That will be all the voters who were too young to remember that tax hikes can be retroactive.

Let's try to remember to nominate LGF for best blog design when the Weblog awards come around next year.

Voting for "Best Conservative Weblog" starts Monday -- and LGF is a finalist!

Even though I personally agree that LGF could totally pwn in the best design category. Definitely nominating next year.

I love that there are some Lizards that hang out in the links that you don't see often in the front page comments. And that there are still more that prefer to hang out in the lounge. There is certainly a lot to do here.

Links ratings reversible?!? I have to tell you, you know,..I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often.

33 stevieray  Sun, Jan 4, 2009 5:25:40pm

Since this is a tech thread, I've got a question...

Anybody have any opinion on Drive Imaging software like Acronis, Paragon, Ghost, etc..?

Got an external HD from Santa this year... the drive itself seems OK [as physically reliable as any other], but the back-up program really sucks. I want to scrap the pre-installed software, and use a third party program.

Any ideas? Thanks!

34 ratherdashing  Sun, Jan 4, 2009 5:25:40pm

There is some confusion on how the + and - are used. Some think it should be used to illustrate one's approval or disapproval of the content of the link. Others believe they should be used to show one's approval the "catch" or the "find".

45 bosforus  Sun, Jan 4, 2009 5:30:11pm

I've accidentally clicked "+" or "-" when in actuality I meant to do neither. There is no way of correcting the mistake other than adding 2 to an incorrect downding or subtracting 2 from an incorrect upding. All I really want to do is bring it back to its original rating.

Once you've clicked one of the buttons, you cannot reset to "0" If you change your mind, your vote changes, it doesn't disappear entirely.

Pay to play - corruptocrat style.

A developer in New York state donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton's foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman's mall project.

This could also have a "self policing effect" if applied to comments ...

Proposal : Why not say (if possible and "easy") that a registered member could loose his ability to post links and/or comments for a couple of weeks (or so?) after the member posted, lets say 3 links/comments, during a same week that got dinged down "under 10" ?

Not anymore. That's the drive I got, and it won't copy anything outside of your "my documents" folder.

The Maxtor forums are full of pissed off people who got new HDs and can't clone their entire C drives... Maxtor no longer supports that feature.

Does anyone know where on NASA's site I can find the actual raw temperature values for their data as opposed to their "deviation from the norm" data.
I've scoured this page and only found this:

Finally, we note that we provide the rank of global temperature for individual years because there is a high demand for it from journalists and the public. The rank has scientific significance in some cases, e.g., when a new record is established. However, otherwise rank has limited value and can be misleading. Note that, given our estimated error

Yet they don't appear to make the data available! Maybe I'm just missing it.

Speaking of New Orleans, this is one strange city. The drama never stops. So, since all the people I know are lunatics and I just can't figure out what is actually acceptable behavior anymore from others.... Not asking for advise. Just asking if anyone thinks this is odd and inappropriate -- this so called friend came for a visit but decided she was going to live with me. I kicked her out 3 times! She began by befriending one of the neighbors, which was good at first.

He is now letting her stay in the basement next to his apartment. Fine. But she has befriended another neighbor who she knows from confidential conversations in the past that he has made a lot of trouble for me. And she befriended my ex, who is friends with the creep.

Is this a fucked up thing to do or am I overly sensitive? No doubt the gossip is now even juicer. I'm trying not to be upset. They all spent new years eve together.

The picture alongside this story shows a Hamas supporter planting a Hamas flag in a pile of rubble where their Mosque weapons depot used to be.

A perfect symbol for Hamas. Planting a flag in their bombed out pile of rubble as if it were Iwo Jima or the Moon. Great accomplishment there. Getting blown to smithereens.

Yes that is what I meant. I rarely add a sarc tag to what is inherently ridiculous, probably a failure on my part given that I have been publicly censorious of those I thought improperly flippant on serious topics.

192 hermit  Sun, Jan 4, 2009 6:04:15pm

The truest beauty of the LGF community, to me, is the lack of "nanny-ware." We are forced to adapt to one another intelligently despite various circumstances, moods and states of agitation.

If you don't like how you're received, you come back later. If your comments are irritating to those on the thread, they may be better received by those who ding later.

It has been a real joy for me to find actual humans - not people who insist on "presenting" themselves here. The core community of LGF represents more what the founding fathers hoped for in their documents than anything else I've personally experienced.

Thank You, Charles.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I love Acronis True Image Home...there's a couple of issues that prevent me from declaring it the perfect backup solution (primarily, limited support for burning backups directly to CD/DVD and a couple of relatively minor issues), but overall, it's pretty damn good and you can sometimes find it on sale on Newegg (though it doesn't appear to be right now).

(Note: I haven't tried TIH 2009 yet, but TIH 11 [the previous version] works well)

Time to log for the night.

Barring a miracle, Hamas is toast.

The impact of this blow on the forces of radical Islam cannot be overstated. Hamas is a major Muslim Brotherhood organization. A sister group to PIJ, al Qaeda, Hizb Tahrir, LeT and Jaish Mohamed. Not since 2001 has one of these groups gotten pounded like this.

Given the rhetorical and symbolic importance of attacking Israel, when coupled with the humiliating ineffectiveness of Hamas, this defeat fits in nicely with the failure of the Zarkawi' al Qaeda of Iraq, whose only success came from killing other Muslims.

The IDF has completely penetrated Gaza City and is ripping through the City at will bringing down the bad guys.

I am absolutely stunned at the success I am seeing. This has all the makings of a spectacular military victory. The only thing that can save Hamas is a failure of will with Olmert but even he is not so stupid to save Hamas when he knows, knows because his commanders are telling him, that they have Hamas on the ropes and their ability to continue fighting can only now be measured in hours. By Wednesday we will see relief convoys streaming into Gaza with food and water. No mass starvation, no mass disease. The sooner Hamas caves, the less civilian casualties will be. It looks like some Hamas fanatics are fighting but only the most dedicated; the hired guns are cutting and running.

If this is victory it sends a huge message about what happens to people who shoot rockets and Jewish civilians. In Iran, the shock of what they are witnessing and the realization that Israel is a pygmy compared to the military force the US has in Afghanistan, Iraq and Gulf might cause the wiser heads to really think about how confrontational they want to be.

By this time tomorrow, it will be very clear how much longer this will go on, but it doe not look like long. Israel may be presenting President Bush with a very nice farewell present: a completely destroyed terrorist organization. The Japanese feudal lords would carefully inspect the presented severed heads of defeated enemies, Bush-san is getting regular reports and grunting with approval. Folks, this is really huge.

Believe in the Victory!

A few years ago, Symantec bought out PowerQuest, rebranded PQ's DriveImage as Norton Ghost starting with version 11, and killed PQ's PartitionMagic (one of the best Windows disk partitioning tools ever, IMO) after slapping the Norton name on it; I tried Ghost 12 (I think) a year or two ago and I was not impressed. Norton software used to be pretty good (I used to use Norton SystemWorks religiously and loved Norton AntiVirus), but Symantec's bloated their software up a lot over the past few years and totally screwed the pooch, IMO.

Believe in the Victory!

thank you AG...interesting to see how the Oboy plays it as well...go IDF!

The Ernest T. website connects to the The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club. Now you know there is a website for everything.

I'm holding out for the new episodes. Seems like I've seen this batch dozens of times!

The world must be turning upside down because the most hawkish comments I read today were from none other than Senator Harry Reid (Moonbat-NV).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALASKA - today marks the 50th Anniversary of the 49th State joining the Union! Three cheers for The Last Frontier!

Just came inside from watching the fireworks which were fired up just a block from my house. Fun watching fireworks in a gore-flakes storm.
