After the acclaimed release of “7 And 7 Is”, the first song revealed from their upcoming album “Turning To Crime”, Deep Purple release their brand new single “Oh Well” today.

“Oh Well” is a song originally written and recorded by Fleetwood Mac. It is accompanied by a music video that shows Deep Purple on a very special mission.

Label and management would like to state that nobody from the band or crew, nor members of the media, were hurt during the shooting of the video in Germany in early October.

“Everyone knows ‘Oh Well’ is a great song,” Roger Glover says. “Steve did the demo for that one. You never quite know where it‘s gonna go with Steve because he is very inventive. Right up until the point, with a couple of verses in, it was pretty much the same as the original. And then, all of a sudden, it took off like a rocket… in some other space.”

“Turning to Crime” is the first studio album by Deep Purple entirely made of songs not written by the band and previously recorded by other artists. It is produced by Bob Ezrin and will be released on earMUSIC on November 26, 2021.

Cool! Another “what was old is again new” song that I had not heard in a while.

For a minute there I was wondering if the posting was about Blackmore’s Night.

Christie will never be President; Cruz will never be President; and IMHO, DeathSantis will never be President either. A lot can and will happen between now and 2024, but nothing that will result in any of these reprobates gaining the top office.

It’s just like this news that’s getting no air whatsoever:

Welcome to 2009 all over again, where the media front-loaded all the negative stories about the “Obama economy” so that when things began recovering in earnest by the following year, the damage to his poll numbers had been done and Dems were afraid to be seen as supporting him or his “failed agenda.”

Meanwhile, here in VA gas prices have begun to slowly start receding. I’ve noticed a $0.05 drop in the last two days. Not dramatic difference, but enough that if the trend continues, prices will be back below $3 by the middle of next month.

It won’t matter: Biden is still not building more pipelines, handing over more public lands and offshore sites for drilling/mining and has not gotten rid of all those pesky, intrusive and costly gummint health, safety and environmental regulations that would make life SO MUCH EASIER for rural Americans: the only Americans that really count.

Prices will come down, but it’ll be slow enough that the legacy media will come up with excuses for why it has nothing to do with the WH, that while Biden’s policies allegedly have caused prices to spike nothing he has done or will do can allow him to take credit for prices falling. So that, by this time next year, we’ll be back to below $3/gal but it will treated as not worthy of comment by the media.

No one should be surprised at this:

US auctions off oil and gas drilling leases in Gulf of Mexico after climate talks

Biden administration launching auction of more than 80m acres for fossil fuel extraction that experts call ‘incredibly reckless’.

Critics say a worrying pattern has emerged during Biden’s tenure, with his administration handing out drilling permits at a rate of more than 300 a day since his inauguration, a faster pace even than under Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Faux has spent weeks screaming bloody murder that Biden is about to cause the price of oil to explode by shutting down a pipeline that nobody outside of Michigan heard of before this year, a pipeline which they insist is a major source of oil products to the US when in reality it runs under the Great Lakes to deliver oil from Alberta to Ontario with a tiny fraction of the oil pumped daily actually ending up in Michigan.

Wealth and prosperity are measured in the amount of resources we consume, not the quality of life we generate from them.

I am reminded of the days when the USSR would proudly announce annual increases in its output of electronics: as measured in tons.

Rep. Gosar on his sick-ass anime:

“the cartoon depicts the symbolic nature of a battle between lawful and unlawful policies and in no way intended to be a targeted attack against Representative Cortez or Mr Biden.”

So “Punch a Nazi” simply refers to the symbolic nature of a battle between humanity and an ideology that actively embraces and extols violence and killing, right?

Thanks for the nightmares:

Chrissy Teigen is once again rubbing people the wrong way thanks to a recent “Squid Game” party called “tone-deaf” by keyboard critics.

The “Cravings” author, 35, and her husband John Legend, 42, threw a pricey party over the weekend based on the acclaimed South Korean Netflix show, which centers around people in extreme financial debt risking their lives in a series of dangerous challenges.

The famous couple enlisted the help of party planners Wife of the Party to construct the event, People magazine reported, and transform the couple’s California home to look like the show’s set.

The event featured a maze staircase, bunk beds and large piggy banks stuffed with cash. Teigen also shared snaps from the party on social media that also featured an array of “Squid Game” costumes.

Those bastards!

A new dessert is coming to the table this Thanksgiving — only it’s not entirely new.

The dessert is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but super-sized. Parent company Hershey’s debuted the Reese’s Thanksgiving Pie on Monday, and it sold out within hours.

The pie measures 9 inches in diameter and weighs 3.25 pounds, according to the Hershey’s press release. This makes it the largest Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup ever listed for sale.

“When you bring together friends and family for Thanksgiving dinner, no table spread is complete without dessert,” said Bo Jones, senior associate brand manager at Reese’s, in the release. “At Reese’s, we wanted to create a dessert that everyone wants a piece of.”

You are welcome

Leases that will not result in any new oil or gas entering the supply chain because it’ll take years before any exploration and development can occur, and the prices have to be supportive of said development before these companies would even begin to exploit the leases.

But GOPers will claim Biden is harming the economy and causing high oil prices.

We wouldn’t have high oil prices if we moved faster to alt energy sources and built out a sustainable power grid with battery backups.

In a letter to South Dakota Secretary of Labor Marcia Hultman, which has been obtained by The Associated Press, Noem’s daughter Kassidy Peters criticized a legislative inquiry into her application and the news reports detailing the situation. According to U.S. News, lawmakers were focused on the timeline of the Republican governor’s meeting with her daughter and top officials within the government agency; the same decision-makers who played a role in denying Peters’ application days earlier.

“I am writing you today to express my disappointment and anger that my good name and professional reputation continue to be damaged by questions and misinformation concerning the Appraiser Certification Program,” Peters wrote to Hultman in the letter.

She also agreed to surrender her appraiser’s license by the end of the year. “I’m angry and I can acknowledge that this has successfully destroyed my business,” she added.

Happy birthday to my wife!

Pissing contest underway between Amazon and Visa.

This does not affect Visa debit cards, nor other cards they accept.

It does affect US customers who attempt to purchase though Amazon UK.

This argument from Amazon is similar to the claims made by our local businesses in the Nebraska Panhandle when they all started rejecting credit cards (not just Visa).

Visa and Mastercard tend to charge merchants between 1.5% and 2.5% to accept their credit cards, whereas American Express charges between 2.5% to 3.5%.

bankrate.com

Amazon UK will continue to accept American Express, so they are mad at Visa for some reason.

Lots of legal action this week as we will see if our justice system can handle the rise of violent fascism in the U.S. A conviction of Rittenhousen, the killers of Ahmaud Arbery, and a long prison sentence for the symbolic leader of the insurrection would be helpful. Acquittals or wrist slaps would let the fascists know that America’s streets are their hunting grounds.

LOL indeed.

I did a quick Google on that law firm, and I see that they are HQd in Bedminster, NJ, so obviously one of Trump’s (or his golf club’s) local hires. My guess is that they were probably OK with filing this idiot threat for Trump, but that it’s not going to go anywhere (legally: I’m sure TFG will keep milking this nonsense for clicks and grift: what else would we expect?). Hopefully, they got paid up front.

PS: Checking the Habba Madaio practice’s Google listing came up with this gem:

Located in: Advance Reality At Bedminster

If they’re working for Trump, I would have thought “Alternative Reality” would be a better address….

PPS: It’s actually “Advance Realty”, but I like the typo better.

The New Media Reality

Biden is a victim of it.

They had a President who gave them a 24/7 political/crime/scandal/family drama Reality TV show, complete with a semi-coherent morning Twittstorm, boasting speeches at pep rallies, former associates being charged, tried and convicted of a range of crimes from embezzlement to compromising US intelligence and security, foreign leaders being embarrassed or humiliated, etc.

Always something new and fascinating.

Now they just have a boring old fellow who just gets things done, loves his wife, will not let his troubled, drug-addled criminal son run anything in the White House and is generally suited for the job in terms of temperament and experience.

Which is why the media want him out. He is killing ratings.

Chansley’s attempt at self-justification is just another version of something we see again and again from Trumpists:

They’re the victims and therefore must be understood and forgiven; other people deserve all the cruelty they’re getting. The real injustice is failing to distinguish between the two groups.

As somebody who pays a lot of attention to prison reform issues, watching law-and-order Trumpist types tear their shirts about solitary and poor conditions has been instructive.

I’ve been to two different Kroger stores this week. Husband has a wicked case of the flu and a tummy virus so I was in search of various medicines and BRAT diet ingredients and stuff to make homemade chicken and rice soup. I also bought a turkey breast and a couple of ingredients for thanksgiving dinner. There were tons of turkeys, a bit more expensive than last year, but not ridiculous. The only items the stores seemed to be short on were some bakery products, smaller jars of peanut butter and I am having a hell of a time finding whole wheat pasta besides spaghetti, rotini and penne, for well over a year now. I need fettuccine, lasagna and elbow macaroni. I can get them from Amazon but the prices are sometimes jacked up on those. I also couldn’t find much lettuce in the produce department. Beyond that, things have been fairly stable at the stores I shop at. I also remember hearing or reading somewhere this week that Walmart’s CEO has said their shipping and merchandise levels were 11 percent higher than in years past.

And there’s now substantial evidence that the sole reason that ivermectin appears to have helped in India is that India has an endemic problem with parasitic infections, and if you fight those infections, your chances of surviving covid19 goes up.

If you’re dealing with a parasite and get covid, your chances of dying goes way up - and it did. Indian govt has been downplaying the severity of the pandemic and has had lax reporting and testing, and likely undercounted the death toll from covid19 by a factor of 10.

But countries that have very few parasitic infections will see no benefit and more harm by using ivermectin in any way/shape/form.

And it also figures that SMOTI is peddling BS claims about ivermectin and India too.

Nonono, you don’t understand. The grocery store Mrs. Fish orders her groceries from was out of Nutella. NUTELLA, do you understand me?! This is a national tragedy of unbelievable proportions! The country is LITERALLY coming to an end!

I went to Meijer today and they were all out of *checks shopping list* Gevalia “Royal Dark Roast” K-cups. I had to buy “Majestic Roast” instead.

About two hours into deliberations on the second day, jurors asked to view video presented at the trial and the judge said he would determine the procedures to allow that.
Prosecutor Thomas Binger said they should be able to view any video they wanted as many times as they wanted, while defense attorney Mark Richards said he would object to the jury viewing video taken by a drone that prosecutors said showed Rittenhouse pointing his gun at protesters before the shootings.

We are going to see that soon enough. All it will take is some major natural and/or man-made disaster (probably some combination of the two like we had in New Orleans) that leads to a breakdown in public order and utilities, and things will start to look like Somalia within 48 hours.

Civilization is only three warm meals away from chaos, and for those Meal Team Six honchos, that interval is no more than 12 hours…

re: #172 A Mom Anon

Also, our media sucks. At pretty much everything related to fact based reporting.

I was just there. There are turkeys, but only the .79/lb Jennie-o types, pretty normal for the week before Tgiving. Full shelf of Nutella at 2 for $6 for 13oz jar. I took a look at ribs and holy cow. Last time I made them in the summer it was $2.79/lb. Today for the same brand it’s $5.99. I didn’t check beef. I should have, though, because we’re thinking of having that for Tgiving rather than turkey.

If you get chance to go out to the Black Hills, I’d urge you to do so. There’s some seriously desolate beauty out there in the Badlands and the Black Hills are just beautiful. It’s really easy to learn about the history of the region, but there are a few overlooked places that should get more recognition and respect: Wounded Knee, which has a large metal plaque to commemorate that massacre of Native Americans, Buffalo Vale, which is where Native Americans would trap bison for sustenance, and Crazy Horse monument, which honors the famous Native American leader and which will be far larger than the more well known Mt. Rushmore.

We have a nice, big chicken from a local farmer that will be our T’Giving dinner. All the kids will be elsewhere that day and probably no one will be stopping in for any amount of time. So just the wife and I pretty much. Will mean a large pot of chicken soup after TG day. And probably some chicken tacos also, I love them.

This should be the baseline on which all others are sentenced. I get the concerns about this particular guy’s mental health, but 41 months for storming the Capitol and trying to overthrow the government is just the other side of a slap on the wrist.

We’ve gotten far too many sentences (and charges) that result in no prison time and time served when they engaged in multiple federal felonies.

We’re also still not in the prosecuting leaders phase of things - and none of the Trumpworld figures who incited and plotted this coup have been indicted. So far.

Why is there a shortage of turkeys, particularly of larger sizes?

Because growers had to figure out how big to grow turkeys - not know what sizes would be useful given covid19 uncertainties, and then the slaughterhouses and processors needed to be staffed sufficiently to handle them. That’s been a challenge, given that some of the worst covid19 outbreaks were in slaughterhouses.
