Bobby Jindal’s Prayer Rally Explicitly Advocated a Christian Theocracy in America

Media reports on Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s “prayer rally” made it seem completely unremarkable. Just some religious folks praying, that’s all. Good clean fun for the whole Christian family!

But Right Wing Watch supplies us with a video clip that shows the true intention of this religious right crowd — they literally want to control every area of American life, including the government.

Gene Mills, president of Louisiana Family Forum (an official state affiliate of the Family Research Council) spent his entire ten-minute speech at Jindal’s prayer rally this weekend openly preaching Seven Mountains Dominionism from the stage.

Christians have been tasked to take control of “the sphere of influence around civil government,” Mills said, because all areas of culture “belong to God.” Jindal’s prayer rally, Mill’s declared, was a key component of their effort “to reclaim territory that rightfully belongs to God” because “these seven spheres of influence are under enemy occupation right now.”

After revealing that last month, he and other prayer rally organizers knelt in prayer with Jindal “asking God to break unholy alliances” over these areas of society, Mills led the gathering in a similar prayer.

“Father, we cry out for the seven mountains of influence today,” Mills said. “We pray that you will give us government, arts and entertainment, education, the church, and the family. That our ambassadors would occupy the high places. That you would bring us into a place of understanding that they need to be occupied by the body of Christ because it’s rightfully His.”

I think this is why “creeping Shariah” wigs them out so much - it’s simulacrum.

Same reason gay stuff wigs them out — they practice a religion that calls men “the bride of Christ” and requires one day that they marry a man (the “wedding supper of the lamb”) if you read it as literally as they tend to do

Our long-term strategy must be to place the Bible in Public Schools as the principle textbook of American education. “I fear the man of a single book”

17 RealityBasedSteve  Jan 26, 2015 3:42:39pm

Also from RWW…

Let’s start with the invitation, sent on Jindal’s official state letterhead. “We are in need of spiritual and transforming revival,” he wrote, “if we are to recapture the vision of our early leaders who signed on the Mayflower, ‘In the name of God and for the advancement of the Christian faith.’” Leadership to solve the country’s problems “will not come from a politician or a movement for social change,” he wrote in this time civil rights movement anniversaries. So how will we solve our problems? “Jesus Christ, Son of God and the Lord of Life, is America’s only hope.” In a separate letter he wrote to the other 49 governors inviting them to his rally to pray for “spiritual revival” and “heaven’s intervention” over the country. “There will only be one name lifted up that day - Jesus!”

What does all this suggest to non-Christian Americans (including non-Christian governors) about how Jindal views their contributions? Jindal’s letters reflect the attitudes of rally organizer David Lane, a political strategist who believes America was founded by and for Christians. The event was paid for by the American Family Association, whose chief spokesman, radio host Bryan Fischer, believes the First Amendment’s religious liberty protections apply only to Christians.

I’ve harped for years to anybody who would listen that the Dominionist movement is one of the greatest dangers to civil liberties and a secular society out there. They hid behind names like “American Family Association”, but what they want is nothing more than their particular Biblical view to be enforced as the law of the land.

Whenever I meet someone where I’m not sure where they fit on the right wing nut job scale, I just work in a reference to 7 mountains or spheres. If their eyes light up, then I know I’m dealing with a true believer. (It’s easier than spotting replicants, that’s for sure).

It’s Dominionism, out in the open, at a quasi-political rally. It’s what they’ve been working up to since the Reagan years, if not before.

Frederick Carlson at talk2action.org has been covering these people for years. Here’s a piece he wrote just before the big Jindal tent revival.
talk2action.org

They are diligent in achieving their goals. If any candidate mentions the seven mountains, it’s a clear sign they’re part of the Dominion movement.

Also see Dan Patrick, (new Texas Lt. Gov.)

Patrick portrayed his resounding come-from-behind victory over incumbent David Dewhurst as God’s will. He said he started every campaign appearance by saying,

“…I’m a Christian first, I’m a conservative second, and a Republican third. And if our party ever turns our back on the word of God or the principles of Ronald Reagan, I will become an independent.’ And this is the key to the future of our party the future of our country and the future of this nation.”
rightwingwatch.org

“…If not for the grace of God, you, and millions of Texans, I would not be standing here today. Proverbs 21:31 says: “the horse is made ready for battle, but the victory is the Lord’s.” I worked hard, but the victory was His. I’m humbled, grateful, and blessed beyond belief for your trust in electing me as the 72nd Lt Governor of Texas.”

Does anybody have an approximate date when Christianity in this country went from “turn the other cheek” to “let’s all go up to the view site and watch our enemies burn in the pits of hell”?

From my memory of reading the history of American fundamentalism, it began around 1900, or maybe just before, got really going in the Roaring ’20s, then glommed onto the Red Scare beginning in the ’30s.

From booze to commies to hippies to Mooslims, they’ve ridden each scare wave to shore.

Rachel Maddow used to cover the Family and the goings on at the C Street House pretty often, with Jeff Sharlet as a frequent guest. Haven’t seen much lately.

I had hoped that somebody like Matt Damon would have made a movie about those freaks sometime in 2010 or 2011, but it never happened.

Been awhile since I read it, but the cast of characters included:
DeMint
Sanford
Coburn
Ensign
Stupak
and others I can’t think of at the moment.

Scary bunch, scary goals, and yet, our brilliant media ignore them almost completely.

“When will they let us control our own care? When will they do to stop causing our pain, and start feeling it again? Well, in other words, um… is Hillary a new Democrat or an old one? Now, the press asks, the press asks “can anyone stop Hillary?” Again, this is to forego a conclusion, right, it’s to scare us off, to convince that - a pantsuit can crush patriots!?”

They deserve to be cast into hell; so that divine justice never stands in the way, it makes no objection against God’s using his power at any moment to destroy them. Yea, on the contrary, justice calls aloud for an infinite punishment of their sins. It’s all selective reading of the Bible. Pick and choose what to believe.

Kind of like the Constitution. They pick and choose what parts are important, and what parts can be discarded. They read out the limiting language of the 2A, but think that the 13-15Amendments are too limiting on their ability to be racists and restrict rights of those that aren’t just like them.

That said, Bloomberg said much the same thing as Cooke today. My own read is that Palin’s EPIC FAIL of a speech was sufficiently off-putting that it is now felt she can be criticized without fear of major blowback.

Nobody is entitled to so much as a pat on the head for FINALLY recognizing that fact in the aftermath of a speech that (hopefully) ended her ability to grift on any kind of legitimate political stage once and for all.

Wait, wasn’t shingles what you got if you previously had chicken pox?

I want my pox party damnit! …. //////////11ty

Seriously. Had chicken pox when I was 17. It sucked something awful (and this was before they had the vaccination for it). If I had the chance for a vaccine, I’d have jumped at the opportunity than to avoid the misery. These people simply don’t grasp the seriousness of the diseases that they seemingly venerate like measles or mumps. They have complications that can result in permanent disabilities or death. It’s no joke, but these assholes put everyone at risk.

I’ve had shingles once and it was a nightmare. I’m hoping the shingles vaccine will stop it from ever EVER hitting me again. Fortunately my UNION INSURANCE (yay!) will pay 100% without a co-pay or deductible.

Suggested correction. Charles C. W. Cooke is a major contributor, but in my experience it should not be assumed that his articles speak for National Review as a whole.

That said, Bloomberg said much the same thing as Cooke today. My own read is that Palin’s EPIC FAIL of a speech was sufficiently off-putting that it is now felt she can be criticized without fear of major blowback.

(snip)

“The school lays out their priorities very clearly with the student’s relationship with God first, followed by their relationship with family. Third is education. The school’s view is if a student hasn’t strengthened the first two priorities on the list, a good education won’t mean much.

(snip)

“Students will be expected to follow DCA’s standards of conduct as well as have a 2.0 grade average. Although the entire curriculum will be presented from a biblical worldview, a student doesn’t need to be a Christian to attend. However, parents and students are asked to commit to the school’s code of ethics.”

We had just a dusting of snow this morning, but that was after getting almost half an inch of rain over night before the temperature plummeted at dawnish hours, all that rain froze on the roads, then that dusting of snow wreaked havoc. Wrecks everywhere (one involved a fatality, and in another county a schoolbus full of kids slid off on its side into a steep ditch).

if you cut and paste out all of the places in matthew where jesus is “quoted” directly, you get a very interesting portrait of a preacher

who resembles the typical christian portrait of jesus not very much

also, jesus, clearly, was a practicing jew (according to the gospels, anyway) so it makes sense to place his philosophy, in as much as it can be made out from what he is “quoted” as saying, in the context of 1st century judaism

Sure, he was probably a Jewish apocalyptic preacher, of which there were dozens at that time. re: #324 lawhawk

My guess is that the need is going to be mostly on Long Island and further up into CT and MA. Maybe some localized issues in NJ, particularly on the Shore, but inland wont be too bad.

I hope.

For the moment, our part of Northern NJ is in a dry slot. Quiet before all heck breaks loose.

Yep…the quiet before the (oh shit, all hell is breaking loose!) storm…

I bet when this stupid snowstorm is over, DC will have more snow than Philadelphia. I hope I’m wrong, but they had no business with the local forecasts they made.

Hey, just so long as it doesn’t show up here in the backwoods as a surprise.
I cant take anymore of that Mother Nature being a jokester…

The Philly forecasters would have you believe that a snowstorm that had already passed us by was somehow going to dump a foot of snow out its ass while it was headed off to the northeast. I was skeptical of the forecast from the beginning, but it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities.

I’ve read a few of the arguments for and against as well, I find Q a bit more plausible mainly due to the way Luke/Acts ended up being organized.

It’s really awful. By not banning this evil fucker for good, Twitter is sending a message that they welcome misogynists who harass rape victims.

I’m not going to be driven off by this, though. I don’t give up.

And I thank you for that. Chuckles C. is a carbunkle on Twitter and the longer he remains, the further the rot spreads.

The Weather Channel is starting to play games with the snow totals for NYC metro, claiming that we’re going to get less than they originally forecast.

I’m not buying it.

Neither is the Weather Service or Channel 5 and the radar is suggesting 20-30 inches total. Long Island is going to be hammered. Where they might see less is Western NJ (Sussex, Hunterdon, etc.)

TWC is saying NYC will see 8-12 additional inches of snow on top of what was already seen. All the local newscasters are showing far more to come than TWC.

TWC is the outlier here, so unless they’ve got something all the others don’t, I’m not seeing it.

347 SteveMcGaziBolaGate  Jan 26, 2015 7:19:01pm

re: #346 lawhawk

I think TWC plays things pretty straight, in spite of their ridiculous habit on naming winter storms. Local news always gerrymanders the forecast map so the higher line always runs through the city, but TWC doesn’t do that.

Anti-semitism has been a part of Western right wing politics since the birth of the left-right division in the French Revolution.

For the most part, this right wing anti-Semitism has been on hold since WWII because the Holocaust is still too recent. However, it will inevitably return.

Apolgists for oligarchy/aristocracy always seem to need scapegoats for some reason.

Human beings need monsters, and the people in charge need monsters to control the people they are in charge of.

Odd thing about The Floyd: They’re one of the few bands (including the Stones) whose concert recordings aren’t as good as their studio stuff. It’s almost like they take some of the sharpness off between the studio and the stage.

That’s been around for a while. I think the sequel, “Morgan’s Miraculous Meningitis”, was never made due to the sudden illness of the author.
