Rep. Gohmert’s Evidence-Free Terror Baby Fear Story

Wingnuts • Views: 3,336

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) was featured at LGF last month for his mind-bendingly stupid fear-mongering about changeling terror babies from the future, and here he is on CNN ranting and yelling like a madman when challenged to produce evidence by Anderson Cooper.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the modern Republican Party.

Apparently Al Qaeda is also a hivemind, with the offspring full fledged frothing members without free will.

Am I to assume that's just whatever random other passenger he found himself next to? Newflash, dude, random strangers I find myself sitting next to on airplanes tell me crazy things, too. And I'm not even a member of congress.

Does this guy even have kids? Because i can't think of a worse way to get a child into a profession than to raise them expecting they'll fulfill that profession.

"Dude, pass me that bong...my dad called again. F'ing guy still thinks i'm premed."
"Yeah, my dad won't shut up about the family terrorism business...*cough*..."

"Naw. He'll blow his shit, and i need my allowance...we're almost out of chronic."

Maybe third dumbest. Moon landing a hoax because the flag stood out straight and everybody knows there's no wind on the Moon=first dumbest.

Rep. Louie Gohmert doesn't believe this stuff. He walks and chews gum at the same time, so there's just no way he's dumb enough to fall for his own ***.

If anything, the net strategic consequences run the other way. Children raised Muslim but with enough of a dose of experience in the U.S. to be useful as terrorists will, of course, be recruited. A few will sign on. Far more will carry stories back to their families what life in the U.S. is like, and their talk will ripple outward, and the word of what the U.S. really is like won't square with what al Qaeda is telling Muslims about America. That sort of back-door communication undercuts al Qaeda and Islamic radicalism in general.

30 Fart Knocker  Fri, Aug 13, 2010 9:58:17am

OT,

So I discovered yesterday that a fellow Naval Officer I work with is a Muslim (she made a comment about fasting, and quick one that I am I put that together with Ramadan).

Weird thing (not), she is a very nice person, loving single mother and hasn't tried to cut my head off even once...I wished her a blessed Ramadan yesterday as we were finishing work. She and I joked about the challenges of fasting during the work day.

Thats how those inherited traits work, right?

What people don't seem to realize is that "near" doesn't mean quite the same thing in NYC as it does in most places.

To get from the South Tower footprint at ground zero to the mosque site is two entire zip codes away.

that, and i hear that our silly constitution makes some mention of religious freedom, while remaining silent on the question of casino freedom...i'm sure there's a link out there somewhere/

I didn't say I agree with the comparison to Gettysburg...just that it was interesting. I wonder who fed him that angle.

Here is an interesting quote from the PG article on the proposed casino in Gettysburg.

I wonder if we would see the same outrage if a casino were to open near ground zero?

I notice that there's no public outrage over there being a strip joint or a proposed gay bar several blocks away from Ground Zero, but putting up an Islamic community center that will be open to not only persons of all religions, but those of none as well, is somehow "different."

Hell, had the same site been used instead to build a new mega-church, it probably wouldn't have garnered more than a mention on the 6 o'clock news. Okay, scratch that, it would have gotten coverage over being a source of "new jobs" in NYC and celebrated for pumping money into the economy.

Maybe I should put it on my blog anyway, to let everyone know that I ain't no Martha Stewart.

I might try something like aveeno oatmeal bath, or put some oatmeal in a square of cheesecloth and tie it up. Of course this would depend upon if they would actually sit and soak in it long enough.

Labs like water, generally. Might be worth a try.

He sounds like every other member of the 'fight terror through hysterics' brigade. If you pause to ask for facts, or figure out exactly what the hell is going on, it's because you don't understand the gravity of the situation.

No, it's not a good piece. While I tend to agree with most of that is in the piece, only because I know the details behind some of his statement, the piece is very lacking in proving points. He makes a lot of statements without any supported material.

No a good piece.

I guess my expectations of a "column" are pretty low. He could have given some backing material. And I'm guilty of complaining about that when it's a piece I don't agree with, but not this one.

his texan accent makes the rant a little bit more amusing to listen to.

But to those who like to stereotype, he makes all Texans sound like dumb hicks.

Just jumping in here, so this may already have been covered, but can we assume this idiot doesn't have kids? Only someone without a direct knowledge of children could possibly assume that the terror-baby of today will be a terrorist at 20. More likely the child who was given nothing but toy bombs as a toddler will grow up to be a guitarist or an accountant or something. Now both of those can cause damage, but it probably won't be what Gohmert is thinking of...

That may amuse you, but the dog, not so much. :-)

Yes, yes it would be amusing...but she would give me sad looks.

Gah. This may be a Pie Day Disaster.

My custard came out runny, again! It's dripping everywhere!

PIE SOS!

I'm thinking of sticking it in the oven for 30 mins, of course that may make it an even bigger disaster.

I would put it back in with something covering the crust a bit longer to see what will happen.

OT:
My lab has horrid skin (i think she is allergic to life) and gets shots that help her cope, but we can't get her next one until Wed (vet out of town) and the heat is just making her itch like crazy.
Is there a "home remedy" anyone uses?
Maybe rub her down with baking soda?
I thought about slathering oatmeal water on her belly but I figure she and the other dogs would just lick that off.

Do you live in an area with a feed store? Bag balm works wonders for almost every uncomfortable thing that happens to animals' skin (for human skin too).

But Islam does not work that way! Islam does not allow for the free choice of careers! Islam is Monolithic! These children will be raised in special Islam Camps, and trained in the way of Blowing Shit Up!!! Like the Jedi or something! But evil!!!!!

//the fact that terror networks have not had any difficulty finding US citizens to work with them does not slow this guy down.

re: #103 Stanley Sea

It can be insulting, but it also is quite heartwarming to see so many people who come to Ground Zero to reflect on what happened there. People genuinely seem to want to know - and street hawkers with photo montages of the attacks and aftermath are a common site all along Church St. (east side of WTC complex).

Crass commercialism will always exist - and the WTC was itself the epitome of commercialism (it was, after all, a center for World Trade). But that so many people flock to Lower Manhattan to see what happened, and what is being rebuilt is a good thing. As long as they know what happened and why it happened. It's an educational experience and allows people to reflect on what carnage was caused by the Islamic terrorists on 9/11 (and attempted by the 1993 WTC bombers before that).

There is a WTC Visitors Center and the WTC Preview Center opened September 2009, complete with a Benny Gordon's NASCAR car decked out in a preview center theme to raise attention and visibility for the project.

Unfortunately, both political parties have gone off the rails. For every Gohmert or Rand Paul on the right, there is an Allen Grayson, or an Alvin Greene, or a Dennis Kucinich on the left.

Thank you everyone.
Fang feels much better now and had stopped itching.
But she does smell like a salad at the moment.

I think I will pick up some Bag Balm when I'm out later.

Post #31 from joest73:

When I read your post I sat back and thought about what it really meant. Not only that you jumped a line regarding one of the fundamental foundations of this country … but that a majority of people might agree with you [the pundits on the right aside … they’re looking to both build on their power and pack their wallets, so their motivations are easily understood].

Your motivation and the “majority of Americans” puzzle me … so I sat back and thought, and thought and then … thought some more on how an American could possess such thoughts that are so contrary to what this country was founded on … then I realized that most people do not read or watch content that does not adhere to their world view … and that a sizeable portion of the world is inherently bigoted [even me, although this bigotry relates to one country I have interests in in southeast Asia … I have been working on that but the practical realities keep getting in the way … that said, it’s an internal bigotry that never intrudes on my interpersonal dealings with any individual or my writings … it only manifests while commiserating with my wife].

Whatever, I digress … sir, you scare me. The pundits and politicians do too … but I understand their motivation … money and power … you’re probably just an average dude or a dame … a manifestation of a trend that is potentially deal-changing regarding the current world order. Those that study histories know that a polarized society implodes … there are no winners, just casualties.

IMHO sir [or madam], you are no student of history.

Yeah, this. Funny how the people who claim to revere the Constitution seem to forget that.

For Anderson Cooper. All class in the face of a screaming lunatic.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the modern Republican Party."
As a lifelong registered Republican since the age of 18 (48 yo now), I am dismayed. It appears as if there is a concerted political strategy to capture the votes of the irrational and unreasonable while assuming that the rational and reasonable will stay loyal to the party in spite of it. That assumption is simply furcking wrong and I fear the imminent demise of my party. I also fear that they just might farcking deserve it.
