Southlake’s Carroll ISD filed a lawsuit Tuesday challenging the Biden administration’s recent changes to Title IX that extended protections to LGBTQ+ students, court records show.

The lawsuit comes after the Carroll ISD board of trustees voted 7-0 after an executive session during a board meeting May 15 to “proceed with litigation against all necessary parties related to proposed changes to Title 9 and their effect on Carroll ISD,” according to a social media post by the district.

Carroll ISD is represented by the conservative legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, which also worked to overturn Roe v. Wade, pro bono in the litigation.

The changes to Title IX, the law that bans discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance, clarify that it also protects against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“The final regulations promote educational equity and opportunity for students across the country as well as accountability and fairness, while empowering and supporting students and families,” the U.S. Department of Education said in a statement announcing the changes in April.

“For more than 50 years, Title IX has promised an equal opportunity to learn and thrive in our nation’s schools free from sex discrimination,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in a statement in April. “These final regulations build on the legacy of Title IX by clarifying that all our nation’s students can access schools that are safe, welcoming, and respect their rights.”

In the new lawsuit, Carroll ISD alleges, “the Department of Education has redefined the word ‘sex’ in Title IX to include ‘gender identity.’”

Their arguments suck especially since they want to eliminate Title IX all together.

Not a fan of this show at all, but I might watch this season.

Jon Lovett, Pod Save America Co-Host and Former Obama Speechwriter, Cast on Season 47 of Survivor

Season 47 of Survivor will have a familiar face among its cast: Jon Lovett!

During a preview for the next installment of CBS’ long-running hit that aired on Wednesday, May 22, the podcaster, comedian and former presidential speechwriter was featured among the competitors vying for the million-dollar prize and title of sole survivor.

“I have no outdoor skills. What am I doing here?” said Lovett. “I went camping as a cub scout. I threw up and went home!”

The star follows in the footsteps of other notable personalities who have competed on the show, including White Lotus creator Mike White, Facts of Life actress Lisa Whelchel, SWV singer Taj Johnson-George, Country singer Whitney Duncan, football coach Jimmy Johnson and a slew of athletes like Brad Culpepper, John Rocker, Danny McCray, Julia Landauer, Elizabeth Beisel and Steve Wright (among many others).
Lovett wrote speeches in the Obama administration for three years before transitioning into a popular career in podcasting. He began with The Ringer’s political podcast Keepin’ It 1600 before co-founding liberal media company, Crooked Media. The Long Island native is a regular on their flagship podcast Pod Save America and since March 2017 has hosted the panel show Lovett or Leave It.

These people are a threat to freedom. They want their religion (which is White Christian Nationalism) to control everyone else, with them at the top of the food chain. I wish more people were treating this election with the alarm it deserves.

Student Speaker Dramatically Goes Off-Script at Harvard Graduation

A Harvard University student speaker put the institution on blast Thursday morning when she dramatically went off script during her commencement address to slam the school for punishing more than a dozen of her peers for their activism.

Shruthi Kumar, the Harvard senior chosen to deliver the English address, sharply reprimanded the university leaders during her time at the podium. During her speech—which was titled “The Power of Not Knowing”—Kumar drew out a piece of paper containing off-script remarks hidden up the sleeve of her crimson gown.

“As I stand here today, I must take a moment to recognize my peers—the 13 undergraduates in the class of 2024 that will not graduate today,” Kumar told the crowd. She was referring to the 13 students who had been denied the opportunity to walk at commencement over the sanctions they’d received for participating in campus pro-Palestinian protests.

“I am deeply disappointed by the intolerance for freedom of speech and their right to civil disobedience on campus,” she continued. “The students have spoken. The faculty have spoken. Harvard, do you hear us?”

“Harvard, do you hear us?” she repeated.

In response, Kumar received a standing ovation from the crowd, including some of the faculty. The rest of her remarks covered the war in Gaza, the experience of being doxxed for her views, and what she characterized as attacks on free speech and free expression.

That’s part of the larger dereliction of duty of the US mainstream political media.

They are supposed to act in the public interest as a quasi- 4th branch of government to inform people of relevant information.

Well, what could be more relevant to US politics than the fact that the Republican party is a shit-pit cesspit of Satan utterly dominated by one of the worst people in recorded history? And that it has been working its way to this sorry state of degeneration for many decades?

I saved almost $200 on tequila by stopping at the airport liquor store on the way to the taxi and buying a bottle there for $75. I hate that about the Strip…everything is way overpriced and the people who stay here accept it as part of the experience…Saw a receipt from the EDC event last week where someone paid $1995 for a bottle of Clase Azul…that shit’s normally $169 (still not cheap but a 13x mark up?). Tomorrow, when the missus goes to visit a client site, I’ll take an uber to an off-strip casino where I can play $10 tables and make a couple hundred bucks last an afternoon.

The current right wing scam con targeting black men and instilling a sense of resentment and pure misogyny is being effective to an extent. The dishonest “concern” the right wing has for black men in regards to current male/female dynamics in the age of social media plays upon longstanding cultural upheaval yet offers no solution other than white male Christian rule in the end. We will see how effective this targeting of black men plays out in the actual Election. The realization their resentment is being played upon by those who would love the thought of shipping them all “back to Africa” or to the bottom of the ocean or simply incarcerating them for prison/slave labor has to occur at some point.

Yeah but this is inauthentic performance for a social media audience that wants to be racist but also needs to pretend to self-defense of their culture and thus must deilberately create offense through disingenuous parsing of any available stimulus.

It’s like when a abusive husband arrives home in a bad mood and stalks about trying to find a pretext to unleash on his wife and kids: the very act of assuming the performance is authentic…even if the “authentic” reaction is embarrassing or even shameful…grants the abuser license.

Bridgette Gabriel wants to give her audience what they want: the titallation of outrage, the pretext for racism but also the pretext for a total culture system in which whiteness is the only acceptable representation of personhood.

The audience understands what is being offered and will in turn suspend their factual understanding of what a play is because that isn’t important compared to the long term project of making their nipples hard with pleasurable contempt as they imagine how ugly and stupid it is to have nonwhites doing Shakespeare.

Neither the poster nor their respondents care about Shakespearean canon, only that Shakespeare can be weaponized to promote whiteness—an amorphous, deliberately-hollow construct that actually strips away regional European culture to invent a synthetic “nothing but the best bits” luncheon-meat bloc that is effectively the culture of nowhere and no-one…including it’s defender, who don’t give two tugs of dead dog’s cock what counts as quality literature because they’re incapable of perceiving media as anything but a confirmation of their own superiority.

Authorities are investigating the death of a soldier from North Texas as a homicide after she was found dead Saturday in a Tennessee home near Fort Campbell.

Clarksville police officers responded to an ambulance call about 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road, the department stated in a social media post. Inside the home, officers found a dead woman and detectives with the department’s special operations homicide unit responded, police officials wrote.

Authorities ruled her death as a homicide and are actively investigating, the post stated. On Tuesday, police officials identified the woman as 23-year-old Katia Duenas-Aguilar. She was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, about 5 miles northwest of where police responded.

Duenas-Aguilar, who is from Mesquite, was assigned to the Army’s 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as a member of its combat aviation brigade, division officials wrote in a Tuesday news release. According to the Army, the 101st Airborne Division is the only air assault division of the military branch.

Old enough to remember back in the 50s when TV shows did 39 episodes a year and then there were either reruns or a “summer replacement series”. Gradually they reduced the number of shows to now they make as few as 22 if a series is OK’d for a year…

My great grandfather (mother’s paternal grandfather) worked on building the Eads Bridge. He fought during the Civil War (on the Union side), came home and had trouble finding work. I believe he cut timbers for it in the forests of southern Illinois, but I don’t know for sure. I have his cane, a plain simple dark hook. He could not have been very tall, as I have shrunk to 5 feet, and can still use. Hands have work it smooth. I’m proud of him.

That tree on the flag at the top looks like the one used by the Citizens Party (USA) in the 70s/80s. I tried to find a pic, but DuckDuck is all over my search thingy and Google won’t let me in, even when I make them the default. So I found a box with a file, and one small B&W of that tree, over the words CITIZENS PARTY. Too much trouble to scan & share. It looks just like the one at the top, except all black. With different words.

The Citizens Party was to the left of the Democrats, but not very much. I was at their convention in San Francisco, and I remember a woman at a meeting talking about the youthful left fringe of the group, and how they could be used. I was disgusted, but as a youthful person to her left, I kept my mouth shut. I did too much of that.

Another great pick by the GOP

Republicans in Minnesota just endorsed Royce White, a former NBA player and pro-Trump conspiracy theorist, for the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Amy Klobuchar. But it turns out he is hiding a lot of skeletons in his closet.

White, up to this point, is best known for wearing the words “Trump Won” on his head during the Big 3 League games in 2023 and for proclaiming that women these days “have become too mouthy” in an interview with Trump strategist Steve Bannon. But that’s not all — he may have broken campaign finance law in a very colorful way.

According to The Daily Beast’s Roger Sollenberger and Mini Racker, “At five in the morning one week after Republican Royce White lost his 2022 Minnesota congressional primary, his campaign shelled out more than $1,200 in donor funds to a vendor 1,800 miles away not typically associated with political expenses — an all-nude strip club in Miami, Florida, called ‘Gold Rush Cabaret.’ That is just one among dozens of outlandish but previously unreported payments that The Daily Beast has identified from White’s 2022 Federal Election Commission filings. Several campaign finance experts characterized some of the expenses as potentially illegal spending.”

White, for his part, claims these were all legitimate campaign expenses.

But there are more bizarre expenses White has claimed in his filings, the report continued: “The Daily Beast reviewed White’s 2022 primary campaign reports and found numerous items that boggled legal experts. The unusual expenses include a total of more than $100,000 in mysterious wire transfers and checks reported as paid to the campaign; hefty tabs at spicy nightspots; getaways at posh hotels in at least seven states; thousands of dollars in limousine services; unexplained cash withdrawals; eye-popping purchases from electronics, sporting goods, clothing, and musical instrument retailers; and the DribbleUp smart basketball training app that White himself admitted might be personal use.”

Personal use of campaign funds can rise to the level of a crime. Former Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), another large supporter of Trump, pleaded guilty to corruption charges in 2019 for a hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal uses for campaign money through falsified records, including extramarital sexual liaisons with lobbyists.

Emergency meeting of the village board last night.

The chairman was unavailable so I was in charge.

Two items: report on the outage of the water system today. (I had normal water pressure at my house at 4AM when I washing dishes, but by 10AM there was no water pressure at my house.) For some reason, the water system controller board was off-line. The telephone warning system was out as well. Restored by manually running the water pumps to fill the tower while the controller re-booted.

More important and the reason the meeting was called:

The sale of the general store was completed. As such, their liquor license went dead on completion of the sale. The meeting was to reissue the license to the new owner.

Without objection, the resolution passed.

The city park tonight has been taken over by Mennonite campers from Kentucky. (The village allows overnight camping and use of the outdoor kitchen equipment.) Earlier in the day I went to the general store, also swarming with Mennonites, who gave me the side-eye when I indulged in vices of buying rum, lotto tickets, and cigarettes.

That was sort of the IJN viewpoint by mid-1943 when engaging in night combat with the USN during WW2. Once the USN commanders started figuring out how to apply radar information* to their decisions the Japanese advantages due to their emphasis and training on night combat evaporated.

* - Including the introduction of the CIC (Combat Information Center) where all the incoming radar and other information could be plotted and viewed to aid in decision making.

Kabosu, famous dog behind Doge meme, has died

Kabosu, the Japanese dog who inspired the Doge meme and influenced internet culture for more than a decade, died Friday after a long illness, according to her owner. She was 18 years old.

Her owner, Atsuko Sato, said Kabosu passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Friday when she fell into a “deep sleep” at her home in Japan. “Kabosu is at rest now,” she wrote in a message she shared online.

“Through the window, the soft light was shining in. Outside the window, birds were singing on a beautiful morning,” Sato wrote in Japanese. “As I caressed her, as if she was sleeping, she passed away quietly.”

“Everyone who loved Kabosu, thank you very much. Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. And I was the happiest dog owner in the world,” she added.

That means this fucking lunatic white nationalist fascist authoritarian GOP party is going to go after my son. And the sons and daughters of other adoptive parents who grew their families from children of color who may not have parents who are American citizens.

It’s not like Trump or the GOP care about due process and the rule of law. They’re just going to do it, to thunderous applause of white people who have never been within 500 miles of a US border, let alone the Southern border and who hardly ever travel beyond their state border or visit another country when they’ve lived in a homogenous white community all their lives and hardly ever see a person of color.

Brooklyn rappers accused of murder conspiracy join Donald Trump at Bronx rally

Two surprising guests joined Donald Trump onstage at his Thursday night rally in the Bronx.

Rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow — who were indicted last year as part of an investigation into a vast murder conspiracy by two Brooklyn gangs — exchanged warm words with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee in Crotona Park.

Sheff G, known to the government as Michael Williams, was out on bail set last month at $150,000 cash or $1 million bond for conspiracy charges and multiple counts of murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the case covering 27 different acts of violence — including a dozen shootings.

His protege Sleepy Hallow, whose legal name is Tegan Chambers, was out on bail set at $200,000 cash or $150,000 bond for conspiracy charges.

A few years ago someone dumped a number of small goldfish into the neighborhood pond (25 acres of open water, mostly 4 to 5 feet deep with one small area maybe 10 feet deep). They were big enough to spawn.

I was very confused one day when I saw an osprey overhead with very orange feet. Then the next day I saw the same osprey dive and come up with something orange and it finally dawned on me what it was - about a foot-long goldfish. Took about a year and a half for the osprey, great blue herons, and egrets to clear the lake. Can’t easily hide in 4 ft water if you’re bright orange.

The Emirates is arming and supporting one side in the conflict, but UK and US officials have shied from confronting it

The war in Sudan has become one of the worst ongoing humanitarian crises in the world. In a little over a year of fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), there have been 6.8 million people internally displaced, 2 million fleeing the country, and 24.8 million, almost half the population, in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

The United Arab Emirates is the foreign player most invested in the war. In fact, without its direct and all-around support, the RSF would not have been able to wage war to the same extent.

Sudan is key to the UAE’s strategy in Africa and the Middle East, aimed at achieving political and economic hegemony while curbing democratic aspirations. Since 2015, it has sourced fighters from both factions to join its conflict in Yemen. It is the primary importer of Sudan’s gold and has multibillion-dollar plans to develop ports along Sudan’s Red Sea coast. By supporting the RSF in Sudan, it has undermined the democratic transition that followed the 2019 ouster of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan’s dictator for 30 years.

Upon the outbreak of war, it reportedly established logistical operations to send weapons to the RSF through its networks in Libya, Chad, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Uganda and the Haftar and Wagner militias. It has reportedly disguised armament and supplies as humanitarian aid. In addition, RSF business, finance, logistics and PR operations are carried out from the UAE. Injured fighters are reportedly airlifted to be treated in an Abu Dhabi military hospital. And Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), the RSF commander, is said to have visited a few African countries on board an Emirati airplane belonging to a company owned by an Emirati royal and adviser to the president.

I’m still learning about the Sudanese conflict but the RSF are the Janjaweed. Same guys that did for Darfur a decade ago.

The Middle Eastern monarchies are doing glow-up PR pieces for their states in Eumerican media about how they’re becoming progressive, but in practice they’re regional powers playing exactly the kind of dirty pool that cranks up the casualties.

Another one I just confirmed based on someone’s search over on Twitter about whether the U.S. has ever had a Muslim president.

it is true but only in the very broadest sense, as his father and step father were born Muslim.

Which is to say not true at all, since no-one is born a muslim, you have to declare yourself one.

I get the idea, but I do think there’s a limit to how far you can go on some of that. That’s the point of actors, but there are also fewer big roles for disabled people to play.

I am imagining this casting call though: Henry VIII can only be played by people who have broken backs, a plus if you’ve started a church and had some of your wives killed.

Now would be the perfect time for Romeo and Juliet to be played by men. It could even be meta: have two acting companies battling it out for the right to put on Romeo and Juliet, but the lead Romeo’s have fallen in love with each other.

The task of the casting director is to choose actors that put asses in seats or eyes on the advertising. If that works with Denzel Washington as a Spanish grandee or Kiri Te Kanawa as a Japanese maiden, that’s wonderful.

Reality: If he got 2500 it was probably a lot. The NYPD claims he got about 3200 based on overhead surveillance, and his rally permit allowed 2500. It was puny in size, but it wont stop Fox or Trump to exaggerate.

Besides, even if you allow his BS claim to stand on its own, he managed 25,000 out of 8 million NYers, most of whom are Democrats and voted overwhelmingly against him in 2016 and 2020.

Fact is, he was always going to lie about his audience size. It’s what he does. Fox is there to amplify it.

Wine in boxes is perfect to keep around for cooking wine precisely because it keeps well in the fridge.

Yeah, I know, never cook with a wine of lesser quality than what you drink. Except that I find it really hard to believe that once it’s been “reduced to a glazy film” or in the oven for an hour, you’re going to notice the difference. Maybe if you’re pouring it in at the very end, but even so, I suspect middle of the road wine won’t be noticeably different from your good stuff in that application.

My neighbor (who does not drink) has a cellar full of wine bottles, most all white Rieslings, all at least 20 years old. Useless for anything but cooking. He is moving out soon so I am going to bo help myself to yeveral years’ worth of cooking wine stock.

But there’s no Jews to blame, so university students don’t care.

I wager good money you’ll find more college students pissed about Sudan than any other kind of American. Ironically, the person talking about Sudan on this board is doing so precisely because he used to be a university student doing teach-ins on international issues.

The sampling error you’re making…well, two of them…is that nobody gives a shit about the protesting and advocacy on university campuses that regularly happens, so it rarely gets coverage unless the press deems the subject relevant, and the general standard of “relevance” is whether the US is an active agent in the thing being protested.

It’s the standard “you don’t matter and are over-sensitive, I won’t listen” or “you’re so loud I’m entitled to not listen” dichotomy that’s played out year after year.

And frankly this entire “but people don’t care if it’s Jews” thing is gross…because it on one hand it’s documentable that people do care and protest stuff consistently, it’s just that those protests have consistently been dismissed as elitist or naive and given no further coverage, for example the first time violence in Darfur was protested…and on the other the people that don’t care about blowing up many varieties of Muslims for twenty years are posing as though they have some kind of moral high ground when their consistency…that it is acceptable to saturation-bomb some kinds of people because of collective guilt, but not others, guess the criterion…points to something less than moral outrage as a motive.

WRONG

The entire reason for protests is to force a public entity to change a policy. That is what protests try to do!

There are no means by which protests can change ANYTHING in Sudan because we have a negligible relationship with very little or investment or military aid. Universities don’t have endowment portfolios in Sudan. Lockheed Martin doesn’t sell anything to them.

What the fuck is the point of a protest that by definition cannot have a goal in changing behavior?

Think for a minute at least before you accuse me of red herring bullshit.

Also featured U2 as a 9 AM day 3 act. It was amazing it was a super high energy show always remember

And I still don’t understand this fully but somehow I reached the Johnson Drive exit in Ventura just as the song was ending and I was in a piece of junk Monte Carlo so it’s not like I was doing any radar love style driving😎. Mass deportations. Of who exactly.

It’s not just people who are undocumented. He’s going to go after anyone who isn’t a white person who isn’t native born American born to white parents.

There are many people who are well-traveled and educated who support this proposal. Racism, ignorance, cruelty and nationalism are not exclusively the purview of the poorly educated only.

The point of the pro-hamas protests is the destruction of Israel, not a change in behavior.

You’re point is refuted by the pro-hamas demonstrations that are not US centered, and in countries that give little or nothing to Israel militarily or otherwise. They all have the same message: only Israel is to blame.

In response to this blanket statement from you:

The point of the pro-hamas protests is the destruction of Israel, not a change in behavior.

Here’s an actual reason:

At Brown University, school officials and student-protest organizers reached an agreement last week that ended that encampment on campus, in exchange for a possible future divestment from Israel by the school.

“The University agreed that five students will be invited to meet with five members of the Corporation of Brown University in May to present their arguments to divest Brown’s endowment from ‘companies that facilitate the Israeli occupation of Palestinian Territory,’” the school said in a statement.

Could well be, but again, there is religious belief, religious practice and then there is everybody’s individual conscience and faith

which is the main reason God gave our Founding Fathers the Divine Wisdom to keep Church and State separate so religious and doctrinal squabbles do not immediatley blow up into matters of law and policy (although they sometimes do)

IIRC (dubious), physicians’ analyses of Richard III’s skeleton indicated that even though he had pronounced scoliosis, it was a lateral kind that would not have prevented him from riding a horse - or fighting on one - and might not have been that noticeable in a casual meeting.
Though of course, as one of his (and History’s) Designated Villains, Shakespeare had to characterize “Crookback Dick” as being as deformed as possible…

Unrestrained Christianity is a nightmare. You need a strong civil society to set limits on all brands of religious people, and to encourage them to put reality first, or there’s no limit on how far they’ll go in rolling back progress. In our house, boxed wine is a cheap source of alcohol for when we want to get properly drunk. It’s somewhat akin to the story of Jesus turning the water into wine; as the story goes, He made the wine so good that the host of the party said, “Yo, my guy, usually we serve the good wine first and then roll out the cheap stuff when people are somewhere between “plastered” and “completely fucking hammered.”

“Boycott US universities for investing in companies that do business with Israel” is, apparently, not a hard sell.

(It actually is, the demonstrations were loud and shiny, so they got lost of coverage, but they didn’t really attract large numbers.)

im gonna guess (yes - no data) that most universities investment committees dont directly invest ‘in companies’. they likely invest in funds. it’s safer and easier. those funds invest in companies.

to specifically target individual companies to own - is very expensive to do. you have to monitor their behavior as well as their financial performance. it could be very costly to divest when a whiff of a ‘bad practice’ emerges even if the valuation is good.

it becomes clear very quickly that almost all ‘investing’ is interrelated. there’s no way to carve out a country. certainly not cleanly, or i might add, financially safely.

and trying to find a ‘pure/clean’ fund is also a fools errand. define ‘doing business with’. what business sectors? military adjacent only? then decide what the threshold is that matters.

this is the same twice removed problem discussed above only here it’s investments and not countries.

I drink 2-3 times per week, almost more as an established ritual at this point than for any particular reason. When I do drink, I drink a fair amount, though not nearly as bad as I used to do, where I would literally drink until I couldn’t (i.e. blacked out). Wording for you fine folks…

We watch tv and often see people drinking alcohol; a shot of bourbon or scotch at the end of the day or a glass of wine when they cube hike or with a meal (at home), and I’m curious…

How often and under what circumstances do you drink?

on special occasions.

I live in a winemaking region in a country renowned for its beer, but beer makes me feel bloated and wine gives me a sour stomach. So I rarely drink more than a glass of either.

My daughter does not drink, and I generally do not like to drink alone. On the other hand, if I want to socialize , I have to drive to get most anywhere and I do not drink and drive at all. Not even one drink.

That probbly comes fro living in Moscow, where there is a 0.00
limit. I got used to that, and when I came back to Germany, I recall having one beer and driving and noticing the difference and not liking it, so I gave up the practice.

If I am drinking for effect, then I go for clear spirits (vodka, tequila, gin or white rum) I still have a bottle of Patron anejo I got for my birthday last year and only just finished the bottle of vodka I fetched for Christmas and New Year’s festivities.

re: #303 7-y (Expectation of Great Things in Due Course)

I go through about a pint of vodka daily, in the evenings.

That’s probably enough to do some harm (or prolong your life if you’re in a shitty situation).

Sounds like you’re an alcoholic. You’ll live longer and healthier if you switch to weed. I’ve seen the devastation that drug testing moving people to alcohol did to my friends. Alcohol is not a good drug.

I have no intention of killing myself slowly by pickling my liver in booze. I ain’t about that.

What does it taste like after sitting in an opened bottle for 31 years?

New in PN: “If Trump returns, it’s likely he and his minions will push to abolish the 22nd Amendment and its max of two terms for presidents — in fact Project 2025 is already scheming to do just that. Don’t have to take it from us. Listen to the man himself.”

Somebody has to actually try to bring a case to the ICJ. The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Putin.

True. Admittedly, I sometimes miss some things when I vent.

Most cooking shows I watched always caveat their choice of wines to using a wine to cook with that you would drink.

I don’t think I’d would cook with boxed wines either.

I don’t drink wine, gives me migraines, but it is my understanding that for table wines that are not meant to be aged, boxed wine is a far superior packaging method in just about every way. Because of the way it is decanted it can stay fresh for weeks after opening, no chance of cork taint, the box protects the wine from light that can deteriorate it etc.

When we left Italy, my friend gave me a bottle of 12 yr old grappa. It’s half-empty now, and it’s 55 yr old grappa.

My grappa (dangermoms dad) lived to 94

Sodium based batteries are starting to enter production. While they don’t have the energy density of Lithium, Sodium is easier to get to and can be charged very rapidly. Hopefully we’ll get to where we’re not having to dig up lithium.

I do not drink and have never indulged. I did have a sip of wine during the wedding ceremony, as part of the ritual. Hate feeling I’m not in control.

Considering Trump is facing a life ending prison sentence if he loses the election, he will willingly burn down DC before he allows this to happen. Don’t think that there may be possible violence; it is a guaranteed outcome to a movement that has let to have become out of control by politics, the judiciary and American society in general.

Haven’t tasted it in years—I’m supposing it tastes better than when opened. The color has gone from clear to slightly gold. It’s 100 proof, so it’s more a matter of feeling it than tasting it.
