Ben Carson Says “The Power of God” Is Behind His Presidential Campaign

Here we go again
Politics • Views: 59,092

It never fails. In every single Republican campaign, all the candidates claim God Himself intended for them to be president. And then, when they lose, they never even try to explain why God misled them like that. Maybe God has a nasty sense of humor and is just playing pranks on them?

So, of course young Earth creationist Ben Carson says God wants him to be president. How could he not? It helps sell him to Republican voters, because they never get tired of this snake oil show.

In a sane society, people who think they speak to god or god intends them to be whatever would be shunned as not right in the head. Now, we have far too many people who want to elect them.

Un.Fucking.Real.

Yesterday on Daystar’s “Marcus and Joni,” Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson lashed out at critics who said that he would never have a chance to win the presidency.

Daystar is really one of the worst excuses for “Christian” broadcasting. Lots of Prosperity Gospel. Truly awful.

The Power of God he says. Oh really? That explains why he’s not leading all the polls, but rather running significantly behind Trump at every turn (latest polling shows him 10 behind Trump, 7 back in NH (or quite possibly 12 back in NH)). And even if you excuse that bit, you’ve got the whole head-to-head matchup with Democrats, in which he again loses.

But I’m glad that he mentions religion here, because now’s as good a time as any to remind him that he called for the Department of Education to get curtailed as part of his small government initiative, but now wants to vastly expand its police powers to make sure that college campuses aren’t violating “religious freedoms.” That’s some small government GOP baffling BS logic there:

Government so small that it fits in every college classroom (and beyond).

It comes as a matched set with the GOP so small that it fits inside every woman’s lady bits.

Here are the ACS Guidelines.

They were concerned that too many false positives were being reported compared to actual cancer being detected, even cases of women submitting to completely unnecessary mastectomy.

Of course if there is a FAMILY HISTORY then get checked earlier by all means.

re: #29 The Vicious Babushka

Not only false positives, but that the number of mammograms a woman receives might increase chances of cancer later in life - cumulative dosing. That’s why they are shifting away from a rigid schedule to one that takes family history into account, greater emphasis on self-testing, and understanding that advances in breast cancer research underpins the advice by the ACS on adjusting the guidelines.

It also reduces the number of mammograms a woman would get later in life too - to forgo them if a woman is within 10 years of their projected life expectancy since they’re more likely to die of something other than the cancer.

There’s a lot of statistical information backing up the change, but it ultimately still comes down to what the woman and her doctor want to do.

37
HappyWarrior  Oct 21, 2015 • 12:16:28pm

Who would be good? No knock, just curious who you all thin would be a good chairperson. I agree about Debbie. I think she’s too tied to Hillary to be effective. I have to say, I wasn’t a huge fan of Howard Dean as a candidate and honestly guy but I liked his strategy as party chair.

The basic problem is right there, where I bolded it: DWS is a big pal of Hillary’s; and the Party isn’t likely to dump a crony of their frontrunner/presumed nominee; especially if said candidate looks to be the next President.

That said, I agree that Wasserman-Schultz’s tenure at the DNC has been fairly underwhelming: Maybe in 2017, her good friend Madam President can find a nice cozy ambassadorship for her: Mars, maybe….

Klys, even more off topic, but I saw the other day that you had picked up a spindle and some fleece. If you need any help, just let me know. And welcome to the Dark Side.

It may be needed. I got a brief hands-on demo at the faire but haven’t tried it myself at home yet.

I figure I need things to dabble in when taking a break from stitching.

The middle of the letter:

She only had two or three runs in before you approached her and said “Hey, excuse me …”

I immediately prepared to deliver my “She’s allowed to use this park just as much as you guys” speech when I heard you say, “Your feet are wrong. Can I help you?”

You proceeded to spend almost an hour with my daughter showing her how to balance and steer, and she listened to you - a feat not attained by most adults.

It’s largely a matter of practice, and not getting discouraged when your yarn breaks and your drop spindle, well, drops. But I’ll be happy to help if you need it.

Before you know it, you’ll do like me-order 3 pounds of merino roving because I thought I’d spin the weft for a blanket. It has to be fairly fine and 2 ply-and a full week into this process, I realize that at best I can do 6 oz. per week (if I spin for a couple hours every evening.) Let’s do the math…

Donald Trump on Wednesday promised to close certain mosques in the U.S. if elected President.

Trump, discussing his strategy to fight ISIS during an interview on Fox Business Network, also said he would revoke the passports of U.S. citizens who have traveled abroad to fight for ISIS.

“I would do that,” Trump said during a telephone interview after FBN host Jim Varney asked him if he would favor revoking passports and closing mosques. “Absolutely. I think it’s great.”

Bickford, who is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been charged with multiple felony charges, including intimidation, strangulation and battery, in the attack at a Turkish cafe in Bloomington, about 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the Muslim woman was sitting at a table with her 9-year-old daughter when a man later identified as Bickford emerged from a nearby alley shouting “white power,” anti-black racial slurs and “kill the police.” Bickford grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her head forward, restricting her breathing as he tried to remove her headscarf, police allege.

Thanks. I do enjoy that we have a lot of former and some current service members on LGF. I’m rather tired of the all veterans are super conservative and ready to committ treason against Obama meme.

I WAS quite conservative when I first joined LGF. Hell LGF Watch even had me listed as one of the more radical right wingers at the time. But my eyes were opened (as were a lot of others) right after PBO was elected to his first term. The outright anger and hatred the erupted from the right was enough to get me to question my beliefs and who I was supporting. Then you add the revelations that we had been associating with Islamophobes and Charles refusal to be a party to their crap anymore and you get to were I am at now.

it’s funny, before I switched to Apple, I had a string of Compaqs over ten years (1996 when I graduated high school until about 2006 when I passed the bar). The first couple I had, I loved. But the last couple, post merger, were less than stellar. I don’t know how much that had to do with the general shittiness of Windows and how much was Fiorina ruining an otherwise good manufacturer of machines.

Fascinating.

In some ways, my own discipline of software development kind of encourages the same thing. Lucrative contracts are awarded to young hotshot programmers who can code circles around older, seasoned developers. The burst of the dot-com bubble did, however, have a net positive benefit in that sphere by curbing those corporate impulses in favor of hiring people who actually knew what the hell they were doing.

In addition to WW’s quote

Finally, Carson told a long-winded and wind-baggy story about being called away to perform emergency surgery the day of his son’s fifth birthday party. That night, on returning home, having missed the cake and gifts, the balloons and singing, Carson apparently woke his small son up and told him, “This year, I didn’t have time to get you a present, son, but this year, for your birthday present” — and here, Carson paused for dramatic effect — “I saved another child’s life!”

Yeah, Speakership is pretty much a dead end for political ambitions. Especially in recent decades, when usually the only reason you leave the job is because you got thrown out, either because the majority party changed or because you became such a political leper that your own party wanted you gone.

Thabo Sefalosha of the Atlanta Hawks is suing NYC and NYPD for $50 mil…

The NBA player who beat criminal charges of resisting arrest in a melee outside a Manhattan nightclub plans to sue the city and eight cops for up to $50 million over what he claims are “permanent” injuries, even though he’s back on the court — and dunking.
Thabo Sefolosha of the Atlanta Hawks says in a legal notice that the broken leg he suffered when cops pushed him to the ground outside celebrity hot spot 1Oak last April caused him to “become substantially disabled.”

The physical “damages are permanent in nature and continuing into the future,” according to the notice of claim filed with the city’s comptroller.

But six months later, the 6-foot-5 guard/forward is back on the court.

I’m not sure how they’ll square the ‘permanent injury’ charge with the fact that he’s currently playing ball. A broken leg will probably shorten his career, but his lawyer will have a tough time making the case nonetheless.

But he should get something for his time and trouble, because NYPD seriously fucked up on this one.

“Permanent injury” is a legal term of art. Most basic meaning is:

Physical or mental damage that will indefinitely restrict the employment or other normal activities of an individual.

Injury history is something that could affect his future earnings as a basketball player - plus, missing the playoffs also means he lost a chance for a bigger contract (a lot of teams will overpay when a player has a good playoff run).

I gotta say, next year is gonna be a hoot if Trump wins the nomination, if only because it means all the “moderates” will find themselves trying to explain why Trump is such a great choice for the presidency.

I’ve sorta seen evidence of that already. Some conservatives will describe Trump’s popularity as proof that people are fed up with politicians and want an outsider to shake things up.

Which is, of course, horseshit. You’ll notice the use of the word “people”. No, its not “people”. It’s Tea Baggers who are running to Trump’s blatant bigoted pandering like a herd of cats to a can opener (apologies to the cats.)

Sometimes I view it as a cry for help. Like they know how fucked the GOP is; and they’re horrified at how the fever swamp denizens have taken over the party; but they just can’t bring themselves to admit what a nightmare this is.

Talking about a scientific study that sought to understand how the posterior medial frontal cortex influences ideology, specifically religion and nationalism, (lonesome) Joe came up with this little gem:

“The whole transgender crowd, they see their main opponent as being those of faith and so obviously they’re going to use any aggressive tactics they can to move forward that agenda,” Miller said.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Man, did Paul gave issues with women.

Tertullian makes him look like Hugh Hefner:

Female habit carries with it a twofold idea——dress and ornament. [2] By “dress” we mean what they call “womanly gracing; “35 by “ornament,” what it is suitable should be called “womanly disgracing.”36 The former is accounted (to consist) in gold, and silver, and gems, and garments; the latter in care of the hair, and of the skin, and of those parts of the body which attract the eye. Against the one we lay the charge of ambition, against the other of prostitution; so that even from this early stage37 (of our discussion) you may look forward and see what, out of (all) these, is suitable, handmaid of God, to your discipline, inasmuch as you are assessed on different principles (from other women),——those, namely, of humility and chastity.

So, for the love of Joe, y’all can leave him alone now, and allow him to give some speeches and shake some hands and do other vice presidential things, and stop demanding that he spend the next year kissing a butter cow in Iowa and debating the merits of the metric system with Lincoln Chafee. I was downtown today enjoying a great fall day and shooting some video snippets for a video of a song I’m trying to do. I was just downloading some of the files and I had shot a couple fall colors images in one of our parks and thought some of you might like to see them. It is not peak color yet here in Columbus, but I like all the colors involved in the season change. Sometimes early in fall you get some real nice subtle colors along with some vibrant late season greens to go with the changing trees.

If BeachDem is about, or maybe Mom Anon, you might like a little reminder of the city/area.

I hope to get out this weekend, or maybe early next week when the colors should be vivid if the leaves get to stay on the trees. You never know with the weather.

It has been a few years since I’ve gone through the park. I was amazed at how full of greenery the park is these days. It really gives it a feel like it must have been back in the days when that neighborhood was really going.

As you know, there are some grand old homes on the streets around the park. Back in the 80s it was struggling, but since the whole downtown and short north corridor has boomed, the city has really fixed up the park.

That’s true. Japan officially still has a lot to atone for. But I think the rap against Japan is not entirely on the mark. There are plenty beyond the LDP and their supporters who have been working to keep Japan from returning to it’s imperial and bloody past. I personally know Japan Communist Party leaders (at the local level) and radical teachers. And even with the Neo-con posturing of the Abe administration, this is a different East Asia than the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I am worried about Japan to some extent because their youth have seemed so apathetic. But the recent massive demonstrations in Tokyo show that many college kids and others are energized to protest this government. I hope they can make a difference at the polls.

Now, ask Japan to accept 1 Syrian refugee?

Don’t overestimate Dana.

re: #439 Skip Intro

Jr. Muhgunz screwed it up by the second word in the first sentence.

The second sentence isn’t a winner either, unless you think the Constitution was amended to protect our right to short sleeves and farmers’ tans.

The whole thing really just reads like a juvenile version of his mom’s beliefs. I don’t doubt he wrote it but I don’t doubt that Dana spponfed him that crap either.

You’d have thought she’d at least have checked it for obvious errors, but then maybe she did.

Let’s not got too hard. WE don’t know how old this kid is. But I fi were a teacher, I would not be impressed, he makes no attempt to comprehend the counter arguments and just brushes them off as excues.

My brother did service on many subs in the Silent Service. He was a Plankholder on the USS Alexandaria when she launched.

What it reminds me of… anybody here watch “Sons of Anarchy”? In one of the last episodes, Gemma goes back to her Dad’s house, drags a box of childhood stuff out of the attic, and when Jax shows up she shows him the 2nd Amendment essay she wrote back in elementary school…

I’m pretty sure Kurt Sutter meant that scene as a subtle dig at people who build their whole lives around firearms and how that ends up for them…

It sure the hell wasn’t about deer hunting.
