American Thinker Sounds the Alarm (Again) on Stealth Creeping Jihad Halal Turkeys

Terror turkeys hate our freedom, plot to destroy democracy
Wingnuts • Views: 34,357

Yes, believe it or don’t, the anti-Muslim hate bloggers are still ranting themselves into a sweat over the imminent threat of stealth jihad Creeping Halal Butterball suicide turkeys.

American Thinker (most ironic name on the Internets) writer William Sullivan is outraged over the treatment hate group leader Pamela Geller has received, just for blowing the whistle on this existential threat to our democracy and freedoms.

GOBBLE GOBBLE AKBAR!Contrast this reaction to that received by Pamela Geller for her efforts to expose Butterball’s company practice of covertly slaughtering all turkeys in accordance with Islamic halal standards.  She was met with ruthless accusations of bigotry, intolerance, and Islamophobia by Muslims and non-Muslims alike.  Ms. Geller merely offered that many “Christians, Hindus or Sikhs and Jews find it offensive to eat meat slaughtered according to Islamic ritual.”  She, very much like British activists did earlier this year, suggested that Butterball clearly mark their meat as halal so that consumers can make their choices accordingly, and until they “stop selling only halal turkeys and make non-halal turkeys available,” (emphasis added) she asks that agreeing Americans boycott the company.

From a strictly secular point of view, is this any less reasonable than a Muslim minority asking that halal turkeys be made available to them and to have them labeled as such?  Certainly not.  So why has Geller been so viciously smeared for her efforts?

Since Sullivan links to LGF as an example of “accusations of bigotry, intolerance, and Islamophobia,” I had to go back and check what I wrote, and none of those words actually appear in the post he linked.

I must admit, though, that I did use the phrases “utterly hilarious,” “wingnut comedy,” “authentically insane,” “feverish imagination,” “deranged followers,” “lame-brained commenters,” “lost in cloud cuckoo land,” and “idiotic conspiracy theory.” So mea culpa for those.

From a strictly secular point of view

Something seems to have been lost in translation. From a strictly secular point of view, if it's edible, no one cares what religious rituals the food encountered during preparation.

I do thank her breathlessly "breaking news!" reporting for being quite a source of hilarity and great jokes here and beyond. When I found out my hosts for the holiday were serving a perfectly smoked and very delicious Butterball stealth jihad turkey, it gave me a lot of entertaining material to work with. I think Charles' accusations descriptions are dead-on accurate.

So what category does speaking in tongues and similar come under?

We are nit picking and I take your point, but getting high is not really comparable to alcohol intoxication and I suspect it was known in early days or it (along with things like mushrooms) would have been specifically prohibited.

Depends on the interpretation. Many Christians extend the ban on alcohol to other intoxicating substances. And then go get shitfaced down at the bar.

Islam has an express ban on intoxicating substances. Most scholars include cannabis in that category. Though they also have Khizr and rocking hash, so YMMV.

While i'm not so sure, you illustrate how easily different people can differ about these peripheral things, which is why I'm usually far more frustrated at fellow Christians who get too intolerant than at godless heathens like yourself/

I suspect that there isn't much difference in the behavior of someone who's three sheets to the wind vs. someone who's tripping balls...either way, you lose the ability to manage your conduct and flirt with long-term dependency.

What's really interesting is how seriously that passage focuses on 'revilers'. Whooole lot more Christians need to watch their conduct in that area than in the bar (including me).
