White nationalist and Popaditch supporter brags about Golden Hall violence, calls for armed revolution
November 5, 2010 - 12:58 am

We’ve shown you a lot of video and photos from the altercation between Republican Congressional candidate Nick ”Gunny Pop” Popaditch’s Tea Party supporters and Rep. Bob Filner, his Democratic opponent, at Golden Hall on election night. The footage shows chanting, yelling, shoving, cursing and just plain ugliness. But how did Popaditch supporters perceive it?

Here’s what it looked like to one member of Gunny’s Corps. The following video was shot, edited and uploaded to YouTube by a Popaditch supporter who happens to go by the handle “Aurick the Great White Elf“ on the white nationalist message board, Stormfront.org. At the time he was using the Beavis & Butthead image to the right as his profile image…which is fitting considering the video is very heavy metal.

The video contains amateur footage of the Popaditch Experience at Election Central, followed by images of insurgents, militias, the Irish Republican Army, a whole lot of AK-47s (Aurick lists researching AKs and revisionist history as among his interests on his “about me“) and Mel Gibson in Braveheart (wtf). It also makes reference to snipers and is accompanied by this call to action (emphasis added):

When political and diplomatic negotiations fail then we have only violent rebellion left to insure our people are fairly represented. We may have to force our government to respect our demands at gunpoint! This election was a complete fraud for those of you that still can’t see the obvious and we have almost exausted all peaceful negotiation with this tyrannical governement, so what is left? Total war is all that’s left to us! I saw the begining of it last night and so did all of you, but most of you do not realize it yet. This is a game they let us win a few seats in the House but this is not in any way a decisive victory and the tyrants are still in power! Now is the time we begin to force them to recogzise our power, and we’ve only just begun to fight. We have rebel friends around the world too that will join us in our eternal struggle for freedom.

Continues.

Here's a pop quiz for any Tea Partiers in our midst:

Here's the quiz as promised:

Question #1 (true or false):

Did Sarah Palin claim that vitriolic rhetoric targeted against her can be dangerous?

Question #2 (true or false):

Did Sharon Angle claim that vitriolic rhetoric targeted towards her can be dangerous?

Question #3 (multiple choice):

Who said that vitriolic rhetoric targeted toward politicians can be dangerous? (A) Sarah Palin; (B) Sharon Angle; (C) Both Sarah Palin and Sharon Angle; or (D) neither Sarah Palin or Sharon Angle

Question #4 (multiple choice):

Who referred to shooting people in duels as part of the proud tradition of American politics? (A) Sarah Palin; (B) Mother Teressa; (C) Martin Luther King; (D) Ghandi

Question #5 (True or false):

Did or did not Sarah Palin indicate that she should not be held accountable for vitriolic rhetoric even while decrying the harmful effects of vitriolic rhetoric directed towards her?

Jim Geraghty at NRO:

There’s no doubt that walking through a crowd of voters who yell that you’re scum is a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Perhaps Filner genuinely felt physically threatened. But we hear no threats on the tape. No one was arrested, and no charges were filed against anyone. What Filner experienced is probably on par with most visiting sports teams’ experiences in cities with tough crowds.

Perhaps the crowd that night let their passions run away with them. But it’s rather obnoxious for Filner to claim the mantle of victim and to compare his troubles to those of Gabrielle Giffords.

The dynamic of the situation is prophetic. We could see it on a wide scale if the President wins a likely re-election and a significant number of the House and Senate are carried with him. The crisis year could be 2013-14.

That's what worries me. If these lunatics are acting like this now, imagine what they'll do should Obama get a second term.

If I was religious at all, I'd pray that it doesn't come to that.

They need to be shunned, as all extremists should be. No one likes to be the odd man out.

Political leaders need to step up and LEAD. Show compassion, thoughtfulness, walk a mile in the other person's shoes, be open to the fact they may not be right and that though the other person may be wrong - that does not make him/her evil, stupid or determined to undermine America.

I'm at a loss. This can't be allowed to continue.

I am hopeful that with this highly public incident and surrounding mainstream discussion of the matter that includes disgust for this violent, eliminationist rhetoric that it will make voters more sensitive to it when it again appears. Even low information voters are hearing this and hopefully it will have an effect on polling attitudes and votes. This is the only way that things will change.

First hand isn't any fun either.

The defeated candidate - the sinister "Tea Party loon" with an eyepatch - lost his eye fighting in Iraq. He was in the Marines at Fallujah.

Rep. Filner was charged with assault a few years ago, after barging his way past an airline employee, and apparently used some of his campaign funds rather creatively to pay his wife for "consulting" work.

In other words, he's a perfectly normal congressman, and it's disappointing to see people who opposed him get so worked up. They're behaving like Frenchmen.

I hate to say it, but more police presence and if these people can't control themselves, then remove them.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) had an angry mob yelling at her during one of her town halls. I don't know if this was the only time it happened, but here, some man screamed "You're a liar!" at her. When the cop advanced, he backed off. The police presence, you watch the video, made a huge difference to bring things back to a civil discourse.

Because he's human and has done questionable things in the past, we are what, supposed to assume he's lying, or evil, or perhaps his past actions warranted not only this recent abuse but all future abuse?

I like Clarence Dupnik more every day:

...Dupnik, a Democrat, has a history of taking a stand when he believes in something strongly -- without much care for consequences.

In high school, he boycotted his town's yearly dance because Latinos were not allowed to attend. His best friend was Latino. It didn't seem right to go without him, he said.

"I didn't stand up for anything," he said, noting that he didn't try to draw attention to that decision. "I just refused to go."

Racial discrimination reared its head again when Dupnik worked in Bisbee's copper mines, which he said would not let Latino workers advance into management roles.

Seeing such bigotry helped shape his current disdain for prejudice.

"It's not right," he said. "When you start treating people based on where they were born or where their ancestors were born -- it's not right. It wasn't right then, and it's not right today."...

He turned 75 on Tuesday, so that high school dance must have been around about 1954. The Montgomery bus boycott was in 1955.

No. I'm implying that rioting over an election defeat, or a policy you dislike, is the kind of behaviour you would expect from the Frogs.
Note their reaction to recent government attempts at austerity for example.

The Tea Party movement is supposed to be about stopping profligate government spending (which I agree with 100%). I'm not impressed by seeing people I basically agree with behaving like a mob.

Again, what the fuck do the French (and your hatred of them) have to do with the hysteria in the TP?

Your use of the term "behaviour you would expect from Frogs" is ignorant. Do you mean violent protest? They have far fewer violent incidents (at political rallies or society at large) than we do. Best to look inward before randomly throwing stones at frogs or other's houses.

It's probably a good idea to give a little "extra room" to someone who has fought and sacrificed for the country, the elderly, or anyone disabled. In fact, there could be something wrong with the guy which may cause him to behave that way. You don't have to have a disability for that certainly or have fought in a war. But still, another reason why it's important to have a police presence at these rallies. We never can tell who is unstable.

The fiscal policy Tea Party got co-opted long ago but a bunch of nutters. You should have been complaining two years ago . Lamenting here and now just isn't as productive, especially when ladled over with French xenophobia. How did the French get into this?

The Tea Party is about anti-government populist rage seeded with racism, violent rhetoric, and hyperbole. The fiscal conservatives were long ago drowned out. Now it's just a bunch of iterations of various lib/winger groups frothed up hating Obama/liberals/Rinos and anybody else that piss them off, leaderless and disconnected, sorta like Islamic fundamentalists fighting against the Great Satan in leaderless cells. This is not just the madness of the Tea Party, this is a manifestation of its central image and core ideology: that the democratically and legally elected government of the USA is somehow a tyranny that needs to be overthrown by force if necessary.

Yet another purity test for the GOP POTUS candidates to pass. From the AFA's Byran Fischer:

Gov. Tim Pawlenty: “Bryan, I have been a public and repeat supporter of maintaining ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’ There’s a lot of reasons for that, but if you look at how the combat commanders and the combat units feel about it, the results of those kinds of surveys were different than the ones that were mostly reported in the newspaper, and that is something we need to pay attention to. But I have been a public supporter of maintaining ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ and I would support reinstating it as well.”

To my knowledge, he is the first potential presidential candidate for 2012 to go on public record that as the next commander-in-chief he would reinstate the prohibition on homosexual service in the military.

This is now the new benchmark for GOP candidates, and we should expect everyone else in the field to be asked this question and asked to answer it on the record. The fact that most of the candidates will be at CPAC makes it the perfect place for them to be directly confronted with this issue.

It is not a prohibition, it is just a hypocritcal policy banning any open mention of it. This in the armed forces who claim "personal integrity" as one of their "core values".

Ralph Nader and Fox News pretty excited about the Tea Party influence....
Ralph Nader "Ron Paul & Bernie Sanders Have Teamed Up To Go After The Military Budget"

Nader suggested that it already has, thanks to the unity of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the most conservative and most liberal members of their respective chambers. They've teamed up to propose cuts to the US defense budget, which has long been by far the largest sector of America's annual budget, and to push a more thorough audit of the Federal Reserve, the private central bank which controls America's currency.
"The authentic tea partiers hail from the conservative libertarian wing of the Republican party that has been so disrespected and corporatized by the likes of Bush and Cheney," Nader said. "So here they come into town and they're going to go after a lot of things the Republican establishment is opposed to."

He added that a coming "liberal-conservative connection" will ultimately "draw that distinction between the corporatist and the genuine libertarian conservatives."

And to make that point, you first needed to toot Popovich's Hero Veteran credentials, run down Filner, and then take a swipe at the French, who actually have nothing to do with the situation.

The Tea Party movement has shit to do with government spending. It's about hate, and that hate is getting more pronounced, more vicious, more bigoted, and more irrational with every passing day.

My brother just had has gall bladder removed. He's also set for vitrectomy (replacement) later this year. I'm the last of the 3 siblings with a gall bladder.

My husband wore this when I went in for my cataract surgery. They had just given me some twilight and I was laying there in a haze. I look at the foot of my bed and there's the doc, two nurses and the anesthesiologist all reading his shirt. If I wasn't so loopy, I probably would have been more concerned. "Hello! I'm over here!"

WH Press Corps is really worried about Sarah Palin.

Q When he called for better discourse last night, did he specifically have Sarah Palin in mind and her comments about “blood libel”?

MR. GIBBS: Look, I think -- I would point you to many things in the President’s -- in venues that the President has discussed this, the notion of civility in our public discourse -- dates back to his time in the State Senate in Springfield; at the University of Michigan, at the commencement last year. I have heard him say for as long as I’ve been with him the notion of disagreeing without being disagreeable. Those are aspects I think that he has tried to live his public life by.

And obviously the speech -- the President added a pretty hefty notion of empathy in the speech that, again, I think he’s spoken on on many different occasions.

Q Robert, what is your view on Sarah Palin’s choice of words with the phrase “blood libel”?

MR. GIBBS: You know, I’m -- I think there are plenty of people that can render opinions on that. I’m not going to do that. And I think -- I’m happy to talk about what the President said last night. I think that’s the role I best play in this.

...

Q Did Governor Palin’s message yesterday, the overall message, head in the wrong direction?

MR. GIBBS: Again, I think there are plenty that can --

Q She’s a public figure; the White House could have an opinion on her overall message.

Yes, she's a public figure. So is Snooki. Shouldn't we be more concerned with how Snooki feels about the Tuscon shootings? Isn't she just as relevant?

MR. GIBBS: And, again, I’m happy to speak to what the President said and how he came about saying it, but I’ll let others opine on that.

Q Has he seen her video, Robert?

Q Your own presence here, have you decided how --

MR. GIBBS: Yes. Have I or has he?

Q The President.

MR. GIBBS: I don’t know the answer to that.

369 Kronocide  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 2:25:10pm

I don't get comparisons between the Wellstone memorial and yesterday's:

He died in a plane crash days before an election he was competing in. There should be an assumption that he himself may have wanted the election and competition of values continue on in his name and legacy. I'd want a big ass party after my death celebrating things I hold dear, plus a wake with golf, poker, and fine scotch and tequila sipping.

Yesterday's memorial was more somber in the aftermath of a violent murder, but the wishes of a little girl showing interest in politics at a young age, the tenuous survival of a bright and respected congresswoman in the balance, the shock of a nation needing to reconcile with the event, the celebration of the lives that died, that was the goal of the creators. What the hell is wrong with that?

Much different.

Shot congresswoman's recovery 'a miracle'

Doctors are hailing as a miracle the speedy recovery of an Arizona congresswoman who was shot last week.

Five days after being shot in the brain at point-blank range, congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is sitting up and able to move both arms and legs.

Ms Giffords cannot talk yet because of a breathing tube but her neurosurgeon, Dr Michael Lemole, says she is communicating using her hands.

"I have to say this is major leap forward. This is a major milestone for her and we're hoping that she crosses through many more," he said.

The congresswoman opened her eyes for the first time yesterday soon after a visit from president Barack Obama.

It is a proven fact that bribes are much more effective if you give them first.

At HQDA, one of the few things you did not survive was blowing off a congressional inquiry. There were clear standards for initial, interim, and final responses.

As soon as he inquired the State Dept of our plight..... I got a call from the State Dept. The lady said "There has been a Congressional inquiry concerning your petition and you will be notified about it with in two days"

This was really a drag because we had a 5 year old daughter together who found herself in Mexico all of a sudden without dad.

Next day I had a call that my wife's appointment was moved up 4 months to now..... I could put her on the next flight to Ciudad Jarez.

419 Mr Pancakes  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 3:09:28pm

Ciudad Jarez. I mean Juarez.... that's where the US Consulate is for everyone in Mexico petitioning to come here.

Be careful. With your Stilton, Huntsman, Cotswold, Cheshire, and wide variety of delicious cheddars, you guys rival the French for cheese production.

Wines of course are a different matter.

Cotswold is excellent.

Rush Limbaugh billboard in Tucson. In fairness, it was up prior to the murders. But these guys sure have an obsession with guns.

Not if he's observant.

Ya know I just got that..... whoops..... I didn't even know he was Jewish. Maybe there were some Torah compliant items on their menu. I picked that place because it was across the street from his office.

Wouldn't go to waste. He probably has hungry interns, even if he were strict.

The Tea Party likes to hold both ends of the stick.
Yesterday the nitwit talked about "blood libel." Today her supporters yell "Jew!".
On health care reform they used Holocaust imagery, and here they begin a mini-pogrom.
"Don't tread on me, Bob!" they scream. But they will tread on Bob!

I'm from Britain.
I see you were making a different point, but it's hard to resist any opportunity to say something disparaging about our cheese eating friends.

If it weren't for the French, the United States might not have achieved independence from Britain. If it weren't for the French, we wouldn't have one of our most cherished symbols of what we stand for, the Statue of Liberty.

So forgive us, if we don't jump into your little hate-fest with you, you fucking wanker.

"Rectum? Couldda killedum". (I've actually forgotten that joke, hope it wasn't too dirty.)

Teacher: So Johnny, how was your weekend?
Johnny: Horrible. A car hit my dog, right in the a**!
Teacher (correcting Johnny's language): Rectum.
Johnny: Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

Seriously that was what, five French Republics ago? I'm a little skeptical that anyone can feel sincere affection for another country based on events 230 years ago that isn't some kind of forced affectation. You don't hear Brits talking wistfully about how fond they are of the Germans for helping out in the Napoleonic Wars, for example. It's just absurd nationalist myth-making.

More likely, bashing the "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" is a stale right-wing meme, and the right-wing is in the dog-house right now, so everyone loves ze French again, surprise surprise.

Nobody loves the French again. Some people just find French-bashing jokes boring.

I'd love to take her glasses away from her just before a speech and tell her, "If using a TelePrompTer is so wrong, you can just speak from memory, right?"

re: #399 Mr Pancakes

I can't imagine either my current Congressbeing doing that for me, since I'm neither a Catholic nor a Republican. I'm glad he was able to help.

That's not a slam on Republicans in general. Back when I lived in OKC, one of my friends was in big trouble with INS, and Mickey Edwards, at the time Oklahoma's only Republican House member, really came through for her.

Tuscon's top teabagger talks tough on Giffords...fucking asshole.

www.rawstory.com...]>

If she didn't have public events, the Tea Poltroons would be accusing her of being scared of her constituents.

If I were a Congresscritter right now, I'd make a simple announcement--"The Tea Party is going to hate me no matter what, but I'm not going to give them what they want. I won't hate them. I'm just going to ignore them. If they want to calm down and discuss issues instead of screaming, fine, I'll sit down with them and discuss the issues. But until then, as far as I'm concerned, they don't even exist."

Here's the money quote...

“Well, these are the kind of things that I think some on the left decided to manufacture even before the events occur. I mean, this is part of the playbook of Rahm Emanuel where they say any crisis should be used to their advantage to further their agenda.”

Damn. And here all along I thought it was Maciavelli. Or was that Marcus Aurelius?

I get those amoral political manipulators so confused at times.

re: #347 SanFranciscoZionist

This is true. The French have the self-esteem thing thoroughly down.

They gave the world Edith Piaf so they can hardly be blamed.
