What truce? Hamas and its fellow terrorists have not stopped attacking Israel since the end of Operation Cast Lead. You can’t go more than 24 hours without a report of kassams or mortars fired, or terrorists caught attempting to use IEDs or engaging in work accidents.

The BBC plays a similar trick when they first note Israel’s response - airstrikes and only then mention the reason - Hamas attacks.

Evil.

More here.

From your link:

‘GAZA, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) — A senior Hamas leader disclosed Sunday that he did not have enough information about the whereabouts of an Israeli soldier seized by Palestinian militants in 2006, and said “he might be killed” in a recent Israeli assault on Gaza.
Mousa Abu Marzooq, deputy politburo of Hamas, based in Damascus, told the London-based Saudi Arabia Daily “We have no enough details … he (Gilat Shalit) could be killed with other children during the war. I really don’t know.” ‘

Oh lovely - so its the fault of the IDF if Gilat Shalit is dead, not of the hamsholes, what a surprise!

Tzipi Livni, who hopes to be appointed Israel’s prime minister-designate, said Monday Israel must give up considerable territory in exchange for peace with the Palestinians, drawing a clear distinction with her rival, Benjamin Netanyahu.

She told a convention of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Organizations, “we need to give up half of the Land of Israel,” using a term that refers to biblical borders that include today’s Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

She explained that such a withdrawal would be for the good of Israel, to maintain it as a Jewish state.

Livni told the U.S. Jewish leaders that Israel must take the initiative and come forward with its own peace plan to head off international programs. “Any plan put on the table will not be in our interest,” she said.

Missing dinosaur link found in Argentina

Scientists have found fossil remains of an omnivorous dinosaur in Argentina — a missing link to the carnivores, a researcher said Monday.
“It is an omnivore — in other words it ate everything (plants and meat) — which is the missing link between carnivorous dinosaurs and giant four-footed herbivores,” said Oscar Alcober, also director of the Natural Sciences Museum in San Juan, 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) west of Buenos Aires.

Thanks for finding that - interestingly enough the 14th amendment that provides sufferage for all male citizens ends with this statement:

5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

It seems to imply that enforcement of sufferage falls under the congress, but I don’t know if that can be generally applied to the rest of the section on census.

That’s actually a much more complicated question.

In order to have standing, someone would have to be able to show that they were harmed by the act. I have no idea who would actually be able to do that.

I would think any Republican Official. Since the census is suppose to be NON political, any attempt to put the executive branch directly in charge would harm the party out of power.

The relevant sentence is this one: The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct

Congress has already “directed” that the Census Bureau be a part of the Commerce Department. If Congress wants to pass a new law directing that the judges from American Idol be in charge of it, they can do so.

But they haven’t. Nor have they passed a law putting the White House Chief of Staff in charge.

Bingo, that’s how I read it as well. It’s the end-run thing that may be really illuminating about this. What would happen if the President announced that the census would be conducted by the Commerce Dept. with the relevant Commerce personnel working in close cooperation with the Chief of Staff?

Internet the key to Obama’s campaign success

THOMAS Jefferson was renowned as the first US president to harness the power of print. Similarly, Roosevelt used radio and JFK used TV. And now Barack Obama has become the champion of the internet.

Enabling that to happen was Ben Self, the former computer scientist who served as technology director for the Democratic National Committee.

In Australia last week as a guest of the Internet Industry Association, Self was the keynote speaker at a lunch hosted by search engine group Google, whose local chief Karim Temsamani says Obama used the internet to lower the cost of building a political brand.

There is no justification for it under the Constitution, but the information isn’t entirely useless, either.

Although a lot of it is used by marketing people, most of the questions they ask are of at least some value to state and local governments. The questions about pets, for example, can be used to cross-check the number of pets that have been licensed in a city, so they can get an idea of how well people are complying with the registration laws.

As someone with a public administration background who’s also a conservative, I’m kind of conflicted over the whole thing. I can agree with the idea that it’s none of their business, while at the same time understanding the usefulness of the data.

I see no inherent problem in having it under Commerce. It’s definitely an Executive Branch responsibility to run it. People seem to forget what that word means. The Executive Branch “executes” (carries out) the government’s functions.

re: #247 Paco from Sefarad

If it wasn’t Hamas who kidnapped him who did?

IIRC, it was Islamic Jihad.

re: #253 pre-Boomer Marine brat

I was wrong. It was Mumtaz Dughmush’s Army of Islam, or Jaysh al-Islam.

IIRC, it was Islamic Jihad.

But isn’t it Hamas that’s holding him?

Anyway, it’s the first time I’ve seen Hamas’s involvement minimised in that way.

Is anybody in the MSM worldwide going to stop drinking the KoolAid?

Here’s the best part

Many smuggling tunnels along Gaza’s border with Egypt were destroyed, crimping Hamas’s resupply lines. To rebuild, Gazans need Israel and Egypt to open the border crossings permanently.

Yeah. that sentence right there just made it sound like a newsletter from Hamas to its members.

Holy cow! So sad but so true.

re: #16 vapig

I know they keep inflating the number of muslims worldwide, but isn’t that more people than currently reside on planet earth?

They use Democrat math, the same formula that has 5oo million Americans losing their jobs every month.

The problem is not that the marxist socialist media is biased, but that they lie through their teeth.

A person can be biased and still tell the truth.

Marxism and socialism are all about lies. However, they believe that if you repeat a lie often enough, it will become truth. It works, for some people. Like the 52% of alleged Americans who voted for this mess.

Neither. It’s George Soros.

Probably George Lucas.

re: #136 turn

Back now, had to grab something off the roach coach. Come to think about it I would lean to him being alive for one reason, Hamas hasn’t come out with a video of his beheading.

Has Hamas ever released a beheading video? (Jesus, why am I discussing this in a calm rational tone of voice?)

“…the Islamist group taking a gamble on the Jewish state keeping its word.”
Is this comedic or is it just me?

In just about all affairs, if there is a lack of agreement between two parties, then that is reported as a lack of agreement. But when there is a lack of agreement between Israel and the terrorists, then al-Reuters reports that as being the fault of Israel. That is their headline. But they don’t explain under what principle they assign the blame to Israel.

In an automobile accident, blame is assigned according to standard assumptions of proper behavior — e.g., a car is not supposed to strike another car.

In this instance, al-Reuters acts as the jury, and it finds no blame to be assigned to the terrorists for kidnapping an Israeli soldier, but only assigns blame to Israel for wanting him to be returned. Al-Reuters does not act as any jury would in any other case, but simply acts as an advocate for the terrorists, using terrorist desires as the standard for proper behavior. Al-Reuters’ sole criterion for what is proper is simply whatever the terrorists want to happen.

Absolutely despicable. Anyone who works for Reuters hopefully has a hard time sleeping at night otherwise they will surely be burning in whatever hellish inferno you profess to believe in…Openly skewing headlines in order to attempt to paint the “good” guy as the “bad” guy is sheer lying and deception…but in this case its even worse because of that fact that peoples livelihoods in the MiddleEast could depend on America’s support or lack of support.
