Sarah Palin’s Word Salad of the Day: Obama ‘Orchestrated’ His Trayvon Remarks

Does she understand what “orchestration” means?
Wingnuts • Views: 36,531

Speaking today on Fox News (the only place she ever speaks), half-governor Sarah Palin tossed another absurd word salad to her wingnut admirers, blathering that President Obama “orchestrated” his remarks about Trayvon Martin.

“I think it was orchestrated,” Palin said. “I’m going to get clobbered for even suggesting this, but it is what I believe.” …

Palin said she was “very, very surprised out of all the issues that are going on in our country today that the president” would have taken a question about the Martin case.

She said the politicization of the shooting is unfair to Martin’s parents.
“It’s unspeakable the hurt, the sorrow, the loss this family is feeling,” she said. “People who are jumping in there without having all the facts first are making the situation even worse when you consider we are talking about a young man’s life.”

For what sinister purpose Obama “orchestrated” his statement, Palin doesn’t say. But then, she doesn’t have to. The wingnuts take it from there, in the comments for this article:

Obama is deliberately inciting the black population to riot.

[…]

kinda like my pet monkey look alike in the white house!!!

[…]

I’m sorry the 17 year old choose to live by crime and violence, but it’s his own fault when he gets killed by somebody rightfully defending himself.

Et cetera.

Hello, mirror, it's me, Sarah!

If by "orchestrated" she means "thought about what he was saying and did so in a comprehensible, clear manner" she's right.

Sarah, on the other hand, is all about freedom from syntax, grammar, and clearly ascribed meaning...and that's why her supporters love her.

Fox rules: Obama can't express sympathy to a black family who has lost their son without expressing sympathy to all Americans everywhere for every reason, or he's "dividing the country."

Seriously, it's fascinating. You begin to see a pattern of similar comments - in this case, focusing on Obama's decisiveness. One commenter spoke about how Obama and his "handlers' "chose" this case as agitprop. More chimed in, about how Obama should stay out of it, talking about the Louis Gates Jr. incident, blah, blah. More along the same lines.

Then I come over here and see that Palin's on the exact same meme, almost verbatim.

I suppose they'd claim the same uniformity among left-wingers - but I am convinced that the frightwingers are much more inclined to follow uniform arguments and stay on message with great discipline.

She means she thinks the question was planted, as opposed to, presumably, Obama's team realizing that he would be asked to comment, and thinking about what he should say.

If it's not completely off the cuff, it's all LIES, you see.

Thanks for that link.

For the next two weeks, lead investigator Chris Serino pursued a manslaughter charge against Zimmerman.

We were discussing last night the plausibility of Zimmerman's claim that he didn't talk to a lawyer for a month after the shooting.

That the police were pursuing a manslaughter charge for two weeks subsequent to the shooting (something I hadn't heard before) makes it all that much more implausible, IMO.

Keep in mind, I have actually read people arguing something much more comprehensive - not just simply an orchestration of Obama's comments, but a deliberate strategy of taking this shooting and exploiting it for the purpose of political expediency; presumably, plucking it from relative obscurity and using the tools in the leftwing lamestream media to promote their agenda of "race-baiting."

I don't doubt in the least that was her meaning (of course, it's always hard to tell what she means from her word salads).

In a pointed new challenge, a Sacramento law firm is asking a judge to block Hernandez from describing himself as an “astronaut/scientist/engineer” on the June ballot. The lawsuit notes Hernandez has left NASA.

What a fun trend this could be, minorities having to go to court for permission to publicly associate with their life’s work! There’s some job creation for you: Hernandez says on his Facebook page that it will cost $20,000 to hire lawyers to defeat the lawsuit.

Disgraced megalomaniacs like Newt Gingrich will still be referred to by their former titles such as “Mr. Speaker,” but only as a special reward for being forced to resign his post in shame.

As the article notes, he is the son of migrant farm workers. Inspired by the words of his father, he took American education seriously and eventually became what I consider to be a hero. (C'mon, a freaking astronaut qualifies as "Hero" in my book.)

This is what I read about him recently in Vida en el Valle.

This is also part of what pisses me off about hard-core anti-immigrant assholes. Would that they had their way, we'd be minus one inspiring astronaut right now, and our nation would be lesser for it.

There's definitely a falling-in to tow the line that President's remark is somehow an intrusion and "making a big deal" out of the situation...there's still variance on whether that was motivated by selfishness or blackness.

Their argument boils down to this:

“Hernandez’s attempted use of ‘astronaut’ violates the Election Code’s unambiguous requirement that a candidate’s ballot designation reflect one’s current profession, vocation, or one held during the previous calendar year,” the lawsuit states.

I don't know if that's true or not, but it seems rather petty and pathetic to me. I wonder if they would allow "Former NASA Astronaut" to be used.

Max Read:

"One problem is that to those of us outside the self-shaking horseshit snow globe, smoking weed and having tattoos aren't evidence of anything. Most of us look at all the charges marshaled against Martin and see a kid. Many of us see our friends, or ourselves. There's a tragic irony to the fact that the only people Trayvon Martin was really able to fool into thinking he was anything but a baby-faced high schooler were the same people who think he deserved to be shot.

But the other problem is the terms of the debate itself. Whether or not Martin was a good kid or a bad kid, an angel or a thug, a normal teenager or a dangerous deviant, he had every right to walk in the streets of his soon-to-be-stepmother's neighborhood without fear of being shot. A criminal record, a manner of dress, a height: none of these make the shooting of an unarmed, law-abiding teenager justified. And yet here we are, forced to defend Martin's honor, as though if he had been a gangster there'd be nothing to say. As though the minute a black man is anything but a choir boy it's okay to shoot him in the street."

The ultimate sin of Spike Lee.

MARCH 27--With Twitter and Facebook continuing to explode with posts purporting to contain the address of George Zimmerman, property records and interviews reveal that the home is actually the longtime residence of a married Florida couple, both in their 70s, who have no connection to the man who killed Trayvon Martin and are now living in fear due to erroneous reports about their connection to the shooter.

The mass dissemination of the address on Edgewater Circle in Sanford--the Florida city where Martin was shot to death last month--took flight last Friday when director Spike Lee re tweeted a tweet containing Zimmerman’s purported address to his 240,000 followers.

The original tweet was sent to Lee (and numerous other celebrities like Will Smith, 50 Cent, and LeBron James) last Friday afternoon by Marcus Davonne Higgins, a 33-year-old Los Angeles man who uses the online handle “maccapone.” Higgins included the direction, “EVERYBODY REPOST THIS.”

Higgins, pictured at right, first began disseminating the Sanford address to his Twitter followers last Wednesday, including the claim that Zimmerman “Like the fat punk he is, he still lives at home with mommie & daddy.” In a simultaneous post to his Facebook wall, Higgins told his 4000 friends, “FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT & TOUCH HIM.” He also claimed in another post that, “REAL TALK MY PEOPLE OUT THERE IN FLORIDA JUST TOLD ME GEORGE ZIMMERMAN IS NOT AT HIS HOUSE THEY OUT THERE RIGHT NOW.”

Higgins’s dissemination of Zimmerman’s purported Edgewater Circle address was not, however, limited to cyberspace. At a protest rally last Thursday in an L.A. park near his Crenshaw home, Higgins held a sign containing Zimmerman’s name, address, and phone number.

Except, of course, none were accurate.

The man who shot Martin is George Michael Zimmerman. Higgins has repeatedly identified him as “George W. Zimmerman.”

The residence on Edgewater Circle is actually the home of David McClain, 72, and his wife Elaine, 70. The McClains, both of whom work for the Seminole County school system, have lived in the 1310-square-foot lakefront home for about a decade, records show.

Spike, you may be on the right side of the social spectrum but in this case, even though you're not the original source of the message, shame on you for retweeting this! You with a hundreds of thousands of followers should know better. Retweeting like an empty headed dittohead without seeing the consequences is a sin. If Zimmerman dies, the truth about what happened to Trayvon may never be fully known.

I think normally a lot of this stuff, expecially the Black Panthers bounty, would lead to arrests. But the tensions are so high and there are a lot of conspiracy theories circulating that making arrests could further inflame the situation. Soon headlines would read, "Government rounds up Trayvon supporters" and all hell could break loose.

It is not similar. I mean a president should be careful of comments on cases that will wind up in the courts. I understand what President Obama was saying and it was very human thing to do. The President just should not appear to take sides.

90 Lidane  Thu, Mar 29, 2012 4:02:55pm

Quick! Find the incitement and/or politicization:

Question: Mr. President, may I ask you about this current case in Florida, very controversial, allegations of lingering racism within our society — the so-called do not — I’m sorry — Stand Your Ground law and the justice in that? Can you comment on the Trayvon Martin case, sir?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I’m the head of the executive branch, and the Attorney General reports to me so I’ve got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we’re not impairing any investigation that’s taking place right now.

But obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.

So I’m glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what’s taking place. I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.

But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

Thank you.

The President was very careful. Consoling and sympathizing with the parents isn't taking sides except to the intellectually dishonest out there who desperately need to spin the President as having taken sides. You tried selling your specious reasoning in this previous thread, and you continue selling it quite poorly. First he was injecting an issue already steeped and infused with race, with race. Now you're saying he's equivalent to Nixon's prejudging of Calley when Obama is very specifically not taking sides in the case. It's clear that your preformed conclusion is driving your reasoning rather than the other way around, you want to cast Obama as being in the wrong and are latching onto any scrap of rhetoric you think will buttress this position.

This simple fact is all Obama did was accurately cast a tragedy as a tragedy and express sympathy with two parents who lost their child as a result. Any and all judgements, side taking and innuendo you've chosen to glean from his statement were inferred and not implied.

Daydreams are cheap entertainment.

You're going to get "clobbered" because you're attacking the president for the sake of attacking the president Sarah but it's just like you to make yourself into a victim after real tragedies like this occur. Typical her. I wish she would fade away into obscurity forever. No other failed VP candidate has gotten this much of their fifteen minutes of fame.

I just cannot read or listen to Palin's blatherings/rants anymore. She's just not that important and as dumb as dirt. But she was great for some laughs during the 2008 elections!! And I will always LOVE Tina Fey for her Palin impersonations on Saturday Night Live.
Still need to watch Game Change, which I heard was great.
