Right Wing Media and Blogs Push Misleading Photo as Evidence Hillary Clinton Is Sick

Deliberate dishonesty to hype a conspiracy theory
Wingnuts • Views: 45,124

In a typically sleazy right wing media move, a whole mess of fake “news” sites like Breitbart and Gateway Pundit and Drudge Report and Infowars tried to push a six-month old uncredited photograph of Hillary Clinton being helped up a staircase (after slipping and almost falling) as evidence that she’s “sick.” CNN’s Brian Stelter reports: Drudge Report misleads readers with Hillary Clinton photo.

The Drudge Report, one of the most widely read sites on the web, is misleading visitors by taking a six-month-old photo out of context.

Clinton slipped on some stairs while campaigning in South Carolina ahead of the February 27 primary — that much is true. A couple of men helped her up the stairs.

Photos of the awkward entrance were published right afterward by two wire services, Reuters and Getty.

And sure enough, the caption for this photo at Getty Images is very clear about what happened (hover over the image to see the caption):

Getty

This was no accident, of course; conspiracy sites have been circulating these rumors that Clinton is unhealthy or has suffered “strokes” for years. (Stelter notes that her personal physician said recently she had no health issues that would prevent her from serving as president.)

This dishonestly presented photo is still featured prominently at the website of Jim Hoft, fabled Stupidest Man on the Internet, with no correction or update, and a screaming headline: IT’S WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT=- Photos of Hillary’s Handler Lead to More Questions about her Health - UPDATE: More Pics!

Because there’s never enough derp to go around with the right wingers shilling for Trump. Hannity’s now trying to make it appear that the Bush family is now supporting Trump.

It couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a single member of the Bush family. Jeb, GWB, Barbara, and GHWB all aren’t supporting Trump.

And with good reason. Trump’s a crank.

The chief spokesman for the Florida Republican Party, who is Hispanic, is leaving his job and joining a conservative organization due to differences with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Wadi Gaitan, a former senior House Republican aide who focused on Hispanic affairs, becomes yet another high-profile Latino Republican official to leave his job because he can no longer tolerate defending and explaining Trump. The Republican nominee has spent much of the past year maligning immigrants, minorities and women, a strategy that helped him win the party’s nomination but that has led to historically poor approval ratings among black and Latino voters.

Gaitan will be joining the LIBRE Initiative, a grass-roots organization backed by the industrialists Charles and David Koch.

“I’m thankful for my almost two years with the Florida GOP, however, moving on gives me a great, new opportunity to continue promoting free market solutions while avoiding efforts that support Donald Trump,” Gaitan said in a statement.

Scarborough’s view is that Trump would be cool with losing by, let’s say, a percentage point or two, because then he can scream bloody murder about how the election was rigged, as we’re already seeing him do. I think he’s gonna lose by a lot more than just one or two percent, and I wonder how he’s going to square that in his mind. I’m sure he’ll find a way; Trump strikes me as having the capacity for endless rationalization.

There was the report around the convention that one of the Trumpspawn called Kaisch to see if he’d be interested in being “the most powerful Vice President ever” since Trump’s plan was to let the VP handle domestic and foreign policy while he concentrated on “Making America Great Again” (which I assume means cutting ribbons at local tire store grand openings?).

Been a busy day here in Jacksonville, FL.
Had a mass shooting, at a subsidized housing complex, in the wee hours of the morning. Seven people shot, two in critical condition. At least one infant was present, but miraculously was unharmed.
Then, later in the morning an unspecified threat was made against one of two schools. Both the schools, an elementary and middle school, have similar names. Luckily only faculty & staff were due to be present this week. So, at least for today personnel conducted business at different locations while police investigate the threat.

“fanny” in England is the front entry, btw. I was watching a show called “The Big Breakfast” back in 2001 when I lived there and an American rock band was being interviewed. One of the hosts was an attractive woman and she bent over in front of one of the band members to pick something up and he said, “Nice fanny.” She actually turned beet red and the male host gently explained that fanny in the US means ass but in England…and then the band member turned red.

Remember the attempted attack in Texas against Pamela Geller?

Well, apparently, the FBI may have been egging them on.

Days before an ISIS sympathizer attacked a cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, he received a text from an undercover FBI agent.
“Tear up Texas,” the agent messaged Elton Simpson days before he opened fire at the Draw Muhammad event, according to an affidavit (pdf) filed in federal court Thursday.

“U know what happened in Paris,” Simpson responded. “So that goes without saying… No need to be direct.”
That revelation comes amidst a national debate about the use of undercover officers and human sources in terrorism cases. Undercover sources are used in more than half of ISIS-related terror cases, according to statistics kept by the George Washington University Program on Extremism, and civil liberties advocates say some of those charged might not have escalated their behavior without those interventions.

And that in a nutshell is why 3d parties are awful alternatives.

Money quote for me that sums up the far left pretty well-
There was the convention’s disproportionate focus on America’s Native peoples ― which is not a bad thing, but most of that attention was focused on broken 19th-century treaties and not on the urgent issues that beset many Native American communities today, such as widespread drug addiction, violence against women and crumbling schools. Many contended that there is intersectionality between the oppressions of yesteryear and, say, the disproportionate number of Native peoples subject to overzealous policing. Once the country finally learns what “intersectionality” means, it’ll be sure to let President Trump know all about it.
The far left and Greens to me seem more focused on the past rather than improving the future.

Definitely, I do think a lot of them are very out of touch with the communities they claim to be speak for. In a way, they’re another side of the right wing coin in the sense that they don’t listen to people. They just have their narrative and they run with it. Take health care for instance, they know that universal health care has worked in the Nordic countries and think that would be an instant solution for us. And hey I’m on board with health care reform but we have to look at works for a country our size as we do with all issues.

LOL!

Methodology - LongRoom Unbiased - Long Room

How do you remove the bias in the polls?

As we discussed above, each poll reflects the biases of the statisticians who prepare the poll. Since each statistician has their own specific biases that they introduce into their poll, it is extremely difficult to compare one poll to another. At LongRoom we use the actual state voter registration data from the Secretary of State or Election Division of each state. We add no “expert” adjustments to the data. This means that all the polls are rationalized one to another based on actual data.

Emphasis on belief trumps fact. They don’t care about empirical facts or that polls show leads. They feel that Trump’s ahead and that beats any polling. If only they completely shred the crosstabs and ignore basic stats, they’ll figure out how to get Trump ahead.

Problem is, that come November when reality hits and Hillary wins by a massive margin, these same idiots will claim that the election was rigged, despite no proof. It’ll be the first of many conspiracies to deny Clinton her place in history and undermine her legitimate wins.

The funny thing about this idea that black Americans vote for people based on their skin color is that the Maryland GOP was sort of hoping it would happen when Mike Steele ran for Senator in neighboring Maryland but most African-Americans voted for Ben Cardin. I’m not AA as you know but I’m tired of your voter bloc being made out to be like they’re morons who just vote for candidates based on that and honestly no African-American should have to apologize for being joyful when Barack Obama beacme the first African-American elected President just as no woman should have to apologize for being happy about the first woman President in Clinton. White Christian Male has been the default easy mode for so many in this country.

No need to thank me. I am too. What I’m really sick of is the talking down to and I’ve seen it to African-Americans by left and right wingers. Left wingers who think AA voters are too stupid to know that Bernie Sanders is the best for them or right wingers who want to use what the parties were in the 1860’s as if it has any real meaning on what the parties are now 150 years later. What the right will never understand is why their ideology is so toxic to many. They delude themselves into think they’re the only ones that are entrepreneurial and hardworking so it just makes it that much easier to dismiss Democratic especially loyal Democratic blocs like African Americans as moochers who just want free stuff.

Here’s what always happens when a Libertarian runs for governor here in Virginia. They just have a governor candidate. Not Lt Governor or AG just a governor. If your message truly is to provide an alternative to the two major parties then you should focus on getting candidates for most elected offices. Now the LP to its credit is a little better at than the Greens are. I think I read somewhere that Greens are only on 10% of all ballots this year for offices. Why the hell should I see them as the ‘true’ progressive alternative? And that’s not even getting into Stein’s kooky views.

I know but Baraka to his credit has been associated with groups like Amnesty International.

Here’s what his former organization has to say about Syria. Spoiler: the Syrian government committed war crimes against Syrian citizens.

Government forces and non-state armed groups committed war crimes, other violations of international humanitarian law and gross human rights abuses with impunity in the internal armed conflict. Government forces carried out indiscriminate attacks and attacks that directly targeted civilians, including bombardment of civilian residential areas and medical facilities with artillery, mortars, barrel bombs and, reportedly, chemical agents, unlawfully killing civilians. Government forces also enforced lengthy sieges, trapping civilians and depriving them of food, medical care and other necessities. Security forces arbitrarily arrested and continued to detain thousands, including peaceful activists, human rights defenders, media and humanitarian workers, and children. Some were subjected to enforced disappearance and others to prolonged detention or unfair trials. Security forces systematically tortured and otherwise ill-treated detainees with impunity; thousands of detainees died as a result of torture and other ill-treatment between 2011 and 2015. Non-state armed groups that controlled some areas and contested others indiscriminately shelled and besieged predominantly civilian areas. The armed group Islamic State (IS) besieged civilians in government-controlled areas, carried out direct attacks on civilians and indiscriminate attacks including suicide bombings, alleged chemical attacks and other bombardment of civilian areas, and perpetrated numerous unlawful killings, including of captives. US-led forces carried out air strikes on IS and other targets, in which scores of civilians were killed. In September, Russia commenced air strikes and sea-launched cruise missile attacks on areas controlled by armed opposition groups and on IS targets, in which hundreds of civilians were killed. By the end of the year, the UN estimated that the conflict had caused the deaths of 250,000 people, forced 7.6 million people to become internally displaced and led 4.6 million people to become refugees abroad.

Chinese media have some questions.

While the height limit on Chinese roads is normally around 4.5 meters, the bus offers about 2.1 meters of clearance, the state-run newspaper The People’s Daily reports. Further, the bus weighs about 100 tons, which is too heavy for most Chinese roads.

I think the reason leftists like him sometimes defend brutal authoritarian regimes is because those regimes oppose ‘Western Imperialism’. That’s always good in their eyes, so they have to pretend that human rights abuses don’t happen under those regimes. It’s inconceivable to them that the United States might be better than a lot of places even with its spotty human rights record.

There’s a non-profit service business locally that does adult day care for the severely disabled. They take some of their clients for walks around downtown. I welcome them to hang out in my store when they do. They have an adult microcephalic woman. There’s an adult man with the same who is the son of an old downtown business couple. He gets around by himself, always bundled up like it’s cold out, and always wearing his Greek fisherman’s hat. Makes me realize that all such children will be different, as are we all. And let’s face it, as much as we like to pat ourselves on the back, we as a society do not give a shit about people with disabilities and often our political parties and policies screw them over regularly. Society at large points, laughs, jokes and bullies and oftentimes this shit happens and no one steps up to stop it. And when they do, it’s all whining about “being too PC”. These kids grow up into communities that often do not understand them and don’t care to, or worse see them as easy targets for violence and abuse. Thousands of Americans died in Iraq because of Bush and cohorts lying this country (and its allies) into an unnecessary war. I smell a rat. This lawsuit may turn out to have backing similar to Abigail Fisher’s. It was eventually revealed that some wealthy guy had been searching for years for someone like her that he thought he could use to help destroy affirmative action. I’m thinking there’s a puppet-master somewhere in the background in this lawsuit, and that it being filed at this particular time may be intended to influence the November presidential election. As you noted, these persons have had almost four years to file this suit and are only now going after HRC. The obsession that many on the Right have with Benghazi doesn’t make sense to me. I was as deeply impacted by the loss of the lives of our fellow citizens at Benghazi as many of them claim to be, but I never thought to lay the blame for the incident on anyone. A mature, knowledgeable person knows that working in the foreign service is a dangerous job and would know that with the state of the world today, almost anything can, and does, happen. If HRC could have prevented what happened in Benghzai, there is no doubt in my mind that she would have.

Threatening, Anti-Muslim Message Left On Mosque’s Answering Machine

The Masjid Al-Sahaabah mosque in Watauga is on edge after someone left a threatening message on its answering machine.

“If you think you’re going to establish Sharia Law in my neighborhood in this country in Texas, you’re very wrong,” the caller, who claims to be a U.S. Army veteran from Watauga, says in the message that he left for the Masjid Al-Shahaabah mosque on July 30.

It was discovered over the weekend.

“People like me and my other military brothers are (expletive) heavily armed to the teeth. And we will meet you on any battleground that you want,” he says.

Freepers of course are convinced it’s a hoax because, well, head-chopping is a Muslim thing. Police can probably tell from the voice whether this is a yokel RWNJ, a difficult sound for the average educated person (ie Texas Muslim) to duplicate. The emphasis on Sharia law is another good indication of authenticity since a Muslim hoaxster would be unlikely to fully understand the bigot brigade’s mythical definition of the term or to grasp the central focus it has in nutburger Islamophobe thinking.

That suit has no chance of success. Sovereign immunity for starters. Throw in that Clinton was operating in her official capacity as Secretary of State and nothing that she could have done would have prevented those deaths. Multiple investigations found no wrongdoing.

And all that evidence would be brought into the suit.

This is just another fishing expedition/trying to flog a dead horse for more media attention when everyone realizes the GOP/Trump shitshow.

Yeah, I saw the bit about the emails and the YouTube video on the first page, and immediately dismissed it as a hack political stunt. Hopefully the next judge to read it will come to the same conclusion.

Though, sadly, I have a feeling this may turn into this election’s “Swift Boat” issue: the Republicans are desperate (or soon will be), and - as we all know - have few scruples or ethics when it comes to campaign smears.

Klayman tried to get the right to represent the Bundys in Nevada, but the federal judge turned him down because there are unresolved disciplinary charges that have been filed against him in D.C. The reaction to the judge’s decision was for Cliven Bundy to file a lawsuit against her.

“Hansen complained also that Navarro won’t let outspoken conservative attorney Larry Klayman represent Bundy in Nevada until disciplinary proceedings against Klayman are resolved in Washington, D.C.”

That suit has no chance of success.

Bringing a suit like this has got to cost a pile of dough. I assume it is funded by some conservative group. But even the conservative group has to know it is wasted money.
So, again, I have to assume there will be a fund raising effort to support the lawsuit and many rubes will pony up and the conservative group funding the lawsuit, and the legal team, walk away flush with cash.
Sometimes I admire the ruthlessness of the right wing and how they bleed their followers. It is a pretty slick operation.

CENTRALIA, Wash. - A resident ignited a small fire in a Centralia apartment while trying to kill cockroaches with a homemade flamethrower, fire officials said.

Fire crews responded to the scene, in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue, on Monday morning after receiving a report of a commercial structure fire.

By the time firefighters arrived, the resident had managed to extinguish the flames. No one was injured.

A preliminary investigation found that the resident was using bug spray and a lighter to create a flamethrower for killing cockroaches, sparking the fire.

It’s not clear whether any cockroaches were actually killed in the experiment.

Agreed. Trump will try to Gish Gallop with lies, a difficult thing to counter in a debate setting. I suspect she’ll respond by baiting him, since we know he can’t resist responding. Then again, that tweet doesn’t surprise me. I just had a wingnut on another board basically say something similar, which is that even though the scientist had been in jail since 2011, it wasn’t until the emails were put online that they knew he’d squealed and executed him.

I honestly wonder how these people tie their own shoes with the amount of mental bandwidth they put into twisting themselves into pretzels.

I didn’t know that Larry Klayman owned a paint company. It’s not the best paint in the world. You have to keep applying it over and over and after some time you might actually get some coverage. It’s called Pol-Paint. Unlike most paint that gives you a nice fresh look, you apply Pol-Paint on someone to make them look bad.

He’s been using it for some time. Most time it doesn’t even stick, but some it doesn’t need to. It is only for an impression.

As a matter of fact, I just did a search for Klayman and he is still using Pol-Paint on Obama. And again its very thin.

It’s better now that it’s electrified. In the old days of judges, I watched a match where after each exchange, one of the fencers would whip off his mask and glare at the judges behind him, looking for his hits on his opponent.

And of course, there’s the latest version of Unskewed Polls out there, claiming Trump has a narrow lead, based on - of course - ‘adjusting’ the party affiliations to match what they want to believe.

Funny how, in 2012, making that exact adjustment took all the polls from being highly predictive of the eventual outcome to being wildly inaccurate, and yet here we are, 4 years later, and the same idiots are buying into it again.

Documents obtained by The Associated Press through public records requests showed the state’s corrections department and attorney general’s office have accrued at least $1,067,000 in expenses fighting the inmates’ lawsuit. Most of the money has gone to private attorneys on both sides of the case. The state had to cover inmates’ attorney fees under a settlement with Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office.

A plaintiffs’ expert has estimated it would cost about $225,000 to install air conditioning on death row’s six tiers.

During an interview in June, state Department of Corrections Secretary Jimmy LeBlanc said the state’s refusal to install air conditioning on death row isn’t politically motivated. LeBlanc said installing air conditioning there could open a “Pandora’s box” and possibly force his department to make the same accommodation for many other prisoners.

I don’t think it’s about winning. It’s about salvaging the down ticket. Ballot access deadlines have already passed in half the country. Other states have deadlines this week. The states where McMullin can still get on the ballot include Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho, i.e. states with a lot of Mormon voters who hate Trump.

McMullin is from Utah. I think he’s there as an option for the Never Trump voters so they will vote for the congressional candidates instead of staying home.

My wife and I went out for a bike ride after work. Over on the next block is a house, the only one with any lawn signs in the neighborhood. One is the usual Hillary sign with her logo.

But the other one is a ‘Stop Trump’ sign. It looks professionally printed. But what I found interesting about it was the color scheme. The ‘ST’ in stop and the ‘T’ and ‘MP’ in Trump are blue, but the ‘OP’ in stop and the ‘RU’ in Trump are red. Kinda like

STOP TRUMP

Anyone seen one of these? Anyone have any idea what it means? I did an image search but didn’t see anything like it.

It can’t do that. There’s no way this guy can get on the ballot to even give down ticket races a chance.

The Never Trump goobers are desperate. They’ll try anything to not have to vote for Cheeto Jesus.

Is there a reason they filed suit almost 4 years after it happened??

I felt bad for them losing their children but I have no more sympathy. Their are either willing pawns or completely disingenuous. And their sons would be appalled as they went into this work with their eyes open. They knew their jobs were dangerous.

This really pisses me off.

I hate when they say that. It’s so juvenile. ಠ_ಠ It’s like saying Ay-rab when you know full well it’s Arab. I mean, no one says “Hey, those people speak Ay-rabic!”

Being in the Democrat party is obviously better than being in the Pubic Party.

Well, things are about to get interesting.

Mrs Cranky put a Hillary sign in the yard tonight. We live across the street from a large Catholic church and got interesting reactions last election with an Obama sign. There are usually a lot of Republican signs in the neighborhood (as well as anti-Planned Parenthood signs), although I have yet to see a Trump yard sign anywhere.

The year we had the Obama sign in the yard no kids came by on Halloween. Guess the parents thought we were evil or something. Curious to see how this year goes.

Yes, good advice. I had reservations for that reason, but our next door neighbor tends to be paranoid and keeps a close eye on the area. She called the other day, saying that she thought some kids were casing our houses for burglary. When we questioned her, she mentioned the kids were all carrying phones or iPads. Calmed her down by explaining Pokemon Go.

But I do worry about Trump fans, since they’ve already demonstrated bad judgement.

re: #243 darthstar

I’m actually shocked that DL didn’t have fall-back systems to take over in case their main datacenter had some “problems”. Every major bank by edict of the OCC have fully redudant systems, usually with a 2-hour recovery window for Tier 0 and Tier 1 applications, which are routinely tested by actually running live work in the alternate datacenter. If Delta did run with redudant systems, there’s going to be hell to pay with the CIO and the CTO-and if some of those key services are run by outsourcers, methinks the outsources are going to get hit with a major discount they have to pay DL, not to mention he fact that they will probably not see their contract renewed (along with some potentially nasty lawsuits to boot.)

That should be “ex-pharmacy exec.” Not only that, other medical conditions treated with certain drug classes will cause extrapyradimal results. This is just another case of PharmBro getting shellacked in the social media and whining about it.
