The Trump Virus Spreads to the Official White House Twitter Account

Politics • Views: 47,493

So much bad shit going down these days, it can be hard to keep up. But today feels like another bad milestone on America’s march toward an outright authoritarian government led by crooks and con men.

Because today the official White House Twitter account (which has been fairly straight-ahead business-oriented stuff for the most part) began tweeting the same kind of blatant dishonesty and reckless bigotry that has been the trademark of Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account. And it’s directed at two sitting Senators who just happen to be women, oddly enough.

I feel like we’ve crossed another bright red line and it should be marked. We’re living through bad history with a madman at the helm.

I noticed also that Nielsen, and the DHS account were starting a full-time propaganda campaign about the heroes in ICE who keep America safe, as if what they do is equivalent to serving in the military.

Red lines. The Muslim ban is a Muslim ban.
nybooks.com

So, if Roberts did not close his eyes, he certainly looked away. Two points are especially noteworthy. He did not dispute that the order was anti-Muslim in intent. And he did not affirm that the order was genuinely based on national security concerns: it was enough that it might be “plausible.” That’s a low bar. On this test, it would not have mattered if the president, upon signing the proclamation, had looked up and said, “I’m doing this because we are a Christian country and Muslims are not welcome here.” As long as it’s “plausible” that national security might be at issue, the court gives the president a pass on even the most venomous prejudice.

Justice Sotomayor, joined by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, wrote a blistering dissent. (Justices Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer also dissented, on narrower grounds.) Sotomayor castigated the court for failing to live up to its duty: “Our Constitution demands, and our country deserves, a judiciary willing to hold the coordinate branches to account when they defy our most sacred legal commitments.” The majority “failed in that respect,” she maintained, by “ignoring the facts, misconstruing our legal precedent, and turning a blind eye to the pain and suffering the proclamation inflicts upon countless families and individuals.” She concluded that the president’s proclamation violated the Establishment Clause because it was “contaminated by impermissible discriminatory animus against Islam and its followers.”

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — A group of World War II soldiers from Michigan made a pact when they deployed: Give a bottle of whiskey to the last survivor.

The 126th Infantry Regiment was comprised of men from around southwest Michigan, and its Company C was made up of 94 young men just from Kalamazoo County — all of them under age 20 when they left Kalamazoo for training in 1940.

The promise they made to each other nearly 80 years ago was carried out Sunday.

Fred Spencer, 93, poured a shot of Crown Royal whiskey into a bucket of sand in honor of his deceased comrades. As each name of the deceased was read, one shot was poured into the bucket, which will remain outside the VFW Post 1527, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported.

Spencer was just 16 when he joined the Army, needing his parents’ permission to join the National Guard. Two years later, he was under fire in an offensive against Japanese forces in New Guinea.

Spencer was hospitalized for a year after a sniper sent a bullet through his right lung, exiting through his shoulder blade. He survived the end of the war, unlike fifteen of the men in his company who were killed in action during some of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific theater.

Spencer became the last surviving veteran of his company in April, following the death of 97-year-old Wheeler Bowman.

During the ceremony Sunday, Michigan state Sen. Margaret O’Brien gave Spencer a plaque from the state thanking him for his service. The VFW Post was overflowing with residents who came to shake his hand and pay their respects to the 93 men who died before him.

And he did that in Newark, which is a bit of a rough edge town about 40 miles east of Columbus. That probably pissed off some of the locals once they heard about it.

I’m sure his opponent Mike DeWine will be crying foul and making some mention of liberal bullying, blah, blah. DeWine has nothing original to say about anything, he’s old school Republican snake.

I’ve been reading a lot about Nixon the last couple of weeks. He went behind Johnson’s back before the 1968 election, and directly intervened in the peace talks with the North Vietnamese, promising a better deal if they would hold off until after the election. Johnson knew he did it, and Nixon straight up lied to him on the phone about it. Johnson still did nothing about it because he didn’t want to be seen as interfering in an upcoming election. Sound familiar?

OT: There’s a new Prince album coming out in September that’s just Prince working on and playing songs on his home piano in 1983. One of my very best friends who now lives in San Francisco was Prince’s piano tuner at the time (he got me a backstage pass when Prince played in St. Paul for the Purple Rain tour) so if Prince’s piano is in tune, it’s my friend who’s responsible. I’m thinking this is really pretty cool.

Johnson did nothing about it because doing something about it would have required admitting how he knew (classified surveillance of the foreigners Nixon’s proxies were speaking with).

Just like… Eisenhower knew the “missile gap” was a load of crap, that the Soviets weren’t anywhere near as strong as 1960 candidates tried to suggest. But he only knew that ‘cause of info derived from U-2 overflights, and Ike couldn’t publicly admit that the flights were happening, or that their cameras were as good as they were.

I was thinking about what sparked my political awakening so to speak as I worked out earlier. Two events come to mind. When I was in 8th grade, I read Inherit the Wind and saw a production of it at Fords Theater in D.C. I thought and obviously still do think it was a travesty that someone would be put on trial for teaching Darwin. The second? Well it was two years later in 10th grade. My history teacher was a former Washington Redskins football player but he was a great history teacher because he really taught the modern parts of history and he showed us the movie Cry Freedom with Denzel Washington and Kevin Kline. I thought about Apartheid especially as the credits rolled showing the names of men and women killed in custody by the regime and the last name was in early 1987. I was born in July 1987 and I knew that the Reagan administration supported the regime as a bulwark against Communism. And this was while we were hearing that Reagan was up there as one of the greatest Presidents ever and even the greatest American ever. it just showed me the double standards that Reagan showed. Talk about freedom and liberty when it came to the people of the Eastern Bloc but okay with tyranny for black Africans. Oh and of course the 2000 election and its aftermath inspired me too but those two I would say informed my sense of justice the most.

Anyway home from Kaiser and now I have to keep the left foot elevated thanks to diabetic complications. Second year in a row I had to cancel my Amtrak 4th of July trip…

Kevin Kruse puts up.

Not a single Democrat voted for it? Uh the signature civil rights legislations were sponsored by Democrats and signed by Democrats. Meanwhile the GOP showed how serious they were about the issue when they nominated an opponent of the CRA-1964 with Goldwater and then embraced Nixon’s Southern Strategy. It’s true. The GOP was formed to oppose slavery and its spread which makes its present incarnation all the more pathetic.

121
HappyWarrior  Jul 2, 2018 • 8:25:16pm

Wow Kevin is amazing. But yeah there’s a ton of them. And you know who made it acceptable for Southern white Democrats to become Republicans? Not Nixon though he encouraged the voting for Republicans, Reagan. And it won’t surprise me if Trump ends up being the same for many Rust Belt white Democrats.

122
HappyWarrior  Jul 2, 2018 • 8:28:01pm

I’m fine with giving credit to pro civil rights Republicans. Nelson Rockefeller, John Lindsay, and hell even pre Southern Strategy Richard Nixon,, and others but the fact is the party ceased to see Civil Rights as a serious issue the minute they nominated Goldwater. And the African-American vote bears fruit for that. I think the only Republican presidential nominee who actively supported CRA-1964 was Ford. Reagan opposed as a candidate for Governor and Bush Sr did too. That’s another similarity Reagan has with Trump. An actual elitist ass convincing poor whites he’s one of them through their shared resentment of PoC.

I will take the civil rights record the past 50 years of the Democratic Party over any party in this country when it comes to not just positions but legislation passed. All the Republicans have at this point is “Hey we were Abraham Lincoln’s party.” Yes you were and now you’re Corey Stewart’s party and Donald Trump’s.

Bernie won in those states and other even more red ones because of white racism against Hillary’s core black supporters and the perception that she would’ve continued Obama’s legacy. Bernie wasn’t ever going to win places like Kansas, Indiana, Nebraska or Idaho in a general election and could easily have done far worse in many of the states she lists. I don’t think she’s far left, but I do think that like many on the far left she’s probably prone towards a revisionist view of 2016 that places all blame on Hillary while dismissing Bernie’s responsibility for the harm he irresponsibly inflicted in furtherance of his own ego after the primary nomination was locked up.

(Yes, yes, I know. He voted for Trump -_- However, the reason he’s winning in blood-red West Virginia as a Democrat is because of his pro-union stance (which helped Connor Lamb, as well). So it’s just downright dumb to dismiss pro-worker positions as something only progressives in deep-blue districts can pull off).

The problem I have is the Dem establishment is framed as hostile towards the working class which I’m sorry is bullshit and something Sanders needs to own for lying about. The party is far more inclusive and yes liberal than it’s ever been. A Dem moderate today is yesterday’s liberal. A lot of what Sanders attacks as corporate donations are in fact people at those corporations supporting Dems and I’d rather have white collar people who share our message of inclusion for all Americans then blue collars whites who are uncomfortable with that. If you’re blue collar and cool with LGBT rights, immigrant rights, etc, then welcome but if you want special and fetishized treatment because you’re a working class white dude and want those groups to get ignored, nope.

She also cozied up to Tulsi.

I’m not saying Ocasio should have stiff-armed Tulsi’s tweet but she needs to realize that A.) Her win was an extreme outlier and is getting all this attention precisely because socialists have NOT been winning many primaries this year, and B.) these particular allies are divisive and self-serving mendacious fuckers who did nothing to support her candidacy and undermine Democrats at almost every opportunity. Bernie didn’t endorse her, Tulsi didn’t endorse her, these assholes are just hitching their wagons to her now because she won and by beating a high ranking incumbent and being one of the only socialists to win instantly became a national story. Fuck, her opponent in the primary, the Democratic primary Rep she defeated, has already done far more to boost her not only by immediately conceding (in contrast to how Bernie refused to concede to Hillary for months) but by praising her and pledging to do everything in his power to support her campaign.

Agree, Duckworth should’ve dodged that one or just said something more vague like “Democrats have core principles that we won’t compromise on but will also pragmatically tailor candidates to their constituencies to advance progress wherever progress can be made. That means we’re always fighting to get the most progressive candidate capable of winning into office.”

That makes more sense when you are actual counsel for the party you are going out of your way to defend for free (presumably).
He also went a little batty before Trump iirc.
I believe he understands very well about old and new crimes and that’s still separate from him relegating all of his constitutional law knowledge to the gutter.

I look back on when I used to respect his legal mind and voice and am amazed at where we’re at now.

Ocasio really doesn’t understand that her victory was solely because of extremely low turnout in the district; the voters assumed Crowley would win and didn’t turn out. It was fortunate that she is poised, intelligent, and already a skilled politician, though naive. But this could have equally happened with a candidate whose views were totally antithetical to Democratic ideology.

I don’t have a problem with her positions; I thought she handled her weekend interviews well, but JFC, she got 16,000 votes in a primary—she didn’t win the presidency (although there are koskids already lamenting that she’s too young to run for president.) I’m happy for her and I hope she does well, but ENOUGH ALREADY with the media frenzy. She won a primary—good for her, and good for us if it gets people excited about voting, but I don’t think it’s the earth-shattering intergallactic event they’re making of it.

And speaking of primaries—our losing primary House candidate, who came in second in the main primary 40/29 and lost the runoff 51.4 to 48.6 sent out a letter tonight (don’t think he’s technically conceded yet—sigh) saying, “We fought the establishment Democrats and opportunistic Republicans, to essentially a draw.” Uh, sorry pal, you LOST. I feel like there are a lot of places where what you have to lose is any realistic shot at winning. Like I’m pretty sure that knowing how trash Simi Valley is that if Katie Hill was running as an avowed socialist that she’d have no chance whatsoever of defeating Steve Knight.

I think you miss my point. If she tries to run against him as a slightly better alternative to him on the Left, she’ll lose. She needs to stomp on his face as a *real* alternative to his cloaked fascism. It’s time to call these people out for what they are.

Huh? All I have heard and seen so far is Ocasio-Cortez insisting that she IS a Democrat and SUPPORTS Democrats. So what’s your problem?

I supported Sanders. Then I supported Clinton. I’m a DSA member.

OOONoez!! I’m trying to rodent copulate an election to a village board to screw the Democrats!!!!

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t done a damn thing to upset the Democratic Party, other than defeat her primary opponent (something that’s never happened in the history of elections, apparently), who enthusiastically endorsed her immediately afterwards.

She’s not running for President, she’s running to represent her district. The voters in her district chose her over her opponent to represent them.

I imagine she is going to continue to do the very things that got her the nomination: engage her local voters, speak to issues that matter to them, &c. She isn’t going to talk about ranching in Nebraska or his win in the primary here: That has absolutely nothing to do with The Bronx or her potential constituents.

re: #130 goddamnedfrank

I don’t object to her positions but I really hope she stops pulling shit like this.

I can’t say about other states. I can say Dems in this state voted for Hillary Clinton after the state went for Bernie Sanders.

You’re right, Bernie Sanders wasn’t likely to win here. Neither was any other candidate without an (R) after their name. Democratic support (in my county at least) for Sanders wasn’t about racism.

I could equally assert that Sanders won here because he campaigned here. Clinton didn’t. Since the press covered neither candidate here (because not-R), Sanders brought his message here.

I don’t know. I think she has a real good point. If you are running against a Republican and you base your campaign on running as a Republican light, you are going to lose every time.

Just get in there and call them out for the assholes that they are, and for the policies that fuck the average voter right up the ass.

Why not? What have you got to lose? The tweaking of the status quo ante is just a loser of a campaign policy when what is needed is fundamental change.

America, 2018:

A campaign to blitz the country with ‘In God We Trust’ laws takes root

As the summer heat waxes and state legislative sessions wane, the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation has scored a few small but significant victories.

This year, five state legislatures passed laws mandating that every public school prominently display the U.S. motto, “In God We Trust.” The addition of Arkansas, which passed such a law in 2017, brings to six the number of states with public school mandates, including Alabama, Florida, Arizona, Louisiana and Tennessee.

Those laws, mostly sponsored by legislative prayer caucuses in about 30 states, were inspired by the foundation’s 2017 manual known as Project Blitz, a 116-page guide for state legislators listing 20 model bills of which “In God We Trust” is the first.

[…]

This is of course an attempt at theocracy.

The old worldview does not go quietly into the night. It will fight, and kill if necessary, to survive.

Poland’s borders have shifted quite a bit over the centuries … according to the Polish Heritage Center here, it is very difficult to get documentation if you are trying to do family research before WW2.

If the Alaska Hotel and Bar doesn’t work out I’d recommend Grandma’s Feather Bed. The Alaska Hotel and Bar is in the middle of downtown while Grandma’s is out in the valley.

My wife says “thanks” and is looking up Grandma’s Feather Bed now.

Grandma’s is about twice as much … plus my wife says there’s always the charm of staying in a hotel that was once billed as a brothel (the one downtown).

Now that the Thai football squad has been found safe and mostly sound in that cave, rescuers have to decide how to get them out.

khaosodenglish.com

The boys and their coach were in good health, aside from some minor scrapes or bruises. British divers were the first to find them.

One plan is to keep them in the cave until it’s safe to extract them. There is no dry escape route now.

Dear Mother,

Our Liberal forces have just liberated Andersonville Prison Camp, and the state of the detainees there is horrific: they have been fed on nothing but a steady diet of Pringles, Twinkies, Oreos and cheeseburgers and most of them are too fat and bloated to make it out the gate on their way home.

She’s going to give a call to the Alaska Hotel and Bar this morning when they are open to find out what’s what. If for some reason that doesn’t work out (full, too expensive, something else), she has a list of other hotels and motels in the area.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) defense that it is not a focus of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign does not hold water, McClatchy reported on Monday.

The NRA has claimed that they have yet to hear from the FBI about the investigation.

McClatchy’s legal experts say that is because Mueller’s investigators did not need the NRA’s cooperation to identify any potential Russian funding of the group’s record financial backing of the Trump campaign.

It is illegal to spend foreign money to influence an American election.

The Federal Election Commission does not require that the NRA disclose the source of it’s “dark money” contributors, but the group was required to provide that information to the Internal Revenue Service.

I would like to think the NRA is in deep doo-doo here, but we’ll have to see.

Citizens United does have some loopholes, I see.

And we need to find out the extent of involvement with foreign governments and figures on the part of the NRA - and the entire Trump administration, family and business organization.

Nothing wrong with “ain’t”. It just means “am not”. There used to be “amn’t”, too.

My Dearest Brother,

I’m writing you from what the enemy calls Real America. Yesterday we passed through something called a Chick-fil-a. It’s nothing like the organic chicken eateries we have. One of the fellows tried chicken between bread. He was amazed because all the enemy prisoners have insisted, it’s the best chicken ever. I tried some and I was underwhelmed. Real America is a strange place. The flags and patriotism everywhere nearly triggered me at first but I have carried on and marched for cultural Marxism and our leader, George Alinsky Soros. But Rules for Radicals only prepares a man so hard. It is hard to fight an enemy with no firearms but still they fear us. My term of enlistment ends soon and I look forward to returning to returning home to be permanently dependent on government and an elite forever. I am forever your gender non conforming and god hating sibling.

Dear Democrats:

Policing your left flank on “Abolish ICE” is a sucker’s game.

Instead, make this about Trump’s cruelty and incompetence.

Trump is presiding over an immense moral and logistical disaster. You can win that argument.

Dear Greg Sergeant,

ICE’s cruelty is exactly about Trump’s cruelty and incompetence. His moral disaster is encapsulated in what ICE is doing along with his graft, and his logistics disaster is shown in many things.

The Democrats aren’t ignoring any of them, and are busy hanging all of that not just on Trump, but the whole GOP.

Precisely. Joe Manchin or Heidi Heitkamp wouldn’t get past a primary in Massachusetts, New York, or California.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is running to win NY-14, not NE-3.

For all the bashing Sen. Manchin or Sen. Heitkamp get, they seem to be liked by their states. I guarantee you if those two weren’t in the Senate from ND or WVa, then it would be a wingnut GOPer.

In my state Jane Raybould is running to unseat Trump-supporting Sen. Deb Fischer. For Nebraska politicians she is a leftie, but in blue states she would not be considered so I imagine.

That said, should she win she would move our state further left than our two current senators. As much as a lot of liberals seem to hate incrementalism, it seems to work better to change minds than a sudden radical shift.

This is that same false choice that people who keep saying run for something other than against Trump. Similarly, ICE represents the cruelty and unlawfulness of Trump’s immigration policies. Verizon’s new military discount could save you $40 a month (Military Times)

Service members, veterans and Gold Star family members are eligible to save up to $40 a month on their cellphone plans under a military discount program launched last week by Verizon.

The deal offers $15 off the regular monthly price of one phone line, $30 off two lines and $40 off three lines under any of Verizon’s three “unlimited” plans. Those plans start at $40 a month, per line.

Eligible customers also can receive a $200 gift card when they activate a new 4G LTE smartphone on a new line. The deal can be used more than once; a military family of four can get $800 for opening a four-line plan with four new phones, for instance.

Verizon also will offer a 15 percent discount to military members, veterans and military families on other phone plans, as well as discounts up to 25 percent on some accessories purchased via the company’s My Verizon portal.

(more, with additional benefits, and details on how to sign up for the programme)

so the theory is that the Russians blackmailed the RNC into accepting Trump?

My theory is that the Russians started by grooming and recruiting Trump.

And they took the kompromat they gathered on Republicans over the course of the campaign hacking incidents (remember, the RNC was hacked, too) and gave it all to Trump - who is hanging it over their heads.

That said, there is a certain level of complicity between the Fundie/Dominionist wing and the Russians. But I think that many Rs are going along with this shit because they don’t want to be ruined by whatever Trump’s got on them.

Dear Alex,
The push into Austin was met with little resistance until we entered the city. Then, it was a battle from block to block. We kept losing soldiers. Sometimes one, sometimes two, and sometimes an entire regiment would get separated from us by one of those damn trucks. The pork, the chicken, the beef. I’m afraid I might succumb before this is over.

Just returned from lowering the flags in the village. Thanks for mentioning it.

The fellow who lives next to the flagstaff in the park was out in his yard when I lowered the flag. He asked me what it was for, so I told him.

The nasty little bug gets its name from its food of choice, tarantulas. It’s hard to imagine something the size of a wasp hunting one of the largest spiders.

The sting from a Tarantula Hawk is so painful that the recommended treatment by biologist Justin O. Schmidt is to simply “lie down and scream.” Thankfully, the creature doesn’t come in contact with humans too often, though they are common in the southern United States. They generally only sting when provoked, and the pain, while crippling, subsides rather quickly.

In 1996, a public poll was held in Canada to suggest new names for the Northwest Territories. The most popular choice was to retain the name the territory already had; the second most popular choice was to rename it ‘Bob’.

Carrying on a great tradition. As everyone knows, the early settlers couldn’t decide on a name for their country, so they decided the fair thing would be to pick the letters randomly from a hat.

And so it was. “First letter…’C’. Ay?” “Second letter…’N’, Ay?” “Third letter…’D’, Ay?”

He’s a moron.

Nope. I didn’t miss that….

But btw, Aaron Rupar seems to have got something wrong too, IIRC, the Harley-Davidson flap isn’t that they’re “mov[ing] to Europe”, but that they were planning to set up production in (?) Thailand for export TO Europe: to beat the retaliatory tariffs put on direct exports from the US - “retaliatory” thanks to Trump’s trade war.

But yeah, the whole H-D thing seems to have been fueled by their making Trump look like a Chump. All too easy a task…

Not necessarily into accepting Trump but in going along with Trump’s bizarre and damaging policies. No matter what Trump does, they play along and vote in lockstep. I interpret their behavior to mean that whatever was hacked by the Russians is being held over their heads by Trump and his minions.

I don’t think you need to infer this. They go along with Trump because they’re afraid of being primaried. Also too, they are too ignorant of anything outside their own mudpile to recognize how damaging it all is — and protectionism and reducing American involvement with all those furriners have been Repug talking points for years.

Well, that should rival the Atlas Shrugged series for its unparalleled box office success. Snerk.

The trilogy received predominantly negative critical reviews and the aggregate USA box office is just under $9 million (revenues do not include video and television).

The first film, directed by Paul Johansson, stars Taylor Schilling, Grant Bowler, Matthew Marsden, Johansson, Graham Beckel and Jsu Garcia was released in April 2011 and had a USA box office of $4.5 million on a budget of under $20 million. Most of the marketing was done online.

The second film, directed by John Putch, stars Samantha Mathis, Jason Beghe, Patrick Fabian, D.B. Sweeney and Esai Morales, and had a USA box office of $3.3 million on a budget of under $10 million.

The third film, directed by J. James Manera, stars Laura Regan, Rob Morrow, Greg Germann, Kristoffer Polaha, Lew Temple and Joaquim de Almeida, and had a USA box office of less than $1 million on a budget of under $5 million.

Also - no Scott Baio? LOL

I would counter that birth control is a form of personal responsibility. It’s like sending someone into the darkness without a flash light or map and then getting mad at them for getting lost.

My favorite was trying to get access to a java programming language document at the University of Vermont at Manchester while working on a government computer. I got a sudden “This site not permitted” in big red letters.

Turned out the group storing the document was the Java User Group aka ‘JUG’. And some wit there had gotten the url manjug . org (I assume that the site has long since gone away.)

Never did like the other Republican presidents of my lifetime but they weren’t into bullying businesses that ruined their fake macho bullshit.

I’m sure they’re going to line up when they know that it only takes one action by Trump to ruin any incentive he might have given them. Especially since he has no clue how the economy is hooked together.

re: #237 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

In Old English “kerl” meant “servant”.

Funny, because in German, “Kerl” has become masculine (pretty much the equivalent of “guy”) while “girl” has become feminized. Like girly men…

I always assumed that “Karl” originally meant free man (non-serf).

My favorite thing is seeing right wing memes and how much projecting goes into them. It’s almost like satire, it’s that bad.

Happy I have 40+ years in Civil Service and this is how I grade my bosses:

Ford-C+ (He wouldn’t cancel the “Stay In School” program that allowed me to work in a Social Security office during a summer while I was in college)
Carter-C- (Because 1) he signed the Civil Service Reform act that started the decline of Civl Service 2) He signed the Disability Reform act that allowed Reagan to purge people from the disability rolls)
Reagan-F- (Ordered people purged from Disability rolls, led to a high number of suicides, Cut civil service COLA and benefits and forced new hires into an inadequate retirement scheme. Forced us to pay Medicare tax. Cut SSA staffing by 40%. Froze our pay multiple years. Appointed most incompetent Commissioner Dorcas Hardy who purged competent people from the agency. Hardy was forced out after she was caught allowing credit bureaus access to SSA earning records. Cut health benefits. Contracted with MCI for third rate phone system)
Old Man Bush-C (Instituted locality pay and promised Federal employees would reach pay equity in 10 years but he failed to implement that and continually limited raises.)
Bill Clinton-B+ (Established SSA as Independent Agency. Fired Republican hacks and replaced them with competent people such as Bill Halder. Insisted on Management working with Unions. Ordered reevaluation of position duties which upgraded classifications for employees. Instituted dental and eyeglass insurance)
Dumbya-F (Removed Clinton’s competent upper management and reinstated the previous Republican hacks, cut civil service pension benefits, cut health benefits, contracted work out to private companies that continually leaked confidential information)
Obama-C- (Eliminated using locality pay to calculate retirement benefits, Froze pay 3 years in a row, cut integrity review funding, closed offices, dramatically increased contracting out work which led to several massive data links, closed local offices, pushed people to contact agency on the internet)
Trump-F (Mandating a 25% staff cut. Openly supports shutting down SSA offices and contracting out to H&R Block)
