In Which Donald Trump Praises the US Military for “Taking Over the Airports” … In the War of 1812
I thought I heard him say this, but I was trying to do something much more important, and was only half-listening at the time.
So I asked around on Twitter and yeah, he really said it. Who knows if he misread a word, or if that was actually on the teleprompter, or if he was going off script into lala land as he is wont to do, but he said it.
It’s another of those moments that reveals how deeply ignorant and unprepared Trump is for the office he’s squatting in.
As @kendallybrown points out, Trump, while struggling to read in this clip, claims that the American military “took over the airports” during a battle that took place well before airplanes were even invented pic.twitter.com/DiJDLWcDYb

Apparently Donald Trump needs a teleprompter to let him know there were no airports in the 19th century.
Trump on the South Lawn — when asked why he said in his July 4th speech that the Revolutionary Army “took over airports” — blames a faulty Teleprompter and says it’s “hard to read in the rain”
