Video: Four Minutes Of Religious Hatred

The ‘best’ of Bryan Fischer
Religion • Views: 41,296

Bryan Fischer is connected to many top GOP politicians. Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, Haley Barbour, and Newt Gingrich have all appeared on his webcast. And the organization he represents, the American Family Association, is one of the main sponsors for Texas Governor Rick Perry’s upcoming fundamentalist prayer rally.

He needs no other introduction.

Fischer is a failure of a human being on so many levels.

"Homosexuals can't reproduce, they have to recruit."

Technically, Christians can't reproduce either, but I think more evidence is available saying that someone might be born genetically predisposed to homosexuality than being genetically predisposed to Christianity.

I fully believe that Fischer probably has a stash of hard core gay porn which he considers "research" so he can see proof of just how "depraved" gay men are.

By controlling the secular definition of marriage -- arguably the most important social contract in our society -- these people have always had a way to directly dictate fundamental issues in society in what can viewed as a complete violation of church/state separation.

That's what's really going on here. They've chosen to draw a line in the sand on the definition, but it's not about homosexuality, or marriage, or family, or children, or morality. It's about secular society telling religion that it doesn't get to dictate the definition of a legal or social institution anymore, and probably never should have in the first place.

To those who have tied their personal or political fortunes to the secular power of the church, it's deeply threatening on a level that goes beyond arguments about gay marriage itself, and strikes straight to the core of their relevance in an increasingly secular society. It would be a devastating precedent.

Libya: Barack Obama 'overruled top legal advice'

Barack Obama overruled the advice of administration lawyers in deciding the US could continue participating in the Libya conflict without congressional approval, The New York Times reports.

The White House insists the president did not need congressional approval to authorise US support for Nato's mission, because the military campaign is limited in scope.

Critics argue the action violates a Vietnam War-era law limiting military action without congressional approval to 60 days...

Yeah, I've read the actual text of the War Powers Act. And, contrary to the prevailing BS, there's nothing in there that says the president must seek authorization. Not that it matters, as the GOP really has two options after Sunday: impeach Obama or censure him. And both will require options will require them to make a case against rushing off into an unpopular war for bullshit reasons.

That works. Myself I would prefer if the USA started minding it's own business and stopped playing World Policeman and concentrated on itself. But that's just a dream at this point considering how we've cemented this secular Super Hero complex into the American psyche since WWII and as bolstered by the military-industrial complex as delineated by Eisenhower.

I can see that but there are situations where without the help of the U.S. military neither NATO or the UN can really accomplish anything. In this instance, without our involvement, there wouldn't be any military pressure on Libya.

Even though I think it's unconstitutional, I actually think the War Powers Act is a decent attempt at a compromise between the Presidency and the Legislature. My main beef with it is if they want it to be codified then make it part of the constitution. That way there isn't any question what their roles are in a conflict like this.

I don't think the majority is trying to get it shut down, it's a turf war between the branches.

Yeah, but at the same time, those weasel words are aimed at keeping the War Powers Act intact. Obama doesn't want to simply drop our operations in Libya while Col. Mo still draws breath, but he doesn't want a return to the days when presidents could wage war with impunity, when the only obstacle was public support.

Do cops in Texas just automatically believe every tip some asshole calls in?

False accusation led to raid on home, 22 stitches
[Link: www.chron.com...]

Brandwynne "Brandie" Prespentt finished work at 3 p.m. June 10 and ran some errands. On the other side of town, a dog assigned to a Precinct 4 constable's deputy was attacking her husband, Travis.

The incident, which led to an arm injury requiring 22 stitches, was the climax of a bizarre sequence of events that began when the couple's neighbor, Tamara Denise Whiteside, phoned in a false report accusing Travis Prespentt of pistol-whipping and strangling his wife and dumping her in the back of his car.

Semi-funny part:

As the dog chewed on Prespentt's arm, he said, the officers demanded to know where "the female" was.

Prespentt, assuming they meant his dog, first tried to tell them that she was in a cage on the porch. Then he realized they were looking for his wife, and shouted that she was at the grocery store.

Something they couldn't do if they had voted to give him permission to bomb libya back into the dark ages. He had them in a tough spot and let them up, they would have had to vote to give him permission or else they would have looked weak.

That's because at the beginning of this, it was the GOP grabbing every news camera they could and bloviating about our need to be in Libya yesterday and how a "real" leader wouldn't be waiting on approval to do so.

After that, it was bitching and moaning on TV that Obama's failure to listen to them and act swiftly is why the rebels were still bass-ackwards and why Col. Mo had not yet assumed room temperature. At the time, the only person making noises over a failure to get Congressional approval was Dennis Kucinich.

Of course, now the GOP are making a fuss over Congressional approval because they've got Obama in a bind, either forced to seek said approval and being labeled a "war president," ending operations and being accused of "retreating," or facing potential censure/impeachment.

Heh. Our city jail guys are allowed to wear civilian clothes on work-release. The county makes them wear orange, and it's common to see them unguarded in the area of the courthouse. The county north of us makes our trusty volunteers wear the old broad black/white stripes. Without the clothing it's hard to tell when our roofers are free or work-release. We've had guys work with us to get out of the cells for a while, then continue to volunteer after they are paroled. (On the other hand, our jails have a couple guys who should be welded permanently to the bars.) Telling the difference is a tough art for the officials.

On the internets, everyone has a penis.

On the internets, average human penis size is 8". Not 7.9" or 8.1", but 8".

Also on the internets, everyone goes skydiving every other weekend (if they're not busy traveling all throughout Europe, Japan, and Australia). Everyone has developed and sold numerous successful marketing and/or "communications" businesses, and they live in a large seaside house with an open floorplan. Everyone on the internets is usually found lounging around barefoot wearing white linen slacks and a pastel t-shirt, as the ocean breeze ruffles their thick head of hair. The dynamic musical stylings of David Sanborn decorate the atmosphere around them at all times.

On the internets, everyone has a dog that's so well-trained that Cesar Millan often rings them up and asks for advice.

On the internets, everyone is a master chef, but awww it's just something they do for fun, blush blush. They have an elaborate kitchen featuring shiny utensils, pots, pans, and skillets that hang from a rack suspended over the stove. Everyone has an excellent recipe for pasta sauce. They never spill anything.

Also on the internets, everyone lived in their car for 5 years as a result of their mother's tragic suicide just weeks before their spouse died of an especially cruel form of cancer. One day, they Set Their Mind To It and figured out a facepalm-simple way to make $900 a day, which allowed them to fulfill their dream of earning a PhD in Just Helping People. The book they wrote about their journey will be published soon.

I slept in my car (a 1984 Buick Regal) one night in 1993 or so. I had been committing various shenanigans (not those shenanigans... well, maybe a couple of them) with a weirdly attractive (think R. Crumb comics) Czech girl whose English vocabulary was impressive, despite apparently having learned grammar from Yoda. I got back to the place I was living at the time somewhere around 2:00am and found myself locked out without a key. Somehow, I got all integrity-filled and decided it would be rude to ring the doorbell, so I froze my ass off in the car.

I realize this must be a mind-blowing story. If you want my autograph or something, we can arrange terms.

Morning is almost over. I need to get productive. Enjoy the day people, stay out of jail!

I'm thinking about going to jail. A very cool protest is being aimed at the Alabama "Show us your papers" law. It will be illegal to give an illegal a ride to work, church, doctor, or anywhere. The proposed demonstration will be to drive illegals across the Pettus Bridge. The civil rights nostalgia-fu is overwhelming.

Reminds me of the Mike Rowe line in the video about lamb testicles. "If I got this wrong, what else have I gotten wrong".

Concur. I know that "liberal bias" is a meme grossly overused by FoxNews and others on the right, but it does exist. What we're likely seeing here is a liberal reporter who can't take "I Agree" as an answer from the other side. He sees Republicans as ogres and thus cannot even accept a GOP change of heart without ascribing it to some less-than-worthy thoughts. It's partisanship gone overboard, and I say that as a partisan person.

Yes, they can decide to study and learn the science or fail their classes. No need to have mommy or daddy run to the school principal to complain about teachers discriminating against their precious kiddo because of their religion when kiddo answers "God did it" on the exam. Fail.

I don't think it's a good idea for government to come down on one side of scientific issue or another,..

Agreed. So get the hell out of it and let science teachers teach SCIENCE without your idiotic input and attempts to legislate your religion into our science classes.

If Bachmann or some other bat guano candidate were actually elected president, the result would not be theocracy or fascism, but a legislative, judicial, and political gridlock of epic proportions. The entire government would be tied in knots by plainly un-constitutional executive orders and legislation, and serious issues would be ignored in favor of far right social grandstanding and general idiocy like resolutions against Shariah law. The immediate result would be massive lawsuits, protests, and (quite possibly) open defiance among many federal employees. With voodoo economics and superstition based scientific and social policies in place, the economy would continue to deteriorate, our global position would be destroyed, and the environmental collapse would accelerate. The far right would be quite happy with this, since they could always blame liberals and democrats.

Fox & Breitbart mainstream more Climate Skeptic FUD:

FOX (Sci-Tech): "Changing Tides: Research Center Under Fire for 'Adjusted' Sea-Level Data"
BigGovernment: "NASA Gets Caught Faking Climate Change Data-AGAIN!"

Both are basing their articles on a write-up by James M. Taylor, senior fellow for The Heartland Institute focusing on environmental issues. Here's a link to it:

Heartland Institute: "NASA-Funded Group Doctors Sea Level Data"

But what happens when sea level in the real world does not rise nearly as much as alarmists predict? If you are a NASA-funded gatekeeper of sea level data, you merely doctor the data.

Faced with the embarrassing fact that sea level is not rising nearly as much as has been predicted, the University of Colorado’s NASA-funded Sea Level Research Group has announced it will begin adding a nonexistent 0.3 millimeters per year to its Global Mean Sea Level Time Series. As a result, alarmists will be able to present sea level charts asserting an accelerating rise in sea level that is not occurring in the real world.

From the wikipedia entry for The Heartland Institute:

Global warming

The Heartland Institute questions the scientific consensus on climate change, arguing that global warming is not occurring and, further, that warming would be beneficial if it did occur. The institute is a member organization of the Cooler Heads Coalition, which describes itself as "an informal and ad-hoc group focused on dispelling the myths of global warming." In Merchants of Doubt, Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway wrote that the Heartland Institute was known "for its persistent questioning of climate science, for its promotion of 'experts' who have done little, if any, peer-reviewed climate research, and for its sponsorship of a conference in New York City in 2008 alleging that the scientific community's work on global warming is a fake."

The Heartland Insititue has received funding from various conservative family foundations (Walton, Scaife, etc), ExxonMobile and Philip Morris.

The CU Sea Level Research Group at The University of Colorado responds to these allegations here:
Addressing Questions Regarding the Recent GIA Correction

Also worth noting is this post from back in May:

One important change in these releases is that we are now adding a correction of 0.3 mm/year due to Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA), so you may notice that the rate of sea level rise is now 0.3 mm/year higher than earlier releases. This is a correction to account for the fact that the global ocean basins are getting slightly larger over time as mantle material moves from under the oceans into previously glaciated regions on land. Simply subtract 0.3 mm/year if you prefer to not include the GIA correction.

Rick Perry maneuvers to the religious right of Michelle Bachmann:

Fellow Americans,
Right now, America is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters. As a nation, we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy.
Some problems are beyond our power to solve, and according to the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, this historic hour demands a historic response. Therefore, on August 6, thousands will gather to pray for a historic breakthrough for our country and a renewed sense of moral purpose.
I sincerely hope you’ll join me in Houston on August 6th and take your place in Reliant Stadium with praying people asking God’s forgiveness, wisdom and provision for our state and nation. There is hope for America. It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees.[Link: theresponseusa.com...]

I have a sneaking feeling that we'll be hearing an announcement from the Good Haired one on 8/6. It will be wrapped up as the "breakthrough for our country and a renewed sense of moral purpose" they are praying for. Yay! God has answered our prayers!

I certainly hope so. It will be lots of fun watching him try to good-ol-boy his way to the Oval Office while refusing to debate anyone and forever railing against someone named "Worshington".

I'd pay a million Standard Galactic Credits to watch a two-hour primary debate between Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and Luap Nor. Two million if it were moderated by Samuel L. Jackson in character as Jules Winfield.

Debate highlights would include:

"Describe what Barack Obama LOOKS LIKE."

"ENGLISH, Sarah Palin, do you speak it?"

"Do you read the Bible, Michele? There's this passage I got memorized - Ezekiel 25:17..."

Jules: "Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa, stop right there. Going back to the gold standard and foot-massagin the economy ain't even the same fuckin' thing."
Luap Nor: It's the same ballpark
Jules: Ain't no fuckin ballpark, neither! Ain't the same league; it ain't even the same sport!

Mini pin could certainly be in there - he has the markings, the ears and that broad chest. He's a lot bigger and more stout and then there are those adorable white feet and white tipped tail. Hadn't thought of a beagle... hmmm, good thought.

The guy on the right unquestionably has some Chihuahua heritage. I'm guessing also some Dachshund. Likely being of both Mexican and German descent, we shall deem him "Beanerschnitzel".

American Chihuahua breeders have selected for what once upon a time was actually considered a birth defect: overly large, round heads and short muzzles. Those dogs tend to have sinus problems and really aren't very bright. It's terrible, but sudden popularity is one of the worst things that can happen to any dog breed.

Exactly why I have always preferred good ol' mutts. I get positively livid when see these abominations of nature kitties and dogs with their punched in faces who can't even breathe. To me a HUGE negative is an AKC award that tells me the poor thing is unhealthy and inbred.

I hate that kind of breeding. The most ridiculous extent is Pugs. They cannot reproduce without human intervention.
