Hockey players carry weapons and only get a 4 minute penalty for fighting. Add the intensity of the playoffs and you got one helluva game.

APNewsBreak: Nuclear agency set to focus on Israel

VIENNA — Israel's secretive nuclear activities may undergo unprecedented scrutiny next month, with a key meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency tentatively set to focus on the topic for the first time, according to documents shared Friday with The Associated Press.

A copy of the restricted provisional agenda of the IAEA's June 7 board meeting lists "Israeli nuclear capabilities" as the eighth item — the first time that that the agency's decision-making body is being asked to deal with the issue in its 52 years of existence.

The agenda can still undergo changes in the month before the start of the meeting and a senior diplomat from a board member nation said the item, included on Arab request, could be struck if the U.S. and other Israeli allies mount strong opposition. He asked for anonymity for discussing a confidential matter.

Hezbollah says it's ready for fresh war with Israel – and stronger now

Nearly four years after Hezbollah fought invading Israeli troops to a standstill in south Lebanon, the militant Shiite group says it's prepared for a fresh conflict and confident of victory.

"We are ready for another war and we eagerly await it," says veteran Hezbollah fighter Abu Hadi on a drive through the Bekaa Valley. "We expect the next war to be short. The Israelis will not be able to endure what we will do to them."

Hezbollah's leadership insists it does not seek a war and that its military preparations are a defense against potential Israeli aggression. Yet, the inconclusive outcome of the 2006 war has stoked a feeling here that another war is inevitable.

War drums have been beating faster in recent weeks amid allegations that Syria has supplied Hezbollah with Scud ballistic missiles – a development that has enraged Israel, forced Lebanese leaders to seek international support, and complicated a gradual US-Syria rapprochement. On May 3, President Obama renewed sanctions on Syria for a year because of its "continuing support for terrorist organizations and pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and missile programs."

Hezbollah's strongholds in the Bekaa Valley are likely to be one of several front lines during another war with Israel – a war that threatens to be far more destructive than the one in July 2006. Hezbollah says lessons learned from that conflict have been implemented, including new battlefield tactics and the acquisition of improved weapons systems, surface-to-surface rockets, and possibly advanced antiaircraft missiles.

Sim, é um estilo peculiar, e por vezes um pouco pesado. Mas as descrições valem a pena. Esta é a passagem de que estava estava a falar há bocado:

...Bras, who is red-haired and has no sight in his right eye, it will not be long before people start getting the impression that this is a land of disabled men, some with a hump, some with only one hand or one eye, and to accuse us of exaggerating, when all believe that heroes should be handsome and dashing, lithe and sound of limb, that is certainly how we should have preferred them, but there is no avoiding the truth, and the reader should be grateful that we have not wasted any time counting up all those who are blubber-lipped stutterers, lame, heavy-jowled, bow-legged, epileptic, big-eared, half-witted, albinos, and dolts, or suffering from scabies, sores, ring-worm, and scurvy, then you would certainly see a long procession of hunchbacks and lepers wending its way out of Mafra…

Why would they? Israel is the perfect target for a UN agency: They have a built in list of enemies so you'll be applauded for attacking them, they have few friends so the risk of backlash is low, and Israel only uses force if force is used against her. A UN grandee can lie their ass off in defaming Israel, secure in the knowledge that Mossad doesn't come after you for defamation. By contrast, producing a hard-hitting report on Iran would get the same grandee on a death list. So they aim at the easy target. Cowardice, pure and simple.

I'm glad you kept you answer short. Were it longer, I might have not been able to maintain a semblance of civility.

I hope my reply wasn't too long.

Nimed, I'm not sure where you float on the politics boat, but this stuff is typical. You'll hear it all the time.

Of course, true thankfulness can be demonstrated by good works...

Oh, it's fine. I was just fooling around in the last comments. I feel LGF is very well balanced when it comes to politics.

It's a thing of wonder that I am able to maintain some semblence of civilty with Progs.

Oh come on. Sure, it can be boring and pretentious like Emerson, Lake & Palmer or Rush, but surely Pink Floyd makes up for it? In any case, I would hope that even the most rabid punk rocker can remain civil in the company of other music fans? :(

Meanwhile, nobody remembers Laurie Anderson.

Remember? How could I forget her?

They won't come out here. Apparently I live in no-mans land as far as high speed internet is concerned.

If you have cable, check the connection between the cable and your modem. After a while, it can wear to the point where you get the symptoms you've described. Basically, you have to cut the cable at the worn tip, strip the three layers of insulation down carefully and reattach that little copper wire to the modem. It's not rocket science, but if you've never done it before, it can be a challenge. Any electrician should know exactly how to do it.

Hezbollah says it's ready for fresh war with Israel – and stronger now

That's impossible.

There's been a UN peace-keeping mission down there making sure that no weapons get through to the Hezbollah. Not even a rock or a slingshot. Scud missiles? Someone's imagination is out of control.

/spit.
