Geller Still Using Gingrich’s Name in Hate Rally Promos

Wingnuts • Views: 4,011

Pamela Geller’s American branch of the European “Stop Islamization” hate franchise is still falsely advertising Newt Gingrich as a speaker at her anti-Muslim rally on September 11: Stop Islamization of America.

Three days and counting since Gingrich bailed out of Geller’s prejudice party. When will they stop using Gingrich’s name without his permission?

Feeds the theory that Islam and the radical left ( communism, socialists) are natural bedfellows.
That is, until you get into the details.
Then the fine print is a problem.

Depends on how you define bashing.

The only reason atheists seem to be bashing Christians at every opportunity is because NA is primarily Christian, and they hold the balance of power. Atheists are equal opportunity bashers, we bash all religions the same.

However our bashing has nothing to do with removing rights, but in making sure others have the same rights and in some cases this means focusing our bashing on those that are afraid of losing their privileged position.

I have been having an e-mail exchange with someone from Geller’s SIOA blog. (The e-mail is director@jihadwatch.org.) Their argument that the claim that the mosque will be built “at Ground Zero” is that the Burlington Coat Factory building at 45 Park Place was a target of the attacks (just because it was accidentally and randomly hit.) That would be like saying that all those wedding parties we accidentally bombed in Afghanistan and Pakistan were the intended targets. (Same rationale.) I don’t think this argument is over yet.

89 What, me worry?  Sun, Aug 22, 2010 11:32:28am

re: #62 Cato the Elder

Right in front of the Amish Market - “War Is Coming (If You Want It)”.

Sorry, John Lennon.

Here is an article from the The Forward, “When Shuls Were Banned in America.”By Jonathan D. Sarna
Published August 11, 2010, issue of August 20, 2010.

When New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg stood on Governors Island, in sight of the Statue of Liberty, and forcefully defended the right of Muslims to build a community center and mosque two blocks from Ground Zero, he expressly made a point of distancing himself from an earlier leader of the city: Peter Stuyvesant, who understood the relationship between religion and state altogether differently than Bloomberg does.

As governor of what was then called New Amsterdam, from 1647-1664, Stuyvesant worked to enforce Calvinist orthodoxy. He objected to public worship for Lutherans, fought Catholicism and threatened those who harbored Quakers with fines and imprisonment. One might easily imagine how he would have treated Muslims.

It pains me a great deal to see Jews opposing the mosque. Maybe they’re ignorant of our own history or have simply forgotten it because life is now good for Jews in America, but certainly it hasn’t always been.

For me, there’s no choice but to support the Center because we can’t allow public opinion to interfere with our constitutional rights as citizens.

Their argument that the claim that the mosque will be built “at Ground Zero” is that the Burlington Coat Factory building at 45 Park Place was a target of the attacks (just because it was accidentally and randomly hit.) That would be like saying that all those wedding parties we accidentally bombed in Afghanistan and Pakistan were the intended targets. (Same rationale.) I don’t think this argument is over yet.

Unless Robert Spencer is having a intern or someone else answer his email, you’re conversing with Spencer himself.

Make a email folder and save all those emails. You’ll have fun with them later.

Yeah. I’ve seen a few. Having been here for almost 2 years I’ve seen the dogma come from both sides. I don’t think it’s productive to fall into the trap that Racer-X had set with his sweeping generalization because there’s a split amongst atheists as to Park51. Apparently they’re continuing to report on the spreading misinformation:

“We are in such a highly polarized political environment. Our country is sorting itself into more closely knit, opposing factions each year” — factions, DiFonzo suggests, that in turn become “echo chambers” for factoids that aren’t fact at all.

Nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they think Obama is Muslim, up from the 11 percent who said so in March 2009, according to a poll released Thursday. The proportion who correctly say he is a Christian is just 34 percent, down from 48 percent in March of last year.

I heard a lot from Republicans about empathy towards the Iraqis. Oppressed people living under a dictatorship. The Republicans support the Cuban people, too, against tyranny. The closest I can think of any atheist wanting rights taken away from the religious is people who think that churches et al. don’t deserve to be tax-free. I’d disagree with that, but I would say that churches should be a hell of a lot more apolitical than they have been over the past decade.

How about the father who was an atheist and did not want his daughter to say the pledge of allegiance?

She was a minor at the time and the media was pretty much silent on the child’s own thoughts. Her mother didn’t much care for it.

Problem with that is the very people that can determine whether or not they can remain tax free ARE politicians.
Lets say a pol was running on a platform TO tax church properties/ assets to help with the local tax base. Would you not expect the church itself to mount a counter-defense?

Didn’t he want a separation of church and state?

How is that attacking Christianity? That would be a pretty broad definition wouldn’t it?

The question was for one case were an atheist wanted to take a right from a Christian. The situation came to my mind as “one case.”

If he was trying to remove the right from the entire class - then it would be apt, but withdrawing ones own daughter i think makes it a little bit of a thin ice in supporting the proposition.

No. She still has that right. I think you misunderstood the case.

He wanted teachers to be prohibited from leading the class in that pledge, in public schools.

He didn’t want children to be prevented from saying it.

That wasn’t it, though. He filed suit on behalf of his daughter, but it was a basic separation of religion and state issue; it was because the teacher compelled it.

The court rejected it on the grounds that it wasn’t really compelled. Well, first they said he had no standing, but then when another group was found to have standing, they rejected it.

You said that he wanted children to be prevented from saying the pledge. That’s not at all true.

So, that’s different.

He also filed and lost a lawsuit to stop the invocation prayer at President Bush’s second inauguration[1][2][3] and, most recently, he filed a lawsuit to prevent references to God and religion from being part of President Obama’s inauguration.

Fine, not the gist i got of the earlier discussion, my bad.

Besides the fact that Under God is hideously outmoded Anti-Red device - Americans are not “under god” but under “their creator”.

What is the difference between not wanting teachers leading the class of children in the pledge, and the not wanting the childre to be prevented from saying it. Would the children recite the pledge on their own in school, if that was still the wish of the school district?

If this thread is flowing from my original comment, could someone explain how removing the words ‘under god’ from the pledge is an attack on Christianity rather than an attempt to separate religion and the State.

Seriously? I’m not getting how you’re not understanding this.

If you prevent children from saying it, you’re forbidding saying it. There’s something done to prevent them from saying it.

If you prevent the teachers from leading them in it, that’s all you do. You don’t have teachers leading them in the pledge. If they want to, on their own, say it, they can.

It is pretty identical to school prayer. Praying in school is not forbidden. Teachers leading students in prayer is.

Its the “prayer in schools” thing. Kids can pray - but teachers can’t lead it, same distinction here.

Nothing will stop kids getting their a couple of minutes early for class salute the flag and pledge to beat the Reds “under god” in verse form - while then paying for their lunch with money thats says “under god”.

Fucking idiots.

They look OK to me. Sure, they’re angry, but it’s not like they’re doing effigies or anything.

Sounds to me like you’re more upset by who they are than what they’re saying or doing there. I checked out socialistworker.org, and it basically looks like an anti-Drudge at worst. Mostly updates on various strikes and such.

Fascinating thread, says I, peering southward across the border from frozen Kanuckistan.
A question: How can it be that the odious Pammy Geller who writes (and thinks) like a 15yr. old mall rat with a yeast infection succeed in accumulating so much influence? Her tedious posts have the intellectual rigor and depth of a wiki entry on vampire hygiene and the rhetorical grace of a scatological limerick. Is hers the emerging voice of American conservatism? If so, oh dear.
Be there an American conservative Republican or libertarian reading this comment who might say “NO” and explain to me that she is something of an unfortunate bit of static in the conservative polity?
And what of her sister mall rat, the peculiar Ms. Malkin? But one question is enough.
