about the field - used to do CMBS financing for a while (I did the "real estate part") and our firm used PZR exclusively because the Partner in charge thought they were the greatest thing since canned beer. I thought they did good work on a pretty timely basis, but had some problems with one or two of them.
As an example, our client was proposing to loan money to an owner of an office complex that included a car rental office. PZR almost cost us the deal cause the guy there said if they're renting cars out of that office, there isn't enough parking or some such bs. SO I suggested to him that he call the car rental agency at the phone number for the subject property and ask them for directions on how to get there to pick up his car. They told him "Oh this is just an administrative office - to actually rent a car call xxxxxxxxxxx." Problem solved.
I was just ticked that I had to suggest doing that to him.
I'm glad you're with someone else now, so I can tell you that story!

well, in PZR's defense, the report writers get 0 information far too often.

The best we'd get is a 'rent roll' which likely showed the tenant name and an email to the client confirmed the use as 'car rental' . . .

For some reason, there was always a big push to just go and find information on your own, as though asking the clients for information about their property in question was, somehow, a bad thing.

I've always been a fan of 'going to the source' to get information.

You get more complete answers that way.

re: #416 lancekatesYeah, I know that. As the lender's lawyer I got too little information, too. The real problem was the timing of these transactions.
I'd get a call on a Monday that we were doing a $70,000,000 loan that HAD to close the coming Friday -which meant I had to sign off on an opinion letter that everything was hunky-dory - not just with zoning, but with title, the form of the business organization that owned the property (which almost ALWAYS had to be changed and title conveyed to the new entity before the money was wired), had to read and approve the survey, had to "negotiate" the loan docs and get a Hard Copy of the "final" docs out on Wednesday so I could have the signed loan docs in MY hands on Friday so I could have the lender wire transfer the money on Friday. The zoning was an important part of it, and in their defense, PZR KNEW the time pressure and usually reacted immediately if not sooner!
FWIW, I always thought it was stupid to rush big loans (or any loan, for that matter) but the reason was that the loan officer's BONUS was based on how much money he had lent EACH QUARTER. And most of the ones I worked with averaged over a million bucks a year - at age 30-35 - in bonuses.

re: #191 buzzsawmonkey

As I said in an earlier thread, I have known people who have worked in the banging for bucks trade.

They are, mostly, very engaging on the surface; if they are successful, i.e., making a living, they have cultivated sufficient charm and professional manner to reassure the potential client.

That engagement goes about 1/8 of an inch deep. Beneath it, they are remote, armored, even hostile, and not to be trusted. They view people not "in the life" as potential marks or johns. They are damaged to the point of being psychopaths--not surprisingly, when you consider that their stock in trade is submitting to intimacy with whoever flashes the requisite cash, and that they must be constantly on guard against physical danger as well as the less-obvious dangers of disease.

"Kristen" appears to be physically attractive, and to have mastered the necessary surface engagement to a high degree. That does not mean she is not at least as dead inside as the politician who willingly paid for her services.

I think you describe some of the dangers of hooking accurately.

Yes there are people like this who work as prostitutes, car salesmen, and on Wall Street. There is nothing inherently wrong with "HOOKING". It is a currently illegal vice that because of the illegality attracts unsavory elements. Lawyers and politicians seem more dead to me on the inside than a prostitute. In General.

The sexual act is an initmate one even though sexual workers advocate that they have the appropiate boundaries. It's a free world. Drugs make people very hard. Dealing with money and not being shrewd makes people also have the symptoms you describe. Being shrewd doesn't guarantee immunity to vice. Intimate acts for money can confuse the act both ways for most people. Money introduces power and control that override the more divine aspects of what physical love represents. So maybe yes in the broad scheme of things it would be best that there were no prostitutes. But that wouldn't be my first choice of a class of people to restrict.

I have also known sexual workers who are very religous and others who achieve the separation they need in order to make money. It's an emotionally grinding industry that has a defacto legality.

We should look at the over and over examples of what is occuring here. People constantly saying I know it is illegal and I disapprove of it. But I want to do it anyway. The act in itself is harmless. It's the OOOOH factor of all the trappings around it that divide the people up into classes. And the shared sex partner aspect, which I think nature rolls the dice against.

An empty thing?

I find sex industry workers to be on the forefront of gauging and transacting marketing forces under trying conditions.

I would always be worried about when you have sex with a sex worker you also have sex with everyone that they have had unprotected sex with before them. As we see here there was a price for that also.

And I think the modern sex diseases communicate that there is inherently something risky and wrong with the group sex we see out there.

As for anyone who is an individual prostitue. Go for it. Make your money.

*** and my opinions here I am sure do not reflect the direction of this blog and members. It's just, I'm fine if they did the deed. Not so fine that Eliot projected a moral judgement on a lot of other people. I see him as having a natural urge that led him to make bad choices. I would expect him to hit a brothel again.

ticked us off too. Especially the report writers. We didn't get anything 'extra' for busting our butt to get a report out in a couple of days, with nothing but some verbal confirmations from a city (if we're lucky)

but we did get alot of butt-chewing until we got it out.

I REALLY hated it because I'm a bit anal retentive and I want any report with my name on it to be correct. If we're rushing through things so some broker can get a bigger bonus now rather than 3 months from now, there are going to be mistakes and they would be my fault, regardless of who's fault they ACTUALLY are.

(The same applies to reports that people 'forgot' to order.... "Wait... you guys need 3 weeks to do a zoning report?" As though it shouldn't take longer to make it than to read it.)

But you're statement that "Not so fine that Eliot projected a moral judgement on a lot of other people." is, I'm afraid, incomplete or just wrong.
When he was Attorney General of the State of New York, he had that office prosecute both prostitute "rings" - individual women and the leaders of those rings -who were frequently women themselves (remember Heidy Fleiss?) he would also prosecute the "Johns." But never with the ring he used. That's not a moral judgment, that's an abuse of his office and of governmental authority.

I have 3 daughters of that general age. No hookers or White House interns in the bunch, but their general level of perception doesn't get much farther than Myspace, texting and shopping.
Probably because of that, the only home wreckers I see, the only ones responsible for the scandals and subsequent turmoil were the sitting governor and then president who after telling their constituents how smart they were and that they would work to toward the betterment of all, proceeded to STUPIDLY feed their own narcissism. It is specious bullshit to imply that a journalistic choice to ignore one vital part of a story (i.e. Spitzer is a Democrat) is somehow excused by the choice to instead aggressively bottom-feed on another sensational aspect of the story (the hooker's identity, images and bio).
The habitual use of intellectually dishonest arguments to advance an agenda is extremely irritating because it shows utter contempt for others and insults their intelligence.

re: #424 lancekates Yup, I hear ya! Course if WE screwed up any of the stuff, not just the zoning, we could face malpractice charges and suits but more often than not our real penalty for "taking too long" was a cut off of the flow of this business (which I have to confess was very lucrative, to say the least!). And if that happened more than once you'd be fired and be an attorney seeking work with a reputation following you around that either you were too slow or too careful or too unmindful of client's needs.
THAT was a kick in the ass, and ruined the careers of a lot of good lawyers I knew who couldn't take the pressure of working 70-80 hours a week, week in and week out.
I got out before I did anything that would get me fired because I honestly felt that I wasn't doing High Quality work and that's always been more important to me than the bucks. Professional respect, much less self-respect, can't be bought.

I agree.

Only a few things last. A Man's Word is one of them.

Easily destroyed, hard to rebuilt.

Quality of work is one measure of a man's word.

re: #428 lancekates Hey Lance, see my #380 - the MSM isn't asking ANY of the right questions here; they are,as Charles said, diving to the bottom. My disagreement with Charles wasn't over the bottom feeding nature of the MSM, but the lack of any real journalism.

IF you would please see my #380, you'll see it's much worse than identifying someone as a Dem or Rep.
Its the complete absence of anything resembling journalistic integrity or interest. SHE isn't the story here - not who she is or what the hell she looks like or any of the rest of it.

re: #442 realwest

we live in a reality television era. crap like that is what drives ratings.... that's why we had the steriod baseball hearings... that's why FOX has a news show that is jokingly referred to as the 'pretty kidnapped girl show' with greta.

that's why people like myself look at humanity and wonder where the originality went.

We had Einstein. Edison. Newton. We learned how to fly. How to split the atom. how to go into space!.....

now we stare at the television.... letting them tell us how to think, who to vote for, what to believe, what is 'hot' . .. . what is important...

While there is nothing new under the sun, I do believe a few things have gone away.

Yes, Paint Your Wagon. I loved it.

Ben Rumson: Now, don't tell me you've never been with a woman.
Horton: No, sir I haven't.
Ben Rumson: Well, that, that's terrible! Did you know you could go blind?

But before I go off for some zzzz's - I didn't catch how
old (young) our hooker de jour was but I'd love to hear her answer to how old she was during the Monica Lewinski scandal and if she was influenced by it in any way - even her thoughts on the story. Sad, but I don't even remember what year(s) that all was !Has it been 10 years yet ? Must be, damn, 9/11 is going on 7 years !
How can this be ? Anyhow, if she can put two sentences together and has any insight...maybe I'm expecting too much. Nite All !

I restricted my comment to the Dem omission because that is what Charles had previously highlighted in prior thread intros. Also, I was specifically responding to the latest example of Cognito's debating technique.

BTW I certainly agree with you that there is probably much more to the story and have commented to this effect on prior threads.

re: #275 Mich-again

I think its really creepy that the prostitute was only a few years older than his daughter and that the prostitute claims that she was a victim of abuse as a child. As for his wife displaying such strange behavior as well that only makes the whole thing creepier.

Let's just assume that most prostitutes have such a history. Let's further speculate that Spitzer himself was abused as a child. Better he hire some prohos, rather than pass it on to his daughters.

How can this be ?

If your ten, a year is a tenth of your life, a good chunk. If your 50, a year is a drop in the bucket.

452 BethesdaDog  Wed, Mar 12, 2008 10:18:36pm

This is all BS. Why in the world is the federal government spending so much money trailing around after this guy and all these hookers when we have so much real fraud in the federal government (I've seen, I work there) and so much crime and other real enemies (jihadists, terrorists, etc.)

The FBI and US attorney's office should be devoting its limited resources going after the real threats, not pathetic Kristen or the hypocritical sanctimonious politician.

re: #452 BethesdaDog With all due respect, as I read the story, the FBI "stumbled" upon this story as Spitzer was doing some illegal money laundering and once they had the story what were they supposed to do with it?
If you'll kindly read my post in #380 above, you'll see that I at least think that there is more going on here than just a guy going to an expensive hooker.
Or make that, that there may be more going on here.

re: #330 haakondahl

I agree, that she will probably complete her whoredom by selling what's left to the media. But that's a monster of a different color.

Oh yes! Whores are very much home-wreckers. They are the other participant in the ADULTERY that is being committed!

I respectfully disagree. Mistresses with whom men have relationships that drag them (lure them, whatever)from the family are closer to "homewreckers" than a relatively anonymous prostitute. If fact, the anonymity may have allowed Spitzer to stay in a marriage longer than he would have had he found someone with whom to share more than the occasional hour or two of sex.

As for the real homewrecker, look no farther than the adulterous spouse. I don't see why women are so fast to blame the "other woman". Men have choices despite Dershewitz' nonsense about "thinking with a different organ". And everything I said goes for cheating women as well.

Any home that a hooker can wreck was already wrecked. Adultery isn't the ruinous part. Infidelity is, which rests solely upon the person breaching his own commitment.

The article by "Ruth Henderson", linked through Hot Air, is a must-read. If it's as truthful as it is cynical and salacious, the liberal left will have a lot of damage-control to do restoring the "man is basically good" myth.

the new york times and the tv media has found release

now they dont have to dwell on the sexual violation and torture and shooting murder of two beautiful young college white girls who were minding their own business in their own different safe towns when they were attacked by two and one young violent black men and abducted and murdered.

Where is al sharpton and jesse when you need them?

just who got hurt more here? the two college girls or the state of NY?

So , He spent $80,000 on hookers over 10 years .
That's $8,000 per year by my arithmetic .
At , er , Club rates , that's only two 'tricks' .
Methinks the sleazebag spent considerably more each year
than he is claiming he did .
