I keep getting calls from this number, no message. The three times I’ve answered they want someone who I’ve never heard of. I tell them wrong number. The connection is really bad, so I always have to ask them to repeat. This time I told them to quit calling. The person said she “was so sorry.

So, I googled the number.

It’s possible he is kind of a douchebag

Hagel finished his career in the Senate with a 94% rating from the National Right to Life Committee. He had a 100% rating from the Family Research Council his last year in office.

He also had a 0% rating from gay civil rights group

Over the course of a 12-year career in the Senate, Hagel racked up a virtually 0% voting record from the Human Rights Campaign, the country’s largest gay rights organization (his only positive vote being for AIDS funding to Africa, not necessarily even a gay issue).

The House GOP is still blowing it. They’re still votes short of being able to pass the balance of the $51b Sandy reconstruction aid.

70+ days and counting. No other recent disaster aid package has taken to long to pass. No reason for the delay other than partisan politics and internal bickering among GOPers.

They want to claim that this aid has to be offset by cuts in spending elsewhere, but that’s never happened before, or even required before - even in major storms like Katrina. Or Andrew. Or any other storm in memory.

These GOPers who are all of a sudden claiming fiscal responsibility would be crying bloody hell if the aid was held up for even half as long as the Sandy aid was.

#Hypocrites.

Ah sweet revisionism. Seriously, it’s such a cop out to claim it’s about the deficit and fiscal responsibility. As I said last night, as deplorable as the man who consistently refuses to support aid is, the man who supports aid for his own but then says fuck off to others who need it is even worse.

They are automated calls that switch to a call center telemarketer if a real person picks up. Sometimes the call switch doesn’t sync and the call center sends a hangup instead of a connection.

Bastards. Seriously, I was fine with the court challenges but this kind of crap along with Bachmann’s Groundhog Day esque repeal effort after ACA’s constitutionality has been affirmed by the USSC just reeks of sour grapes and “We don’t want to do this because Obama waaaaaaah.”

What I’d like to see the day after Obama’s sworn in:

“You know, a lot of people out there have been putting out a lot of ideas. Ideas like I’m going to confiscate all your guns, I’m going to toss people who disagree with me into FEMA camps, declare martial law, or I’m going to force your kids into public schools.

I’d like to thank you for those ideas. I hadn’t thought of anything like that, but thanks to your input, I’m going to implement them all as soon as possible.”

An interesting theory from David Brooks
Why Hagel Was Picked

Chuck Hagel has been nominated to supervise the beginning of this generation-long process of defense cutbacks. If a Democratic president is going to slash defense, he probably wants a Republican at the Pentagon to give him political cover, and he probably wants a decorated war hero to boot.

All the charges about Hagel’s views on Israel or Iran are secondary. The real question is, how will he begin this long cutting process? How will he balance modernizing the military and paying current personnel? How will he recalibrate American defense strategy with, say, 455,000 fewer service members?

How, in short, will Hagel supervise the beginning of America’s military decline? If members of Congress don’t want America to decline militarily, well, they have no one to blame but the voters and themselves.

It’s a decent theory. Although Hagel is certainly qualified he’s controversial enough for both sides that I tend to think there’s a reason why he’s being nominated. It going to be a tough fight to get him confirmed.

Hilariously, they may wind up creating a national federal health system through the back door. That is because there is this clause that says if the state refuses, the fed will create and offer a plan for the exchange. (actually, two. But in this case that is a niggling detail.)

So the fight to keep the feds out of healthcare looks likely to backfire - to the benefit of most of us.

Glenn Beck Goes Galt: ‘Hank Rearden is About to Pour Some Steel’

While making repeated references to “Galt’s Gulch” and comparing his efforts to the things done by Thomas Edison and Walt Disney, Beck announced that his “dream labs” were working on ideas that will “blow your mind” by transforming everything from technology to education to agriculture to entertainment and even inventing new forms of energy.

And soon the people who laughed when Beck was kicked off of television “will beg for the time when I was only on an hour every day, five hours a week” because “Hank Rearden is about to pour some steel and it will fundamentally transform us” and finally make us worthy of calling ourselves Americans!

By blow our mind, I expect it means so mind boggling stupid we can’t imagine how anyone thought it was a good idea.

I do it in a dry pan over medium heat. Give it a toss every few minutes when you start to here the seeds pop. it takes about 10 minutes or so until the seeds turn a shade darker. I really love the smell, like baking bread. If you burn the seeds just toss them out, the taste is terrible.

29 Signs That The Elite Are Transforming Society Into A Total Domination Control Grid

1. A new bill in the U.S. Senate would allow more than 20 different government agencies to read your email without a search warrant.

16. According to three NSA whistleblowers, the agency “has the capability to do individualized searches, similar to Google, for particular electronic communications in real time through such criteria as target addresses, locations, countries and phone numbers, as well as watch-listed names, keywords, and phrases in email.”

29. Today, the mainstream media in the United States is totally dominated by just six giant corporations. Those corporations own television networks, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and large numbers of popular websites. The way that almost every American looks at the world is being constantly influenced by these media corporations every single day.

i knew that george bush, dick cheney, and rupert murdoch were part of the liberal fascist kenyan socialist conspiracy i jest knew it

why isn’t jonah goldberg on this???

It makes me violently angry to see them compare their quest to deny people Civil Rights to people who fought and sometimes died to get their Civil Rights. There is no anti-gay Anti-Gay Emmett Till who was savagely murdered for telling a gay couple their rights shouldn’t be respected under the law. There is no anti gay Medgar Evers begin murdered for his beliefs. And there is no anti gay MLK Jr saying that he has a dream one day that we’ll be not judged on the content not of our skin color(or sexuality) but of our character. Really comparing themselves to the Civil Rights Movement is sick. You hear about violence on pro gay rights and gay people all the time but it seldom happens the other way around? You know why? Because the average gay person and supporter of gay rights just wants people to live their lives in peace. The same can’t be said about people like Matt Barber who frankly would be better off living in a dictatorship because Barber seems to think it’s great to deny people rights.
