And Again! Donald Trump Retweets Two More White Supremacists in One Day

No accident
Politics • Views: 53,519

Again we find the leading presidential candidate of the Republican Party associating with white supremacists. So far today, Donald Trump has retweeted not one, but two overt racists.

Go check out these accounts if you don’t believe my characterization of them: @keksec__org and @NeilTurner_. Their timelines are chock full of ugly racism; and in the keksec__org timeline (he uses the screen name “Jason Bergkamp”) we find that he’s recently followed some other neo-Nazi accounts:

There’s simply no way this can be an accident or a coincidence. This makes four neo-Nazis or white supremacists Trump has retweeted so far this week alone, and these aren’t the only ones.

You’d think it would be newsworthy that the leading GOP candidate is associating with these kinds of people, wouldn’t you?

The media is scared to death of offending Trump. If they bring up something not putting Trump in his best light they’ll get the Megyn Kelly treatment and barred from ratings pumping Trump phone interviews.

Your corporate media in action.

Donald J. Trump is not an ignorant man.

Indeed, he tells me continually he went to an Ivy League school, went to Wharton, etc.

So, what is going on here?

My guess is that this is all deliberate. By that I mean he wants people to object to these tweets.

Trump is trying to do something here, the end goal of which I am not sure.

If he’s seriously running for president, he thinks he can win it on white hatred, that he can win by getting white men and women so angry at minorities that they’ll show up to vote.

And the problem with that, truly, is that if he wins, he will either have to act on that white anger or those whites will do it on their own. These are not necessarily mutually exclusive, either.

What could they say at this point that wouldn’t actually help him? Attacks from outsiders reinforce the convictions of people inside the bubble (this started under Reagan) and nothing from any of the other GOP candidates has had any effect except to make him even more popular.

I wonder how the Clinton campaign will handle him. Their normal instinct is to attack attack attack, but the regular rules have gone out the window this time.

Called it. He loses nothing and potentially gains something by doing this.

The “political correctness” paradigm that’s been laid down by Limbaugh…and basically all of the conservative pundits…leads to this.

Valorizing “un-PC” speech as brave has no bottom—intentionally. It’s like cllaiming that being counter-intuitive bestows validity. Now you can be shitty and horrid in a way that perpetuates ancient, shitty, horrid stuff, but present it as novel and bold.

i’ve been puzzled by this for months now. I have pretty much accepted now, that he plans to win the nomination with this outlandish craziness. Upon securing the nomination, he’ll tone down the rhetoric, depending on the short memory/attention span of the public, to allow a tack to the center. He knows he can count on the anti HRC crowd regardless, once the nomination is won.

My favorite example came in the summer when Trump was bragging about how his rallies are exciting but people are nodding off at Jeb! rallies.

Fifteen minutes later, CNN showed an interview with a woman who had fallen sleep at a Bush rally…

I knew that CNN killed brain cells, but this was absolutely lobotomizing.

I am optimistic that HRC will handle Trump well if it gets to that.

Most of the offensive stuff that Trump is spewing right now is right wing red meat, wingnut candidates can’t confront him on that in the primaries.

I hope.

I think now that they’ve opened Pandora’s Box it’s gonna get ugly regardless. Should Trump become the GOP’s candidate and win the general election *shudder* (I don’t think he will), the U.S. as we know it would be over because “Make America Great Again” actually means “Make America White (and Christian) Again.”

As I believe someone already mentioned, if he let down his base they’d turn on him in a heartbeat. If he became the nominee and lost in the general, the rage would be unprecedented and wouldn’t just be directed at racial & religious minorities, it would also be aimed at “race traitor” whites.

It’s like Da’esh—once they’ve seized control of an area they go after religious minorities, but their primary victims are fellow Muslims who don’t fall in line with their ideology and are therefore seen as traitors.

I think now that they’ve opened Pandora’s Box it’s gonna get ugly regardless.

The GOP had a chance long ago to call out or distance themselves from the most extreme rhetoric but they were afraid of getting shouted down at the TP town hall meeting.

What they did not realize was that they were initiating an attention-grabbing race to the bottom. Anything that is anti-Obama, no matter how contrived or contradictory is fair game and must be defended, as is anything that sounds “pro-family”, “Christian” or “patriotic”, again, no matter how utterly extreme or nonsensical.

And we ain’t seen the worst yet.

Okay, Here’s my Sunday photo: it’s got a bit of a story behind it, which I’ll tell below the photo.

Here’s the story, which happened today:

So. I’m walking along the Trongate towards central Glasgow, and i’m hearing an untrained voice belting out a famiiar tune from my childhood: Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”, from the vague direction of the pedestrianised area of Argyle Street in front of Marks and Spencers.

So. I go there, and it’s this bare-chested chap in jeans, and a fair-sized fan club at the M&S side of the street. As soon he’s finished this tune, they say: how about “Bohemian Rhapsody”? He goes back to his phone (Which is his music source, plugged into a decent guitar amp.) and dials it up, and goes right ahead and does it, calling on his newly born teenage fanclub to join in.

They most certainly do: lighters out on the ballad section, providing the high voice backing vocals for the opera bit. Meanwhile, he’s doing an awesome approximation of Freddie Mecury’s air guitar of Brian May’s original solo.

He’s a pro. He may not be a great singer, but he’s been a fantasic performer.

It’s a remarkably mild day in Glasgow, about 13-14 degrees Celcius. It’s only later than I find out that he did a similar performance a week earlier: similarly bare chested when Glasgow was all a freeze, and his performance then was a viral video.

Look, if you don’t associate with blacks socially or listen to black music, then that is not necessarily racist, it is a matter of personal choice.

If you actively or passively discriminate against blacks by denying them services, rights or representation, then that is undeniably racist.

Peggy Noonan getting sauced on the hard stuff now…

wsj.com

The clever thing (Sarah Palin) did in her remarks was to bring up Phyllis Schlafly, still a generally uncredited force in the making of modern conservatism and a brave woman. Mrs. Schlafly supports Mr. Trump because she believes the conservative thing to do about a rotting edifice—the Washington political establishment—is to tear it down. Mr. Trump will “defeat the king-makers,” Mrs. Schlafly told breitbart.com. I’d note that for those who admire the conservative philosopher-statesman Edmund Burke, this sounds radically at odds with his frequent counsel of restraint and respect for history.

But Mrs. Schlafly’s view, too, has Burkean antecedents. When he thought something so corrupt as to be destructive of British character and national life, he went at it root and branch, as he did with the East India Company, which existed at the heart of and was a symbol of the British establishment. He challenged imperial practices, which is to say imperial corruptions. The point here, again, is that what is at issue in the party right now is not the end of conservatism but what a conservative approach would consist of at this point in history.

What Mr. Trump really needs is to be endorsed not by Mrs. Palin but by a political figure with stature, some sane member or members or administrations past who could lend him credibility. He needs a gravitas injection.

Trying to figure out if this is on the level or one massive troll roll.

Most of the criticism I’ve heard has been along the lines of the fact that he has taken the show in a darker direction. Most of my other Whovian friends think that the earlier series was more lighthearted with a few serious moments, and that when Moffat got put in charge of the show, it went in a more dramatic direction. Me, I’m honestly not sure what to think; it’s clear that he is a brilliant writer, regardless.

Not surprising, most of the actors, actresses, and writers for Doctor Who have been Lefties since the beginning.

A handful of stories were written by Right-Wingers to showcase right-wing ideas, but those have always fallen flat, or ended up being pro-left anyway.

Clinton will have to attack Trump vigorously right out of the gate. She has to get her side rattled up and motivated to come out in droves against Trump and to turn the Senate blue. Treating him with kid gloves would be a hi huge mistake.

I mean yeah I’d like the Dem standard bearer to be more to my liking but the party’s left just begs to be disappointed when they have these dreams of Sanders linking arms with Senator Warren to form a super-progressive ticket. IT needs to be said but one of the most progressive legislation passed wise was LBJ who was a conservative Democrat as a legislator.

Oh yeah the KKK were ultimate cowards. So were the men who started the CSA for that matter. Started a Civil War because waah Lincoln didnt’ think they should be able to own human beings. It really would have been awesome if the white Southern poor farmers realized that the planter class played them for suckers and teamed up with the slaves and destroyed the planet class in the South. The planter class of the South really was no different from the landlord class in Ireland or feudal lords in medieval Europe.

I think you’re overstating how effective she may be against the secondary purpose of Trump’s attacks: To demoralize his foes into believe their cause lost in view of the huuugge advantages The Donald brings to bear. Hillary needs people around her to maintain hope, because Trump will try to wound that hope at the outset and claim the “frontrunner” mantle swiftly.

She counters any Trump attacks by simply showing Trump rallies, quoting him word for bigoted word, bringing up his racist past, bringing up his bankruptcies, and arguing that his campaign behavior demonstrates that he lacks the demeanor necessary to lead the most powerful country in the world.
It should be a cake walk for her. One thing that you must remember is just because the media has lost its mind about Trump doesn’t mean that we all find him so fascinating. Many of us are just itching for our chance to vote against that buffoon. He’s disgusting and shouldn’t be anywhere near the Whote House. All of Clinton’s ads must emphasize his sexism, racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia — nail him for his own words.

Right, Trump has done everything possible to become to Latinos what George Wallace was to African-Americans. Good job, Donald, the Democratic Party thanks you for showing Hispanics why the Republican Party has no use for them.

It really is a legitimate concern and I think Obama is a much more shrewd negoitator than Obama. I love Bernie’s ideas, the idealist in me loves Bernie, the pragmatist in me wonders how he’ll deal when inevitably he’ll have a hard time getting a progressive agenda passed. I really wish Biden were in it. I know Biden and Clinton are a lot more closer ideologically than Sanders and Biden are but Biden always feels more progressive than Clinton but I think he’d be just as if not more capable than Clinton at getting legislation passed.

What huge advantages does Trump supposedly have? His huge ego is not enough.

There are some of us who have been following these sovereign citizen nutbars for some time now. Joaquin DeMoreta-Folch tried to intervene in the case of Terry Trussell, a Florida sovereign citizen, who was appointed to a real grand jury, and then proceeded to try and take it over for nefarious ends. Specifically, Trussell’s been indicted for simulation of legal process for trying to file his sovereign citizen grand jury nonsense with his local county. This was back in 2014. I believe (unless there’s a last-minute delay), he’s going on trial on February 2.

Anyway, here’s a link to one of the docs that DeMoreta-Folch, the “God Grace Administrator, Statewide Common Law Grand Jury, Florida; Nebraska” filed with the court. Of course it was total codswallop and did absolutely nothing for Terry Trussell.

America has had blacks in its borders since the beginning. Latinos became part of the country with westward expansion. Therefore, white nationalism is not nationalism, it’s racism.

An old ‘friend’ is back:

Dutch MP stirs anger in anti-Islam’pepper spray’ rally

The Hague (AFP) - Tensions over Europe’s migrant crisis bubbled over in a Dutch town Saturday as far-right politician Geert Wilders handed out fake pepper spray, saying women must defend themselves against Muslim men.

Wilders, whose Freedom Party (PVV) only holds 12 seats currently in the 150-seat Dutch lower house, has seen his popularity soar on the back of the bitter refugee debate fuelling his desire of becoming the next prime minister.

On Saturday following in the wake of the sexual attacks on women on New Year’s Eve in Cologne, Wilders used a rally in the western Dutch town of Spijkenisse to again push his blunt message against what he calls an “Islamic invasion.”

“We must close the borders,” Wilders said handing out fake pepper spray — which is illegal in the Netherlands — filled instead with red paint.

Women should be allowed to carry pepper spray, he said, to protect themselves against what he termed “Islamic testosterone bombs.”

How long till the Wilders-Trump meet-up?

The tweets VB just put up remind me of something I wanted to comment on regarding change in economics in this country. We always hear about labor costs and how American can’t compete, etc.

What about profit margin? How much would the economy change if profits were under the microscope too. Some competition alone can be created by not just keeping expenses down, but what about profits down too?

Take you typical Nike shoe example. We know they pay next to nothing to manufacture the shoes…but look at their costs? What happens if people were paid a bit more to make them and the profit was decent but not as high as the market will bear, etc.

And, does a guy like Bernie ever talk about that end of the cycle? I don’t remember hearing him address how profit margins can also figure into the loss of jobs, pay scale, corporate health, stock market, etc.

My dad tells the story of his favorite business trip ever. He was a continual jet-setter throughout my growing up years and racked up tons of airline miles. One time, he went on a trip with a bunch of higher-up execs to some business function. When they were all seated, his name got called over the plane intercom: “Mr. Fish, please come to the front of the plane. Bring your bags.” With no small amount of trepidation, he grabs his bag, and the flight attendant informs him that he got upgraded to first class - ahead of his boss and his boss’s boss, thanks to his frequent flyer status.

Except it wasn’t in the face, was it? I thought he shot the guy in the ass.

I think he caught some bird shot in the cheek and neck.

I think it was in the face. The weird thing was how apologetic the guy to Cheney. I mean someone shoots you in the face and you APOLOGIZE?

Cheney shot the guy in the face. Trump just said he could shoot someone…not necessarily in the face. But it’s still funny as fuck.

It’s delicious, especially with a nice crusty loaf of artisan country style bread. It can run anywhere from around $20-$45/lb. though, so I consider it a rare treat.

One of my favorite bits regarding cheese.

Actually, I remember a decade or more ago, 60 Minutes did a bit on prison labor being used (specifically Federal prison labor) and how this labor was definitely messing with the labor markets and there was no way to fight it.

My former neighbor did get shot in the ass when he was a teenager. Some dimwit hit him with a shotgun blast because he didn’t check downrange before firing at a target. He let the guy have an earful over that one.

re: #342 ObserverArt

I work in commercial construction. 10% profit is considered right. It is sooooooo tight. That’s why the change order rules the day. It’s just a bunch of bullshit. If we went 25% all’d be good.

Trying to decide if I should go skiing or go to the Superbowl since it’s local. Two noboody-gives-a-crap teams, so I can probably get tickets for a reasonable price….then again, I also have a good connection…but having never been to a pro football game (except to see a USFL game once, which sucked), it might be fun…except that I hate Cold Play.

We had Manchego with olives and roasted red peppers for an appetizer the other night. My wife was a big fan and she got me hooked. :)

The thing that scares me is, the “without the religion” part should be getting him lambasted right about now; but apparently, he is so appealing to the inner racist asshole within the fundamentalist wing that they’re willing to overlook it. Though again, I will say that most of the Republicans I’ve talked to in person can’t stand Trump, even the fishfolk; but they will absolutely vote for him before ever punching a ticket next to the D option.

They don’t need to vote Dem, they just need to reach the point where Trump is so distasteful that they stay home on election day.

IT needs to be said but one of the most progressive legislation passed wise was LBJ who was a conservative Democrat as a legislator.

Nixon supported/signed some pretty damn progressive legislation as well.

EPA
OSHA
Title IX
Title X
Affirmative Action
