Franklin Graham on Donald Trump: ‘Maybe This Guy’s Right’

Did Billy’s kid join the Birther Bunch?
Wingnuts • Views: 29,853

Franklin Graham, who’s notorious for his anti-Muslim bigotry (recently he said that Barack Obama was tainted by “the seed of Islam”), told Christiane Amanpour today that Donald Trump might be his candidate of choice.

The Rev. Franklin Graham, whose family has served as spiritual advisers to numerous prominent political figures, told “This Week” anchor Christiane Amanpour that businessman Donald Trump might be his candidate of choice in 2012 and that he does not think former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will run for president.

“Donald Trump, when I first saw that he was getting in, I thought, well, this has got to be a joke,” said Graham. “But the more you listen to him, the more you say to yourself, you know, maybe this guy’s right.”

Since the main issue that Donald Trump has been moronically hammering for the past few weeks has been Birtherism, is Franklin Graham now joining the Birther Bunch?

We will know in the middle of May when ABC announces their new fall line up. That’s funny having to wait for a candidate for President that is waiting to see if his reality show gets picked up. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Politico has a lead story on Birtherism right now, blaming the whole thing on the Democrats and linking it, by vague insinuation, to 9/11 Trutherism (Ben Smith has a post on that, too — another of those False Equivalency Fairy magic pieces).
However, the main story concludes:

Some Republicans take the position out of a basic respect for facts, but they also worry about its consequences for their party.

“It makes us look weird. It makes us look crazy. It makes us look demented. It makes us look sick, troubled, and not suitable for civilized company,” one of the first conservatives to turn against the birthers, talk show host Michael Medved, said in 2009. “I’m not a conspiracist, but this could be a very big conspiracy to make conservatives disgrace themselves.”

It’s looking like Drudge’s attempt at race baiting might fail. He gross video he’s using to incite racial animosity may have been a case of a crossdressing man in the woman’s bathroom.
McDonald’s Employee Took Credit For Filming Brutal Beating In Baltimore Fast Food Joint

As seen above, in a Facebook posting, Hackett has contended that the woman seen getting beaten in the video was actually a male cross-dresser who got into a confrontation with female patrons when he refused to leave the women’s bathroom at the Baltimore eatery.

He also claims the seizure was fake so I think we can take his claims with a grain of salt.
Btw, the video is very disturbing. I wish I hadn’t watched it.

I’m going to do something I otherwise don’t do anymore and link to a column by Michelle Malkin (Charles, please delete this if you feel the link inappropriate). This one on NRO and isn’t bigoted. I use it only to explain that National Review isn’t confused about who Donald Trump is, and they know he’s no species of conservative:

Trump’s Eminent-Domain Empire

Don’t be fooled by the Donald. Take it from one who knows: I’m a South Jersey gal who was raised on the outskirts of Atlantic City in the looming shadow of Trump’s towers. All through my childhood, casino developers and government bureaucrats joined hands, raised taxes, and made dazzling promises of urban renewal. Then we wised up to the eminent-domain thievery championed by our hometown faux free-marketeers.

America, it’s time you wised up to Donald Trump’s property-redistribution racket, too.

Trump has been wooing conservative activists for months and flirting with a GOP presidential run — first at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington and most recently at a tea-party event in South Florida. He touts his business experience, “high aptitude,” and “bragadocious” deal-making abilities. But he’s no more a standard bearer of conservative values, limited government, and constitutional principles than the cast of Jersey Shore.

Too many mega-developers like Trump have achieved success by using and abusing the government’s ability to commandeer private property for purported “public use.” Invoking the Fifth Amendment takings clause, real-estate moguls, parking-garage builders, mall developers, and sports-palace architects have colluded with elected officials to pull off legalized theft in the name of reducing “blight.” Under eminent domain, the definition of “public purpose” has been stretched like Silly Putty to cover everything from roads and bridges to high-end retail stores, baseball stadiums, and casinos.

Malkin’s an ass, but she’s right about Trump. He has zero respect for the property of others.

Iowa GOPers Attempting To Impeach Four Judges Who Overturned Same-Sex Marriage Ban

Facepalm.

Thankfully, it looks like the resolution is doomed. From the article:

But Iowa House Speaker Kraig Paulsen (R) on Friday took some of the wind out of their sails, saying the resolutions won’t yet be debated because they must go through the House Judiciary Committee first, which is not scheduled to meet for the rest of this year’s legislative session. “While I agree with much of the reasoning behind the impeachment resolutions, I disagree with this remedy,” Paulsen said, “I do not expect it to be debated on the floor of the House, and if it is, I will vote no.”

The Supreme Court issued a statement in response, saying that “impeachment is not appropriate.”

“Deciding a question in a lawsuit about whether a law violates a provision of the constitution is a fundamental role of courts in our system of government,” the statement said. “Both state and federal courts have exercised this responsibility in countless cases, many of them controversial, for over 200 years.”

“In the old days when you have a war and you win, that nation is yours,” he said. “Either I go in and take the oil or I don’t go in at all.”

“Just take their oil?” Crowley asked.

“Absolutely,” Trump replied. “I’d take the oil, give them plenty so they can live very happily. I’d take the oil.”

However I do understand that Iraq is an independent nation. I just would like the leader of the free world to be clear that OPEC is a cartel that is not really looking out for Iraqs best interest.

Palin is simply taking some time to figure out where she can make the most money - either by paid campaign appearances (if there is enough demand), whoring out another book deal, sticking with weekly appearances of O’Reilly and Hannity, or pretending to run so she can collect campaign donations and grift off of the American people some more.

Bachmann would be entertaining, but frightening, to see in a real national campaign. What if she won?

Oh, my.

Yes, it was redelivered to me.
I contacted the post office problem resolution folks by e-mail, because the thing was returned to me IN ERROR, not my fault, and I didn’t want to pay the shipping again.

I was told to bring it back to the post office. Which I did. Shall I put it in a new box? No, no new box, we can’t transfer the postage, has to be the same box. OK, well, shall I put on a new address label since you can hardly read the original one? No, no new address label, we’d have to charge you postage again. That was Monday, this week.

Wednesday - the package was DELIVERED BACK TO ME AGAIN. All the markings on it from when it was not delivered to the P.O. Box in Culver City apparently confused the mail sorting people, and so they sent it BACK to me again. I managed to catch my mail carrier before she left, and explained the whole woeful story to her. She took the package, said she knew what she needed to do, and would take care of it.

So I have my fingers crossed it gets to Charles.

And so the adventure continues….
:)

There’s no chance for Bachmann, Ron Paul, Palin or Trump. I do worry about this country sometimes and worry that we’re headed in the wrong direction but we aren’t that dumb yet. Maybe someday but not yet.

I can see Bachman, Palin, or Paul running on the GOP ticket as VP, and Trump has already stated that he’s likely to run third party (probably bullshit, but he said it.) I think it’s likely that Romney will get ganked early on and Huckabee will be left standing.

Sheesh! Like we pillaged Germany and Japan after World War 2? Or split up the defeated Confederacy and divided its property among loyal Unionists? He obviously has no idea that President Wilson, whatever his other faults, did his utmost to mitigate the allies’ attempt to loot Germany after World War1. Where is Trump getting this crap? Has David Barton written a new book on 19th and 20th century history?

Do you remember the threads on Free Republic where they defended the looting of boxcars full of Jewish stuff by the Allies? Freepers claimed that the Jews OWED all their stuff to the G.I.’s for saving their asses from the nazis. I mean like, if the cops shot the home invaders before they could rape your wife, shouldn’t you give them your TV?

Frankly I think relying on the socons is a pretty stupid strategy. I see two things here. A closed primary limits who can vote which effectively leaves out independents. So then the socons have a significant say during the primaries. But then they scare off the independents with a candidate chosen with the help of the socons. Why is that a problems for the GOP? Because the independent voter base is much larger than the socon base. What the GOP needs to do is find a way to attract independents and Democrats. But the way things are going I don’t see that happening.

The sentence is for a probation violation. Lohan has not been tried for the theft. However, the judge reduced the theft charge from a felony to a misdemeanor. Since Lohan finally got a movie deal recently, she’ll likely reach a settlement with the store now and do no time for the theft.

Recycling electronic equipment is better than throwing it away, but much of the “recycling” industry for electronics is a little dubious. I prefer the second R, reuse.

I regularly fix up older computers, my own or donated, and then donate them to poor families. It isn’t perfect, the computers are slow. But coupled with some free dialup it is way better than nothing at all.

This is one of those special electronics collection efforts. Presumably they will dispose of/recycle the stuff responsibly. The printers were already reconditioned and reused. The computer I used for eleven years. That’s enough, isn’t it?
