Anti-choice fraudster David Daleiden and co-conspirator Sandra Merritt have both now officially rejected plea deals that would have let them avoid possible prison sentences.

HOUSTON (AP) — Two anti-abortion activists indicted in connection with making undercover Planned Parenthood videos are rejecting plea deals offering them probation.

Sandra Merritt’s attorneys said Friday she won’t settle the case through pretrial diversion, a form of probation that would keep her out of prison and ultimately have the charges dismissed. Attorneys for fellow activist David Daleiden had previously rejected the offer.

Daleiden and Merritt each face a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record for allegedly using a fake driver’s license to conceal their identities while dealing with Planned Parenthood. Daleiden also faces a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs.

Just looked her up to understand your reference. Pretty interesting (and controversial) woman. I can see a couple of parallels between her and Hillary Clinton: the wife of a governor who ran for the office herself and won, but dealt with her fair share of innuendo of corrupt dealings.

Nice size for doing a two hour walk through. No elephants, but that doesn’t make/break a zoo for me. Mix of animals* beyond that, informative descriptions, and quite a bit on conservation and how the various animals depend on their environments. There is also a whole sky-way network for a lot of the animals to use to go between areas.

Not ideal weather since it was cool, overcast, and damp - which I think kept a bunch of animals inside.

I went today to avoid crowds, and it was a couple of school groups providing the thongs of human young. Only a problem at a few exhibits.

* - Generally has a few of each representative type, but generally not a lot of large animals in a given type. For example, two bear species, not six. And so on. A decent reptile house for the size, usually small specimens beyond some of the alligator/crocodiles.

I can still remember waking up to Governor Ventura. Nobody could believe it, especially Jesse. He got humble just out of shock for a while, but about 2 1/2 years into his term, he just kind of decided to fuck it. No-fucks-to-give Jesse was a drag.

I always skew Rassmussen a couple points left early in the campaign. They ‘refine’ their models to come up with reasonable numbers as the election nears. IIRC, Nate Silver doesn’t dismiss them out of hand, though that might have been before the new management.

That would be nice. From what little I’ve read, though, I’m not sure that there is a big scandal there. It seems like Jane Sanders was dreaming big (nearly quadrupling enrollment at that tiny college?) and wanted to believe all these people were going to donate-and then they didn’t. She had faith! Just like Bernie! Didn’t work out well.

Trump has a heavier load because he’s losing minorities. Latinos went for Bush at 30ish percent, if I recall. Trump has 7%. Plus, Latinos are registering in record numbers to vote against Trump. Hopefully that’ll help.

I posted photos of the two boys last month, but now here is the most beautiful cat in the world. Not the sweetest, and one of the smartest. I had just started working for the state about two weeks before he was elected. Things got so screwed up by his growing inability to get along with anyone that about 50 people in my building (including me and a co-worker who’d been with the state for over 30 years) got laid off about 3 1/2 years after I started. A lot of people just got out the popcorn when everything turned into a train wreck, but he caused a lot of government services to go downhill and never recover. The state had to hire outside contractors to do the work that the laid off people had been doing for a long time.

I always skew Rassmussen a couple points left early in the campaign. They ‘refine’ their models to come up with reasonable numbers as the election nears. IIRC, Nate Silver doesn’t dismiss them out of hand, though that might have been before the new management.

The thing about the Rass poll…it has each candidate at 38%. That equals 76%. The rest say they will vote for someone else or stay home. This includes 25% of the Black vote.(I am doubtful)

I expect that will change over time even if those numbers are correct.

That said, I don’t think we can take anything for granted. This election is by no means already determined.

Residents have been finding scorpions in their beds, in their showers, on walls inside and outside their homes and all over their yards. @caitlin_oh photographed this giant desert hairy #scorpion glowing under a #blacklight while on assignment in Scottsdale this month. The glow comes from a substance found inside a hard-and-thin coating on the scorpion’s exoskeleton. Scientists are not sure what purpose it serves. Some say it is to confuse prey; others believe it’s to protect scorpions from sunlight.
