Mexican President Peña Nieto Compares Donald Trump to Hitler and Mussolini
Former Mexican presidents Felipe Calderon and Vicente Fox have spoken out against Donald Drumpf and his ridiculous, unworkable, xenophobic plan to build a gigantic wall along the US-Mexico border, and today they were joined by the current president of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, comparing Trump to Mussolini and Hitler in an interview with the newspaper Excélsior.
The only thing more absurd than the idea of a yoooge wall, of course, is the Drumpf talking point, repeated at every rally, that he’s going to somehow force Mexico to pay for the damned thing. Unsurprisingly, President Nieto said, “Nope.”
Asked by Excélsior whether there was a scenario under which Mexico would pay for a wall, Mr. Peña Nieto was clear. “There is no scenario,” he said. “I have to say that I regret” the plan.
He added, “Of course I can’t agree with this American politician’s position.”

“And there have been episodes in human history, unfortunately, where these expressions of this strident rhetoric have only led to very ominous situations in the history of humanity,” he said. “That’s how Mussolini got in, that’s how Hitler got in. They took advantage of a situation, a problem perhaps, which humanity was going through at the time, after an economic crisis.”
