Donald Trump’s Muslim Immigration Ban Starts Tomorrow, by Fiat
During his campaign, Donald Trump played the media over and over by making an outrageous statement, walking it back, making the outrageous statement again, walking it back again, etc. etc. ad nauseam.
And one of the insane policy ideas he played this game with was his ban on immigration from Muslim countries. Over and over we saw the press dutifully report that he really didn’t mean it, he was pivoting, moving toward the center, etc. etc. ad nauseam.
Well — he did mean it, and he wasn’t pivoting or moving toward the center, and the Muslim immigration ban starts tomorrow. And he’s doing it by executive order, so he won’t have to deal with that pesky Congress.
U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to sign several executive orders on Wednesday restricting immigration from Syria and six other Middle Eastern or African countries, according to several congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter.
In addition to Syria, Trump’s orders are expected to temporarily restrict access to the United States for most refugees. Another order will block visas from being issued to those from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified.
The restrictions on refugees are likely to include a multi-month ban on admissions from all countries until the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security can make the vetting process more rigorous.
Has any president ever signed this many executive orders immediately after taking office? Trump is governing by fiat. And the United States is very rapidly becoming an authoritarian state ruled by an egomaniacal despot.
And that’s not all. Tomorrow the tiny-fingered fascist will also authorize federal funds to go toward the construction of the Mexican border wall he promised Mexico would pay for.
WASHINGTON — President Trump will order the construction of a Mexican border wall on Wednesday, White House officials said, and is mulling plans to stop Syrian refugees from entering the country and to slash immigration of refugees from “terror prone” nations, perhaps as early as this week.
During an appearance at the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday, Mr. Trump plans to sign an executive order to direct federal funds to be shifted toward the building of a wall on the southern border that became a signature promise of his campaign.
